When you stay at Pemba Lodge in Pemba Island, you'll be by the sea and steps from Shamiani Island Beach. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
Pros: Fantastic location, just a few people .. relaxing and in the middle of nowhere No electricity in the rooms but it was part of the deal.. great place ..
Cons: According to tide u may have to walk half an hour to reach the place.. and with the luggage’s is not fantastic ..
Pros: The place, the staff, the peacefull feeling and everything else
Pros: Pemba Eco Lodge and Shamiani Island felt like paradise. Already the boat ride to the lodge was amazing, past mangroves, deep turquoise water and beautiful beaches. The lodge is located on an amazing beach. Great accommodation and food! I would recommend everyone to stay here for some nights, also a perfect spot for a longer weekend from Dar. 100% relaxation!
Pros: Pemba Lodge is located on a beautiful beach. We were the only guests at the time, so it felt like our private beach. I would recommend Pemba Lodge to everyone, it is a special place, very friendly staff, the hotel manager Masoud is very helpful, the bandas are clean and nicely decorated. I wish to come back soon!
Pros: We liked the beach - amazing color of the water and we liked the whole atmosphere as well as the staff - especially the waiter - really nice person.
Cons: We did not like the TOTALLY wrong the mistaken information how to get to the place also we did not like the EXTREMELY high prices for everything - it is not worth and it is not stated before- you pay 240 USD and get no activity included in the price. If you do all activities they offer you - you need like 500 USD for a day - this is a price of 6* hotel.
Pros: The manager Ali, and the staff. the setting, and the logistic.
Cons: The bathroom in the apartment , the wind every day in the evening. The credit card payment doesn’t work...
Pros: Fantastic snorkeling ; Remoteness; Compact with Lokals
Cons: The preparation of octopus - Chewing difficult

Pros: Were to start...everything was just superb! The wonderful location! The friendly/smiley/kind/loving people who worked there! The amazing food!!! The big rooms! The close contact with nature and all of its magical sounds! The including trip to the beautiful sandbank!! It felt like a home, and we would be trilled to come back <3
Cons: We liked everything!
Pros: It was a beautiful hotel, nestling in to the countryside unobtrusively. The boat trips were fantastic.
Cons: The only thing that might have improved the trip was air-conditioning in the room.
Pros: The breakfast was great, trip out to the sand bank was fantastic really beautiful, sunset boat trip was cool, The pool was great for a drip after reading in the loungers, nice area to sit in before heading up to the top for dinner
Cons: I found our meals at the open top floor sometimes breezy, All our meals were included in the 5 days stay, I found I missed greens and salads, lovely fruit tho . The shower area I thought could have been cleaned better if your asking but over the whole picture it was a great place to stay.
Pros: The food was really tasty. Very friendly staff
Cons: We expected to see more coral during our snorkling trip. But offcourse that is not the fault of the lodge.
Pros: Very good tours, both the daily boat tour to the sand banks for sunbathing and swimming, and the tours made for extra payment.
Cons: Only seafood at the all inclusive lunch and dinner, though the staff made beef at request.
Pros: Amazing location on a truly emerald bay where sandbars appear and disappear with the tides. The lodge fits harmoniously into the community. Wonderful staff and great place to relax
Cons: They keep things simple, very good standard Eco lodge
Pros: Great location, very friendly staff, quiet and relaxed atmosphere, fantastic boat excursions around the lagoon !
Pros: The CEO (older man with White curly hair) was extremly friendly and fullfilled all our wishes... the boatman was very friendly! THUMSB UP!
Pros: Location, the pool is amazing, the daily sailing to the sand banks and snorkelling and mainly the staff
Pros: Great and friendly staff and they really try hard. The excursions were good and it made the stay better. The food was great. Really nice green luscious environment. The view from the top of the roof breakfast place was fantastic
Cons: It didn't seem like the pictures and no beach nearby at all (there is a port). The facilities could be much better even if it was offered with the "local and traditional" theme. I paid the money nearly 6 weeks prior and on the day of the departure I had to mess about to show proof of my payment! Also no air con. ..not needed in the cooler months, but I'm not sure what it's like in the hotter months. The amenities seem to me very basic and low quality bathroom. ...I don't think this is 4 star at all
Lala lodge Pemba Zanzibar offers accommodation in Mkoani. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. All rooms come with air conditioning and a private bathroom equipped with a shower. Lala lodge Pemba Zanzibar features free WiFi. There is a 24-hour front desk at the property. The restaurant area has a TV with sports channels. A selection of activities are offered in the area, such as diving, fishing and hiking.
