Location, service, spa facilities, friendly staff, multi language menues etc. Some rooms were noisy from the road
The location of hotel was beautiful. Noyhing
Rooms and bathrooms were very clean.Entertainment through free movies channel. I have come across the 1st 5 star hotel which does not provide a Coffee maker in the rooms. Not worth the money .The services are not 5 star category. It is slightly far from the railway station.
restaurant and bar staff, retaurants, spa, lake view, convenience for town .
Convenience to station and lake Caffe' Du Lac was not good in terms of menu and service
location, view, vip bar
Nive views in our room. Some staff could speak Spanish. Room facilities were ok. We received a room in the first floor without elevator and they didn't offer any help for our luggage (only a few steps according to the staff, but it's incredible in a supposed 5 starts hotel). Staff wasn't very helpful, just informed us about extra costs (parking, etc.)
Location Resquested room was not provided. The lakeview rooom was requested on the website, but provided only after I brought the oversight to the attention of the reception. Resulted in wasted trip to the incorrect room.
We were met by the receptionis who advised us that the double room we had not booked was not really suitable for my wheelchair boun wife He advise we perhaps could upgrade to either a junior suite or a lake view apartment,We choose the latter and had the most superb room,Thanks to the hotel and caring staff Parking was a bit expensive
Good location, near Cillion Castle, beside the Lake Geneve, beautiful view! A swimming pool! You may have an own kitchen and a sitting room and a very big landscape balcony. Breakfast is yammy. no
The room and service were excellent
We appreciated the kindness of the staff. The room was very clean and comfy. Both the castle and the city centre are a stone's throw from the hotel.
The hotel staff were very helpful. The hotel in general has a strange and annoying smell in the corridors and in our room specially. Our room was in the street side and it was noisy starting from early morning. The hotel breakfast was very poor, they need to have more options. the hotel is located far away from the city center however there is a bus station in front of the hotel which can take you there. finally the car parking prices was very high.
Location, proximity to Château de Chillon, which was a priority as we had a conference banquet there. Excellent patio with superb view of the Lake and facing mountains. Friendly staff (especially at breakfast) which, I'm sorry to say, is unusual for Switzerland. Do not get a road-side room. The noise from the road will most definitely wake the most soundest sleeper. If you're coming for the view, spend a little extra - sleep soundly and wake up to the view.
we were travelling with friends and this hotel wasjust one who gave us 2 bedroom room. Also they have kitchen and quite big bathroom. Location is ok.
Good central location Room was tired with small double bed
Location and breakfast Parking
location and lake view brakfast can be better for this price
Free internet and selection of movies was great Helpful staff Not full No parking at the hotel - had to go to public parkade 30 m away, so not too bad Beds not very comfortable Restaurant was being renovated
Setting was beautiful. Hotel still has some of its former grandeur but probably hasn't been renovated in 30 years.
location breakfest not included otherwise 24!!! CHF, sauna is cold even after asking, the room is old and they don't clean very well
People were so kind and gentle. And super nice location.
Classic hotel located on lakeside in expensive location. Small bathroom adequate, although the ugly split in the wash basin was not very appetising.Notice that the mini-bar fridge stocked to bursting, therefore unable to use to cool own drinks. Very disappointed on arrival to find that our room key did not open the door! Had to return to reception from 4th floor to ask for assistance. The receptionist very apologetic and gave us another room on next floor...we had 4 suitcases and other bags( as we could not leave anything in the car) and had spent 11 hours driving so this was not a happy start. We chose this hotel as it was our wedding anniversary so this incident really did spoil the entire stay.Unfortunately our room did not look out over the lake so it was all a bit of a waste to be faced with a block cross the road...not very romantic. Although the setting is on the edge of the lake the surrounding area was not very nice when we went out in search of dinner at 9pm: noisy crowds of youths and shrieking girls with a Macdonalds next door. As this was to be the highlight of our 9-day trip it was a complete disappointment.Interestingly, walking along the edge of the lake next morning we found much nicer areas. If we return we will choose something further along the lake within the town.
