9.2 Excellent
Pros: What I really liked, and what had been missing from our visit to Chile for the 2019 eclipse, was meeting native Chileans who invited us into their home and gave us a good dose of Chilean hospitality! We were greeted by Sebastian and Adolf and two of their friends/guests. After we had settled in, we all sat in their family room, listened to contemporary Chilean music, sipped on wine and had a conversation with them for over 2 hours! We all learned a lot about each other which, for me, is what travel is all about. The house was designed and decorated in a very bohemian style and seemed to be an outwardly expression of who the hosts were. Such interesting details around each corner! Breakfast was healthy: freshly juiced kiwi and orange, coffee, eggs, whole wheat toast with spreads. The kitchen was clean as were the linens and rooms. For anyone wanting authentically Chilean hospitality, I would definitely recommend this place.
Cons: Lucky we had a GPS! We arrived after 8 pm and the neighborhood looked a little sketch as we drove through the streets. It was probably because it was night and we were unfamiliar with the area and most US traveling guides recommend that you not walk alone at night. I'm glad that Sebastian walked out to meet us and guide us to his onsite parking around the corner (the house is on a corner lot). Meeting such friendly and warm Chilean Ambassadors at this bed and breakfast stripped away a layer of fear in this regard, making the visit one of the highlights of my visit to Chile and bringing us all a small step closer to world peace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Excellent view to the sea. Breakfast absolutely fine.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Top host in a fun house
Cons: There is no proper sign on the outside to indicate one has arrived on the right spot
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place to stay. Extremely friendly and helpful owners with many tips for Cartegena and surrounding areas. Very warm welcome including coffee and cookies. Fresh and good breakfast - and delicious coffee. Views towards the sea, only 5 min walking distance from Playa Chica, and 10 min to the city centre.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owners were great and extremely helpful
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was amazing, very nice and helpfull staff and an very healthy breakfast; so nice that it was a pitty that we have to go further
Cons: —
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place is a wonderful getaway from busy Santiago. You can see the love to details and great taste in the place, it has so much charm. On top of it all, we had a delicious breakfast with fluffy eggs, avocado and cheese, as well as a great fresh, made smoothie. Our hosts were charming and took great care of us. We would highly recommend this to be the best place around.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were impressed with Sabastian and Andolfo they were fantastic hosts. Friendly , informative and most helpful, they with a friend Magdelena drove us to and back from a restaurant they recommended, they were great cooks themselves and offer home cooking if required. Their home is eclectic , retro, and full of fun with a choice of music to match - we would recommend a visit for anyone passing through Cartagena on the coast route or visiting the nearby Neruda beach house or Casa Marin Vineyard.
Cons: Nothing to dislike!

7.5 Good
Pros: My room at this hostel was fairly basic but it was very clean and comfortable. The hostel is close to downtown Cartagena as well as the beach with many small shops and restaurants. The very gracious owner was most helpful in assisting me to secure a taxi
Cons: The walls are thin so one can hear other tenants if they are noisy.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very special place. The house is very beautifull and the owners are very kind. We had a very home away from home feeling! The breakfast is really great, all fresh and homemade! The room was light and the bathroom spacious and comfortabel. They also have a cabin for a family!
5.8 Okay
Pros: The place was clean and the bed very confortable
Cons: We arrived a bit before midnight and we were almost left outside, with no previous warning. The hostess is too invasive, it is almost creepy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service,hospitality,breakfast, rooms
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The host Loreta was outstanding and the care and comfort of her guests meant everything to her. She went out of her way to accommodate my wife and I as we did not have a car, including making evening meals for a modest extra charge. She arranged a car and driver/guide for us and another couple for a day of sightseeing, for which the driver's fee was very reasonable. My wife and I are very experienced B&B users and we know when we have found one outstanding which Loreta's is.
Cons: For a couple spending a few days prior to a cruise, like my wife and I, not having a car is a big disadvantage as CR is in rural area distant from restaurants etc.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect and gracious host, excellent cleanliness, very comfortable bed, spacious room, amazing breakfast, very tranquil place immersed in a luxurious garden
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best B&B that we had in Chili during three weeks, the place, the breakfast and the service was perfect.

