9.5 Excellent
Pros: Huge, super clean room within a beautiful place. The breakfast was outstanding, we especially loved the homemade yoghurt. Lovely hosts too.
Cons: Worth bearing in mind that there is no AC so our room was extremely hot during the recent heatwave.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet environment and a nicely refurbished old building with clean and spacious rooms. The host is helpful and easy to communicate with. Breakfast was fresh and very nice.
Cons: The mattress was too soft for both of us and we could barely sleep. The size of the bed is small in such a big room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The place is absolutely fabulous, an old elegant manor in the village of Ay, surrounded by hilly champagne vineyards…. The room (more like an apartment…) was spacious and comfortable, with a nice antique feeling but all the modern comforts. The hosts were helpful and friendly, and breakfast was super. We also appreciated to be able to park inside the property.
Cons: Wish we had stayed longer
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Elegantly furnished spacious room with a large modern bathroom. Isabelle was helpful and responsive with our requests. We asked to have fan in our room, which made all the difference during a heatwave, and she provided restaurant recommendations and made the booking. The breakfast was very good.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: No air conditioning - very uncomfortable trying to sleep
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We felt really welcome and received great recommendations for dinner and help with getting to paris
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly host and she went out of her way to get us gluten free bread for breakfast the second day, once we passed on the croissants the first morning. Just around the corner from Bollinger Champagne house, not to mention 30 other Champagne houses within walking distance. She also gave us a great tip for an all-day champagne tour to small winegrowers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous property, very large and elegantly arranged suites, delicious breakfast and exceptional host. Quiet and peaceful in a small and beautiful village. Perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the region.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stylish and spotless
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was HUGE! We enjoyed having the extra sitting area, so we didn't always have to sit on the bed. The breakfast was delicious and the owners were very kind and attentive.
Cons: The parking area and entrance were a little tight for a our SUV, but we made it work!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place, nice location in champagne, we brought our bikes and this was a super place for road biking, very nice and helpful hosts!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Decoration of the house and the rooms. Location of the property.
Cons: The owners needed to be present and awake to open the door in the evening. This meant that we had to agree on a certain final time of arrival when we went out in the evening. This has never caused a problem, but it would have been nicer if the entrance can be opened with a card or key independantly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast, lovely home cooked food and jams and freshly made smoothies. Ann-Sophie and Frederic were so kind and thoughtful and very welcoming.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A perfect gem close to the champagne.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the second time we have stayed with Fred and Anne-Sophie. What a lovely couple they are, we are made to feel welcome every time we have visited. The food is outstanding and I couldn’t recommend eating with them more highly! We will certainly be back to see them again in due course.
Cons: We couldn’t stay longer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous decor inside. Mega comfortable bed. Beautifully clean inside and out with the most magnificent view of the vines. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and beautifully laid out. We had an evening meal one night with food to die for and food allergies all catered. My sister and husband joined us for the meal, even though they were staying elsewhere but we asked Sophie in advance and they were exceptionally kind and generous to allow them to come. We had a most convivial evening with 4 other guest (delightful Italians), and I would highly recommend that anyone has at least one meal cooked by Fred - the best meal we had in France all summer and I know my food! We very much hope to return!!
Cons: Being British, we would have liked a kettle in our room with tea/coffee making facilities - but this is a minor point.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hosts who went out of their way to ensure we were well fed (we arrived late) and knew where to visit in the surrounding areas.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We came as guests and left as friends. Enjoy a very good breakfast and and make shure to take the advantage and stay in the house for Dinner. Champagner as a starter in a cosy athmosphere and then proceed into Frederic‘s kitchen. Don’t ask for the catch of the day.Just eat at the big table what he prepares. You will like it ! Enjoy your dinner with Fred and Anne Sophie like we did.

Pros: Beautiful, comfortable, superb decor. No TV so calm and can walk into village. Really good restaurant : la Comedia. Excellent French breakfast. Delightful people. Lovely gardens in the champagne vines