If you do stay at this hotel, I recommend that you request a room with a balcony view facing Lake Geneva.
staf were very friendly, rooms were comfertable but without an air condition, the hotel located in the center of the city, they offer free bus ride in Montreux, Vevey & Vellneve also they offer free internet &10% discount in the restuarants, cafe, spa of 5 defferent hotels in the city of montreux. in my point view , I wished that the rooms were air conditioned in case of planning to visit the city again in the summer.
The reception staff were most helpful for me. The bedroom was great and the breakfast very good indeed. Only the price was expensive for me, but probably not as Swiss hotels go.
1. There is a resort tax which did not mention on website. 2. Also website said bussiness room has free internet, but the staff said it has to pay. 3. Inconvenient for check-in and out. 4. Not worth the money.
The breakfast Yes. I asked for a room with a nice view, and I was given a room at the first floor, facing a wall
Yes facilities & breakfast
The Hotel is linked to the luxury hotel across the road, therefore you go second hand service. Hotel is lit up with floodlights and the nigh shutters in the two rooms we had did not work! The road was noisy and there room was lit up at night Poor service and bright rooms for the wrong reason!
We were given a nice big suite which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel reception desk staff were very helpful when we asked for directions and recommendations on things to do while we were in Montreux. We had to go across the street to the hotel everytime we needed to ask something at the reception desk or to use the facilities of the hotel.
hotel was near the city centre and the lakeside (across the road) (Single) room was small, on streetlevel so car noise was considerable. No view from the room. Amenities were adequate, but the price of the hotel was too high for what I got.
That we only stayed one night. The room was too small to move in (and we paid for an upgraded lake view). The shower water intermittently changed hot to cold. The carpet was old and stained, dirty scuff matks all over the walls, and the internet was spotty. We also dealt with noise problems. Four large families, who were patrons of the hotel, were all yelling at each other outside our window late at night and their children were screaming for well over an hour. Called the night staff, nothing was done. Then later found them on our floor running up and down the halls till 2:30am. We tried to have a word with the patrons but they did not care. The night staff, who are located at their partner hotel across the street, gave no apologies nor recognition to the event and after our 4th request finally walked over and asked the large group to go into their rooms. Terrible, terrible night for way, way too much money. Use the money to upgrade your hotel. It's cleaner and better dated at a hostel.
The offer of the free city bus for guests with the bus stop outside was helpful. Their wi fi price was reasonable. The room had portable A/C. Good breakfast choices but best to go early for selection. We had some difficulty finding the hotel despite using their map. Was a good 10min walk from the station. To return we discovered that the free city bus dropped us off on the main street at the bottom of the escalator leading up to the station. As a triple, our room was at the back of the hotel without patio or views, & was a little cramped.
We didn't actually stay at Villa Toscane. We got an upgrade to their sister hotel, Royal Plaza Montreux (5-Star), which was right across the street, and we were very glad about that. 1) It said on the entrance door that you need to check-in and get the key from their sister hotel, Royal Plaza Montreux, which was right across the street, but almost all the guests, including us, did not see the notice. They should put the notice on the reception counter rather than the entrance. We were lucky because when we arrived, there was someone who were coming back from the hotel across with his key and he told us about the check-in method. The person said it took him 1 hour until he saw the notice! We were upgraded to their sister hotel, Royal Plaza Montreux and it was a 5-Star. But the 'continental breakfast' at this 5-Star hotel was far too simple. Some bread and juice, that's it, and that was 14CHF!
Hotel has good amenities and location but deception is not appreciated. Visiting Montreux, we were specifically looking to stay in a historic building. Upon arrival, we were surprised to see a what looked like a deserted hotel. Dragging the baggage around, we circled it trying to find an open door - then we found a note saying that the reception is located in Royal Plaza across the street. There we went and were informed that Villa Toscane is closed - but not to worry, we were getting "upgraded" to a room in Royal Plaza. Despite its creepy exterior, Royal Plaza is decent inside, although I have no idea where they get a 5 star rating... Having asked if they get many people like us, they said at least 5 today, although the false advertising didn't seem to concern them. Strange situation.
room was huge with a lovely view over the mountains, staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Food was very good and the staff attentive.
