I loved the rooms that were little private cottages. A massive bathroom space and a two level design made me feel like I was in my own home for a few days. The pool facilities are wonderful and the grounds are well kept and clean. Located on the Kandalama, it was a relaxing space. There were a few things that I felt were not good. First, the staff, although friendly were a bit cold. I was a woman traveling alone and it was bizarre that everything I went to order, they would warn me the price- lol- in a way that was very awkward, as if they assumed I wouldn't have the money. It was a bit comical at times and annoying at others. Maybe they've never seen a woman who can pay for her own things out of the money she makes but this I began to find rude. Especially since it kept happening. The food was not the greatest. I ordered mostly a la carte and it was definitely the worst meals I had in my entire almost 3 week trip. The buffet was better albeit not by much. As well, the room/cottage I had was infested with ants. I know it's located in the wilderness and jungle so I expected some creatures of nature to make their way through, however, this was much more than that. I asked them to look at it the first night and they simply used a cleaning agent and cleaned it as you would a spot on the wall. By the second night, I was waking up to the little critters checking out the bed and crawling on me. The other issue I had was wifi. It was only located in the hotel lobby, which can be a considerable walk from your room depending on where they place you. I stayed at places during my trip for less than the cost of this hotel and I had better wifi, food and facilities. I didn't dislike this stay, I just feel they need to look into some issues. Especially if they are charging over 100 per night. This is more of a place for large groups or families i think.
Good service, good room, excellent grounds, good food. This is a good hotel where people really care about providing good service. Good location. Dambulla Caves and Sirigyra were easily accessible from this hotel. Food was expensive. 15 dollars return to Dambulla by tuk tuk.
The resort is located on main road near Dambulla cave temple(apprx 3km)..One can also do day trips to sigiriya...The resort is set amidst a large farm land. There is a river flowing behind the river...cycles are available for rent at the hotel..I think Nov to Jan is the best season as there will be drizzles and less hot...overall i will say it is good value for the money paid...
The owner is a chef, and the food is fantastic. Best food we had in Sri Lanka. The guesthouse is a bit of a walk from the main street, and is difficult on foot if it's been raining.
