Great location, excellent value. Nothing really. A very pleasant stay.
WiFi and the clean room Street Noise
Location, location and the scene of alps mountains The staff aren't so friendly beside the room isn't well prepaired
the central location
The people at the reception, especially the morning crew was very freindly and helpful. There was a rather unfriendly lady at the reception desk, who left the recognition and greetings of guests to her colleague.
Central location A bit pricey relative to amenities
To my knowledge, this hotel is the only one in Grenoble to offer a warm, cosy, and tasteful environment, and a bit of class. The location is magnificient. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. There are many small attentions not always found in similarly priced hotels -- free international press, free wifi, free parking, ... Although I warmly recommend the hotel, I has some drawbacks. The renovation starts to be slightly outdated. The standard rooms are small, the beds are the old French standard size beds, i.e., too short for me. Electrical switches can be inconveniently placed, there are too few electric outlets. Street noise is a (minor) problem even with all windows closed.
close to railway station. 24 reception, so able to check out early for train. great location on square
The position of the hotel in the city center next to everything. The room was very small.
The location was superb and the room was nice and warm. Long black hairs came out of the jacuzzi bath when the jets were turned on. My fair haired daughter was in the bath at the time and her body was covered in long back hair. This put me off using the jacuzzi although we had paid extra money for the room especially to have this treat. I re-ran fresh water but when I turned the jacuzzi on the hairs kept coming!! I hope we were just unlucky as all else was clean.
Excellent food and great location in the resort. The rooms are small, the bathroom is tiny and the wifi was very spotty, and did not work at all in the rooms. In 2011, when people sometimes have to check in and work when on vacation, not having wifi in the rooms was really a huge inconvenience. For this reason alone, I probably won't be able to go back, despite the fact that I loved the food and liked the hotel.
Food and location in Les Deux Alpes
The food, we had breakfast and dinner, is very good and the staff very friendly. Every evening there was a very good menu and if you didn't like something it could be changed. We had the Superior Room. Easy access from and to the slopes from. Great hotel!! There is(was) some missinformation on the booking.com website about a discount for this hotel. There is no discount for this hotel. No fault of the hotel.
The staff were really friendly and the hotel was very clean and well positioned. It was very overpriced for what it was. On the second day there our beds were not made up during the day and on the third day there our toilet paper was not replaced - we did address this with reception and it was immediately replaced.
Great location, both for ski slopes and village. Friendly, helpful staff. Great crepes served 4-5.30pm in the lounge area - delicious and most welcome after a long day skiing. Good facilities - pool, sauna and masseures available - just not enough time to enjoy them! We had an an early arrival 12noon and our rooms were ready (on request) and an early check out 6am with no problems gaining access to an early breakfast. Breakfast was good, didn't have dinner there, but restaurant always seemed to be busy. Hotel looks nice from the outside (recently reburbed I believe). The reception area is bustling and welcoming, but the bedrooms could do with updating, especially the bathrooms - and a curtain or blind would have been useful in the toilet and bathroom, as 1 of our 3 rooms was overlooked by the rear ski slopes! Bedrooms small and the 2 south facing ones we booked were very hot - not a problem if you're just sleeping/showering there, but wouldn't like to have to spend much more time in the bedroom! Glad I was there with my 5 girlfriends and not my husband!!
Good location. Right outside ski lift and local shops, bars and restaurants. Small rooms. Not cleaned properly every day.
Great location near ski lifts and off to edge of town so noise was minimized. Stunning views from room balconies. Helpful staff, nice pool, wifi available in lobby. Breakfast was exactly the same every day; some variation would have been welcome.
good location, nice pool/jacuzzi facilities walls exceedinly thin, noise levels unacceptable.
Great location / view of the mountains from the room's balcony. Nice, comfortable bed. Bathroom.
Excellent value for money evening meal Party of School children
proximity to the ski slopes. Ski-in/out. Also located in the centre of the village so convenient for shops/bars, etc. Friendly staff. room was basic but clean and warm. Walls beween rooms a little thin. No minibar/coffee/tea making facilities. TV had only 2 channels. Merited 2 stars in my book rather than the 3 advertised.
relaxed and friendly atmosphere
The location of the hotel was exellent The hotel is looking very tired and dated
To make coffee/tea at the room
everything about the hotel was fine apart from the hotel being advertised as hotel/restaurant (plus large sign on building RESTAURANT ) but i was told the restaurant was not open however the breakfast was good. the restaurant area tables were all prepared for meals plus a large menu on a board but we were told the restaurant was not open ? I can only assume that the restaurant was for the sole use of some sort of convention as we arrived at 5pm a large group of young people were just leaving. the following morning the hotel was full of another group of young people and the restaurant tables were all set
Nothing It is next to the abattiore in an industrial estate with no local amenities. The hotel itself was poorly decorated, presented and not particularly clean.