Very convenient during the Montreux jazz fest. Free bus had stop right in front of hotel.
The food was excellent! The Hotel could do with a face lift, outside, as its not at all welcoming, yet once inside one is pleasantly surprised.
No kettle available which is unexpected. The 'how to find this hotel' instruction on booking.com about this hotel is wrong. My gps does a better job in finding this hotel for me.
Friendliness of staff Lack of coffee/tea making facility in room
Comfortable and friendly, although some rooms need an update - we had five rooms on the same floor. Hotel closed Sat p.m. and Sunday so no bar at these times or any service.
very comfortable hotel. Rooms spacious and enough storage space especially if one is staying for 4 or 5 days. The restaurant is very good and well priced.
i realy ejoy mytme in the hotel
A very luxurious hotel with superb furnishings and facilities. A true 5 star property!
The swimming pool and fitness centre with magnificent lake views are the reason I stay there. The breakfast terrace is very pleasant and the brasserie offers excellent food, with a reasonable value set lunch. Check-in is always excruciatingly slow.
Facilities , location excellent except staff just OK. Just staff
The spa The style of the room, very clssic.
beautiful hotel with great services. Definitely recommend the spa The Brasserie (in the hotel) was not up to par with the service/offerings of the hotel. Service and food were not top notch for a 5star hotel.
everything to a high standard
I liked everything about it and mostly the staff were very friendly, smiling, helping, and accomodating. Moreover, although I mde the reservation few hours before checkin, I had what exactly what I requested.
The luxury, location and sense of really treatin ourselves
Everything was perfect.
Extremely friendly and professional staff. Super Spa facilities. Delightful room. More notice needed to those having breakfast as to when it is finishing on the day. We came down at 10am on Monday thinking it would continue until 11am -as per Sunday. And were told at 10.25 that it would be closing at 10.30 ie a weekday. At evening meals there was one young girl who served us who was glum and unfriendly-definetely needed more training in people skills. Some of the food was disappointing but most of it was excellent. I would not say that the level was consistently excellent.
Hotel Staff always willing to help Pool Spa and Haman out of action for the rest of the year very disappointing
Really nice hotel, best location, excellent staff, really nice spa. Spectacular view of the Savoyen alps and lake Geneva the control panel for the heating didn't work properly, and so the temparature was a little bit too low at night.
Comfortable, did notice that the room I was given I think (not sure) was allocated to guests booking at lower prices eg. after first night free newspaprer at door not delivered, no chocolates at night certain prices - coffee, water etc were very expensive but I suppose to be expected in a 5 star hotel. Staff did not speak very good English, not front staff, staff in dining room.
The service and the facilities
the glorious views overlooking the lake; the peace and quiet; the attentive and helpful reception.
This hotel was amazing - the hisotry, luxury and service were impeccable. Beautiful views over teh lake and excellent tour advice and assistance. The restaurant was of gourmet rating.
Efficient, Friendly, Comfortable, Location Nothing
a fantastic location in a great resort, very romantic perfect for my wife & myself's honeymoon
The pool, the view and the ambiance. Food was very good, staff were very kind. The spa was closed when we arrived and on the sunday.. I leVE today to return to hotel
The location was great, as long as you have a lake view. I don't think I'd want a non-lake view as you'll be on the side with the train. It was an easy walk into town via the lake-side walkway, or you could take the complementary train (but we just walked as the weather was lovely). Well, our booking.com reservation was apparently lost so they upgraded us to a suite for the same price. Everything was lovely. If we'd had the standard room that we'd paid for, then we probably would have had a room to the front next to the train and no view. If I use the hotel again, which I'll probably do, I will upgrade to at least an lake view. It is expensive, but less than the other hotels in town and the quality seemed as good, if not better, than what I saw of the other hotels in the area.
The view was fantastic, One of the best for this price in Montreux. For the price, the room was fairly basic but very clean and comfortable and didn't care about the room as the balcony and the view was worth it!
The view is wonderful. A little bit old but still OK.
