Large room, comfortable bed, large bath, cookies in lobby, good free breakfast. Hot tub broke.
The facilities were dingy and in need of repair. The room had an unpleasant odor. The morning staff was pleasant and friendly, but that did not make up for the shoddy facilities. It made me nervous that the light in the pool was floating on the water instead of being attached to the pool wall.
Nothing Extremely run down. Looks condemned.
The staff was friendly Cloths under bed and in dresser. Water temp in shower kept going up and down in short period.
worn out,need to be repaired.
The worst hotel i have every stayed at in my life. Well let me phrase it differently. ...I never stayed. I left immediately. No refund bit at least I didn't get bed bugs and was not robbed or solicited by drug dealers or prostitutes.
I will say, "You get what you pay" for is an understatement. The reviews state a restaurant on site, no there is not. Complementary breakfast is not available. I was over sold by the accommodation's reviews and listed conveniences for traveling from a distance.
The restaurant was good Staff not trained not helpful no towels at pool too many kids pool is a large tub at best. Will never stay again.
Nice and clean and quiet. All of the staff was very polite, cheerful and helpful!
We were in town two nights for a funeral with two young children who were not in the mood to travel, but we made it through with the help of the staff at harbor shores who were respectful and accomodating. They performed a few gestures for us that were not part of the formal policy, and we were grateful for the help. Food was good too, the veggie scramble for breakfast was excellent.
Location Hotel old. Dated. Not Very Clean.
Good location Good hot water shower Room is in terrible condition Broken smoke alarm Heater/AC looks like it was attacked with a sledge hammer Chipped/peeling paint Stained carpet, bed linens and furniture Noisy exhaust fan
it meets the expectations of a $85 a night place
Facilities were nice. Close to shopping & restaurants. Price was excessive for a Holiday Inn Express.
The hotel is easy access and overlooking Lake Michigan. I had one of the rooms facing the lake. Beautiful view even in the winter. Short easy drive to St. Joe. Clean facility and friendly staff. Cons: the rooms could be better soundproofed. The noise was more like an inexpensive motel, and for the price it should be better soundproofed. There were some challenges. They were renovating rooms strong unpleasant paint smell. One elevator was not reliable (there are two) but they didn't mention the second one at the other end, learned that from fellow traveler. Key card kept failing. These may be isolated instances, but if others experience similar situations and don't mention it, they could be on going.
Up to date, clean and spacious rooms. Every room has a Kouric coffee maker. Good breakfast. Very friendly staff.
The hotel is close to family in the area. We booked a family suite that has a separate room to place the baby (we had to supply the Pack-n-Play as we could no reserve one; first come basis). The set-up is perfect. There are also twin bunks for older children. A Play station in the room for older kids. There is a decent breakfast included, although seating limited if slightly busy. Free parking. If you want to minimize noise, get a room on the third floor. Second straight year (Christmas) with kids running around on the floor above. The floors seem to amplify the noise. The last day was miserable weather with wind and sleet. The power went out and they had no back up plan. No generator, just flashlights to wander the darkness to pack up and leave. You cannot predict weather, but they could have a back up plan. The staff was friendly, but had no options to offer. Just refund the last night and take the baby back into the weather to find another place to stay.
Room and overall facilities appeared recently renovated and nice overall. There were two easily accessible power outlets on the each bedside lamp, I haven't seen this often and found it very helpful. In-room microwave and mini fridge were a huge plus. Hotel is located across the street from Meijers so its easy to go pick up any little essentials you forgot to bring along. The girls at the front desk were very helpful in recommending a place for dinner. (Grand Mere Inn was great, try the lake perch!) Elevator made a weird noise every time it arrived at our floor. The door to our room stuck and needed a lot of extra force to open and close. Avoid the scrambled "eggs" and "gravy" on the breakfast bar, they're not good at all. Room rate was pretty high for what you got but was less than most comparable properties in the area.
Everything... Nothing NOT to like. VERY close to St. Joseph beach and all the amenities around the area. VERY clean room. We were able to check in early AND check out LATE!!!!. They used texting to help coordinate the process. This hotel has rooms with LOFT options!! LOFT!! I think it's a great idea to be honest. (our room did not have a loft - our room was HUUGGEE) The desk staff were VERY nice and the cleaning ladies on our floor (3rd VERY NICE) and warm to our son - which is important to me! I will stay here again when we return to St. Joseph/Stevensville - the place is second to none After the breakfast closed at 10am sharp the saturday we were checking out (8/15/15); the breakfast lady was cleaning up.. no problem, she has to do her job. I asked if she could unlock the juice machine so I can get my 6yr old son some apple juice (hotel cup, not a LARGE cup). She was short and tone was not nice... no, my manager said when it's closed.. it's closed.. I cannot open it..period.. I was like.. wow.. I said.. just for two seconds, he's six not 25.. it's like 9 oz of juice in a cup.. no, I cannot open it.. my manager said no.
Very close to the lake Whenever my girlfriend and I arrived the staff was in no rush to attend to us. We sat at the counter waiting while a man just sat there behind it completely ignoring us. He didn't say a word until another staff member mentioned us. I got an alert on my phone later that night saying I was charged a second time for my one night stay. I went downstairs to work it out, and there was a different worker down there. I showed him on my phone from where it double charged me and he said it would be an easy fix. Here I am a couple weeks later and I still haven't gotten the refund I was guaranteed.
The hotel is in a great location. The rooms were large and the staff was nice. Rooms seemed to be clean. The hotel is quite old and tired. The breakfast was subpar.
