Very pleasing. Attractive, good quality and traditional furnishings. Polite and helpful service. Good (perhaps too much) food. Easy parking. Thoughtful touches e.g. flask of fresh milk in bedroom (rather than the awful small pots of artificial stuff). Inn rather than hotel so less stuffy. We were on ground floor facing the road so difficult to leave the windows open at a night (although the access was excellent for my elderly mother). The rooms facing the back would be better and these have wonderful views.
Good food.Good beer.Good location.Great view into the hills.Good access to both coast and mountains.
Location and private terrace outside room. The privacy and quietness afforded here was much appreciated.Accessibility to, and comfort in the room we had was very good. Quality of service and food were inconsistent and, we considered, did not reflect the inn's 5 star rating Wardrobe space was very limited and further impeded by what to us was an unnecessary trouser press (An ironing board would be preferable) The advertised TV Freeview was limited to two channels which was disappointing.
Our 'standard' rooom was spacious, clean and comfortable with a view over open fields to the mountains beyond. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Highly recommended.
The food was very good The balcony was very small in the upstairs rooms and whilst we expected a double room, we had two twins joined together which was not very comfortable
We travelled as a family with a 12 year old son and 2 elderly grandparents. We were given a great mainfloor room for the grandparents and a lovely family room.Restraunt was excellent and all the staff extremely friendly and accomodating.Would definitely recommend the Groes Inn.
The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of perfectly cooked food of local high class produce. Our party guests who joined us for dinner loved the ambience of the dinning room, and the high quality food for dinner, service excellent. The only point that could be improved is the massive portions served up to the teenage girls who were overfaced by such large portions and so didn't enjoy the main courses. Starters and desserts were perfection. Perhaps the waiting on staff could tip off the chef when teenage girls order main courses. Only the size of the beef burger bun accompanied with too many delicious chips and a Shepherd's pie which was huge and very, very hot.
Easy car parking Food and beer good Really need a car to get to anywhere from here, but that was known when booking.
Our suite was fantastic - Very comfortable bed and gorgeous bathroom. The breakfast was nicely cooked and we enjoyed the leisure facilities, particularly sitting in the hot tub until it was dark! A w/end of luxury!
Food was very well presented, with taste to match, We had a room with a hot tub, which was very private, which made it relaxing. The staff were very friendly and accomadating The room was a bit warm, not due to the room heating but other forms of heat from under our room, but not a real problem because we had french doors on to a private balcony
Pleasant surroundings, inside and out. Quiet. Informal. No shower.
Nothing was too much trouble. None
facilities great. friendly helpful owners and staff.good breakfast great location. menu a bit limited and could be better value.our room could have done with a lick of paint hear and there.
Excellent location, very peaceful, also nothing was any trouble
We stayed for one night, and having suffered the M6 on a Friday, were met with a relaxed, friendly, but attentive atmosphere. Quite traditional in feel, I noticed books, videos and games presumably for inclement weather. There were some elements of contemporary styling particularly in the area we had breakfast. I enjoyed my stay.
It was just very relaxing. Only stayed one night but felt very relaxed and stress free after our stay.
Friendly atmosphere and a relaxing short break. Thoroghly enjoyed.
We we very pleased with the welcome we received and the staff were extremely friendly and a wonderful breakfast. The bathroom although cln the bath hadnt been fitted properly and the water came out in a dribble. The evening meal was very pricey.
Very friendly, very comfortable, excellent food and good value.
Excellent facilities, rooms very clean and well presented. Very relaxing surroundings, with well kept gardens. Alan and Ian go out of their way to make your stay with them enjoyable. I would strongly advise to opt for the evening meal, always a varied choice and delicious. This is our third consecutive year of staying there and we will be returning.
Service, food, and overall atmosphere was excellent. Would recommend it to anyone
The friendly atmosphere. Feeling at home. Fantastic cooking. The perfect hosts. The shower was not working perfectly
Very peaceful surroundings, friendly welcome and very comfortable rooms. An ideal place to relax and unwind.
Fantastic house with exceptional food
Staff service Nothing
Excellent food, grounds, location, and room. The owners put you at ease straightaway and the service was faultless None really. The only minor gripe was that breakfast was so early between 8-9am and on a Sunday morning it would have been good to have a bit of a lie in!
Owners are fantastic, beautiful location, excellent food and very relaxing
It was very homely and comfortable
Hotel location and parking availablity
Conway is a small village anchored to the water by a huge castle (King Edward I, 1272) with walls extending all the way around the village. The Castle Hotel is in the center of the village and it is the perfect location to walk the town and learn some of the haunting stories from the past. The hotel has had many sitings as has the Castle and the Plas Mawr , a Tudor Renaissance house from the 16th century. The Castle Hotel also has the best food in town. Sitting by the fire in the pub and downing a pint or two is heaven. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful.
