I have been staying at this hotel when visiting China work, it is a comfortable hotel, and staff are very nice. On this occasion, my colleague forgot something in a taxi when getting dropped off, hotel staff by the name of Lily Yu was so amazing she went out of her way to track the taxi down and get my colleague back her belongings. We couldn’t thank Lily Yu enough. Besides this the hotel is always clean and comfy to look forward to.
The executive happy hour was amazing, food and drinks with a great view and English TV news. We enjoyed the taste of home in the afternoons. The service was above and beyond. Rooms were clean and cool temps on hot days. They gave us a card in Chinese so we could always make it back easily in any cab. The concierge was very helpful and got us cabs to all the places we wanted to go, like the pandas and Jyn Li street. We walked around the neighborhood around the hotel and found great shopping and lots of people watching. A park with lively walking paths and exercise equipment was right across the street. There also was a Starbucks only a few feet from the front door! What a beautiful place to stay and explore Chengdu, at a fraction of the cost for a similar hotel in New York or LA!!
I can’t say one negative thing about our experience.
The staff were delightful and helpful - many with good English (but if they didn't have good English, they always sought help; so I never felt that I was being ignored. The breakfast is quite good for westerners - may not wish to have the chili paste in the omelette! And they offered a British-Aussie favourite of "Fish'n'Chips" on the room service menu and happily served this in the restaurant too. Good value!
Unfortunately the hotel swimming pool was full of swimming lessons (presumably local "subscription members" - it would have been nice to have one or two lands for guests of the hotel to share. On departure the Millennium Hotel branded bus was departing to where I was going - the airport - but it wasn't available for me to catch. I ended up in a taxi about a minute after the bus left ...,, so if this is a regular departure perhaps they could allow individuals on the bus - a little lateral thinking guys...
We have stayed here several times last couple years and the hotel only gets better. I check in with quite a cough form pollution in INDIA, The desk clerk ordered a ginger lemon tea. Someone was always able to help. Rooms and facilities are well taken care. General Manager all ways pops up to say . Great hotel in one of chengdu's hip expat areas
