Pros: The place is touted as a "Quiet hotel". It is that indeed; the setting is relaxing and the there is a calm hospitality that is not imposing or overdone. The owners are big advocates of the region and have an abundance of info to share. We are looking forward to more visits to this valley just to stay in the hotel again!

6.3 Good
Pros: The only good thing about this hotel was the nice lady who greeted us Poor thing looked totally overworked Reception Waiting at the restaurant and booking us in
Cons: Every hotel we stay at in this price range offers Slippers dressing gown kettle tea etc This hotel had none this hotel is all about making money It was virtually empty we had read a review that said all rooms had wonderful views and a balcony NO we were shown into a final small room that looked into a rock face it was we found out only 20 francs cheaper than the bright rooms with balcony and nice view (should have been half) watch out when booking You would think being empty any nice hotel owner would automatically put you in a nicer room Not these money grabbing lot The owner was so rude and eventually kept shouting yes shouting at my husband when he asked questions she didn’t understand Awful person she wasn’t going to forgo her 20 francs even though we had booked for dinner Dinner was very mediocre and very expensive Trout was tough salad been sitting around for too long for example side of cucumber dry etc Goat sausage and potato for £15 The whole evening was ruined due the disgraceful behaviour of the owner we desperately tried to find somewhere else to eat Everywhere was closed we were forced to eat their mediocre produce

Cons: The bed wasn't very comfortable but normal for Europe.

Cons: It turns out the swimming pool is not included in the summer price.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location with stunning views from both our room and the dining area.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean & well maintained. Breakfast buffet was excellent and dining area has a nice view over the traditional old buildings/church and the hotel location right next to the gondola and the bus stop was perfect. Spa facilities (pool, jacuzzi, sauna, etc..) were a really nice bonus. The indoor/outdoor pool was fantastic!
Cons: The only negative was that the swimming pool was way too cold and we had to pay extra to use the pool & spa facilities as we only stayed for one night.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was nicely located! The bus stop and cable station were right at the base of the hotel. The reception was very helpful, and gave us plenty of ideas for excursions! Amazing view from the room!
Cons: We would have liked to see the pool open later, especially after a long day in the mountains it would have been nice to have more time to swim! The pool was only open until 8pm. The food portions were small for the price at the hotel restaurant.

7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: No TV
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stunning Swiss charm with modern elements. Great view of the alps incl the Matterhorn and the Aletschgletscher. Food was divine and the staff super friendly.
Cons: We travelled with our two daughters (5&8) and took a 4bed room. Was comfortable but very tight with low ceiling. Would suggest taking a panorama suite with an extra bed for one child while the other sleeps with us in the big bed. Value for money much much better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What an amazing hotel to stay at!! Bravo to Chris and his wife. Everyone was there to help and to accommodate us. Room felt as though no one had ever even slept in it before us. Highly recommend. Word of advice, don’t be surprised that there is a walk to the hotel after the cable car. We couldn’t thank you enough!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff impeccable
Cons: Nothing to declare
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautifully located (and completely renovated) historic hotel. Tasteful mix of the old and new. Panoramic restaurant and terrace. Although noise isolation could be improved, we can recommend the panorama rooms, although the Wifi reception there can be improved as well. What we really loved was the fact that you are staying at high altitude and that there are no cars. Fresh air, quiet nights. It is a great place to start hikes in practically all directions.
Cons: We asked via email for some information about luggage transport a couple of days before arrival, but never received an answer. We found this in they end ont the hotel's own website, but be aware that when going back to the valley, the only free transport is at 10:00. For the other transports you have to pay extra. Communication can be improved here, other hotels seemed more proactive, as they welcomed their guests at the end of the cable car. Except for the waitress who served us several times and was very friendly, we feel the rest of the personnel can improve by showing a more personal touch. An example is the bottle of water in our room... without water. Small details, but still...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The nice and warm staff, a heavenly retreat, panoramic view. Thanks for lending us snowshoes and sticks.
Cons: In winter skinng season, don't stay in the panoramic view room while the restaurant is busy... soundproof... you know

Hotel Nest- Und Bietschhorn - Blatten - Building
8.9 Excellent (199 reviews)
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, close to the ski restorts around. Budget rooms are a great value. Great sauna!
Cons: One of the 2 beds was under a very angled roof.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice room with windows on two sides of the valley. Wifi working well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel from every point of view. Rooms very clean and comfortable, excellent food, staff helpful and friendly, and what a location!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: World class kitchen and very good hiking routes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the setting. The level of service, everything!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Historic hotel has been recently renovated in a sympathetic way. Our room was small but comfortable with a lovely large shower room. We enjoyed drinks on the restaurant terrace which has a beautiful mountain view and an excellent dinner in the hotel restaurant; breakfast was good as well. Surroundings are beautiful, parking was easy and the staff all friendly.
Cons: The hotel has a lot of stairs and no lift. Would not be suitable for someone with poor mobility.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful and was able to direct me to a local garage for some minor work. Breakfast was very good, the dinner choices were also excellent. Wi-Fi was strong.
5.5 Okay
Cons: Room was very small (~10m^2) and I could only stand in 1/2 the room due to sloping roof.
Hotel Breithorn - Blatten - Building
8.9 Excellent (159 reviews)

