Pros: Food really good - hostess wonderful!
Pros: The property was located a short walk from town. Beds were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and the owner was friendly and helpful with suggestions of things to do.
Cons: No ice.
Pros: It is a very old house, old furniture and bathroom but everything is well maintained. Very clean. Bed is comfortable.
Cons: There was no A/C in the room even though it was advertised as part of the amenities. Very small room for 2 guests so A/C is a must. It becomes expensive when you don't get what you are supposed to.
Pros: The staff were amazingly helpful. When I needed to buy a new memory card they called around to find out where I could get one!
Pros: We loved the home, our room, and breakfast. It was a lovely stay.
Pros: My daughter and I stayed here at the Cottonwood for a mother/daughter weekend. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, Holly was making us feel “at home.” She made sure each day we had everything we needed and went out of her way to meet my dietary requirements :) The accommodations were clean and well maintained. We especially liked the remote feel of the location, yet a good launching off point to do some pretty fun activities. Our favorite was a wine bike tour that left from Suttons Bay and used the Tart Trail to visit a few wonderful local wineries. We also enjoyed the sunsets right on the beach in Empire! Would highly recommend not only the area (Empire/Glen Arbor) but the Cottonwood Inn B and B for your next getaway! Thanks Holly!
Cons: Nothing not to like!!!
Pros: Room was quiet and cozy and the location was perfect.
Pros: Bed was very comfortable
Empire Lakeshore Inn is centrally located in Empire, a 2-minute walk from Sleeping Bear Dunes Park Visitor Center and 8 minutes by foot from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Featured amenities include express check-in and express check-out. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Very clean linens, bed comforter,
Cons: AC a bit hard to control...get too cold, wait too long to turn back on when hot
Pros: Great location next to one end of Sleeping Bear Dunes NP and visitor centre. Walkable to beach and to handful of eateries in the village. Beautiful area.
Cons: We were allocated a room in the older annexe rather than the new and now main hotel. I would class these as basic motel rooms with very small bathrooms. WiFi was quite poor Housekeeping was almost non existent and there was sand in the bath when we arrived. Expensive for what was provided
Pros: nothing good to say
Cons: No welcome notes, rooms not cleaned only garbage taken daily. Didn’t even see any staff, they don’t really care about customers
Pros: Great location to Lake Michigan. Empire Beach is just right around the corner to watch the beautiful sunsets.
Cons: Not enough bathroom vanity space. Tub was so slow to drain. Beds were ok. Clean rooms but kind of outdated.
Cons: Located 5 blocks from lake. Certainly not" lake shore". Our room was old and worn. AC unit was noisy so sleeping was difficult. TV reception was fuzzy. Bathroom was extremely small with no where to set a shave kit. There are two buildings. One new and one old. We had the old one. The new looked much better.
Pros: Location. Empire is a cute little town.
Cons: Unbelievably horrible customer service. Completely inconsiderate. Made reservation in January, was put in the Annex (which is the original hotel building and is in desperate need of renovation and repair). When I asked why I didn't get a room in the newer hotel, I was told people who made reservations after the new building opened were put in the new building. So if you plan ahead, you got screwed and put in the old building (a dump). The mini fridge in the room didn't work. The bathroom is tiny, the room was muggy. But it was what I expected since I had been told, "it's an older hotel, but it's clean." I wasn't too thrilled but we wanted to make the best of our family vacation so we didn't complain. Then, the morning after the 3rd night, we woke up to a swarm of big black ants with wings all over the room. Not a good scene for my 5 and 10 year old to wake up to. It was gross and it creeped them out- and it creeped me out too, to be honest. I called 3 times that morning, left voicemails stating "The room is full of insects, you need to get over here to see this now!" but NEVER got a call back. We put the kids in the car and my husband and I started packing up. We opened the room door to let the flying ants out. Approx an hour and a half later I notice someone is in the office so I go over there to find Linda and the housekeeping lady talking in a whisper. By this time we were almost done packing up and there were few of the insects left in the room. I said "There are insects all over my room! I've left you 3 voicemail messages...". Guess what the housekeeping lady said ... she said "I've been telling Peter!!!..." I couldn't believe it, I got even madder because that means they were aware of the problem and ignored it!!! Then Linda the manager tried to tell me it was "normal" to have insects and I'm just not used to it because I'm from the city.
Pros: Very helpful at the front desk. Needed a downstairs room due the joint problems and they were able work it out. Loved the location and advice on golf course, scenic drive( a must) and places to eat. The scenic drive was a highlight.
Cons: Problems with tv remote but I never told them. We were too tired to use it!
Pros: The room was clean neat. Beds were comfortable Decor was pleasant and looked newly painted. IIt was nice.
Pros: It was a nice Location, clean and charm
Cons: The and the fridge wasn't cooling off. The a/c wasn't working ok.
Pros: Close to restaurants and shops! Short walk to beach!
Cons: Very small room and we were not comfortable. Had to sleep with my husband on the floor.