The San Antonio and Cartagena bus stations are 10 km from the villa, and the Pablo Neruda Museum is a 25-minute drive away. The port of San Antonio is 10 km away. The ocean is 10 minutes away by car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We visited Casa Marin midway between Colchagua and Casablanca, and found the stay here remained such a highlight of our trip! It is a bungalow tucked in the middle of the vineyard where the autumn leaves brought a fierce colour contrast. We loved to walk among the vineyards around, or just laze on the terrace having simple food prepared with its fully-equipped kitchen, sipping some fine wine that Casa Marin had stocked for us in the room, gazing the sunset and starry night in a secluded while relaxed vibe. Yasna ushered us through our whole stay, she was adorable and attentive, suggested a couple of options. We opted for the food pairing lunch at their Cipreses Winebar, the food was creatively presented and beyond delicious, with surprising wine pairing from Casa Marin, that did redeem our disappointment of Chilean gastronomy. Casa Marin is a hidden gem for whom wants to closely experience the first-rated Chilean winery, that we wholeheartedly recommend!
Cons: nada
7.9 Good
Pros: The location within the vineyard was quiet and peaceful. Nice to have a french press available for the coffee. Great potential for a lovely experience.
Cons: The breakfast provisions were left the night before which resulted in staleness of bread and cake.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This was an absolutely incredible spot to be off the grid. Being situated in the middle of a vineyard was the perfect recipe for relaxation. The staff was incredibly helpful. The breakfast was very generous. We loved being able to build fires and walk through the vineyard. I 100% recommend this property!
Cons: Everything was wonderful! The only thing I was surprised by, was we couldn’t walk to the tasting room as the villa is situated too high up on the hill.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very attentive , location excellent , the food left was plentiful and fresh
Cons: The bathroom needs updating , tatty in areas . The decking needs looking at as wood raised and easy to trip over .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an awesome location set right in the middle of the vineyard. Very spacious little cottage with a great deck for viewing the sunset over the fields.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff, especially Georgia, were very friendly and helpful. The bungalow was in a stunning position and had beautiful views, and it was very comfortable.
Cons: Access to the bungalow was difficult as the last few minutes were up and down steep hills on a dirt track through the vines. Also the taps in the handbasin in the bathroom only supplied cold water.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and cosy house with huge outdoor deck, stargazing and sun bathing included! Love that it sits in the vinyard itself. Staff were very friendly, and as property is a 10mins drive away from the bodega, they will guide you in your car up there. Once there, the Jeronimo cottage has everything you need: a big waterbottle with tap, wonderful and very comfy bed, a sofa, the huge deck, and even a small fireplace for when it gets cold at night. Which it does! Breakfast items are there, including fruit, juice, bread and eggs. Great place!
Cons: Across the small valley is the main road, at some points a bit open which makes for some noise when trucks pass by. Not super inconvenient although complete silence is intermittent. I would suggest no-flavour yoghurt without sugar for breakfast. Furthermore, a perfect and comfy place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location that was much easier to access than we expected and just a short drive to town. We had lunch at the property an enjoyed it so much we ordered dinner - they were able to bring it up to our unit at 6pm and we re heated it later that evening so we didn't have to drive an all and could enjoy the amazing wine (selection in unit) and sunset without having to worry about driving. Star gazing, bird watching, and a sense of nature and seclusion make this property really stand out vs a standard multi room hotel.
Cons: We loved the unit but would not recommend the nearby town of Cartagena for dinning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful home in the middle of the vineyard. Well equipped, nicely decorated, very comfortable. Fire pit outside with plenty of firewood and matches! The staff delivered our dinner to the home. The food was superb!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Villa Miramar is a very nice place to spend the night after visiting Casablanca wine valley. Only 40 minutes from Santiago. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath, kitchen, dining and living room bungalow sits on top of the highest hill in the middle of rolling hills of vineyards. We could not believe it even had a view far away of the Pacific Ocean. Rustic access road adds to the quietness, intimate seclusion. We could hear church bells in the evening while stargazing. Later we enjoyed the fireplace inside. Amazingly very good Wi-Fi connection. We did not mind cooking our breakfast, enjoyed it outside on the picnic table. Arrive during daylight, access road is challenging. We requested a picnic basket for our evening meal. If you are a coffee drinker let them know. We only had enough coffee for 4 cups. We wanted more, it was chilly during Nov 2018. Apparently they are more tea drinkers. They provide a very nice French coffee press. We would gladly stay here again. Plenty of hot water. We planned to drive from here to Santa Cruz in Valle the Colchagaua wine region. Going south Ruta #66 roads were good but full of trucks. Very big container port in Cartagena fed all the trucks south. If we did this again, we would drive back to Santiago and take Ruta #5.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked that it was# a great little boutique hotel next door a nice restaurant too . We arrived to SanAntonio by bus to catch a cruise ship . It’s a bit of an uphill climb but we walked from the bus station and Gonzales let us check in early . Family run little hotel only a few blocks from the cruise port only $10 by cab. Comfortable they offer you a complimentary wine and a great breakfast definitely a great spot if you are there to start a cruise ,
Cons: The town itself needs to pick up a bit for cruise clients otherwise it’s not far from Santiago to the cruise port only a 2 hour bus ride. If you want to be there early and stay in town definitely stay with Gonzales and his family
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast basic but good; warm and casual atmosphere. Staff very friendly.
Cons: Rooms could have been slightly larger by removing some of the furniture to accommodate the suitcases.

