The pool was great, room was nice A staff member was rude, took 2 trip down stairs and an hour and a half to get towels, there were dogs unleashed walking the hotel with owner, no ice machine, they had ice bags in this fridge and there were only 5 of them at a time in there.... pricy food option, pillows flat, and again bad staff
Customer service of check in receptionist when you could find them was poor. They didnt have answers nor were the helpful in any manor. The cleaning staff were very unorganized and did not have rooms available until the very last minute. It appears that this location was being managed and operated by college students who couldnt tell head from tell. I will not stay there again nor recommend a stay to anyone that values customer service.
The staff were very nice. We even had one waiting on an elevator and told us to go ahead so we wouldn't have to wait on another with all our luggage. The rooms were very nice and had a very modern look. Nothing it was very good.
excellent styling, great shower, loved the master power switch by the front door. great idea with the box that has all the hookups to connect any device to the big screen. loved the wine tasting; great atmosphere. you should include breakfast
The atmosphere was amazing and it was in a great location
The staff was great, extremely nice, they took me and my baby to get some medicine in the middle of a big storm.
The location is decent- nice restaurant and shopping choices within walking distance. Parking is easy. Beds are comfortable. Shower is a bit odd. Nice large TV. Noise is medium. I could hear a neighbors buzzing phone alarm every morning at 4:15am. I could also hear trucks at the 7-Eleven (I chose a room facing the 7-Eleven after reading a review that said it was the quiet side) The free breakfast needs much improvement. Those skillets are loaded with cheese and meat. Finally after five nights, there was an egg white veggie skillet sandwich, but it had ham! The yogurt is open in a big bowl. I'd rather have single serve containers for freshness and safety. I ended up buying my own yogurt cups and blueberries at the nearby Harris Teeter and kept them in the fridge in my room. I suggest Hyatt Place offer boiled eggs and oatmeal every day. The oatmeal was served two out of 5 days and on the last day it was so watery, i couldn't eat it. The staff needs to do a better job refilling the breakfast, coffee and hot water.
The extra sofa and sitting area was a nice addition The walls were paper thin. It was horrible. Children running back and forth, jumping, stomping , and wresting in the room above at 8 in the morning was great. Not to mention the drunks next door yelling, laughing, playing music loudly until 6am was even better. Never Again
Fresh clean room, good location, breakfast bar pretty good Workout room closed due to remodeling
Cold shower Tv didnt work Room had a odor Bed wasnt clean
Nice and clean hotel. Bathrooms well stocked. Fire alarm sounding at 5:00am due to leak in main lobby. No communication to guests in order to explain sitaution. All water to hotel was shut off until further notice. We checked out by 6:30am with no breakfast provided due to damage.
Room is super clean, updated recently it seems, good noise insulation. great price, great location. Good bed, good pillow, good shower, hot water ! Fitness room was dirty, sweat visible on exercise machines.
It was clean, most staff was friendly & helpful. Pool opened too late in a.m. was given a key to a room, after having an online reservation, to open the door at 6:30 p.m to find the room in the process of being cleaned. Had to go back downstairs to work it out & leave my elderly mother with all the luggage. Had to go back & get her, & luggage and go to another floor & room after traveling 9 hours that day.
My previous experience with this location had been great. My return was for our anniversary and we ended hoped to get the same room. The room rate was the only pleasure in this facility. The sheets and towels had visible stains, the shower rod was broken, there were holes in the walls, lots of rust and the refrigerator smells.
The young mens who did the cleaning and passed the lines out was very friendly and helpful. I wanted to print some stuff off for work. The manager didn't have any ink. He kepted coming in there with empty cartridges. Therefore i stayed there for four day. No ink was never put in the printer. The woman who prepared the food for breakfast. Had a cold and she kepted coughing over the food. She never put any gloves on a lone with being very rude.Threw out our whole stay housekeeping would always knock on the door trying to rush us out so they could clean the room. Last day I think she was the housekeeping supervisor knocked on the door very rudely and said check out is 11:00. When it was only 10:30. The only front desk person who was friendly was the young lady with the braids.
The staff was friendly, the room was clean and it satisfied our needs for being there one night. There was a courtesy call as we were still moving in so we didn't have time to have questions as our bags were still on our shoulders. We appreciated the call. We had four people to a room and only two towels were provided. The refrigerator was loud and made a lot of noise. The coffee was undrinkable. If this was an extended stay we would have made other plans but since it was for just one night we made due.
