Pros: Stunningly beautiful and totally renovated Chateau, set in an extensive and amazing botanical garden that you are free to enjoy. Great breakfast. Incredibly helpful, friendly and social hosts. Looks even better in real life! Don't miss this if you are staying in the region. Great base to visit the Chateaus from.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!! The owner ... An Army veteran .... was the host of hosts. His attention to detail ... welcoming breakfast ... spectacular gardens ... and assurance of our comfort ... was equal to none! So deeply saddened to have to leave. Already planning our next visit!
Cons: I'm not someone that is easily impressed ... but there was nothing to dislike. The attention to detail in every room .... one more spectacular than the other ... made us feel like royalty in a real castle!! There are no room numbers ... rooms are color coded. I stayed in the Pink room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The historic place owned by the family of Antoine has been meticulously renovated with all modern facilities of a 5 star hotel. Rooms are wonderfully comfortable and the garden idyllic. Breakfast with Antoine and his partner was educational and gastronomic. We will return and we will send our friends.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: 15th century castle with 35000 square meter gardens, it’s one of my best experience and made a wondering ending of our road trip in north France. The room is decorated in royal style with modern facilities like bathtub and air conditioner. We can see the beautiful skyline and garden for on the balcony in the room. The breakfast is good and some raw material is organic and made in their own farm and garden. I like this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect stay with the perfect hosts on a beautiful garden and property that is rich with history and close to all the places you might visit in the area. Highly recommend!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: It took me a few days to get a moment to rate this very exceptional place. We are still under the spell and most of all Pascal’s most dedicated hospitality. Having been all over the globe and in very special places indeed Le manoir de Maucartier feels like breathing the air of friendlyness and sophistication. Creativity combined with love for detail and always these little glimpses into a past where peacefulness meant leisure.
Cons: Everything was enjoyable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved staying in Pascalon. The decor was lovely, the breakfast was delicious and Pascal is a wonderful host. The added bonus of the spacious gardens and animals was a great surprise.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Pascal is a brilliant host and excellent chef, our dinner was superb.
Cons: Our bedroom was in the attic on the hottest day of the year!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The furnishings were very tasteful Pascal was so hospitable and couldn’t do enough to make our stay wonderful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is beautiful, we were extremely well received. The breakfast really the best part. Everything was freshly and deliriously prepared. I was an amazing experience.
Cons: I have absolutely nothing negative to say, everything was perfect.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Pascal was the perfect host, cheerful, friendly and very very accommodating. He could not have done more for us during our 4 day stay. Meals were excellent (breakfast and one dinner) The owner was not as friendly - but Pascal did make up for it. We loved him
Cons: steep stairs to the bedrooms on 2nd floor.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Host, food, gardens and room all superb
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pascal has an eye for detail. He is warm and open. An artist in hospitality, who truly knows how to make a guest feel comfortable and welcomed into his sumptuous manoir. Our "family room" was an entire house which could have been set up for a stylish, home magazine's photo shoot. Let me not forget to mention the extra large, claw foot tub with seemingly endless hot water. The property that this gracious estate is set upon, is a painters dream. We had plans to visit castle after castle but had a difficult time leaving to sight see. It was breathtakingly perfect. Take time to stroll about the gardens, ponds, gazebos, the sweet micro farm as well as the properties other buildings & former stables. Breakfast in the mornings was an event which included fresh baked (that morning) croissants, home made yogurt, with Pascals own jams. I recommend the soft boiled eyes. Classical music, candle light and coffee, in adorable large bowls instead of cups, were evidence of Pascals flare for the dramatic and attention to detail. Pascal's sweet little dog Louisette, kept a piece of my heart. For some reason my photos won't load into this review. It's a shame because I have some stunning shots.
Cons: Only the smallest of complaint to make was that the stove was not hooked up for cooking in the room. It also, since it was billed as a kitchen equipped room, could have had few dishes (which I was able to get from Pascal's kitchen when asked for, elegantly delivered on gold embossed trays and maybe a trash bin.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful yard, confortabal room, substantial breakfast, and thoughtful host. Everything is perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing, perfect ambiance, host, garden, rooms, food. It's like a place taken from a fairytale! Heaven on Earth !
Cons: Nothing not to like in this perfect place
Les Fleurons B&B - Amboise - Building

