The kitchenette had a microwave, small fridge and coffee and teas - perfect. Great location to explore the town but outside the hustle and bustle - very quiet which was lovely! On street parking was a huge bonus (free too!).

9.6 Excellent
Pros: What’s not to like about Moulin de Vigonac. From the moment you arrive, you feel welcome, a true warm family feel. The setting is peaceful and the hotel has that French rustic appeal which makes it truly delightful. Our room was spacious and very tasteful and so very comfortable in every way. This is a family business and they can’t do enough to take care of you. The food in the hotel is wonderful and we overheard two other guests say that it was better than a 2 star Michelin restaurant they’d eaten at before their stay. We stayed a week, Brantome is around 20 mins walk but the hotel are happy to give you a lift to/from town in the evening should you wish to eat there for dinner which we did a few times. This is a very special hotel and one we will definitely be coming back to.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great welcome and hospitality from the family who own and run hotel. Delightful decor, superb food and a lovely relaxing experience being beside and on the river. Well tended pretty garden and patio areas with quirky features. Decent size pool with a good deep end, not one of the shallow ones.
Cons: Nothing we can think of.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we were greeted in the car park we knew it was going to be fabulous. Such lovely friendly staff. Our room was just beautiful with a lovely terrace overlooking the pool. Beautiful bathroom & gorgous decor & furniture, very comfortable bed, crisp white linen & soft towels. The restaurant was lovely & the food & service the best we had whilst in France. The breakfast was just lovely, served at the table with crepes, fresh fruit & eggs all delicious. I was even given a gift at checkout . We can't wait to return as soon as possible, just amazing stay, thank you.
Cons: Absolutely nothing, just perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is probably the best Hotel we have ever stayed at. It is so good to be greeted in person by the owners when we arrived. Beautiful location on the rivers with huge garden. The food in the restaurant was incredible and the waiter always recommended the dish of the day and the wine to accompany it. The pool was clean and great for cooling off. A walk into Brantome only takes 20 minutes. Will certainly come again and stay ever longer!
Cons: Absolutely nothing

9.0 Excellent
Pros: In this idyllic corner of the Périgord, this hotel exceeds any expectations of comfort, convenience and gracious hospitality. It is so quiet, at night you hear only the ducks and frogs on the nearby stream. I was enchanted by this 16th house that has been fashioned into a charming hotel. Location is good for visiting Grotte de Villars, chateaux in the region and the town of Brantome. Breakfast was ample and delicious.
Cons: Only one thing was amiss, and I hesitate to say it, but my room needed a stronger light to read by. Other than that, everything was perfect!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The most generous and attentive staff we came across so far. Small gestures make the whole difference (i.e; offering free pastries in the morning when you are waiting in the lounge or offering jugs of water when you are by the pool).
Cons: I am 6’3 so the low ceiling and shower were a bit of a challenge but nothing they can do about. To be honest most places in France are like that but just as a heads up for all the tall people out there!

Pros: The host is charming, helpful and friendly. The room is clean and comfortable and the breakfast is very good. This B&B is right in the centre of Brantom, an ideal location. There is hustle and bustle all around, but if you like some peace, just shut the windows and you would think you were in the countryside, not a sound! There is also a lovely view of the stunning 'Abbey of Brantome and Monastery' across the river.

Pros: I travelled with my elderly mother and William offered us a room on the ground floor for convenience when we arrived which I thought was very thoughtful. We had a fantastic stay and could make the most out of it as William gave us some great tips of what to do in the area. Staying at le Chatenet was more like staying at a friends house than staying at a hotel which was great and unexpected for us. I'd love to come back with my family and children as the kids would have loved the pool and huge gardens and tennis courts. So hope to see it again soon!

Every aspect was superb and we felt that we had made two new lovely friends.I cannot recommend it more highly and will definitely be back. Flying into Limoges and driving down 1.5 hours was so easy.