Very clean, spacious room, great location overlooking the lake. Close to the downtown area. Short 5 minute walk to the Territet train platform Carpet looked tired in the stairways, not that big of a deal
My double room on the third floor was very comfortable and spacious. It opened to a beautiful, unobstructed lakeside view. The building itself evokes a romantic feeling of a bygone era. The hotel receptionists (two young ladies) in the morning were very friendly and helpful. The room could benefit from more lights as it was very dark at night with only two bedside lamps. The buffet breakfast at 23 fr was not good value for money as it had only one choice of cheese, ham and oily fried egg, sausage and bacon.
The location of the hotel at the lakeside was perfect, quiet, fabulous views and not too far from the train station and shops/restaurants. No significant points to dislike
Fabulous view, good location (right on the lake) and great room size. For Europe, it is a treat!
Staff always helpful. Very comfortable feeling from hotel like being in your own home.
The hotel has a lovely ambience and a good location as well as wonderful views over the lake. The hotel (especially externally) and the rooms are very dated - in particular the bathrooms - and in considerable need of upgrade and maintenance. Breakfast was average however staff were very slow to replenish food plates that were empty or nearly empty.
The location was excellent and the view as well. Staff was very nice and the room was well cleaned every day. It was a bit old fashioned. I had a double room for single use. There were two seperate beds which could not be put togheter. For me it was not a problem as I was alone with when you are a couple it is not very nice.
Excellent location and well furnished room
staff was frendly, good location.all most room with lake view and balcony
Location was great ! I reserved parking ahead of time , but upon arrival there was none. Make sure you obtain a room facing south - No street noise from the bars and a nd a much better view. Breakfast was only average.
How close it was tothe office The smell
The location and the view. Room was well appointed and the breakfast was excellent. Difficult to get the luggage into the lobby.
Very nice location overlooking the lake and the beautiful town of Montreux. Spacious and nice room with balcony. Breakfast is good. Not so impressed by the a la carte restaurant. Service and food not up to expectations.
The location and view over the lake. We have stayed in many hotels across the world and, it has to be said, that we have never been offered such a poor breakfast selection! Not just poor but an absolutely minimal choice! Afterwards I looked around the lobby for signs to the 'Weightwatchers' Conference!
Fantastic location ,exellant service and good resturant
I liked the friendly staff and howit was a more modern hotel
Room with a balcony directly on the Lake. Large size room and bathroom on the corner of the building with three windows for ventilation. No air conditioning and the hotels breakfast was poor (in selection).
Very comfortable rooms. Beautiful view over the lake. Good breakfast in lovely dining room..
Friendly staff! Clean with super internet! Fantastic breakfast. Horrible elevator next to my room that kept me awake and disturbed my working, also not well isolated doors and my room was close to the hotel bar. I loved the hotel, but make sure you're not on the reception floor and also that you're not next to the elevator. One can also hear the train, but that didn't distrub me much in comparison.
Beautiful location right on the lake and easy walking distance from the centre of town. Beds very comfortable. Hotel is across the road from the train line and there was some train noise during the night
I liked the good relationship price/quality. It's not far from Montreux town centre, easily reachable by bus or even by walk. I would increase a little bit the breakfast choice, which is not spectacular. For example it was missing vegetables
Breakfast, location no minibar in a 4 stars hotel is a bit unusual
Friendly helpfull staff, excellent position. Very nice hotel
Staff in Reception and front office Towels in the bath-room were not new / fresh ( Old Towels )
The wide room and the great view of the lake. The 4-star hotel did not a mini bar or a coffee and tea maker in the room. I stayed in other 3-star hotels in Switzerland that had both.
The lake view, the breakfast, the price, the free bus ticket
I received the code to enter the building and my room days before my stay. Its complete autonomy.
The room is nicely equiped with all you might need in a hotel. it's well decorated. the staff is very friendly and helpful. I was expecting a better view to the lake, especially it was mentioned in the room description. the security system is a bit noisy.
Location:excellent Welcome & assistance: superb Room: smart and sassy as well as highly functional Would highly recommend
The hotel was easy to access, convenient and clean and tody, Very polite staff/owners Parking was not very easy
Comfortable Room and bed in design style,Very nice breakfast buffet, owners often present and very pleasant
Everything was fantastic - great room, food and most of all - the warm personal service from the Hotel owners who spent a long time with us helping us to get the best out of Montreaux. None.