Facilities for the preparation of coffee and tea are available in your room. A continental breakfast featuring local and organic products is served daily. It can be taken in the dining room or on the sheltered terrace during warmer months. Additional restaurants and markets can be found within 500 metres of the guest house. Leonardo da Vinci’s house, which is only 1.9 km from the B&B. Chenonceau Chateau is 22 minutes by car and Tours is a 31-minute drive. Amboise Train Station is 1.5 km away.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts, Jim and Carolyn, were fantastic and extremely helpful with every question we had! The sitting room was lovely and looked out onto the river. It was a great place to relax at the end of the day. Breakfast was lovely and a fun place to meet other travelers and share travel tips! You have a choice of rooms with the river view or Chateau view. We chose the river view which was beautiful particularly at dusk.
Cons: Unfortunately the B&B does not have air conditioning. We had one very hot night and had to open the windows. Because we were on the river view side, there was a lot of car noise in the evening. The street on the Chateau view side is quieter for those who like to sleep with the windows open. Visitors should also be aware that some rooms have a tub instead of a shower. Our room had a tub which didn't work as well for my husband who likes taking long showers. We have no complaints about either of these items. These are just things to consider when selecting the rooms.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Fantastic locations with room views.Pretty property would stay again.Breakfast light expected a cooked style so boiled egg didn't do it for me.No safe ,some stairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was great to meet English speaking travelers and compare notes at breakfast. We got some great recommendations for restaurants and shops nearby. Our hosts were incredibly gracious and helped us through some of our travel hitches. Word to the wise: Plan ahead for whatever tours you want to take and rent a car if you are staying in Amboise!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful hosts. Great proximity to attractions and restaurants. Spacious room with a separate little sitting area.
Cons: Accommodation was overpriced and breakfast was a little ‘run of the mill’ compared to other properties. No TV at the property was a little dissapointing.
so troglo - Lavardin - Bedroom
4
9.6 Excellent (209 reviews)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: So Troglo was a unique place to stay - most rooms are troglodyte (a few not) - and this was brilliant in the heatwave (July 19) as our room was lovely and cool (and very stylish too). Isabelle the hostess was very welcoming and relaxed; she made an amazing breakfast for us with homemade bread, brioche and cake. We didn't have the evening meal but judging from the breakfast that would be excellent. The house has a lovely terrace with views overlooking the beautiful valley and a really nice pool as well. Lavardin itself was an unexpected gem with a spectacular ruined chateau, historic church and lovely river.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The welcome, the view, the food (we have been lucky enough to eat Michelin star food around the world and would put Isabelle’s cooking on a level with the best). We also liked the decor, the cleanliness, the hosts sense of style, the history, the village & the river. All this in easy travelling distance to magical places like Chateau Chaumont and it’s international garden festival. Thank you Isabelle & Philip for a lovely few days.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Isabelle and her husband are wonderful hosts and we had superb meals cooked by Isabelle THe breakfasts were the best I have ever had! Great to be in a troglodyte accommodation during a heatwave Great to have a lovely pool
Cons: Would like a room with twin beds
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The dinner was excellent as was the cafe I shared with Isabelle the morning I left. I didn't have breakfast so no opinion other than to say if dinner was excellent than her breakfast would be delicious too. The shower was large and well lit
Cons: All was as expected or better
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Lovely stay in a unique place. The welcome is warm, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and the food is superb.
Cons: It was a return visit, so there were no surprises. The evening meal is a little expensive, but the cooking is magnificent. Please use jugs of water instead of plastic bottles.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: an unbelievably excellent experience! What a host !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The evening meal and breakfast was outstanding. Our host was lovely and everything was home-made, including the cocktails! We loved the ambience and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend this B&B and would return again with friends and family.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My stay at So Troglo was a real highlight of my trip to France. Isabelle was so generous and welcoming that it was like staying with a good friend. The troglodyte room was beautifully furnished and equipped, and I appreciated the terrace and sitting room available for guests. I recommend that everyone has breakfast to be able to appreciate another factor of Isabelle's hospitality. Fruit is from her orchard, bread, pastries and jams made by her, and all presented with the utmost sense of style. Lavardin is a lovely village and the surrounding countryside is breathtakingly beautiful. I hope I will return for longer. Thank you Isabelle
Cons: It was all perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was unusual, in troglodyte cave, but extremely comfortable and well equipped. The hospitality was excellent and the breakfast exceptional.
Cons: Nothing to dislike
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Isabelle is a extremely kind host