Pros: Location was excellent. Free parking nearby. Clean and spacious. Wonky floor and windy staircase gave great character and in keeping with the area. We experienced a local power cut and the host was with us in 10 mins to help sort it. Can not recommend enough it was great.
Cons: Nothing it was ideal.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Keyless entry system, the location, the character of the building . The comfy bed and shower.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing appartement in a great location - beautifully renovated and well furnished. Really loved it.
Cons: We rented one apartment for our 3 daughters and the third fold out bed was just rather small for an adolescent. For a small child it would probably be fine, but it was a bit narrow for anyone larger...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were very surprised when we turned up to this apartment it was better than we expected. The property was beautifully designed and quirky, it had everything we needed, towels, bottle of water, shampoo. The bed was super comfy and the pillows. Quite location. Location itself was perfect a few minutes walk to restaurants and shops. The apartment was super clean. We had no issue with hot water in this apartment, everything was great. DIRECTIONS It’s worth noting the place can be tricky to find if you do not speak French as the instructions are sent in French and they do not explain exactly where it is. It is essentially next to the Ibis hotel, the street on the right hand side of the ibis has other roads coming off of it to the right, it’s one of the first roads, walk down a little and you will see a sign on the wall introducing the apartment. That’s where you put your first pin code in which you receive on email and the second pin code is the door to your apartment also in the email. CAR PARK There is a car park to the left of the Ibis Hotel which is free and also opposite down the ramp by the river - also free.
Cons: Nothing :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Keyless door was a nice feature. Room was well laid out and comfortable. Location was perfect.
Cons: Only minor thing to improve is including instructions for the smart TV box as we couldn't figure it out.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a great apartment in a beautiful building and town. Location is just right, a few minutes walk into the centre and quiet at night. We stayed in the ground floor studio. It was decorated very tastefully and had everything we could have needed. In addition to that, it was SPOTLESS, very clean and well maintained. Free Parking is just over the road, couple of minutes walk. 100% recommend and we will definitely return.
Cons: There was a bit of a fusty smell and the shower went cold quite quickly.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful quiet setting and easy access to tourist sites, warm and personal welcome from owner, good breakfast, excellent value for money. We would not hesitate to recommend it to others exploring the Brantome area.
Cons: Tall guests need to watch out for low-flying ceilings and beams!
6.3 Good
Pros: The owner of the property was delightful, very helpful and aimiable Basic but nice French breakfast fresh bread and croissants daily, home made jams Somewhat Unkempt but welcoming garden
Cons: Rooms very dusty, cobwebs and bits everywhere and a very low roof. We are quite tall and couldn't see in the bathroom mirror the position of it was under a beam. We were asked to go barefoot due to the noise with no carpets, which was fine, but the floors downstairs and in the bedrooms were dusty, crumbs and bits all over, we purchased soft slippers to wear as we stayed a week. We were looking forward to using the pool but despite being there to use we decided against it as the water was turbid and cloudy, a maintenance issue I suspect.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Not a lot unable to answer as not satisfied
Cons: It is not a hotel it is just a house with 2 rooms she rents out at a high price we had great difficulty finding it only to be told she had to go out and we wouldn’t be able to get in if we didn’t find the house
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The use of a fridge in the communal area. Lovely looking swimming pool but didn't get to use it. Twin beds were nice and wide and not just a standard single. Very peaceful at night.
Cons: Some ham and cheese would have been nice for breakfast rather than just bread and jam.

Pros: Beautiful location, wonderful host, close to hiking trails and the wonderful Brantome.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It’s a very cute place to stay - however you will need a car as it’s of track but if you have a car it’s literally an 7/8 min drive so not far at all, the hosts where so lovely and welcoming breakfast was perfect nothing was to much trouble they made you feel very welcome and at ease. A lovely place very peaceful and beautiful! ❤️❤️
Cons: I didn’t like that our room didn’t have a bathroom inside it, we still had one which was ours but I was not an ensuite this only was an issue because I had to get dressed to go to the bathroom and felt I couldn’t walk around in my PJ’s (just me being me)- however we did have a balcony
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a little gem in the middle of nowhere in a beautiful village. The owners are very kind and friendly. We enjoyed meeting them. Overall we had a lovely stay.