Lovely hotel, small and perfectly formed! We ate in the restaurant with our family who we were visiting, we all throughly enjoyed our food The only criticism would be the noise on the street at night as we had a room at the front of the hotel, however there is little the hotel could do about that.
The staff was very responsive and courteous, and the room was reasonably clean (though I did notice dust in the tea-service, which was a bit off- putting. I might suggest that instead of resetting the service after each guest leaves, you could simply remove the dishes and tea maker until the next guest *arrives*, thus ensuring fresh and clean dishes.) As a business traveler, it is important to me that I am able to stay connected to my business while I travel. Initially I selected the Castle Hotel because it seemed like a great place: extremely comfortably located, nice lodgings, and most important to me - wireless internet access. It is simply not feasible for me to try to carry out my usual business interactions at a library or a wireless cafe because I require 2-3 hours of internet connectivity per night, from my laptop, while I travel for business. That level of use at either of those locations honestly seems rude to me. I chose that Castle Hotel over several competitors in the area because of the statement that they had wireless service in the hotel. I was very dismayed to arrive and find that not only was the service down, but it had been down for several days - days before I'd made my reservation, time enough for them to have indicated somewhere on the website that the service wasn't available at the time. I felt that I had been misled. I understand that many hotels like the Castle Hotel want very much to retain their charm as historic locations, and I support that. I appreciated the candles lit hallways, the quiet Victorian lounge, and even the creaky floor had a certain appeal. However, one commodity that will become increasingly important to many travelers is some kind of internet connectivity. The staff was helpful in pointing me to a public library, from which I was at least able to communicate with some co-workers, but it wasn't quite the level of accessibility that I needed.
Food was excellent and the hotel was full of character and very tasteful. I was here on business but it felt like I was on holiday! No bad points
Nice food, friendly atmosphere. Not able to specify a twin room on the internet booking site.
Dining was outstanding and central Conwy location ideal.
The hotel is a historic building well restored with comfort and warm ambience, good service and tasty food. no complaints
Convenient Location, excellent restaurant, car park facility, friendly and helpfull staff.
The food was excellent and there was a good range on the menu
The hotel was good value for money The entertainment in the evening left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately it didn't really cater for people of a younger generation!!! Also the rooms were absolutely freezing cold even with the radiator on full blast.
the area it was in
it was easy to find the staff were brilliant and the hotel was very clean plus we had a gorgeous breakfast thank you we will stay with you again sometime xx nothing at all A*** hotel and staff
entertainment/meals poor cleanliness and shoddy decor in rooms/hotel very tired looking/poor parking
Wonderful views over the bay. Friendly and accommodating staff. Super breakfast. Room rather small. No bath. Some fittings very aged. Room exceptionally dark and only one chair but concierge arranged for an extra lamp. Overall the hotel has seen better days and is badly in need of refurbishment
We really enjoyed our stay friendly staff good food and good location The lumpy mattress
friendliness of all staff
absolutely nothing. a toilet of a hotel. nothing worked, door wouldn't open and our stuff was in the room, the shower didn't work, the the tv didn't work, lights looked dangerous and only half of them worked. the room was accessed by the back door of the hotel and by crossing the one car carpark, past the rubbish bins and mating cats, then up the narrow stairs. breakfast is a joke here, they glared at us thro ughout our meal, which was a terrible version of full English served on a tiny pocket sized plate. poorly cooked and almost thrown at you, the waiter couldn't get rid of us quick enough, the toast was mouldy and the tea terrible . we approached the surly looking management to complain but as my romanian is a little rusty we struggled. she seemed to not really care that.nothing worked.and the food was mouldy, blaming the previous guests for.breaking everything . AVOID THIS PLACE ! Without doubt, the worst run hotel i have ever stayed at. will never return here even if it was demolished
everything was supplied no we had a lovely short break
We chose this hotel because of its location and its 4* rating. The room was quite small but comfortable.
Nice view The hotel had a wedding going on and it was extremely loud until 2 am and we could not sleep. on top of that, several guests had a stomach bug and were throwing up. We checked out one night early and the hotel refused to refund our second night.
Room comfort and size, large bathroom, comfy bed Small parking area, loud wedding guests in bar, they need to set up a bar in the function room
Because of the time of a year, very quiet atmosphere, few people.
the pool and
We liked everything about this hotel - location, facilities, staff, ameneties, atmosphere, food!!!!!!!!!!!! No!
Perfectly situated for all amenities No
Just enjoyed the lovely winter break, have been 'out of season' before and enjoy the peace and relaxation.