Pros: Absolutely everything was fantastic. The hotel is right in the middle of the valley and it was very convenient for us to visit the castles. Very clean and quiet room. The owners are the loveliest people. I do not know how they made that pear and chocolate cake for the breakfast, but it is worth to visit this place just to taste it. Highly recommended.
Cons: The internet connection was available only at some places of the room.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Homey atmosphere Simple but very lovely breakfast Foosball in the common room Very quiet
Cons: Nothing :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I was met by Nathalie and the check-in process and welcome to the hotel is seamless. This is really a very nice boutique hotel. Nathalie has gone to a great deal of effort into making the place what it is. The attention to detail that she has put in is second to none! The room was perfect, the bed is comfortable and there is a flat screen TV. The ensuite bathroom/toilet was perfect. The décor throughout this hotel is idyllic. Everything feels clean and well maintained. The room was a little tight on space but actually sufficient for me. I was traveling alone. Maybe other rooms are slightly larger. Breakfast is entirely substantial. A very nice selection including orange juice, fresh fruits nuts and various breads and jams with endless coffee. All laid out with incredible detail in a really nice bright breakfast room. I like an egg for breakfast, maybe Nathalie might consider offering one for future guests. I think there is limited parking at the hotel, but there is also plenty of free parking on the adjacent street with not a long walk to the hotel. Location-wise, I walked into Tours. About a 30 minute fast paced walk for me but that helped with my step-count! Maybe a bit far for some with youngsters. There is a bus rout (number 10 I think) and a train station very nearby. Tours is beautiful and will be worth the visit no matter how long your stay will be. Advise you don't drive into Tours.
Cons: There is nothing I didn't like about this hotel.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome from Nathalie, who checked beforehand when we would arrive. Close to the railway station for an early start in the morning.
Cons: Nowhere to eat close by, but it was easy to get a bus or train into Tours where there was lots of choice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were looking for a hotel close to the St. Pierre des Corps train station. We always like to stay in interesting places, as opposed to generic hotel--and this was entirely charming.
Cons: Can't think of a thing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location to visit Tours, Le Skippy restaurant located across road from B&B was perfect, nice food, very helpful staff. B&B interiors were 'Works of Art', host very welcoming.
Cons: Unfortunately, we felt the continental breakfast was a little limited, although presentation was amazing, warm toast/ Croissants as an option would have been a good choice, plus a selection of fruit not a chosen choice of one particular fruit. Plus, maybe an option of eggs on toast. But I guess this will all depend on demand! Just a thought! Still enjoyed our stay and would return regardless of breakfast option.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: what a fantastic place décor staff helpfulness top marks

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The loft is located in a charming village. The whole property is elegant and relaxing. We were greeted by a lantern by the street. Our host was the most welcoming and he really goes out of his way to make our experience comfortable and memorable. Our room was beautiful. We loved the experience of sleeping in a cave. We loved the shower, the view of the gardens, the decor, the sweets, the extra blankets (for winter). About a 100 meters from the property is a boulangerie with delicious breads.
Cons: My only regret is we didn't stay longer.

Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel grounds are beautiful, as is the interior décor, and the room was very artistically decorated. The breakfast was magnificent, everything you could want, and very appetising. Summary - beautiful but NOT comfortable.
Cons: The hotel was very difficult to locate - at the other end of the village from the GPS address, and no sign outside to find the premises. The hotel garden includes caged wild birds - not nice. The room was very cold and the radiator barely tepid. We had to use the hair-drier to try to warm the room. Unfortunately there was no kettle, or tea, or coffee. I know some French don't provide kettle, tea, or coffee in the room, but with international guests most other French hotels now supply kettle, tea and coffee. There were insufficient electric sockets to plug a laptop, or to charge a mobile phone, without unplugging the TV and bedside light. The desk was too small to fit a laptop with a TV, and was wicker-wood, so a mouse won't work on it. The shower looked beautiful - but impractical - no shelf for toiletries whilst showering.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An absolute piece of heaven, close to most Loire Valley Castles. Amazing welcoming staff and out of this world breakfast. Definitely recommend if you are up to spent some time in French country side
Cons: Mostly everything + the river at the back of the courtyard that is good for fun fishing with kids