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully decorated room. All the details were well thought out. Very comfy bed. Charming hosts. Close to Avenue de Champagne plus the centre of Epernay but on a quiet residential street. Pretty courtyard garden. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly and charming owners. The decor, the comfortable bed , the stunning breakfast and the tranquil garden where we enjoyed a complementary bottle of champagne. The property also houses a gallery, antiquities and Marie’s paintings and studio. All in the centre of Épernay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners/hosts are some of the most genuine and lovely people you could ever ask to interact with at a B&B! The accommodations, breakfast, location, and hosts more than exceeded our expectations! our only regret is that we did not plan to stay here and in Epernay longer. We will most certainly return to Epernay and stay again at Au Jeu de Paume!
Cons: Everything was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect from start to finish. The host’s attention to detail was superb. Would definitely recommend for a special treat.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful decor, inside and out. Great to have tea making facilities all day long. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was spectacular with fresh juice, eggs, yogurt, bread and jam, etc., etc. Private parking inside. A great antique shop too where we got a few things. We got a lovely bottle of champagne on arrival too - and the owners were welcoming and pleasant.
Cons: Would have been nice to have more privacy in the bathroom (the door is see-through) and some ability to take a shower without holding the shower handle. The antique bathtub is pretty, but difficult to manage if you just want a shower. (A very small thing but the toothbrush cup is chipped and glued back together - probably best to replace.) Would have been nice to have more products in the bathroom (cotton balls for example or ear swabs).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hosts - central location - quiet - secure off street parking - very clean rooms - excellent breakfast. I’m a hotelier so very picky and this B&B exceeded my expectations!
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Domaine Sacret Champagne Chambre d'hôtes in Ay, you'll be in the historical district, within a 5-minute drive of Moet et Chandon and Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, microwave in a common area, and refrigerator in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cute interior decoration, though lacking privacy if you’re travelling as friends. Amazing brunch.
Cons: The house champagne wasn’t great and the area didn’t have a lot of variety in restaurants.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very comfortable, and had secure parking meaning we didn't worry about leaving things in the car. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was big. It was lovely having Clarins soap etc. Everyone was very friendly, and it was nice having access to the honesty bar. Breakfast was good.
Cons: The aircon was very noisy, so I couldn't sleep with it on. And unfortunately Ay has little to offer - one restaurant that was somewhat over-priced and that's it. It appears to be the same for so many French villages, even in a touristy place like Champagne, and so it doesn't encourage one to stay in the area. While I'd recommend Champagne Domaine Sacret, I wouldn't recommend bothering with the area: Champagne felt very over-rated.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A newly converted, large room in a town centre residence. Everything about the place was luxurious, even to the Clarins toiletries in the shower-room. Our host was delightful, and provided a very professional wine tasting for guests shortly after we arrived. Breakfast was delicious, with many local products.
Cons: The whole experience was so luxurious and welcoming that it would be inappropriate to look fro make any criticism.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Traditional French property with secure parking in a very pretty courtyard. Beautiful room with quality toiletries and tea/coffee.
Cons: Nothing you could dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet comfortable location and quickly became part if 'the village'. Loved staying at a Champagne house with the honor system for paying so we were able to help ourselves to the champagne at any time. Location allowed walking access to many excellent champagne houses.
Cons: Some people may find it too quiet or not enough choice in restaurants.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the personal attention from the owner. She was very present and helpful! The room was amazing. Exceeded our expectations ten fold! The breakfast was delicious and we really enjoyed the other guests.
Cons: We loved it all!

Pros: We are young & don't have huge amounts of money, so at first Air B&B seemed like the better option. But the location kept us looking at it. However, having stayed there and opted for the dinner, this is a place which goes above & beyond. Very laid back with an emphasis on enjoying the most simple and profoundly important act of being in France & in particular being in Champagne. Gracious & accommodating hosts who helped us find all that we needed (including a nice r
Cons: This is an amazing place. If you don't like it, it's likely you should have stuck to Paris / some awful, gilded, Disney world of a hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Laure was an excellent host. She made me feel like we were old friends the minute we met. The horse room was large and comfortable. The bathroom sparkling. After being out all day, I didn’t want a restaurant dinner so she prepared a perfect one for me. Breakfast was also awesome. Finally, she went out of her way to locate a rental car and then drove me to the station. Vraiment merci beaucoup!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room had a separate sitting area that was nice, the bed was super comfy and the breakfast was excellent! Breakfast included a home made berry and almond coffee cake, great coffee, egg, ham, cheese, baguette, jams that tasted like just picked fruit, local honey and fresh squash orange juice! There was street parking available and it was a 5 minute walk to the town center. This was the perfect place for us. Laure was also very helpful with places to visit and especially knowledgeable about which champagne houses to visit. Laure also welcomed us with an aperitif before we went to dinner in the little courtyard—more delicious homemade bites and a great glass of local champagne. We chatted with the other couple staying at the B& B and we enjoyed the company and champagne so much that we were able to purchase a bottle to share. Loved, loved, loved this place!
Cons: The toilette area was a little small, but was fine for us.