The location is in easy walking distance (1 block) to the small quaint business district. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach. Parking lot behind hotel was also convenient to go in and out. I reserved online 6 months ahead as I needed a suite for our toddler to sleep in the second room. The reception staff prepared to have me sign into a "standard king" room; not what I booked (and paid for 6 months earlier). They stated that they could not "give" me a suite for what I paid online. I would have to accept a standard room. I let them know that this was completely unacceptable and started to call Kayak, when they put me into a suite. They had an attitude that I was "ripping them off". We got a suite that was marginally clean. We had cleaning service 0 times for our 4 day stay. The front desk staff (perhaps the manager) was seen arguing with other guests checking in about what he "just could not do" for them. I had low expectations so I knew location was the only perk. I grew up in this town and will not stay there again.
The room was really clean! Smelled fresh. Breakfast was delicious! Very convenient to go to shops in downtown St Joseph. Convenient to Silver Beach area. Not enough electric outlets in the room. The loud music coming from the in hotel bar kept us awake. The sink had a drip in the bathroom. 4" of water to stand in during the shower.
The hotel was in a great location and provided a good place to stay for a wedding we were attending. It is writhing walking distance to the awesome Lake Michigan and the beach as well as many restaurants. The price wasn't too bad for a king size bed and a room with a balcony. The room did have a funky smell to it like it had previously been a smoking room. The breakfast was decent but not the best. Overall the price was a bit more expensive than I found the hotel to be worth but the location sells it I guess.
Location was amazing and easily accessible to shops, restaurant and beach. Just average rooms and facilities. Morning breakfast left much to be desired.
Clean, well-priced, comfortable No complaints!
We enjoyed everything. The room was very nice. The bed and bedding so comply. Loved the big shower. Also really enjoyed the room service, the food was fresh and hot. That we couldn't stay longer.
The hotel was very clean. It was very spacious with fridge and microwave. The breakfast was delicious. It was et friendly which was important to us to bring our little guy. There were many food places near by and also short drive to beach.
A clean room and friendly staff. Brief interactions with staff when necessary and an expedited check in/out process. The door to the room was a bit short allowing quite a bit of light to shine underneath. Nothing a folded towel couldn't fix, however.

Location to my meeting. The breakfast was not up par compared to other hotels I've visited
The wall is thin. Can hear upstairs customer walking all night
The hotel was fantastic for the price that was paid. The room was clean and spacious. My room was right next to the area where they serve breakfast so although I went to sleep at 11:00, I was woke up at 3:45AM from all the loud banging. It continued throughout the night and made my stay less than pleasant.
Good clean property and guest rooms. There is a fireplace in the lobby. One of the main power outlets at the work desk had a short in it.
Rooms were nice a spacious. Price. Definately overpriced. The pool was freezing cold and the hotub was even colder. ONly had one jet working in the hottub but that was ok because it was so cold you didnt want to stay in it. We went for a short one night stay and was disappointed.
The location was great for how close it was to St. Joseph and the interstate. Very friendly staff at the front desk. Breakfast was good. Bathroom was small for the size of the room
The staff that I had encountered was friendly and courteous. Everyone was very helpful and seemingly glad you were staying there. One of the people in our party had their wallet stolen out of there room. The hotel took the appropriate actions and was helpful in righting the problem.

Issues were not dealt with properly
The breakfast was tidy and well stocked The staleness of the facility. Wallpaper is unappealing and peeling, mirror in room was cracked so they piled a microwave and a mini cube fridge on top of dresser to hide it. This is NOT a long term stay facility and our room was NOT a suite. Overall it seemed like a $79 dollar room for $124
Friendly staff, good location, greal pool and jacuzzi Rooms need some remodeling. Bathroom fan was dusty
The sleep itself was restful. The air conditioner was quiet. Being ripped in the chair. Top cover was stained. I asked for a room where were allowed and the cover at the end of the bed had dog here or cat hair all over it. Breakfast was mediocre at best. When we left the bill said $79 paid. My credit card was charged $117 through Priceline.
Beds were very comfortable and the hotel was easy to find Breakfast was great and we didn't plan on staying so it was very nice that we were given toothbrushes and paste I think it was too expensive especially when I found out the guest before me only paid $80.00 to stay there and I paid over $100.00!!! I will NEVER use kayak.com again
Rooms were remodeled and very nice. And excellent value for sure. Pool was out of order. Cable and wifi signals poor.
The staff were very friendly.
There wasn't much to like. -Rooms were not very clean -Ceiling looked like it had severe water damage at one time -Seen nicer toilets in public truck stops -Room smelled very musty -Door to room had a big gap on the bottom -Faucet water temperatures were mismarked; hot lever was cold water and cold lever was hot water. We burned our hands on the scalding water a couple times. -"Breakfast" was a couple of stale cereal dispensers and old fruit -Yes the rooms were relatively cheap, but these were $30 a night rooms not $80. Won't stay here ever again.
We wanted to find a place to stay while touring the wineries in the SW corner of Michigan, and this turned out to be a very good location. The hotel is right off the highway, making driving to the wine trail easier. It was also about a 5-10 minute drive from downtown St. Joes's, with all its little shops and restaurants. The hotel itself was fine. Nothing fancy, but it had all of the general amenities we needed: bed, A/C, TV, refrigerator, microwave. And it included a continental breakfast. There were a few restaurants nearby, which got us through the weekend. Again, nothing fancy though. The area is near a mall/shopping center, so there are a lot of chains.
Location close to highway and shopping if need a Wal-Mart for supplies or McDonald's for food. No elevator that I saw for use with kids and luggage.
Staff was attentive; caring; room clean. I would stay again Lighting seemed a bit dim
It was close to the Chalets on the Lake. Our friends were staying there.
It was in a good location It had a work in progress look. It had an unfinished run down look
We attended the PGA event at Harbor Shores. The desk clerk helped us with directions to the bus shuttle. Her route was much better than the GPS. Thanks!