This hotel does not provide evening meals however there are several good restaurants close by. Rooms are very basic but this is reflected in the price. Value for money hotel in the centre of town.
Just one thing-distance from the railway station. 1. Room was designed for leisure guests not business ones 2. Terrible arrangement of the furniture/ room articles (impossible to put small notebook on the table as there was already big tv, water heater, huge lamp!) 3. In double room (it means occupied by 2 people!) it was impossible that 2 people work with their notebooks (or at least check emails) 4. The room in general looked like an “old person that got new cloth that was made not by a tailor but carpenter”!!!!!)
Location - right opposite train station and bus station ( for mountain buses - and to the Grenoble, Lyon and even Geneva airports ) . Breakfast is simple , but hearty , coffee could be improved ! WiFi very difficult to log on to !
close to train station
Breakfast -- excellent choice and quality, although few cooked dishes No, I thought it was comfortable, well run, and reasonable value
The hotel is comfortable, perfectly situated for travellers (opposite to railway and bus station- easy travel to the Lyon and Geneve airports). The room was large (not always in France), quiet (window to courtyard) and with a nice bathroom. The staff was very friendly. I will stay there once again.
The hotel was ok but very spartan for the money.
Upgrade free to best room
Easy access to Rail station
Both my room & bathroom were clean & comfortable, more importantly the location was perfect a few more english speaking channels on the TV
Basic but clean and comfortable There was no hot water for a shower before going out in the evening after a days walking/sightseeing.
Ease of access Limited services offered
Great value Distance to the town.
excellent stop one of friends rooms not cleaned
Excellent location by the railway station and tram outside the door to the town centre. Excellent weekend rate for a smart hotel
The refurbished rooms are nicely designed and practical, and I really liked the rain shower head in the bathroom. The size of the room - it was rather small and very condensed.
The staff were really helpfull and extremely polite. The hotel was very clean including the rooms. You had access to a Tram across the road which brought you straight into the old town. The rooms were small but well laid out so it didnt matter too much
very friendly stuff, nice bar downstairs, good location and it is amazing that this hotel has so bad reviews. Maybe it is because it was just renovated and not new building. housekeeping was not very good, but it is 6 from 10 so not so bad
The location is conveneint in terms of access to trains. Tl area is however less than satisfactory. Do excrement on the sidewalks and generally cooking smells from the restaurant Internet access is the worst of any hotels that I have stayed in. The internet access was lso not free. If the Hotel is selling vouchers for internet access, they should make sure that the access I savailavle from any room located anywjhere.
The rest room has a nice design you dont have full control on the AC, i tried to switch it on but i couldn't
The Decor No Hotel Bar
Wifi for 5 Euro per day is reasonable. Would stay there again.
Location excellent, good breakfast, Internet very good, rest average Room pretty small, though not unusually small for Grenoble; TV didn't always work
Excellent location for an outstanding price. It doesn't get more central than this and is a minute away from underground parking.
The hotel is right in the heart of Grenoble, walking distance from the station yet within the pedestrianised area of Place Grenettte. Hotel itself is unpretentious but it is very good value. This is the third time we have stayed there and plan to do so again. The only downside of being in the pedestrianised area is the sound of the trams running past - but this is only a minor quibble.
Excellent location. Staffs are all English speaking. Reasonable price. Breakfast is rather expensive.
Interesting old building, wonderful location on old city square, easy walking to all parts of old city, good clean room, good breakfast, and very pleasant and helpful staff.
Friendly and helpful staff, clean room that had been recently renovated and an attractive breakfast room. Felt an effort had been made to update the decor and make the hotel trendy. Only that it was hard to find, even with sat nav. The side of the hotel from which we approached had no sign or indication of it's name so we drove round and round for a while and in the end had to get out and go by foot to find it. Clear directions on booking would be helpful.
