Good value for money. All you need for a stay; clean facilities and nice and friendly personnel.
As a foreigner, I would have preferred better skills in English.
Max rate must be no more than 20-30 euros

Good, basic pub-type hotel. Room warm and clean, with good facilities. Near cultural quarter, with bus and tram right outside door for station and shopping (five minute ride
I am from Istanbul of 15 millions of residents, I came to Essen for WHEC 2010 (Essen Messe) and had a very busy schedule. Essen is a small city, it was nice to walk on streets of Essen while I was going back to hotel after the congress each day. The owner of the hotel and his wife are decent persons, it was nice to have chat with them and they have good breakfast service, too.
Unfortunately there was dust on the vanity top and in front of the mirror. The cleaning lady forgot to put the clean towels while she got the used ones from the room. Cleaning service should be done more carefully.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The personal touch + the quality of the room, service, good breakfast, cleanliness

It's location
Poor room servicing, no shampoo after the first day. Also very poorly lit in both the room and parts of the breakfast room
The room was clean and breakfast was good.
Although the staff were friendly, they didn't speak much English (if any!) so was very difficult to communicate.
It was a little basic but clean, staff were friendly. quite noisy with the tram on the road and some bars opposite. Generally good value for money though.
It was a bit noisy, but manageable with earplugs.
I was amazed of the high standard, unexpectedly. I just came from a 4+ star hotel in Cologne which was very poor and unsatisfactory. Brunnen was far better than this, and very good for being a 2 star hotel.
With a stay at Brunnen Hotel in Essen (Stadtbezirke II), you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Messe Essen and CentrO. Featured amenities include an elevator and a vending machine.