Pros: Big rooms, great pool, lovely meal and close to the centre of town. There was also private parking which was great. The meal in the restaurant was brilliant - I was really happy with the stay. Pros: The Chateau was excellent in every regard. Rooms were spacious, clean and had great bathrooms. The 24/7 bar/dining options were very convenient and had a wide choice. The restaurant opened at lunch to allow my wife's 50th Birthday celebrations even though service is not normally available at this time. If you are visiting Amboise there is only one place to stay; Le Clois d'Amboise!!
Cons: Nothing, it was all great
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very pretty

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is charming and romantic. The setting was beautiful and quiet with a large lawn, garden and pool. The location was good- a short walk to the center of town. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was sparkling clean and spacious with nice towels and robes. We appreciated the parking even if it was tight! The staff was wonderful- especially Gregoire who welcomed us, helped with our luggage and gave great recommendations for restaurants in town for lunch. The hotel's on site restaurant was classy and quite good. We only wished we had stayed longer!
Cons: Breakfast was extra and was just essentially the standard continental fare.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Le Clos d'Amboise is a very nice and refined villa, with a garden and swimming pool very beautiful The villa is in a very good position in the center of Amboise, and everything is made with attention to detail Nice interior design and good services

Pros: Beautiful old Manoir which was meticulously clean with a wonderful breakfast experience. 5 minutes from everything in Amboise
Cons: All good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming staff. Room was excellent. Air co and spotless. Looked like it had been decorated and furnished just for our visit. Recommended to an excellent local restaurant.Breakfast included locally sourced produce. Great location I very pretty town.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful apartment with full kitchen and 3 full bathrooms. Perfect for a family of four or 2 couples. We enjoyed the sauna and hot tub.
Cons: No complaints
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The property is immaculate and offers private gated parking. The quality of the furniture, towels, and bedding is exemplary. The beauty of the building is remarkable. However, we felt the welcome to be a bit cold (we were 2.5 hours for check-in), and the walls are not sound-proofed.
Cons: The lack of sound-proofing of the walls. This is why I would not rate it as a 'romantic' place to stay - one can hear the conversations in the next room, so any 'intimate enthusiasm' needs to be curbed. Everything else was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location , room , amenities
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: We stayed in a chalet. The jacuzzi was very good.
Cons: There was a certain stinginess about small things. The soap container in the shower was empty but because reception is only manned for very limited hours there is nothing you can do about it. There was no wifi connection in our room at all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic site near the city centre. We were impressed by the general ambiance of the Manoir together with its swimming pool, open all summer. We were close to the chateau and town but it was still quiet in the apartment and grounds.
Cons: It was very hot when we visited and air conditioning would have been appreciated though we realise the cost would not be justified.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a really lovely hotel. Spacious, bright rooms, spotlessly clean and a really nice pool and gardens too. I'd definitely recommended it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good location, 5 minutes walk into town. Very warm and friendly staff.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcome and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast basket was great but too much for two, so on the 2nd day we shared 1 breakfast. Only 5minutes walk into town so excellent location.
Cons: It was very hot during our stay, and even with a fan in the room , we could have done with air conditioning.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the decor, cleanliness, hospitality. Would highly recommend.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of the owners was outstanding. The room was very clean, nice size and bed was extra firm which we love. Nice breakfast (French style) . The location is convenient for day trips in the Liore valley and is close to Tours (city) if you want to drive into the city for dinner.
Cons: The shower had a very shallow basin and no glass door, so after showering the bathroom floor is very wet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: "L'assiette fraicheur" offered in the evening. The excellent personal attention accorded to us as guests
Cons: One very minor complaint. For a property of this high quality, we believe that plastic coffee/tea cups located in the bedroom should be replaced by normal porcelain.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcome and although there was no restaurant, the hotel were happy to prepare a nice cold plate with a bottle of wine for us!
Cons: Narrow access road and no restaurant.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, the evening meal of local produce was delicious after some very hot days. The shady and sunny terraces to the front of the hotel, under trees and equipped with some comfortable seating were just perfect. The owners were very welcoming, kind and thoughtful.
Cons: Air conditioning in the bedroom would have been welcome, but perhaps it was exceptionally hot on our second visit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A delicious dinner served in living room, with low nice music. The couple made everything perfect. Relaxing stay!.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and garden. The owners are absolutely charming and go the extra step to please their guests

Pros: The breakfast was not what was expected for the price paid.
Cons: breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Following a long delay thanks to Eurotunnel, we arrived 5 hours late and a bit grumpy. We were welcomed warmly to the Hotel and they provided a delicious plate of Evening side dishes and a bottle of wine on our own private patio. The room was spacious and the bed very very comfortable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful little getaway! great breakfast!