I had a terrible experience. The staff was anything but nice. This was the third night I stayed in a week. The staff member that I found to be the most disturbing was the head honcho of the laundry room. I requested a clean blanket and she became very nasty with me because she was about to get off and helping me would have delayed that. At one point she actually said that her problem was that certain types of people felt the need to talk to her. I really felt like she was being racist and that really bothered me. She said this while she was in the lobby so there is proof. When I came in I noticed how much she seemed unhappy and she was really rude to me when I really was attempting to many make her change her disposition. I have no intention of returning. She made it to where I was afraid to ask her for anything I needed. If you would like to try to change my mind about returning please call (757)576-0375. Thank you for your time and consideration
It was Clean. The heat sucked, tough time keeping the temp warm in the room, and the people they stayed were noisy after 1am.
Lack of water pressure in bathroom sink, one waste baskets in the room only one was there
The staff was very friendly! Our room service price. We ordered two hamburger meals and two sweet teas and the price was almost $50. The sweet tea was $3 and change for a small glass. Was not enough at all for our meal. The meals were good but not for the price.
Staff went out of their way to be kind. Mariya, at the front desk, arranged an upgraded room for us which was beautiful. She was delightful, very professional and so personable. Workout room was clean, equipment in good condition. Nothing, our stay was excellent.
Staff was very friendly to myself and the children
Nice clean rooms and lobby. Good continental breakfast. They were undergoing some renovations which left the hotel corridors looking a little rough. Would have been nice to have some signage to apologize or pardon the dust during renovation.
The people are super friendly. Free breakfast. I felt super safe at the hotel. No complaints. Everything was to my liking.
Everything! The people were nice. The venue is gorgeous. The atmosphere felt welcoming and romantic. The room was comfortable with great views. I can't wait to return. The ice machine was only on the first floor. We were on the 17th floor.
All the staff we encountered were very friendly. I didn't go past one person who didn't say hi and ask how our stay was going.
$10 a day for parking? Nice hotel, you pay for what you get, and then you realize you pay for inconvenient parking in downtown Portsmouth. If this were NYC or DC I'd get it but Portsmouth? The parking should be included.
The overall ambience was amazing, felt quite luxurious, staff was very friendly helpful and accomadating The style and design of the bathrooms, felt generic compared to rest of hotel. I understand likely done for ease of cleanliness but felt out of place compared to the room and rest of the hotal
Hotel staff and accommodations were top notch. Would absolutely stay here again!
Parking is horrible. Very hard to even get to the entrance since there is no actual large enough driveway. Even with valet parking had to wait to even be able to get close enough to actually hand keys over. Other option is off site parking garage in walking distance around the corner.
Nothing Shady crowd, room didn't lock, rude management, tried to refuse a refund after my husband had to stay in room over hour to wait until they tried to fix lock- didn't even apologize.
Beautiful hotel. Nothing.
Very comfy bed and clean room. Very nice staff Wallpaper was peeling off the walls
The location That we had to pay $19 a day to have my car parked there. I asked the valet guy to park it on the first floor... He took it to the 3rd floor. The terrace was filthy. Sticky carpet in the hallway.
Location was great. Bed was comfortable. The parking situation was a joke. There was a line a mile long for the valet, which was the only option. My AC didn't work, so the room was incredibly hot. I told the front desk about it, and they didn't do anything about it.
Valet staff was extremely nice. All staff was but valet staff was so kind. I did not have a working toilet and I called for maintenance and no one came to fix it.
great mattress oversized rooms good downtown location Not a great value $19 for parking on Saturday night
Helpful Staff, comfy beds Valet Parking is awful. Hotel needs to identify local events that may crest additional demands on valet staff, then use that info to bring in extra people when necessary. When we stayed, there were two college graduations at the same time which created a huge backup on Saturday morning; the suggested 15 minute lead time to have car brought up by valets was about 30 minutes too short. Give valets at least 45 minutes, hour may be better.
Great, safe location for seeing downtown Norfolk sights including Nauticus and Wisconsin. Easy walk from hotel to Nauticus, so we didn't have to move the car. This isn't specific to this hotel, but Courtyard's approach to breakfast is very susceptible to long delays during busy times. Hampton Inn and Hyatt Four Points buffets are more efficient (and just as satisfying).
Location is really good! No parking included and it wasn't advertised.
Comfort, location, service
Two bedroom suite was spacious. Beds were very soft. Breakfast in the morning was good. The pool was clean. Front desk staff super friendly. Kitchen utensils were dirty. I didn't use the coffee pot because it was dirty. The carpets in the hallway needed vacuuming.
