Great value for 2 * None
Friendly staff, good beer Twin room beds were end to end as very small room
Friendly helpful attitude of proprietors Not keen on dogs in the dining area of the bar -although could probably havev eaten in the dining room if I'd asked.
We liked the relaxed, easy atmosphere and great breakfast. There was nothing we didn't like
We had a very nice cosy en-suite room in the attic (but our friends had others that were quite small). The pub staff was very friendly. Food: the restaurant only serves bar meals (didn't eat it, but it's a missed opportunity), the breakfast was mediocre.
Staff friendly and welcoming There were no bad points
Good location in Killin, easy to find. Free wifi and good breakfast.
The Hotel was spotless and very relaxed and friendly we will go back
Super room - Dochart with excellent fittings & views.Very good breakfast. Friendly staff None
Lorraine&Derek are exactly the kind of personable, kind people who will help out and make recommendations for you that make sense. They even picked me up at the rail station since I got into Stirling as Derek was coming back home from town. not a thing ;)
staff were very pleasant and restaurant was lovely, the roof terrace was lovely too look out off if the weather was nicer. pool and spa were amazing
The roof top restaurant and bar were extremely comfortable . Very good service, polite staff and fantastic panoramic views. It would be a place I would consider returning to . Not easy to find within the town!
Staff were excellent first class service. Food was also first class. Overall 11 out of 10 ***** None
location was great with a fabulous view from the top floor restaurant, the surrounding garden was also very nice and located within short driving distance from loch earn, the trossachs national park, famous grouse experience service in restaurant was very slow, food was not as good as hoped from advertisements and room decor and size was more travel lodge than castle. Also lots of noise from corridor and adjoining rooms, there was a large gap between the bottom of our door and the floor!
Beautiful setting and lovely old hotel Room was in n'new wing' and was very small. Bathroom was compact but ok.
Reception staff extremely helpful in arranging my breakfast earlier than served, as I had to leave early for business Having to go outside to the pool, that wasn't clear from the description
Room was very small. Only had single headboard so perhaps was single room made in to double
Fantastic relaxed atmosphere. Meal in the restaurant was superb - butternut squash risotto was out of this world. Room was very small - should have been a single room!
Excellent Staff, cleanliness. No Pool. Dinner three of the ladies meals/steak/scallops overcooked, roast root veg turned out to be minute pieces of frozen veg. Very poor did not hav dinner on second night.
very comfortable bed, good food and lovely quiet pool-we had it to ourselves! the rather unattractive extension to the original castle that makes up a large part of the accommodation was a bit of a let down
Cute little room. Decent discount offered for powercut in room (50% off) cosy pub vibe. Lovely wee town. Breakfast was decent with generous portions gorgeous surrounding areas, and location of hotel Room smelt a bit damp. Heating only on with meter. Power cut in evening. Dinner- were ignored by a coupe of staff and eventualy had to ask for a table. Staff seemed a bit flustered and inexperienced, but trying their best. Food okay- nothing special and a wee bit of a wait.
Nice bar with log fire. Friendly staff. Room was in need of modernisation. Peeling wallpaper, mildew in bathroom.
Excelent staff who made us really welcome and couldn't have been more helpful; food was superb; fantastic atmosphere There were none - even the weather was good!
Very stylish, great view, historical building, atmospheric bar, friendly and helpful staff. Sticky room window. Lack of shower, tv etc in rooms.
Nice presentation of room and great bathroom. Great view from room of falls! Friendly staff.very nice breakfast- good quality and well presented. Electric socket in hall not fitted ( hanging wires from it- I presume disconnected? )-Lack of info in room such as fire reg/ evacuation information / hot water/ breakfast
Good Food & friendly service Bit run down
1) a strange smell on the landing and in the room (2) room seemed to be directly above a function room where an excessive volume of noise was coming from to extent the room vibrated!! thereby unable to sleep.
Had a great night, central Callendar and the room was very clean. The food was great.
Excellent service! Attentive staff, but not overly so.....just polite and friendly. Friendly atmosphere.