Pros: Good value for money for a castle in the countryside with nice Bath, Bed and atmosphere. Lovely wooden Bridge crossing by car.
Cons: It is more a B&B than a Hotel so, obviously do not expect hotel services (No TV etc) not a problem for me but people should be aware before. Nearest town is a good 10 min drive also. Pros: This was a lovely chamber d'hote in the middle of the champagne region. We were given a warm welcome as well as a glass of their own bubbly. The owner recommended a lovely restaurant nearby and also rang them to book us a table. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed a very nice breakfast which included some delicious champagne cake. We would definitely stay there again.
Cons: if we had known we could have booked an evening meal there
7.5 Good
Pros: The owner is lovely. She is happy to share her knowledge of the region and champagne.
Cons: The bed was little too bouncy. Shower was ver small. The rooms are under the roof and there is no air conditioning.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything, fantastic peaceful sleep, naturally cool and very quiet. Excellent room with comfortable bed and great shower. Breakfast good with good selection of local produce and a glass of champagne. We arrived very late due to traffic and all was locked up but after speaking with a neighbour the owner came out and greeted us, absolutely fantastic and very accommodating.
Cons: The location was in a delightful village some way out but hard to find as very rural.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcome champagne drink, free coffee tea, visit to their champagne making area, owner extremely hospitable, good breakfast and very clean.
Cons: no meals other than breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed, great location, lovely hosts!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location to stay if you like small towns. We loved the care Florence took to show us around the champagne making facility. The breakfasts were beautiful! The room was cosy and very clean and the owner very friendly.
Cons: Vauciennes has no shops or places to eat, so you need to drive 3-5 km for a restaurant and around 5-7 km to a supermarket. This is not necessarily a negative, but you need to be aware of it. It would have been nice to have somewhere to sit outside to drink a glass of wine or picknick. There was no real garden for guests and the attic with the 4 guest rooms does not have any great windows to enjoy a view. The wifi does not work upstairs in the rooms or common area.

Pros: Where to start? Our third visit and outstanding in all respects. Friendly and personable as well as efficient and professional, a rare combination of easy relaxation and everything a top notch hotel should be. They have a sense of humour and are very helpful.
Cons: We were unexpectedly upgraded on arrival and our room was fabulous. To choose a flaw seems unfair. The only thing that would have helped in the intense heat would have been a pool of some kind, just to cool off.
7.5 Good

Pros: the fancy rooms, the beautiful garden, the very good lunch and excellent dinner, very friendly and helpful staff, the massage, the cleanliness
Cons: too close to main street, where one could hear the noise
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is very good and in a nice country setting. Hotel facilities excellent and the food quality absolutely exceptional. Our one 'complaint' was the small room that we were given and having to get into the bath to have a shower.
Cons: Room size and bathroom facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The dinner in the evening was excellent , the sommelier’s wine recommendations were very good, as we only wanted one glass each For each coursecourse. Breakfast surpassed our expectations, the scrambled eggs were perfect. Great coffee and a very wide choice of food available. The gentleman who parked our car and did the luggage was such a nice man.
Cons: Our table in the restaurant was by the staff service area for the restaurant, at times when there were six of them there, it felt intrusive and upset the ambiance of the meal. We were awaken in the morning by an alarm set on the phone for 6.45am, set I presume by a previous guest, I did inform reception who said they would check it out, perhaps a role of housekeeping when preparing the room for a new guest, they check the phone for any preset alarms.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was very good. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was excellent but a little pricey. The hotel gardens were lovely.

Pros: Sophisticated, decor amazing, bed was incredibly comfortable, we loved it and it was a magnificent find
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff, beautiful surroundings, lovely atmosphere.
Cons: We had a comfort room which was on the top floor in the attic space. Whilst a reasonable size room, the slanted ceiling was difficult to negotiate due to height
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very kind welcome and Service... (think her name was Agnes) Beautiful suite, lovely bathroom... Nice pool.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location on the Avenue de Champagne, pool, very friendly staff and beautiful house
Cons: we had to pay 15 euros extra for the parking, which is a bit ridiculous considering the category of hotel, and the price of the stay
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: This was an extremely overpriced and poor hotel
Cons: This was in no way a 5 star accommodation. It is significantly overpriced - you have to pay for car parking and for breakfast. Cleanliness was exceptionally poor; the facilities are lacking with no food available during the day or evening and the pool area and bar area were extremely poor. I would also not recommend a stay in Epernay! Poor facilities and unwelcoming place

