Good value for late booking
We stayed in Bologna only to use it as a base for traveling via train to another smaller town. It was very convenient to the train station - just a short walk across the street/around the corner.
While pleasant, the front desk staff were not very helpful. We stayed on a Sunday night, and upon returning from our day trip, we requested a recommendation for a local hotel. We were told "It's Sunday, you'll just have to walk this way (with an arrow on a map) and see if anything is open." While we understand that many restaurants are not open on Sunday, it would be useful for the front desk to be able to provide at least one recommendation and directions for those of us not familiar with the area. In particular this would have been helpful, as the menu at the restaurant offered very limited (something like four) options, and indicated that many were "made with frozen ingredients."
Wireless internet isn't free in rooms.