Pros: Great little hotel run by enthusiastic family
Cons: All good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness of the family who run it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff (owner and his family) were extremely welcoming. They anticipated guests needs, I.e. had extra electrical converters, local restaurant info. Had a lovely area for guests to socialize in a bright location with a view of the town/harbor. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. You felt they really wanted their guests to enjoy their stay. We would definitely consider booking again, if we were visiting San Antonio in the future.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners nothing too much ,pickup from Santiago on time and good driver , also drop off at cruise terminal
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here prior to joining a cruise. The location was wonderful, right on the waterfront with a view of the harbour. The included morning breakfast was great. Marcello, the host, couldn't do enough for us.
Cons: Not sure, this is not a Sheraton and is a little rustic. If you want a 5 star hotel this is property is not for you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: "Marcelo" the owner greeted us with a warm and friendly smile and made us feel at home. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The dining room is gorgeous and has a fantastic view of the ocean. Highly recommend this hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very attentive. It is a very old hotel but it has everything you need. We were very happy with it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast, terrific staff, nothing was to hard for them in efforts to ensure we had a good stay. If you are cruising it is within sight of ship and transfer to port is available as is from Santiago. Both of us loved it. Great, great , great
Cons: Nothing it exceeded my expectations
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The facilities were basic but clean and comfortable. Totally in keeping with the locality - certainly not gym, spa and swimming pool type of hotel. Staff were superb, even if some conversations were conducted by way of ‘google translate’. They also went out of their way to reunite an idiot who left his travel documents behind, taking them to the dockside before the cruise ship sailed. They had earlier, also provided transfer to the cruise terminal at no cost. Good ‘local’ breakfast - no other food facilities but excellent advice as to local eateries. Bottom line.... would I go back there if staying in the locality? Most definitely. (Photo from room below)
Cons: Possibly, intrusive traffic noise but that is being extremely picky. It did not interfere with a good night’s sleep.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Mellatti works well for any pre or post cruise days. Marcello was friendly, helpful, and a wonderful host. His sister, Cecilia, is also an excellent driver for transfers and the experience with them was a great value.
7.5 Good
Pros: We arrived on a private shuttle. The owner came out to meet us, very charming. Our suitcases were whisked away & up to our rooms. Just as well as there were many stairs & we had suitcases that were heavy for 6 weeks of holiday. Check in was easy & they held lunch for us to order & sit down to enjoy. The dining room overlooked the port. It is a family run business & so friendly & gracious. The hotel was just a short walk to the waterfront & large shopping mall. It was fun to walk around & we were treated to a display of sea lion feeding that in their sheer numbers, I have never seen before. The following morning, we were driven to the cruise terminal free of charge & it was all made very easy for us. So, would I recommend this hotel, definitely YES. I would say most people who stayed there would be before taking a cruise & was perfect for this, plus the charm of the service.
Cons: Our party of four had two rooms & the difference in size was quite noticeable. We took the smaller of the rooms, the bathroom was just adequate. We did not get the sea view as noted in our booking but that was only a small matter.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the family atmosphere and the genuine warmth of the owner and his family. The location was ideal. The view was amazing when we woke to look out on bobbing boats in the harbour. If someone wants to experience a unique experience outside of boring chain hotels this would be an ideal choice.
Cons: We were a little uncomfortable with the propane heater in the room however it was not really an issue.