Pros: Lala lodge is just fascinating.. Super place to relax and enjoy the beach plus the great sea foods prepared by super chef Dennis.
Cons: The idea of departure made me sad..
Pros: The owner of this place is very supportive and a good cooker. He helped us with informations, tours, transportations and anything else you could imagine. The place is just beside the maritime port and easily you can reach great islands and beautiful beaches.
Cons: The bathroom is really small and need maintenance. The water went all over the bathroom since the water could not easily be drained. The location is a bit noisy as well due to the proximity of the port. The calculation of the price of our stay and expenses were a bit confusing, i would rather reccomend to do it explaining item by item, and whenever possible have the prices of the tours and meals fixed somewhere.
Pros: I liked the family feel of this guesthouse. Denis both hires his staff and buys most of his food and supplies from the local village, so he is invested in his area. He took my wife with him one day and she had a great time shopping around. Our trip to the National Park at Masali Island was so good we went twice. Gorgeous beach and wonderful snorkeling in the blue waters. I also really liked the family style dining and of course Denis’s food is delicious. Note that there is no menu here at LaLa. Denis suggests what he wants to cook and we readily agreed. Especially after watching the local fisherman bring fresh fish right to LaLa. But he had no problem doing special orders for a vegetarian and a non-seafood eater during our stay. Water and hot drinks are free all day. Hakuna Matata One final important note. If you have the time and inclination take the ferry from Stonetown. We did and we saved over $300USD compared to flying in both directions and getting airport transfers in both directions. Plus LaLa is only 1KM from the dock-just take a right at the end of the pier and walk through the village. It’s at the end of the road before the local school. Or take a taxi.
Cons: A set housekeeping schedule, perhaps every other day for cleaning and towels, rather than having to specifically ask.
Pros: The manager was so kind and really helped me with all aspects of my stay. He asked exactly what I would like to eat and drink, and provided guides for all the tours I wanted to do. The food was delicious and the staff was very kind!
Cons: The tour guides did not speak English very well.
Pros: The location was beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: The place looked neglected the food below avrage and very expensive. The owner was very forceful helpful until we realised he ripped us off.
Pros: - The incredibly warm welcome at the airport - The owner always doing his best to make our stay unforgettable (and it was!). Taking us on his boat to a nice beach, for example. - Very good food! - Lovely breakfast - Friendly and helpful staff We felt like at home and shared good conversations and good moments with Dennis-Daoudi For all that, we just say : "thank you, it was great! “
Pros: Every thing was in the right way !
Cons: Really ... I’m not Idea .
Pros: Wonderful hosts, tasty food and diverse day trips.
Cons: Nothing the host could influence.
Pros: We enjoyed the amazing terrace with the sunset on the sea, the great food we had for much convenient price, the cleanliness of our room and the warm welcome from the staff.
Cons: Only improvement I could suggest could be to do sume fumigation to kill some of the mosquitoes, but rooms and beds hace mosquito nets and everything was really nice.
Pros: Owners are such good people, they helped us a lot and also recommend good things to do in the island. The location is perfect, right in front of the ocean. You can canoe, swim, take a ride to different places. They are really good cookers as well, meals and breakfast were delicious. Build a lodge in Pemba island is a great idea. Thank you again

Pros: The meals were on point, kudos to the Chef!! and the view, just amazing...
Cons: The internet connection wasn't so good.
Pros: Previous bad reviews are very unfair Wifi in our room, good hot water, comfortable bed, quiet, good food
Pros: Wonderful views and very kind staff
Cons: The staff
Pros: lovely staff, friendly service and very helpful
Cons: location next to an oil refinery was less appealing (visually) - there was no problem apart from the aesthetics.