Great location. It's very near the train station. The room is very beautiful and comfortable.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The location in the downtown by the tram and near tourist sites was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The location is extremely central, it's easy to move around as 2 tram lines pass in front and it's only 5 min from the trainstation. The building is historical, and has a nice feel to it. My room had a bad smell, of old sweat and smoke. Only after airing it for several hours did it get less, but every day again the smell was there. Breakfast is not included and costs 8.50 euro. For that, I would expect at least to get a decent coffee. However, the automated machine produced an extremely sweet, hot chocolate alike cappuccino that was impossible to drink. The next day I went elsewhere for breakfast.
The superb view across the central square of Grenoble and the mountains. Centrally located, the town centre and public transport are only a few steps away. Good price for such a central hotel. During the stay there were very hot summer nights - which are very stifling in Grenoble as the air doesn't circulate. The hotel has no air conditioning, and no fan was provided. Opening the windows for fresh air meant the room was very noisy. In all, a good hotel for winter, not for summer.
It was in the perfect site. The room was very clean with a great view. The food was exceptional. The people was friendly and helpful.
The services were great.
Good value. Close to Tram Line C so good for the University campus, otherwise a little out from the centre (10 minutes' walk).
the kindlyness of the staff and also the brfeakfast enough... the room was too row...
Good location - within easy reach of the centre plus some nice bars closer at hand. Pleasant staff (including 24-hour reception). Breakfast was good value. And Grenoble itself is a fine little city. There was a lot of building work going on nearby during my stay, meaning noise in the daytime plus quite a lot of cement dust around so the air was drier and less pleasant than one might have hoped for in an Alpine city.
Very nicely decorated in cheerful colors. Extremely friendly staff. Conveniently located close to trams and near main library. Excellent A/C and great free WiFi. Rooms are effectively sound-proofed. Shower was quite small and dark, thanks to an annoying blue shower curtain. Bed was so-so.
The breakfast was the best for my France trip so far. It was a short walk from a Tram stop. It took a while for the staff to attend the front desk. I didn't think the service was represented in the price of the room but these days everything seems to be price tagged over worth.
kind staff, the proximity from the tramway station i did checked that the breakfast was inculuded at the price, however while i was having my breakfast, the owner told me that there is no reason to offer my breakfast and that i should pay for it. finally i didn't pay for it, because the owner found that was miscommuncation between booking.com and her hotel but anyway that was very unpolite to approach to client during having meal.
We needed a nice and uncomplicated hotel and everything was according to our expectations. No luxus class, but we didn't expect that. Clean, nice crew. And: free internet \o/ The coffee could have been a little bit better but breakfast in general was fine.
I liked the location which was really close to the city center and the tram station but... The room servce was unacceptable ( I came back from my city visit tired and looking forward to having a nice rest but what I found it was my bed linen was the old one and they didn't even arrange it properly! ). Besides, they didn't even have the do not disturb tag and many times the housekeeper interrupted my sleep. Another thing that really concerned me was the attitude of the receptionists who always talked in french with me even though it was clear I couldn't speak it.
location,scenery, food and comfort
nice staff and nice view. the water of that area is pretty fresh.
We found one of the best 3 star hotels we have ever stayed at. The room was big and looked as if it had been recently renovated. A very high class establishment.
Kindness of the staff. Location. Corridors need renovation. Restaurant definitely over priced.
Personally I find a rate of Euro 20 for a breakfast in a countryside hotel expensive.
I was looking for a hotel close from the train and bus station and also close from the old city center and this was perfect! It is also close from the great attraction of "the bastille" a fort on top of a hill. Also close from the river. We had a great room with view on the snowy mountains in the back. Our room was purple colors, very modern &nd trendy and with great modern furniture. The bathroom was modern and the shower fantastic. The bed was huge and very confortable. small great attentions like bottles of Evian and sweets. Nice TV and a maximum level for sound which means you cant hear your naighbours TV. Breakfast was excellent and the dinner room colorful. There was a great selection of croissants and yummy french bakery items. There is also a machine to make fresh squizzed orange juice. Staff was very helpful and nice. Only one small minus, there was no safe in the room but the hotel seems safe enough. Would def go back!
The breakfast was sub-standard.