It was well situated, rooms were Breakfast was very good and staff was friendly no.I'm very satisfied
There was a warm welcome. Service was good . The hotel is well positioned in the town and has good off-road parking, and is a good base for visiting the surrounding area. I was well satisfied. I have not read the guest reviews.
Breakfast Bit noisy when the bar closed
Convenient location and friendly staff. Got into rooms early to prepare for family wedding in town - very helpful. All fine.
very friendly staff, very central, good size family room.
The location The price charged was ot for the standard of the hotel. The place was dirty, the food was horrible
Nothing The original room was disgusting and uncleaned we complained and were given a better room
Nothing Reception staff were not "welcoming". The hotel was of a very basic standard, "felt" dirty, needed substantial upgrading throughout.
The central location of the hotel, Excellent breakfast & plenty of choice, friendly staff. It appears rather shabby, could do with a total revamp bedrooms in particular.
excellent breakfast and staff very helpful unfortunately bar closed too early on sunday night 11 15pm no radio in room
Value for money - we got what we expexted for the price. The room was obviously ready for re furbishment, especially the shower area but we realised that with such a good offer the hotel was obviously using their worst rooms.
A beautiful place and surroundings.Would definetly recommend to other friends and family to stay here. Only concern was, that the air con was not working correctly
The hotel was in a really good location, with superb grounds to enjoy. The leisure club was excellent and the staff were very helpful.
Excellent situation , with magnificent view.
We have been going to this hotel for over 25yrs & just love it it is so central for everything, touring shopping golf & walking so close to the historic town of Stirling. New decor slightly on the dark side in dining room.
Friendly relaxing atmosphere
leisure facilities were put in a famoly room with small double bed, decor needs some updating
Beautiful location and friendly staff. Only one small lift. Expect to wait.
The situation of the hotel. The helpfulness of the staff The food was not particularly impressive.
pleasant surroundings, helpful staff no
They were very accommodating and let us change rooms to get away from the wedding noise. Lots of weddings - and accompanying loud music!
used the full use of the hotel ,the swimming pool etc was first class no
Comfortable room. Friendly helpful staff.
Food - quality excellent and good man size portions. Bed - lovely comfy mattress. Covered smoking area. Very noisy water pipes - couldnt hear tv if bathroom was in use. Room itself was cold, pretty 'tired' and spoiled by cheap furniture. Also significant late night noise from the bar below. Upgrading is in progress however and we'd like to return for a future visit when this is completed. What has been done so far is excellent.
The hotel staff were very friendly and there was a good choice at breakfast. The evening meal was very nice with a good menu. The hotel has a nice open fire which was great since there was about 6ins of snow outside. The shower was lovely and warm which was great after a day on the hills. Shower room could probably do with a bit of an upgrade but since we paid a bargain price I wouldn't complain too much.
The staff were very friendly and helpfull and the food was fantastic!!
Friendly staff and good value
Great location and very friendly staff
We were luckie with the room. It had a wonderful view to the river and mountais.
loved the place, just needs a good clean and a bit of maintenance.. would recommend and stay again. staff were exempklary. pay rises all round. many thanks just a wee bit grubby in places.
The rooms were clean and comfy and the included breakfast was good in the morning. The staff was very helpful and the village was beautiful. Because this is also a bar/restaurant, parking was kind of a pain. Also, we had a flood light outside our room shining on the sign all night that was a tad annoying, but I would still recommend this location.
A lovely hotel very plesant stay great food and welcoming staff, especially the Australian girl on reception. This hotel has a really warm feeling and I certainly would go back. Our room had a lovely view for a great price. The front rooms experience some noise from the neighbouring pub
first class service, lovely location, friendly staff, excellent food, i will recommend the hotel to anyone and hope to return next summer. poor t.v. reception but not a big problem.
