The room was clean and furnishings looked brand new. The Bathroom and shower were great, moved over from the Harborside, and for same rate, the room and service was far superior.
Other than Covid restrictions, the hotel staff was well prepared, and the room was great.
Location is second to none. Staff was friendly
Our room had a mildew smell. Staff knew about it and still rented the room. Outdoor Wave bar was closed. Hotel restaurant “Newes” was a bad experience. They are acting like they have table service, but basically they are allowing patrons to use their tables to eat from to go bags, while the rest of Edgartown has a “normal” dinning experience.
Location in heart of Edgartown.
Cleanliness could have been better. Carpets were dirty. Rooms are loud- can hear everything from other rooms above and from hallway. Ductless mini split operated loudly. The grill cover continued to vibrate while in use.
The door to my room didn’t even fully shut. You could hear every step from the people above you. $25 bike rental fee, whereas other hotels on the island offer as a complimentary amenity
The location was ideal in Edgartown. It was central to the Waterfront, shops, and restaurants. We were also very close to the Chappy Island ferry.
Everything was dirty. They cleaned our room everyday, but it was clear the bathroom/ bathtub was not cleaned ever. The grime/ soap scum accumulated every day. When we arrived to check in there was no one there for a while. It was like that from time to time. Additionally, someone should recommend vacuuming the lobby steps maybe once in a while. It was really dirty. Lastly, I was pregnant. The first day/ night it was very hot. It was not until we complained that we were told the Central AC was broken and maybe they could bring us a window unit. We got a unit and things got more comfortable (thankfully) Overall, I would have gone to the Mansion House, Harbor Hotel down the street, or rented a house for the same price but better quality.
At the height of the whaling era, Edgartown was home to more than 100 sea captains who built grand homes with their fortunes. The Kelley House is a continuation of a story that started in 1742 when John Harper opened The Tavern. The name changed throughout the centuries, finally becoming Kelley House in 1891, but the Federal-style houses retain their original charms. After 275 years, six houses with upgraded rooms, The Newes From America restaurant, and Wave Bar remain a favorite Martha's Vineyard hotel.