Clean, very good views of the mountains, quiet & helpful. . No kettle in the room. We like to drink tea....lots of it ! Especialy after triathlons !
the views out of the suite
Graet hotel would recommend the hote. Wouid have been nice to have tea and coffe facilities in the room.
welcoming reception, comfortable bedroom and public areas ,good swimming pooland leisure facilities standard of breakfast very poor, drinks in the bar expensiveand beer flat.
Views were great, breakfast was great, seems to cater well for large groups Wifi not great in room and large groups(could also be positive). Staff a little reserved....
The view from my room looking south across the Alps was simply stunning. All the staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome. Plenty of food available for breakfast which was cool as we were on a cycling trip!
Nice room, close to the slopes, easy of parking, friendly staff It would have been nice if the pool had opened earlier, say 7.30 so we could swim before we went to ski.
A good sized room, very comfortable and friendly staff.
Location and service
Good location.Good value. Internet didn't work in the hotel at all.Hard to find entrance to hotel parking.
Convenient for access to Alpe d'Huez. Wifi worked. Pizza restaurant on site reasonable.
Friendly staff The shower
Far away from the city center.
During the morning the fire alarm starts to ring at 7:30 and 9:15... All the guests went to the reception but it was a false alarm, someone forgot a cup near the toaster and startup the fire alarm... Some of the yoghurts on the breakfast buffet were out of date...
The staff was very kind and helpful, the room was small but very clean, the parking is big and safe and the restaurant is excelent. All was almost perfect.
Located easily. Convenient for an overnight stop. Uncomfortable mattress on bed.
The breakfast was really good and cheap, the room was not really big but was ok and the bathroom was superior to the room in quality The 4th bed in the room was in a position that did not allow any grown up member of a family to sleep in it.
the locqtion of the hotel and the location of the pool. Everyone can see you in the pool while they are eating:::
I really appreciated the cleanlyness and the staff. it was a little far from the center but the city buses made it easy to get there.
Staff very friendly. Bar was very small and not always open.
Incredibly helpful owners - Yves went out of his way to help with the logisitics of our travel there and personally took us to help with bike rentals in town. Attached restaurant had amazing food and very friendly service too. Beautiful location!
Very friendly staff ad good location 2/3's way up Alpe d'Huez. Great hotel for the price. Quite a basic small room, particularly the bathroom however comfortable enough.
Quiet location, room just refurbished, welcome on arrival,Restaurant attached and a carpark.Security coded entry for easy access.
Nothing really, its an OK place. They want to charge you 15 euro, if you have a meal in your room.
The views from the room and hotel in general were awe inspiring, the independant attached restaurant was first rate with an excellent choice of menu and also served a good breakfast.
Rooms were clean, views were nice, staff were friendly, restaurant food was good Location was not good for après ski as it's not in the resort and there are only 3 taxis working in alpes d'huez. The hotel was locked when we arrived and so we were not able to drop our luggage off and head to the resort. Noone was picking up our phonecalls and so we ended up standing in the hall for 2 hours before the receptionist arrived and subsequently we lost a day of skiing!! Not a good start to our holiday!
comfort rooms have really nice view and good interiors
Hotel is well located and staff are helpful. Hotel is very basic, bathrooms are tiny.
The hotel is well located at the top end of the ski resort (at the Vanosc end). It is opposite the public elevator that takes you down to the part of the village where you then walk (2 minutes) to the Diable chairlift. It is also next to a staircase that takes you up to the chairlift on the other side of the village, so you have easy access to both sides of the mountains. The hotel is also only a 5 minute walk from the bus stop (Drop Off point Number 4 on the coach company map). The hotel has a cellar storage room for skis and stuff with lockable cupboards to secure your skis/snowboard. There is also a ground floor door from the cellar direct to the street outside. The rooms at the front have a generous balcony. To get to the hotel reception you have to climb a set of outside stairs (or the internal stairs from the basement). Although I was staying on the ground floor (Reception Level) I noticed there was no lift to the upper floors so people with difficulty in climbing stairs may struggle. The hotel staff does help carry your bags to your room though. The hotel is located next to Smithy's Tavern so you should expect some singing in the early hours (around 0430 hrs!) as people leave the pub, but they quickly pass by.
There was somebody available at the reception at midnight to let us in at late arrival Far too expensive in regards to: size of the room - comfort -bathroom facilities
the hotel was warm, well laid out. nobody on reception at 4pm - maybe this is normal. i didn't receive a late key until after the second night.