The rooms are fitted with a cupboard, a table, and a washbasin and offer views of the surrounding mountains. Guests can relax on a terrace or use the shared lounge. Ski storage is available. A breakfast buffet is provided every morning, and meals can be enjoyed in the on-site restaurant serving traditional Swiss mountain cuisine. Special diet menus are available upon request, and packed lunches can be taken away. Brig is 25 km from the Breithorn Hotel. The nearest bus stop can be found 40 metres from the hotel, and free parking is possible on site.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I can only appreciate the accommodation in this remote area because usually it comes at a much lower level. However, the "hotel" I believe is rather for the ones interested in hiking and not for one-night-passing-by type of stay, as you can't really enjoy the room due to its limitations.
Cons: Frugal breakfast, no dinner available after 9PM. Although one gets all the conditions e.g. running hot water and heating, I still believe it's too spartan for my taste. I'd say it's maximum at B&B level, not a hotel level. And don't forget to keep your shoes outside the room (very strange custom for me).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything from a to z.
Cons: Without car it is not convenient to reach.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent pasta in the restaurant.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is really great. Can highly recommend to order cheese fondue in the restaurant, one of the best we have ever eaten. The free lecture on the carnival masks topic organised for hotel guests in the Blatten village on Thursday evening was an amazing bonus. The room was beautifully furnished - loved the Hay chair.
Cons: We missed a little hocker or a wall hook in the bathroom - nowhere to hang our clothes on when stepping into the shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brigetta and Marie (sisters) were delightful and very friendly & helpful in planning our visit to Zermatt & the Matterhorn! A delightful, beautiful place! The drive was about 1.25 hours, very scenic! Antonio, from Portugal, was an excellent chef ... don't miss the salad with chicken skewer & cantalope ... fabulous!! Breakfast in the mornings was wonderful with homemade jams, local breads & honey! An assortment of meats, cheeses, cereals, fresh fruits, oatmeal & eggs! We booked this hotel because Bookings said it was 15.2km (20 minutes) away from Gimmelwald, but it actually was 2 hours by car! If we had another day, we would have made the drive to Gimnelwald, but hopefully we will make it back to Europe and will see it next time!!! Very unhappy with Bookings as we were so looking forward to seeing the Gimmelwald area!!! BUT we are happy to have discovered Hotel Breithorn, a diamond in the Swiss mountains!!! This area is known for its skiing! A must visit if you are a skier, hiker or just looking for rest & relaxation! Thank you Brigetta and Marie for a wonderful place to stay ... it was great meeting you all!!! John & Debbie
Cons: Only that Bookings information was wrong and because of this we missed the place we were looking forward to visiting the most on our vacation to Switzerland! Brigetta help us by directing us to Zermatt, which we are happy we saw (it was not a planned destination).

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was really nice, with fresh bread and homemade jams.
Cons: Due to the busy time of the year (Loeschtal Carnival), it was quite difficult to get a parking place available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was great.Village in the high Alps great. Breakfast great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolute perfect halt.
Cons: We could not stay longer !
7.5 Good
Pros: My third stay at Bietschhorn. Simple, clean, old but well maintained. Super location. Great kitchen for dinner. Good breakfast but aweful coffee. Pleasant staff.
Cons: Aweful coffee for breakfast. Little soundproofing. Strong odour of cigarettes in the strairwell which wafts into the rooms once the doors are opened. As almost everywhere in Valais, generally old accomodations in need of modernization are priced at the same level as modern well maintained sites in for example Graubünden.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: They had billiards and table football and accommodated for younger children with fun magazines and playground style equipment outside. The ice cream and Wifi were also excellent! Staff were relatively friendly too.
Cons: Overall it was a great hotel. They could have had a larger selection at breakfast though.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a no-frills hotel in the centre of Kippel. It is excellent value for money and suitable for a short stay, 2 - 3 nights. My single room was small, but adequate. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and staff very friendly. The sitting room was very comfortable. Close to the bus stops and lift to Lauchenburg
Cons: No translation of the menu made choosing difficult.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money, very clean hotel, and the staff were so nice, after I missed the bus by 1 min literally they even drove me to the train station 10m away! I would definitely recommend Petersgrat!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love to stay at Petersgrat. It is nestled in the lovely little town of Kippel. It is a simple and clean place, no fancy decorations (except the Tschäggättä masks on the dining room wall). Rather, the fanciness comes in the friendly vibe and excellent service. I always feel welcome there and the morning breakfast is a treat. During this stay, I spent one morning enjoying breakfast and watching a live Schwingen championship on the television, while intriguing and spooky hand-carved masks gazed over my shoulder- a sampling of magical, idiosyncratic Switzerland.
