Pros: Very good house, beautiful, clean, well decorated. We had everything we needed there.
Cons: They could have previously sent instructions of how to do the check-in. When we arrived the door was just opened but we took sometime to understand that, and it was raining at the moment.
Pros: it is in a middle of nowhere, isolated, but good for people who is looking for relaxation and prairie life style. Very good for value.
Cons: little bit of update especially on paint from outside.
Pros: The house is big, actually nothing need to complain, but if need to say, the faucet is hard to close. The dog is so cute!!!! The price is cheap! And we saw the aurora here!! Recommend this house!
Pros: Great place close to route 1, comfortable house with great view, well equipped kitchen. A perfect stop along the way around Iceland! Highly recommended!
Pros: You could you tell that the owners are trying and keeping the house clean. It is an old house, but it is kept relatevely neat. We arrived really late, there was not a problem with owners, they also did not give us a check out time. Overall it is great value for money, I would stay there again
Cons: Old house so it has it flaws. Really simple, just one shower. Three bedrooms, nice beddings
Pros: Roomy, great hosts that live nearby. All the creature comforts. Scenic location and quiet. Could feel a little remote for some but owners live in a house nearby.
Pros: Great house, clean and comfortable. Beautiful and convenient location. Excellent for families or larger groups!
Pros: It was a lovely cabin, with quaint decor.
Cons: It was remote, not close to any stores or towns. There were no basic supplies in the kitchen like coffee, milk, or bread. We had a bit of food and thankfully we got by, but we would’ve appreciated a few basic supplies, especially considering that these accommodations were by far the most expensive we stayed in in Iceland.
Pros: we were 9 people; cozy house; equipped kitchen; quiet place by the ocean; useful hosts. I recommend for large teams.
Cons: One toilet and shower. I knew about it.
When you stay at Húnaver in Blonduos, you'll be next to a golf course, you'll be a 13-minute drive from Vidimyrarkirkja. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a library, and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: This was/is the town’s community center w/ guesthouse bedrooms scattered throughout the building. You have access to public spaces to relax, not just stay in room. There was a microwave available. We had a below ground room thus used window ledge and open window for fridge. Nature sounds all around. Take off shoes.
Cons: Fluorescent parking lot lights seeped through window curtains. Very basic rooms. Heater at head of bed, ended up sleeping opposite direction.
Pros: Beautiful localization, very nice, friendly and helpfull personel, lovely, cosy and tidy rooms. Couldn't imagine better place to stay on Iceland.
Pros: Very large room, very high standard...
Pros: The hosts were absolutely delightful. Very friendly and super helpful in suggesting which routes to take. We wanted to drive the F35 road (North to South) and this is the perfect place from which to start. This is a community centre and not built as a dedicated hotel - welcome to the community! Very good breakfast with homemade bread. Very good value for money stay. Highly recommended.
Pros: Location was good. Nice place and good variety of Icelandic beers
Cons: Shower room was dirty
Pros: The location, the facilities, and the beautiful farm, it's all beautiful
Cons: No kitchen available. Although the host allowed us to use the restaurant's kitchen for the night, we had nothing to cook on in the morning, which is a bummer given we are backpacking students who prefer to make our own food.
Pros: Good location, the best price / quality ratio. Great hospitality! Clean room. Huge common spaces) Very comfortable and cute place.
Cons: No electric or gas stove at the house (only at campsite), but we used perfect grill outside.

Pros: The owner was very nice and giving us a tour through her farm showing us her animals and letting us help her feed them. We also got fresh eggs from the farm. There is a waterfall on the farm land, which can be accessed via a short hike. The view is amazing.
Pros: Very nice place
Cons: I liked everythings
Pros: The hot water not smelling sulfure. Otherwise standard guesthouse with shared bathroom
Cons: We felt like we were disturbing and it would have been better not to take the breakfast.
Pros: Thank you! everything was great!
Pros: The host was very kind and helpful
Cons: The shower was a bit old
Pros: Nice authentic village house. Comfort and clean kitchen. Thank you for great hosting :)
Pros: The breakfast was a family affair, in the farmyard kitchen, with shared stories, and we had a great time talking with other travellers in the guesthouse kitchen. Walking with the horses and sheep was a treat.
Cons: Our room was a little small. Leave the suitcases in the car.
Pros: Very nice and friendly family running the house. We really enjoyed having breakfast together and talking about life in Iceland.
Located in Skagafjörour, Guesthouse Himnasvalir is a 3-minute drive from Vidimyrarkirkja and 6 minutes from Skagafjordur Folk Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Owner was friendly and bedsheets were clean.
Cons: Wrong location on Google maps. Remote area. Noisy room next to generator. Old, excentric house. Outdated bathrooms, with shared showers, shower drain plugged food was not edible (frozen burger and soaked in oil fries with expired ingredients at the table). No blackout curtains and available curtain did not block entire window ( Icelandic summer has 21hrs of sunlight)
Pros: Breakfast quite good. Cleanliness is at top notch. Kate and the staff is very welcoming and friendly.
Cons: The shower duct was blocked and water started overflowing from the shower cabin. I had to close the shower tap multiple times to avoid water flow to the bathroom floor. I think this is bit overpriced comparing to other hotels I stayed around Iceland.
Pros: We stayed for 2 nights. Location is beautiful. It is bit in the interior but beautiful location. Johann was amazing host with his charming dog Rosa. Absolutely loved our stay!!
Pros: A rare gem with unique atmosphere. We liked every single minute of our stay at Himnasvalir. Spacious rooms, good interior decor, cozy corners to sit here and there, tasty food.