Cons: Need to clean. There was dust over all furniture
7.9 Good
Pros: The fact that the owner did not speak English. Food excellent. Vues of the boardwalk and beach from upper floor great, day and night. Christmas eve diner 10PM fantastic
Cons: Slidding patio door damaged, hard to slide, no rollers. Lock replced by padlock.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: The receptionist was friendly and offered us breakfast.
Cons: Let's say that the Chilean version of the city isn't as good as its Colombian counterpart. The neighborhood is really sketchy, the receptionist despite being friendly, overcharged us. The whole hotel looks like a thrift shop, and desperately needs TLC. The rooms had a small luggage lock, as the doorknob wasn't working. The bathroom was also very bad.

The bathroom was close to our room and the fact that it was shared with other guests was not a problem at all. The kitchen was well equipped. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location as a jump off point when catching a Cruise. Easy walk into the downtown shopping area and the pier.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was a typical one for Chile and sufficient . The room was quaint. The best memory is that we arrived at 5:30 am and the person at the desk allowed us to check in at that time. We will be forever grateful.
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice little hotel that could be fantastic with some general maintenance and modernizing. Staff was fantastic, answering all questions and offering suggestions. Very patient with all guests, and spoke English. Great view of the harbor. Easy taxi ride to cruise ship terminal.
Cons: While rooms are 'cozy', they need to be updated. Exterior requires paint and landscaping. Hotel is a good walk to city center, and return trip is all uphill. Nice marina area and (small) mall down the hill in the other direction. WiFi spotty in room. Breakfast was bread, ham and jam. Coffee and juices available.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: very poor facility - was freezing in the night. Heater did not work, No hot water in shower.

Pros: Comfortable beds. Great food in restaurant. Good breakfast. Staff super. Good location for bus station, cruise port and superb supermarket.
Cons: Wish room had an electric kettle to make tea upon waking up
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Clean, but there were maintenance issues with leaking water in the bathroom. Needed more towels.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location right by the cruise port
Cons: Coffee was Nescafé instant.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location by the port. Very helpful and cheerful staff. Better bath towels than many 5* hotels. Restaurants close by.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everyone at the hotel was helpful, and friendly. Our breakfast was substantial and delicious. Very close to the cruise port, souvenir market, and grocery shopping. I highly recommend Hotel Puerto Mayor.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Staff was friendly, but spoke little English.
Cons: We were unable to use the wifi, except if we went near the front desk. We were told a technician would look at this for us. The family room we were given was very outdated, Room #17, no hot water, no hangers in the closet, stain on one of the sheets. Room #18, open wires in junction boxes, no closet, an ancient shower held up with 2 x 4's that were wet, poor lighting, , a window that looked out on old lawn furnishings. We had someone knocking on the door persistently after we went to bed and were afraid to answer it until we yelled at them to go away!! Breakfast consisted of instant coffee, toast, cheese and a mystery meat.

7.9 Good
Pros: The location within the vineyard was quiet and peaceful.

Pros: Staff very attentive , location excellent , the food left was plentiful and fresh
Cons: The bathroom needs updating , tatty in areas . The decking needs looking at as wood raised and easy to trip over .

Pros: A beautiful home in the middle of the vineyard. Well equipped, nicely decorated, very comfortable. Fire pit outside with plenty of firewood and matches! The staff delivered our dinner to the home. The food was superb!!