Many local tourist attractions including the Chapelle Saint-Georges and La Rabouilleuse-École de Loire can easily be reached with a short drive. In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. When it comes to Rochecorbon hotels, the Hotel les Hautes Roches is highly regarded for its excellent facilities.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The views, pool, cave rooms. We arrived in the hottest day in French history and the room was so cool and nice to be in, loved it.
Cons: The bathroom looked a bit old dated.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I needed a room to make a business call at check out time . The staff could not have been more accommodating and printed out material for me and found me a quiet room . Super. All in all though very good including dinner on terrace.
Cons: Having stayed in other Relais and chateaux hotels later (including the St James Bouilliac) the breakfast was extremely average and not up to their usual standards
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is unique in that several rooms were built into rock walls and were beyond compare. It was very beautiful and spacious.
Cons: Breakfast should be more than a continental breakfast in a Relais & Chateaux location or if that is what it is, it should be included in the room price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful hotel overlooking the magnificent Loire river. We had a very spacious room with a large comfortable bed. The hotel restaurant is a fantastic place to eat with incredible food and excellent service. The hotel staff could not have done more to make us feel welcome - they were exceptional. We only stayed for 2 nights but we will definitely stay again.
Cons: Nothing, everything was wonderful.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is inside stone build structure over a cliff. Very cooling effect inside the room and this is a special feature of the hotel. Stayed for a night and we enjoy the beautiful view over the river, staff are very nice and we have a relax stay experience.
Cons: No elevator maybe due to the limitation of the stone house design.. staff helped us move up all the luggages up and down really appreciate their services!!!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Living literally inside a cliff near a great river, but with the comfort of a luxury hotel rather than a cave -- it's a very special experience worth trying ;) And the restaurant is not cheap but worth all the money
7.5 Good
Pros: We liked the bedrooms being from a cave. We ate in the restaurant the food was delicious but the waiting staff ignored us
Cons: Service was very slow
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms situated in the caves. They were very spacious, bed was very comfortable and the view amazing
Cons: The breakfast was too poor
10.0 Excellent
Pros: food fantastic..dinner service slow..we waited 20 minutes before being given a menu...
Cons: see above
4.5 Okay
Pros: Location ….. and that was all
Cons: Room - 150 steps up and maybe for some romantically built into the cliff - however no thought of air circulation!!! The drains also stunk in the bathroom, Dinner -overpriced and mediocre to say the least I will certainly never be returning for either an overpriced room or a overpriced dinner!
Domaine des Hauts de Loire - Onzain - Building