The pool was good. The staff were polite & efficient The meals were a little on the small size for someone who has a larger appetite than I do. Car parking is a problem.
Fabulous location right on the sea front Room was very warm
Very pleasant staff. Clean and well presented. Very enjoyable stay!
Location, and very quiet. Well-trained staff always willing and attentive made for relaxed stay. The changing colours of the seascape were a constant pleasure. **** hotel with no bathrobes; towels old; towel rail never heated. No clock.
Friendly service.Very clean. Car parking round the back is very poor should suggest parking over the road around the church
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great but the evening meal was fabulous, definitely recomend a meal there well worth the money. Parking was minimal, we were lucky to go in October but can imagine it very difficult to park on the hotel grouds at busier time of year.
Very convenient, and spacious. Meals excellent. The service of waiters/waitresses was excellent the timing of courses left a little to be desired. Make sure that your evening meal has been booked by reception staff.
Location was great; staff at breakfast very friendly parking a little tricky
I like the comfort and the staff are very helpful. We find the atmosphere at the hotel very relaxing. The only thing I would have liked at the St George was the lack of a pool which would have been a great asset. However, we had a lovely weekend.
Excellent facilities, extremely clean, very pleasant stay
Tha ambience was calm and the bedroom were to a high standard. They lack a fridge / mini-bar, which is disappointing in a 4 star establishment. see above. Also, there was a function in the main retuarant and the kitchen was clearly barely able to cope with the 'ordinary diners' Excruciatingly long waits between courses and steaks not cooked as per order were symptomatic.
Cleanliness of the room and particularly the bathroom. You were right on the sea front. The breakfast was delicious. Limited parking.
Friendly staff, exceleent sea views and good breakfast. Good parking.
None Overall experience was shocking!! Management got aggresive whe We questioned him about the rooms!!
Did not like anything. The room was to smal, dirty, not properly ventilated. Damp, toilet was very basic and not very clean. Overall to expensive for this type of accomodation. Did not like anything. I was very disappointed with my stay. The hotel had two members of staff covering reception, the dining room and bar. I had to walk around the dining room to find someone to check in. The bathroom tile grouting was black and the bedroom curtains were smaller than the windows. When I raised these concerns with the owner he just argued back and got aggressive. I travel with work a lot and this hotel will be one I remember for the wrong reasons.
None I admit my stay was in the winter in a seaside resort but the description that the 'Regency Royal Hotel has ... free parking and an Indian restaurant' was a bit overstated. Free parking was just on-street parking and the Indian restaurant was not open, all I was offered was a very disappointing menu of bar snacks.
Breakfast good free parking clean new sheets towels free wifi Tv not working
The food and restaurant service was good. Views of promenade and sea good. No heating in bedroom on arrival - very cold. Took hours to heat room with 2 bar fire. Room was above disco - loud noise till 1,30a.m.
Sea view, cleanliness, price. Staff friendly. Bath towels changed after each use. Outdated facilities. tv didn't work. Shower cubicle cramped. Bar never seemed to be open - bar meals advertised. Menu not wonderful. Most meals came with chips. Front garden area not well maintained.
Staff friendly. Bathroom was dirty with hairs and dust in every corner.
the breakfast small room
I like the friendly staff no every thing was spot on
Very friendly staff very clean and food very good. Wewill most likely visit again.
Convenient, cleanliness, friendly.
good location draughty bedroom
Friendly Staff who wanted to make you welcome
the excellent service and homely feeling of the hotel everything was excellent
The breakfast, well worth getting up for! Room was very good, as clean as you could ask for and no shortage of clean towels etc in bathroom. Would recommend the Clovelly to anyone staying in Llandudno...
located within easy reach to shops, beach pier and other local attractions
The breakfast was gourmet - all needs catered for and beautifully presented. Staff were very courteous. The bathroom - avocado suite - reminded me of my student flat, 20+ years ago! Management did say there was a programme in place to refurbish.
Hotel was very clean and quiet at night. Staff were pleasant. Lovely location right on the sea front and only a short walk from shops, We stayed in room 17, the plumbing wasn't very good.
Its location Wifi works only in the lobby; when they replenish the rooms they get skimpy or distracted & do not leave milk or cookies, or soap, etc
The breakfasts were good Too far from town centre, lack of parking- Guest parking round back of hotel, but no rear access to hotel. Bedroom was chilly- no heating on. Breakfast served 8:30 till 9am was a bit late, as most people were ready at 8 am.
Wasn't happy staying on a Saturday night / Sunday morning breakfast at 8.00am-9.00am! Like a lie in on a weekend so needless to say had no breakfast, all the other places I have stayed allow 2 hours for breakfast & at a later time.
Vere friendly staff & lovely location and breakfast