Our hostess at the BnB Belalp was very gracious and went out of her way to see that we had a pleasant stay. She even drove us to the train station on our last day.
Nice location, breakfast and very friendly owner.
Superb view right in front of the lake. It was difficult to find a parking place in the town of Montreux.
it had a swimming pool The service was terrible. We arrived early and were advised the room would not be ready until 15.00 and the receptionist said he would try get it ready sooner. I went back at 14.00 and was told the room was still not ready and that it would definitely be 15.00. I went back at 15.00 but the room was still not ready. We sat in reception for an hour and a half before the room was ready. I was very disappointed no-one came to keep me updated and discusted that they knew I had arrived early and did not get my room ready. Furthermore, when we went to the room the cleaners were still cleaning it. The patio area was very poorly presented and did not represent the image i had been given. The room was split into two and was small, though adequate.
The location is the only interest of this hotel Unfortunately it is more and more difficult to find value for the money in Montreux where the only interest they have for customer is to make sure that they will end in the casino
This is very nice place - fantastic view for Lac Leman and mountains - you can see it just from your bed if balcon open and lissen wawes from Leman all night. Ideal place if you find romantic but quit place for short rest. It was some trable with electric sistem in room - minibar and one of lampe didn't work, but I belive it will repair quickly..For us it was not create problem.
staff were excellent and brasserie dinners very good also spa and sauna plus nearness to montreux etc selection at breakfast was poor for this standard of hotel, more like a 2 star or b/b
Good hotel with reasonable facilities but overpriced-reasonably central location -Lovely staff overpriced
The staff there are very friendly and always ready to help! The location of the hotel is great, especially that its next to the train station&right in the town center.
Right in front of the railway station. Spacious room. Air conditioner didn't work well (probably same in everywhere in CH.
Staff was very kind and helpful
Clean, central, modern, well run, good food, breakfast included plus Riviera pass giving free bus/trolleybus rides and half price boat fares - much used. Top floor has lounge and outdoor seating with comfy chairs and good views. Very close to station. Surprisingly free from traffic noise. None
Friendlieness on the reception and breakfast services. Quiet place, even if it's placed in the downtown. Interesting location if you travel the country by train Free Internet Services connection. Today the cost for an hotel about this service is nothing and make a service to clients
Clean and comfortable room, lovely choice of breakfast and friendly and helpful staff. On booking.com it said that the hotel had a swimming pool but it didn't.
This is a central and efficient hotel with good facilities and a high standard of comfort. It would be good to have a wider choice of English language TV channels. Some that are available in cheaper hotels such as BBC Entertainment are not offered.
Old world charm and good room with pleasant staff
My husband and I stayed here for 1 night Hotel is in a good location -it is very close to the lake, Freddy Mercury statue and casino. There is a bus stop across the street from the hotel which takes you directly to the Chillon Castle-a definite must see. Our room was very spacious, clean and well decorated. The hotel is old but quaint. Staff/front desk is very polite and helpful and provided lunch suggestions.
The staff and location to the train, breakfast was good.
Enjoyed the stay at Hotel. There The main door of my room looked awkward. Wash basin was inside the bedroom, that I didn't like. There was no water kettle in the room, but hot water was available in the restaurant.
There was no food offered after 10 o clock . i had to go searching for restaurant.Cant believe it , this happens in the town where Hospitality mgmt is taught to bbe competent in hotel business
This is a bogus review, particularly if you do not solicit complaints. We would not recommend this hotel.
location, friendliness, style of the hotel more light in the corridors would make it even better
It is easy to find the location and near the lake. It is on the end of main road and opposite to casino. We can see the lake through the balcony of the room. There is no bath tub and the shower area is small. No electric pot for boiling water.
view of the mountain, simple decor having internet access in the rooms would be a major plus
The bedding was very comfortable - the bed and the pillows and the temperature in the room was nice and warm The floor are creaky and therefore noisy and the food in the restaurant was not very good quality for the price.