9.1 Excellent (197 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Domaine des Hauts de Loire in Onzain, you'll be in the historical district and 7 minutes by car from Chateau de Chaumont. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely Domaine set in a wooded forest with acres of trails to walk and ponds to ponder. We "stole" the idea to visit from a Backroads Catalog, and were so happy we did. The Chateau is gorgeous, beautifully restored, and well maintained. The bathrooms and amenities are modern. Staff friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant and the Bistro were better than some of the places we ate in Paris. Onzain is a small town, and the Chateau is on the outskirts of town, down a private lane. So, if you want to feel like you have gotten away from the crowds at castles and wineries, this is the ticket. It is fairly central in the Loire Valley, so a good base from which to visit surrounding Castles.
Cons: Like I said, it is isolated. While the train does stop in Onzain, there is no transportation from the station to the hotel, and no cell service once you get there. So we got lucky and met a local couple who drove us in their car to the Domaine. There are no bikes to borrow or rent on site. We had to pay 50 Euro for a Taxi to take us to the nearest place we could rent a car. So rent a car and drive here.
7.5 Good
Pros: The place is unbelievably beautiful and the setting is tranquil. The room (as well as bed) is huge and luxurious and the dinner is exquisite!
Cons: We could only start dinner at 9 and then we were told it is too late for the gastronomic menu. A pity no one told us before the time as we only had an one night booking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is beautiful! Location is amazing and I wish we had time to explore the area more, but just walking in woods/gardens around the property or staying by the pool is lovely. You can also play croquet and tennis if you wish. The rooms are lovely ( we stayed in a large double room in the coach house with a view of the kitchen garden) and it was comfy and clean with amazing furniture. When I go back to explore the area more I will stay here again.
Cons: The toilet was separate from the bathroom itself in our room, and you had to leave the toilet and walk to the bathroom in order to wash your hands. A small sink in the toilet would have been nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is quite simply superb, from the moment of arrival to the moment of leaving. Very welcoming staff in both the hotel and the restaurant, also a beautiful, spacious room. Sheer unpretentious quality.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, welcoming and great food
Cons: Nothing but it did rain while we were there!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast. Very friendly staff. Beautiful house and setting
Cons: Didn’t like hollow fibre pillows and duvet Hotel booked taxi for us to go to Blois. Told us we could put the cost on the bill. They couldn’t. So slightly embarrassing having no cash when we got back
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It is wonderful Hotel, although you need drive the car to there. The large garden, historical accommodation, hospitality welcome drinking, and delicious meal, the breakfast is better compare to the continental styles. It is real relax place to spend your holiday. If I visit to Loire Valley again, I will chose Domaine des Hauts de Loire again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, the staff were attentive the property warm and welcoming
Cons: Having to leave
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was nice. High class. Our bed was very comfortable. The hotel food was very good, the breakfast was good. The staff very kind and helpful. The garden beautiful! If we are around again, we wish to comeback.
Cons: The only bad thing was to find hair from previous guests (or cleaning lady) on the toilets. But the overall cleaning was good.

Pros: Love the restaurant. Fabulous meal

Pros: Angelique is exceptionally is friendly and graceful. She takes excellent care of her guests to assure that they find a home away from home. The property has ample secure parking, surrounded by vineyards. Angelique knows the area very well and can thus offer excellent advice for sights, restaurants, etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The landlady was very friendly and helpful, she made us feel very comfortable and gave us nice recomendations. The room was very big, and the bed really comfortable. Wide parking. Good WiFi. Very good breakfast, with different choices every day. There was a common area with a sink, a microwave and a fridge, and brochures with tourist information.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was very comfortable, well decorated and laid out. Slight mold evident on tiles behind bath a little surprising considering the standard of the rest of the hotel. Restaurant offered very good menu and wine list impressive.
Cons: Pool and spa not open into evening nor before 10 am
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel was really nicely decorated. Quite modern with a lovely view from the pool area.
Cons: The pool could have been slightly cleaner. Also the staff were very unhelpful. When I thought I'd left my kindle in the room after we left, I phoned up once and they asked me to phone back in an hour after they'd checked the room. When I phoned after an hour back the woman on the phone suggested we drive back to the hotel to check the room ourselves as she didn't have time. I think that's extremely poor service for an otherwise very nice hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good food and good spa
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly and welcoming and the hotel was lovely. The food in the restaurant was wonderful. The spa was small but nice and the pool and terrace were great to use in the evening sun after a day's travelling
Cons: The automatic room entrance light kept going on and off at the beginning of the night - until we discovered the hotel cat had crept in the window earlier and was trying to get out of the door...! Nothing apart from having to leave the next morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location, modern, elegant and very clean rooms, very comfortable bed, excellent air conditioning, excellent gastronomic restaurant, good wi fi. easy parking, lovely terrace for pre-dinner drinks,
Cons: suggestion for the hotel: better fruit selection for breakfast
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The host was really kind and smiling. The restaurant and facilities were very good. We had a great time!
Cons: Breakfast was a bit expensive but was really good and did not lack anything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All very good . Lovely staff and owner very helpful and friendly
Cons: Everything very professional Only criticism is that for us could have done with some quiet music as background when in restaurant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable rooms, great AC, easy parking, good WiFi. Excellent restaurant. Nice teracce facing the garden. Quiet!!!! Very nice staff.
Cons: Would have loved some more seasonal fruit for breakfast ie strawberries, raspberries etc.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were perfectly attentively we wanted for nothing!! The Spa facilities were fabulous, we were lucky enough to have them to ourselves one afternoon. The bedroom was fantastic very big and roomy and the mini bar was included. We had dinner in the restaurant the first night, it was one of the best meals we've ever had and we had a perfect table overlooking the gorgeous garden.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent welcome, very nice and quiet room. The spa and the restaurant were top class with a special mention for the chef and the team who deserve stars if they don’t already have. The jacuzzi is in front of the windows facing the green garden and that enhance the relaxation while inside. The reception staff makes you feel very welcome and special and would do anything to arrange any requirement or need. This hotel is a little gem in the Loire valley and really worthy to stay in.
Cons: The hairdryer is a bit weak, but it’s a minuscule detail when everything else is far beyond expectations