Pros: very warm welcome with a great breakfast in a peaceful area.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This Chambre d'Hotes is located in a quiet and beautiful forested area only 30 minutes walking distance from Brantome. Lovely living room downstairs and personalized breakfast. Very friendly treatment and atmosphere, with Fabienne making sure we felt at home and always helpful in suggesting places to visit in the area. We enjoyed our 6-day stay so much, that we thought we had another day left and almost missed our next reservation in Sarlat! Merci beaucoup Fabienne!
Cons: There wasn't anything we did NOT like at Le Vigneau.

Pros: Gabriella was a perfect host, the room was beautiful
Cons: Nothing, it could not have been better
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The nicest proprietors you could possibly meet. So helpful
Cons: Everything was good. We arrived late October which is a little late for the good weather and the swimming pool. Its a rural location - 7 minute drive from the centre of Brantome. That suited us but others may prefer to be in the town
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful Chambre D’hote! Fabienne keeps the rooms and ambience to a high quality. Our room was large, comfortable and with an outside balcony looking over the countryside. Additionally, there is a comfy terrace right outside and a short walk down the garden takes you to a very private swimming pool. Breakfast was included and simple but beautifully done with home made preserves.
Cons: Nothing.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The people who owned the place were really helpful and friendly, the setting was stunning, and the facilities absolutely beautiful. The owner gave us a brilliant recommendation for dinner which was a local night market with live music. Beds were comfortable and really nice shower.
Cons: The fitness suite was just a smelly room with 2 machines - not suitable for anyone really serious about fitness and you can't use the pool in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Le Mas des Bories definitely has the 'wow' factor! Walking across from the large, shady car parking area you come upon a simply stunning property with an imaculately kept, very pretty garden with an infinity pool. As gardeners ourselves, we just wanted to drop our bags and have a wander round it. We managed to stay focussed though and, once inside the property, were equally delighted by its beautiful interior. Our hosts were welcoming, friendly and attentive and led us to our room on the first floor. As with all Mas des Bories rooms, it looked out over the garden so was quiet despite the property being near a road (and we do sleep with the windows open). Later, we had a swim (towels were provided), then after an apertif in the garden, we chose to eat in the charming dining room (you do need to book dinner in advance of your stay) and we enjoyed everything we ordered except one of the cheeses which smelled of old socks (no, we are not connaisseurs of cheese!). The wine suggested to us was excellent too. I would recommend Le Mas des Bories to couples or solo travellers.
Cons: Hard to find anything negative to say about the delightful Mas des Bories. To be picky, the decorative French doors to bathroom with pretty curtains instead of glass were attractive but afforded little privacy.
7.1 Good
Pros: + super charming building
Cons: - rooms are rather small (and we already upgraded the room) - no A/C... Summer is hot! - bit strange to be told by host that he cannot understand you because of your accent. Especially when you are a born and raised French... hoping that has nothing to do with ethnicity
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners

Cons: It was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host Pascale was excellent. He has a great dry sense of humour and he and his wife are a lovely couple. The 16th century farmhouse is stunning and dinner and breakfast in the gardens wonderful. The food quality is excellent and with wine all very reasonably priced. Also a lovely infinity pool to cool off. We highly recommend this beautiful hotel.
Cons: The rooms do not have air-conditioning but even at 36C we slept well.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and attentive hosts who served delicious food. The hotel itself was charming, spotless with stylish decor and furnishings. French rural charm at its best.
7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely property with lots of charm and character. Good food generally although limited choice.
Cons: Over priced for what we got. Pool not open for the kids, limited choice of food for children. For nearly €500 for one night, evening meal, wine and breakfast we felt was a lot.

Pros: Very friendly welcome and attention. Excellent french breakfast. Very homely B&B. Quiet location out of town. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Somehow expected more based on review scores and price. However, not sure what was missing! (Maybe toiletries and bigger towels.) Slightly difficult to find as the address did not appear in our satnav. Mind your head in the rooms!