Very fancy, although the rooms are not as luxurious as the living room / restaurant would tend to show. Great terrace on the last floor. Good location. Great breakfast. Have to book in advance for the parking. Did not notice that prior to leaving, and had to spend alot of time looking for a cheap spot. Many things in the hotel are falling apart : bulbs missing, pool board in very bad shape, everything is a little dusty. You can feel it was very luxurious once, and they only kept the price (got a double for 200 Fs).
unique design of hotel room
The design of the hotel has it's own style. Reception is friendly and helpful. The room was cold and do not have enough blanket. Also pillow is just like a cushion which is too small to sleep with.
Staff was very friendly and helpful about getting around in Montreux. Rooms are nice.
Nice rooms, nice people! A bit expensive - but hotels seem to be expensive in the whole of switzerland
location is not bad no bus can go to hotel after 8pm
Use of modren concepts Booked double room, room very small, hardly to move around in the room.
This is a truly excellent place -- the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, the rooms are beautiful and luxurious, and (at least when I booked) it was amazingly cheap. Would certainly stay here again!
Tralala is truly a discovery, superb design, great staff and well priced. Strongly recommend both for holiday and business travel.
Good buffet breakfast. Staff speaks fair English, and was helpful. In Montreux you get a free Riviera card for your stay and with it you can get 50% discount on most of the tourist fees in the area (Chillon Castle, boat cruise, etc...).
There was no parking space from the hotel, we were told we have to look ourselves, where we can park our car? I had to park in the town center, about 15 minute (uphill) walk away from the hotel.
clean, nice breakfast First problem: the hotel is located high at the hill ,long distance from center & lake and without any view of suberb lake and mountains. You have to change 2 buses to move around.1st from hotel to train station and then 2nd bus to any other place you want to go.It is really difficult to return to hotel after 8 pm as busses don't pass often.Second: the unfriendly staff. The ladies at the reception there are very nevrous.Third: the size of rooms. The standard room is very small. Its the bed and just a small coridor to walk around it.Fourth:they tried to overcharge us the room.Room was very small & we requested a bigger. The told us that the room we already had was the bigger room!!and that we had to pay a big difference to go to the "suite"....
excellent location good value This is not a complaint but carpet could have been cleaner. Breakfast not interesting. Bread for toaster would have been a good idea.
Comfortable room, very nice breakfast, excellent location, helpful staff Nothing
Desk staff was excellent Rooms were dirty and smelled moldy. Paint peeling from walls. Inadequate towels and pillows. Cigarette smoking on. On smoking floors including staff
Fantastic central location in Montreux, with free wi-fi and included breakfast - an excellent place to stay when visiting this lovely town by the lake. Plus only a few minutes' walk from the main station! Only minor points - the shower in my room was a little small (but manageable), and it is best not to leave breakfast too late (as finite food selections).
Convenient location. worn and tired, expected more for the money, especially in the off season.
Location, View Bathroom is small.
The hotel is located at the most beautiful spot in montreux. The staff was very helpful that he recommended the best cheese fondue in town! Strongly recommend for everyone the experience hotel splendid!! I will surely stay here next time! None
Water view, folksy, old-world atmosphere, position on the lakeside, proximity to the station, free bus pass Breakfast lacked the variety of other similary-priced hotels
My friend and I came in late afternoon overheated and frustrated as we had been on the train since 6:30 AM and were exhausted. Yvan, who was at the front desk, calmed us down, helped us with our luggage, and then sent up two glasses of wine for us. He suggested a wonderful restaurant that evening, and kept our luggage the next day while we toured around. I asked about making a long distance call to my daughter in France and he said Benny would help me with that as he wouldn't be there. The next day when I went down and asked Benny about it, Benny made the call for me on his cell phone and said there was no charge. The staff made me feel like I was staying with family as they were so accommodating. I will gladly stay there again.
The hotel is in a great location and is reasonably priced given how expensive the city can be. The room was very clean and comfortable. A good breakfast was included.
The staff were polite and helpful, and importantly for me, could communicate reasonably well in English. The room, the showers and the linens were clean and well-maintained. I understand that rooms in this hotel do not have AC, and on top of that the courtyard-facing room I was in did not have proper ventilation, so even at midnight it was rather stuffy and warm.