Pros: A beautiful location in a remote part of Pemba island. Your personal balcony looks over the water, it’s peaceful and the room is well equipped. The staff are wonderful and incredible helpful. Our ferry was cancelled last minute and the team worked to get us a flight the next day which was wonderful. They also organised an incredible trip to Misali Island which is a must do while you are here, I’d highly recommend. I would go back to this beautiful spot.
Cons: We had a bit of an ant infestation in our room but the staff did keep coming to clear them up. The restaurant service is very slow, we waited an hour most meal times, but the food is delicious and the staff a very polite. Both of these are minor and easily fixed.
Pros: The staff was really nice and helpful. Great beach infront of the room.
Cons: The food was ok. I think the chef needs a little bit more training.
Cons: Lack of real beach
Pros: The hotel has a strategic position for tours to various small islands. The location is peaceful, the restaurant adeguate and the staff discrete.
Cons: The rooms (we stayed in the bungalows facing the beach) are really small!

Pros: The staff were friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect for me - in walking distance of the centre of Chake Chake but in a rural location. The evening meals were fine.
Cons: No advance warning that payment expected in cash. Breakfasts limited. Service of evening meal sometimes slow.
Pros: Comfortably located just off the main thoroughfare in Chake Chake. In walking distance of said main street, public transport, market, shops etc. Very clean sheets, towels etc. Excellent aircon, mosquito net etc. Simple but sufficient bathroom. Very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. On-site restaurant, which is excellent as Chake Chake did not seem to offer very many other options. Be advised that accommodation and transport on Pemba are not cheap. I would definitely stay here again.
Pros: Nice and friendly staff. Very good food. Not far away from the airport. Swimming pool outside.
Cons: Broken shower.
Pros: I loved my stay - the staff were all friendly, welcoming and so accommodating, and the manager Sushant is really lovely. Everyone went above and beyond to give good service, and I was treated to a free meal one evening and also given a free room upgrade. There was plenty of super hot water, A/C worked well, tea and coffee in the room, huge comfy bed and a good TV. There is also a pool which I sadly didn't try but looks lovely. All in all loved everything about my stay and hope I can go back soon. Generally the guests are business guests as Pemba isn't a tourist destination but I can't recommend it enough for tourists as well - the island is absolutely stunning, the people are friendly and pace of life is nicer than zanzibar. Beautiful beaches, beautiful forests and amazing diving, it's such a great place to go.
Pros: Fairly central to Chake Chake for the purpose of my visit. Room and public spaces clean, food in restaurant good. Staff helpful and friendly.
Situated 2.2 km from Wete Market, Sharook Riviera Grand Lodge features accommodation with a garden, a shared lounge and a 24-hour front desk for your convenience. Free WiFi is available. Guests at the bed and breakfast can enjoy a continental breakfast. Sharook Riviera Grand Lodge offers a terrace. Both a bicycle rental service and a car rental service are available at the accommodation. Wete Port Pemba Island is 2.8 km from Sharook Riviera Grand Lodge.
Pros: Location, good food, accommodating friendly staff
Cons: Dirty bathroom, shared with others
Cons: As tourist coming to wete first time i expect some information about things to do, touroperators, places to eat. For sure there is not even a restaurant where you can eat as munzungu. They were not ready to prepare supper with notice at 15:00. Because the chef is gone. There was not wifi for 1.5 days. So it was not even possible, to organise your trip on your own. With luck i made the most out of pemba. What its famous for. There other people i met on the way. But that has noving to do with theese guys. They just dont care!
Pros: Thousands of flying foxes every evening right above you! About the propety at all, you have to understand, that you are in Africa, and Pemba is the distant part of this country. Yes, you can have another room for $35 in another countries. But it is locality! It is clean, comphortable place, with a good air-conditioner. The owner is pleasant. I attach a picture here. I found this book at the reception. It speaks about all.
Pros: Hotels choices in Wete are limited. The Grand lodge is the best there is. Though I found it expensive this applies to all hotels in Pemba. The place was extremely clean and hd a homely feel. The staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ok for our one day stay..chapati, eggs, tea and fruit.
Cons: The internet was terrible but this is not the lodge's fault. it was also terrible on my two local lines so my conclusion was the area generally has poor internet. maybe the lodge can explore other reliable suppliers. Apart from that, cannot complain much about anything.