Pros: Big house, nice host and lovely cat and dogs and horses! Very good breakfast
Cons: The location provided by google map is wrong
Pros: The owner and his assistant were extremely kind and we enjoyed talking to them about Iceland. The sweet dog had five puppies and based on that alone, our kids rated it the best place they stayed in Iceland!
Pros: An eccentric but lovely house, with a genial host. The room was huge and well equipped with a wonderful double bed. Breakfast was very good and varied. WiFi worked perfectly. The downside is the quality and size of the towels, plus the location is very remote (4km down a gravel road away from everything) it may not suit everyone. And DO NOT use Google Maps with the name of the Guest house because you will end up 25km away at another hotel. I had a delicious lamb soup upon arrival in the evening.
Cons: Towels and the location may be too remote for some.
Pros: It was suck a great place to stay with beautiful views, good food and a lovely host.
Pros: Allow for late check-in
Cons: Horribly dirty and clattered place! Smelly! Place for small children to play located in the kitchen!!! Thoughtless hosts! I was given a room facing the front of the house, although the house was empty. At 5 am I was awaken by noice of cars, people and horses gathering in front of the house before heading to the mountains to bring sheep! When I complaint about this, the hosts told me that they forgot to tell me about it! They should have thought about this and give another room for that night!
When you stay at Bakkaflöt Guesthouse in Skagafjörour, you'll be 12.1 mi (19.5 km) from Skagafjordur Folk Museum. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: I guess this was far too expensive for what it offers.
Pros: The cottage and the triple room were ok. Nice the hot tub. Nice the scenery outside.
Cons: The kitchen in the cottage wasn't so well equipped and the tub outside the cottage was empty and nobody at the reception told us if we can use it and how to use it. The woman at the reception was hasty.
Pros: The Rafting and Horse ride were really wonderful! Drink chocolate, during Rafting tour, made with natural hot water coming from a natural spring source, fantastic... Horse tour in stunning environment, crossing river, grass fields with sheeps, with a puppy dog (Bella) running with us.... The staff was really nice, They left us the room for my old mother while we were out for rafting, delaying the check out time.. Thank you! Our house was confortable and big.
Pros: It was a cosy self catering holiday cottage which was lovely and clean with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. It was ideally positioned for the area we wanted to explore.
Cons: There was no draining board which made washing the pots rather difficult.
Pros: Modern minimalist cabin in a great location. Ideal if you want to disconnect from modern life and focus on people and nature... and horseback riding too.
Pros: Whirlpool/Hot Pot was nice
Cons: Kitchen outside of building and other side of the road AND very poorly equipped. Only 4 hotplates and one Toaster, 2 huge pots, 1 scoop (some plates and few cutlery was there). Not very clean too and in same little building with the four campsite toilets. No free Tea (or Coffee) was offered (normally a standard in Iceland with these high accomodation prices). Room noisy because of pool pumps and water flowing noises in the wall. Room uninspired and very basic.
Pros: Clean room
Located in Skagafjörour, Hótel Varmahlíð is in a rural location, a 3-minute drive from Vidimyrarkirkja and 6 minutes from Skagafjordur Folk Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Staff very pleasant. Rooms clean. Dinner in the evening was very good and price normal for Iceland.
Cons: Rooms a bit dated and overpriced even by Icelandic standards. We paid €184 for 1 room for 1 night. Breakfast a bit limited too - though quite a few pastries for the sweet toothed. Fixed shower in bathroom but no shower cap provided, so ladies take a shower cap if you do not want to spoil your blow dry!
Pros: Quiet, clean, peaceful, good breakfast
Cons: Shower not for families with children.
Pros: Very nice and helpful staff!! Ideal stop if you are going from/to Reykiavik to North Iceland.
Pros: The staff was very friendly and welcoming - really nice people!
Cons: Everything is very old and the beds aren’t close to being comfortable. We has a very strong smell in one of the rooms - it was hard to breathe.
Pros: Simple but good breakfast. Very nice staff! We had very relaxing stay.
Cons: The sleeping pillows were no good.
Pros: Clean, large rooms, good breakfast!
Pros: I had to leave at 7.00, breakfast doesn´t start until 8.00. I think that´s a little late, I was surprised it was so late.
Cons: Breakfast timing.

Pros: Isolated but wonderful loaction!
Cons: This place could be a jewel, but needs an extra effort (e.g. leaking shower, smell).
Pros: Barbecue in the courtyard
Cons: Very cute farm with hospitable owner. She spent two hours, answering our questions about Iceland and her farm.
Pros: Good accomodation with bathroom inside. Nice hosts and a complete kitchen to cook all you need
Cons: Breakfast was ok, but only a few options to choose. Wifi only available at the living/dining room, but not at the bedroom
Pros: Amazing staff! The owner is an excellent person, very kind and absolutely friendly. Since I needed to arrive late, she's left a note at the door with my room number and the keys so I could stay even with no need to check in. This was fantastic!
Cons: WiFi signal very weak in the room
Pros: Nice view to the beach
Cons: Common space is limited
Pros: The guesthouse is in the middle of nature. The room was good with a good bed. Also the breakfast was very good,
Cons: Mabe a tv in the room makes it very complete for me.
Pros: Very pretty setting by the river. Very quiet. Good sized room on ground floor. Warm inside. Can park near room. Lovely breakfast room with a lounge section. Deck with chairs and a jacuzzi. Got clothes dry on the clothes line. Host has good English.