We could bring dogs and it wasn't like other hotels where our dogs sniff u r in everywhere. It was a clean room. The 'dog walk' was way too far from our room and the dogs could never have 'held it' that long so we just went down the steps right outside our room and the front of the building.
The complimentary breakfast. The majority of the meat was pork but when we asked for turkey bacon and sausages they provide them. The maid services were in lconsistent at best. We didn't have our room servied one of the days even after they confirmed our request
Liked the breakfast. Truly appreciated the staff accommodating us regarding not eating pork products. Staff daily made us turkey bacon/turkey sausage. The beds were a little hard and could have been more comfortable.
I enjoyed the service and friendliness from the staff. I had a slight problem with my door and it was resolved immediately (no waiting). The room was had everything needed for my stay. This was my third time staying at this location. This is very minor but I don't like the size of the pillows. There were more than enough but just a little too small.
Location Water views Price Rooms are noisy Parking is inconvenient Facility is dated
I didn't like the fact that the room didn't have a microwave or refrigerator.
Very clean, overall comfortable, except for super cold bar (A/C set very very strong) I disliked the cheapness of the place: sort of nickel and dime low-cost behaviour which I find offensive: no free parking for guests, had to pay $12 to park the car in a parking two blocs further or use a valet service for double the price. Wireless everywhere but costs money. Breakfast not included and quite expensive. Reception staff a bit distracted and despite a big reception desk, only one employee: had to queue to check in.
Great fitness center.
i like the cleanliness in my room, very comfortable bed, room service, free Internet access, location of the hotel.
Worse experience ever Worse hotel I have ever stayed in
The view from the river facing rooms. There were stains on various objects (doors, curtain) and the bathrooms were small.
Location very uncomfortable, because of disturbing behevior of other guests and very poor noise isolation - you can heard every noise on a floor, ice and wending machine, even outside conversations on entrance.
Very convenient location to conference site. Great view to waterfront. Very good breakfast dining. Because I used a hotel site for the reservation, there was some confusion as to which room was reserved. I was told with a balcony but didn't get it when I checked in. But that was fine for this time since I was rarely in it.
nice location, in the center, close to the water So room service after 11 PM and no minibar in he room, which is quite weird for such a 5 star hotel.
Loved the hotel the staff was friendly and even gave me a free upgrade to the water view!!! The hotel was clean and sharp looking. We stayed for two nights....and they did not clean our room.
Good Clean Room, flexible checkout time, quiet and comfortable beds.
Got a great day on this room for 2 days. You get what you pay for. The room was clean and functional for sleeping however the amenities were either non-working or scarce. The toilet stopped up and over-flowed. The fridge in the room did not work. The staff gives no instructions to flip the switch for it to work. Even when I did so it was non working. Bathroom toiletries were scarce. My room had 1 bar of soap. Just 1 tissue in the box and I had to go stock the items from the housekeeping cart myself since they were not in my room upon check in. Only 1 phone worked in my room when the front desk called me. The other phone did not work at all.
The price was right for the location We saw the largest cockroach we have ever seen in the food area and did not eat there ....gross!
I didn't like anything I had to go buy dishes because they had absolutely no dishes. I had to buy pots and pans because they didn't have enough. Waiting for v staff to come to the front counter was like was waiting for a new born to talk. And when I turn on the heat the air came on all night m
The location of our room as well as the actual Hotel. The closet door was on a slider track and broken. My pillow case had a red stain on it. Park of the parking lot was taped off and closed,I suppose for repaying gower it seemed fine to me.
I had a great experience at the hotel. I travel a lot for business and the ammenities and services at this hotel were exceptional. Highly Recommended!
Very quiet during the night. No noticeable 'white noise' from elevators, traffic, people. Accommodations were very comfortable. Breakfast bar was mediocre
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
Location and living room area separate from the room. I did not like breakfast selections. I did not like dinner foods offered. I
The room was spacious Beds were small sized
Location,Cleanliness and Location. Upon arrival entrance locked no staff available. Had to go to nearby hotel to call Homewood Suites to let me in.
Location. Charged us $25 for incidental when we had none. Credited our account when we questioned the charge.
Breakfast was amazing, beds very comfortable Wished there was an indoor pool, and pillows were flat.
Fairly new hotel, very comfortable bed, quiet air conditioner. Nice, helpful staff. Really try to make you feel at hone.