Pros: A beautiful home away from home, Lovely hospitality, a very good breakfast!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful home and a warm welcome.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome, great breakfast and beautiful decor (crystals & cartonnage). Martine shared her knowledge of the Dordogne which added to the interest of our tour.
Cons: Rue Marcel Pagnol is a little hard to find if you approach from the west, better to approach from the east.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet location, secure parking. There are no restaurants nearby so don't arrive tired and not want to drive! The B&B is easy to find, not far from the autoroute. The room is quite comfortable, the best sleep I have had in a while! The owner is over-the-top friendly and helpful. She even invited me to dinner, mostly out of pity I think because I was on a motorcycle! I had been driving all day, and the day was so hot. My sorrow was that I don't speak French. We managed with translating programs, and she was very patient and tolerant.
Cons: Perfect place, perfect location

Pros: Warm welcome, beautiful rooms, wonderful food, lovely location.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly atmosphere in a wonderful environment of gardens, flowing waters and lovely houses. The personal attention of the owners and staff, especially the kind style of Mme. Giselle... Having marvelous dinners on the garden terrace cocked by M. Michel...

Breakfasts on the terrace were great and the house is very central in the old part of Brantome. The Table de'Emilie bar/restaurant opposite was friendly and convenient too.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is charming, helpful and friendly. The room is clean and comfortable and the breakfast is very good. This B&B is right in the centre of Brantom, an ideal location. There is hustle and bustle all around, but if you like some peace, just shut the windows and you would think you were in the countryside, not a sound! Also a lovely view from the terrace, of the caves and shops, built into the rocky outcrop below the trees. There is also a lovely view of the stunning 'Abbey of Brantome and Monastery' across the river.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful owners. Large room and good breakfast with unexpected lovely crepes. Good central location in this charming old town, with plenty of restaurants close by. Free parking available in car park a short walk away.

7.1 Good
Pros: Ample car-parking space, closed off. Bedroom simple and clean. Wide double bed. Fridge. Swimming pool welcome on what was very hot day.
Cons: Pity restaurant was closed (being Friday) as menu looked quite good and reasonably priced. But numerous restaurants within walking distance. Dreadfully busy and noisy traffic in narrow main-road right through the town. Why hasn't the town built a bypass? (Important to have room with window giving onto internal courtyard). Breakfast service laborious. Why not self-service set-up?

7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good basic French..croissants, etc., etc. Dinner on the enclosed terrace was very pleasant....good traditional French cuisine. Staff.....mainly husband and wife front of house/restaurant were friendly and helpful, with smiles on their faces. Even rang us after we'd left to say they'd found some items we'd missed. We enjoyed Brantome, too, and the hotel is within easy walking distance of all the facilities there.Enjoyable stay
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice meal in the evening. Breakfast a bit average.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was outstanding. Dinner was the best meal we have had for a very long time. The gourmet menu was well worth the cost. Fresh local food cooked to a very high standard.Breakfast was limited in choice but again the food was to a high standard. Also enjoyed the small swimming pool.
Cons: Decor was a little dated but added to the overall ambiance of a family run hotel in rural France. Not a problem for us but there was no air conditioning or lift to rooms which are all on the first floor. Also a bit of a trek from car park although you can decant cases at reception and then move car.

Pros: Wonderful food

Pros: Quality in all respects.
Cons: Nothing !

Pros: Welcoming and helpful staff... we had a lovely twin room overlooking the river. Hotel very central and there is a large free car park within easy walking distance.
5.8 Okay
Pros: great location on the river, nice terrace, very cute town.
Cons: breakfast was truly awful and staggeringly bad value. They charged 6.5 euro for a very poor coffee as cancelled the 16 euro breakfast after seeing the pretty terrible spread on display - most of the items were empty (40 mins before last orders). No pastries and no more on their way after asking, with not much else on offer other than some stale cornflakes and a bit of ham. Could have done with a mini bar/fridge in the room. Room looks a lot better in the photo's, it's pretty frumpy/tired and could do with bringing up to date.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Brantome is a beautiful small town. The hotel overlooks the river and we happened to have a room with balcony overlooking the river. Parking was straightforward in the public car park opposite the hotel and help with luggage was provided by the friendly staff. We have stayed here before and hope to do so again.
