I told them I am severely asthmatic. When I walked into the room I immediately smelled musty old rug that was cleaned at least dozens of times and exhausted its useful life a long time ago. I went back to the front desk and told them needed a different room for medical reasons and willing to pay more. The front desk person and the day manager told me that they did not have availability without any serious they said no without any consideration and force me to sleep in this room where I ended up wheezing all night. They also lied to me that all the rooms were renovated at the same time and were the same. And it turns out that there were at least a few rooms available.
The front desk staff should care about the wellbeing of their customers. Poorly trained and inconsiderate.
Sophisticated and centrally located
Zoltan at reception was a star. The restaurant and bar team were efficient and friendly. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Looking forward to our next visit
The Number One was a tremendous experience. The hotel and restaurant staff could not have been better during our stay. I would simply say keep it up!
Beautiful historic hotel in the perfect location. The staff could not have done more to be helpful. The room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spectacular.
The light level in the room was so subdued that it was difficult to see inside your suitcase. Other than that no complaints at all.
The British Isles is a repository for so much culture and the people all provide a great window onto one of the great countries in the world. A massive contributor to British culture is Scotland, and the city of Edinburgh is its biggest city. When you stay in Edinburgh, you experience all the great Scottish traditions including the architecture, food, and of course, the kilts. Staying in Edinburgh means finding a great hotel, one of which is the Balmoral Hotel.
The Balmoral Hotel is all about providing travelers with some impressively luxurious accommodations. The best part about the hotel is the location. There are so many places to see in Edinburgh and the hotel is right in the middle of all of them. With rooms that are luxuriously appointed and a staff that is dedicated to service, you’ll feel as if you’re the only guest in the hotel. With a pool and spa on the premises, it is extremely easy to relax.
Scottish cuisine is one of the great understated pleasures of any trip. In Edinburgh, it is done right. There are plenty of great places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. However, the Balmoral does offer some in-house dining that will make you think twice about heading out to eat. Number One and Brasserie Prince by Alain Roux are two excellent restaurants to go along with the bars and lounges in the hotel.
Edinburgh is a great place the visit, and staying at the Balmoral Hotel is a great choice for rooms.

This hotel is located in the heart of Edinburgh and provides top notch service for guests. Couples gave high ratings for the hotel and their money is well spent compared to other hotels especially since the hotel has excellent restaurants and it is close to many great places around town. In the fitness center, they also have a personal trainer to help guests.
For eating, guests have the option to choose from three restaurants in the hotel. All three meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at the restaurant. The Brasserie Prince serves French food cuisine with a lunch special Monday to Friday for 25 GBP (31.70 USD) and they also offer an informal dining experience. They additionally offer traditional French dishes like coq au vin which is chicken braised in red wine with tagliatelle pasta. The second restaurant - Number One - serves local cuisine so guests do not have to travel far to experience the local delicacies. This restaurant offers cured duck, followed by North Sea cod, finished off with wild strawberries for dessert. At the Palm Court, they offer afternoon tea and several selections of sandwiches are available. Some of teas include Earl Grey, Rare Breakfast Blend, and Emperor’s Golden Eyebrow.
Within 1 mi from the hotel, there are several restaurants. There is the Frenchy’s South Beach Café, Crabby’s Beachwalk Bar & Grill, and the Post Corner Pizza restaurant.
Many of the hotel features have a Scottish flavor, from the exquisite architectural design to the excellent food, not to mention the staff dressed in kilts. The rooms, which offer a view of Edinburgh Castle and the historic center, also include tasteful tartan touches. All children under the age of 16 years old can stay for free. Children who are two years and younger can stay free of charge on a children’s cot or crib. A night’s stay averages 118.29 GBP (150 USD) a room. Additionally, some of the rooms are connected with adjoining rooms and can be requested for larger parties. Two types of views from the rooms are available. One room allows a view of the garden and the other shows a view of the city. Several rooms have a view of Edinburgh castle and Old Town, the oldest part the city.
The tube (subway) is a 5m walk and allows for access to other parts of Edinburgh. Within less than 5m is the Edinburgh Castle and National Museum of Scotland.