This was the fourth time I've stayed at Killin, and once again the food and staff where great Had a lovely room, but the mattres could do with a wee change, seen better days
A very friendly and relaxing atmosphere with superb food and our room over looked the river Lochay and the bridge with a heron in situ for a lot of the day. Be prepared for a very old and quirky building and you wont be disappointed. A bit too far out of Killin to venture in on foot. Sits right on the edge of the main road but then thats would you expect from an inn of this age.
Friendly and helpful staff and management and real, open fires. No.
Nice, Clean, Friendly, with great location by the river. It was a pleasure staying there. No
the food was very good esspecially the selection avaliable at breakfast and the staff were fab the plastic roof on the residents lounge makes a lot of noise when it rains but im being picky!!
Single room was nice and cosy, shower excellent. No complaints>
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was excellent - modern furnishings and a spacious bathroom. Food was good.
Nice large room with nice roomy modern bathroom.excellent staff breakfast and dinner very good. Lot of noise from staff quarters above our room tiil late into night.
We loved everything, it was clean and tidy could not fault anything. Nothing.
Very comfortable , friendly owners and excellent breakfast.
All staff were helpful & friendly. Service was excellent. Food was lovely.
Staying with a young family, twin boys age 7. It was great to find so many things to do...most of which were included within the cost of the holiday. No
Luxury from the time I left the car. The hotel looks good and is good. Very impressive entrance and extensive grounds.
the general ambiance, friendlieness, the food, facilities and where it is situated
The surrounding countryside is beautiful and there is so many activities to participate in. Our bed was very uncomfortable and hot water seemed to come and go!!
The Victorian Spa The room we were allocated had an adjoining door and althogh it was locked the next room was allocated to a family. It wasn't a very relaxing stay for us as you could hear everything through the door. I don't think it was a good idea to put a family and a couple in rooms like that.
Plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied
Rooms neat and modern Charging for use of pool is outrageous, portion size in restaurant is small. Hotel has lost it's charm.
the food was excellent although the "hub" was not value for money there was no presentaion with the food. just the smell of dampness out side the room
the facilties and the food in the brasserie the price of drinks, especially a glass of wine.
We loved the fact that children are very much welcomed into the hotel. The swimming pool and hair salon (staff especially) was fantastic! Only thing which was a little disapointing even with the window open in our room was it was really hot at night while trying to get to sleep, but I think for the few days we stayed we had such lovely weather which was a little unexpected!
We liked the couple who were filling in for the owner. Duncan was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast had a good selection and the dining room was nice enough. Had to park from a distance, and had to lug it up 3 floors. Bathroom was outside of our room. Sink in our room didn't work.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, The food was of a very high standard. Room was excellent with good views.
The wonderful, imaginative and delicious food. We return again and again. The welcome. The cleanliness. Our third stay here in one of our favourite hotels disappointed us: the room had been spoiled by having the shower-room cut out of it. It was too small. The shower-room was terribly small and the door worse.I would advise friends to avoid this room.
We arrived early but our room was ready so we settled in. The room was very large and beautifully decorated with quality furnishings. The staff were great and the food for the evening meal exceptional. Public rooms all of a very high standard. Our bedroom was such good quality the bathroom was a real shock. Old suite, mould above the tiles and ill-fitting lino and bath panel but was clean. The bathroom was quite large and there was only a towel rail to provide heat so before the bathroom was used we had to leave the bathroom door open to transfer the heat from the bedroom. Lots of hot water but poor pressure a shower pump may have helped.
It was central to our trip in the Trossaks. The pullout beds were surprisingly good to sleep on (we needed extra beds for our travel group) We could not dine at the hotel because they were running a murder mistery diner and were sold out.
Very welcoming, excellent restaurant with very good service.
I liked the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone.
lovely food, comfortable rooms and friendly, professional staff
THE CLEANLINESS, STAFF AND LOCATION NONE, I WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN
Breakfast was very good. Shower were not functioning.
Fantastic welcome and great craic with owner None
Very warm welcome from Michael. Comfortable room with everything you might need for a stay of one night or one week. Very nice cooked breakfast which kept us full all day. Would return there no question.
The helpfulness of the host. The breakfast was freshly made and plenty of it