Cons: Open bathroom, lack of door in shower
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delightful proprietor, wonderful decor, themed to La Fontaine Fables. Homely feel and delightful wooded surroundings along edge of river. A great place to stay.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host, Martial, is wonderful. He is friendly, approachable and has great recommendations of places to see in the local area. Our room was beautifully decorated with lots of cool, quirky details and very spacious. We stayed with our 11 month old son and there was plenty of room for his travel cot. When we went down to breakfast, we found that Martial had already put out a beautiful vintage high chair for our baby. Breakfast was really lovely - brioche, pastries, muesli, speciality tea or coffee, local honey, local juice, local yogurt and loads of homemade jam. I wish we could have stayed longer so we could have spent some time chilling out on the property's little island or having a game of tennis! All correspondence with Martial was fantastic. We paid twice by accident but he made sure it was resolved immediately. Would love to return.
Cons: Nothing! But this property is right up my alley. If you don't like exposed beams, the odd creaky floorboard and vintage stuff then this might not be the one for you.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very quirky and memorable decor and furnishings. Very much enjoyed the experience. Lots of attention to detail. Lovely breakfast with delicious homemade jams. Very helpful and friendly host.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet beautiful location, very unspoiled, do not expect 5 star hotel embellishments. Good fishing Martial the owner and host is charming is extremely helpful. Dogs are made Welcome.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The place takes one pleasantly back to an imagined past! The thematic decoration (based on La Fontaine's Fables, many of which are now somewhat universal) is obsessively implemented in every detail of the place! The building is old but very clean and located on a beautiful riverside. In addition to the natural and designed beauties, and even above all, monsieur Martial, his sister, and other staff are very nice and hospitable! And local cheese and jams are very delicious in breakfast! :)
Cons: As a result of the building's age and its wooden structure, every step in rooms or on stairs makes noise!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we stepped out of our car after travelling 5 hours from Bergerac and were greeted by Frederique and his daughter, we sensed our stay was going to be special. The property is stunning - peaceful, idyllic, full of history and subtly luxurious. Our room was pristine with lovely finishes like cosy bed throws, coffee and tea making facilities, bottles of water and Hugo Boss towels and flannels. We had considered having dinner in Ambroise even though a meal at the property had been previously offered during our correspondence with Frederique. Within five minutes of arriving and seeing our host’s genuine warmth and enthusiasm to make our stay as good as possible we decided to proceed with dinner at Le Moulin with our nearly three year old and we couldn’t have wished for a better meal - simple but delicious home-cooked food, a couple of carafes of local wine and a gorgeous outlook over the lake. Breakfast was gorgeous, complete with homemade jams and the biggest pain au chocolate we’ve ever seen! Thank you to Frederique for being a perfect, sincere and warm host. You made the end of our holiday simply the best.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Charming, great location, beautiful outside area, great bathroom, superior staff
Cons: Uncomfortable room, very hot, noisy.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very central location and our room was clean. Olivier & Samuel the two staff members were polite, helpful and extremely welcoming.
Cons: We believe the hotel to be very expensive compared to the many hotels we have stayed in around the world. The hotel seemed to understand-staffed. During our stay there only appeared to be one staff member working at a time, except at breakfast when there was a very helpful lady assisting. There was no onsite restaurant or bar, the limited drinks selection was served from a small kitchen. The pool area/garden is looking rather tired and is in need of some TLC.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great find, beautiful building, very friendly staff.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room (number 8) in attic with lovely views out skylight windows to the town, trees and the Royal Chateau. Very large and well-appointed bathroom. Quaint and charming old building in quiet area, with a lovely garden and swimming pool. Convenient for restaurants and visiting the Chateaux.
Cons: Lift was out of order for first three days of our stay. Toilet was unreliable probably because of a water pressure problem, and despite notifying staff it was not fixed. We were advised that the swimming pool was not available until mid-June. Staff at reception constantly changed and were not very efficient.