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice chatelaine..booked restos etc. It's a good cheap-ish stop if you're overnight before the tunnel in pleasantly decorated comfortable room
Cons: Ay is a very weird place - it's an Art Deco industrial estate for producing Champagne which is fine but the hotel is stuck in the middle of all this and Ay is completely dead at night - not in the sense of no nightclubs or "vibrant" bars - it's just stone dead, no brasserie, no resto, no bar, rien...so you have to drive into Epernay and worry a bit about the bottle the two of you drink over dinner. Anyway, stuff it... I had another glass and and a cognac before driving back..result....
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel in a quiet part of this quiet town. Nice pool and comfortable room.
Cons: Breakfast is massively overpriced . 16 Euros for a continental selection is just too much.

Pros: Great location, walking distance to many nice champagne house. Swimming pool, nice breakfast, friendly staff
Cons: Everything was fine. Nothing to criticize.

Pros: The staff were warm and welcoming, and very attentive and helpful during our stay. The hotel is wonderfully located in the middle of the Champagne region and the town of Ay, and is full of charm. We had a family room, with adjoining room, and it was perfect for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was quiet, I think all the Champagne tours take place Monday to Thursday and we stayed on a Saturday. Breakfast was good and varied. Room was brilliant for a family of 4 (Family Suite) with a separate room with 2 singles beds and TV for the kids. Pool was an added bonus after a long hot drive from Switzerland.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We paid for Breakfast if that is considered an extra service for “bed and breakfast”! It was a lovely old building with a lift, A/C and a nice bathroom. Our group enjoyed the offering at breakfast.
Cons: We wish we had been told that the only place in the town open for food on a Sunday would not accept us without a reservation....we then had to retrieve the car and drive from village to village to Epernay to find anywhere open with one of our party who was quite frail.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old Champagne house that has been renovated.
Cons: There was no bar facilities other than the mini bar with one bottle of beer.

A bakery is located 50 meters walk from the house, parking is easy and free in front of housing.
6.3 Good
Pros: the personnel the cleanliness
Cons: -The bedding and bed quality plus the fact that the tittle of the property is written on the wall over it -with large characters- - there were no body-towels and no cosmetic products whatsoever
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Brand new, specious, modern and very clean accomodation in a charming village. Well equiped kitchen (stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker, microwave) and all you utensils you need... Outside space with garden furniture. Quite and relaxing. Great and friendly host.
Cons: Not a major problem, parking outside the entrance - on the main road.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very spacious. Modern fittings. Well equipped and a washing machine! Steep internal stairs that lead to big bedroom and very big bathroom. Close to tabac and Boulanger. A working village makes it interesting. Elodie was delightful even though we speak poor French and she speaks little English. It was great having a base in this hillside village.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful accomodation and has everything you need. Enjoyed the hot tub and lounging in the garden. When we arrived we were offered champagne from their sons vineyard. Was very lovely! Their English isn't good but so much better than my french haha. Google translate was helpful! They were very accommodating however they sat with us for breakfast which we found a little awkward being watched eating (they meant well) Overall I would reccomend here to anyone! It's beautiful and peaceful.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: our hosts were very welcoming & friendly, we were given a lovely glass of champagne on our arrival & a tour of their sons champagne house was arranged at short notice. The accommodation was quirky and comfortable we would definitely recommend the champagne & accommodation
9.3 Excellent
Pros: An excellent personal service, quaint and beautiful garden for our use, a vast knowledge of champagne and the region.
Cons: It's being picky, but the bathroom was a little small... But that was expected in the accommodation. You will need a car to get around for shopping and visiting, although it is possible to visit things on foot, it is limited.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sylvette and Patrice are very friendly and helpful. The garden is beautiful. WiFi works great.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hospitality in a lovely quiet village in the heart of the vineyards.
Cons: The price was a little on the high side
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A quirky place to stay. Compact but had everything we needed. Clean and comfortable. Hot tub was lovely after a long journey and super friendly host and hostess.
Cons: Not sure about the black toilet paper. A bit too quirky?!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners were simply lovely and welcoming. We were greeted with a drink of champagne, and what’s more they joined us. Our French is awful and their English minimal but through Google translator we got along fine. They then allowed us to finish the bottle alone when sat in the hot-tub. In the morning we were given a tour of the champagne cellar and this was also lovely. We ended up with three generations of the family with us. We look forward to returning, they were simply the nicest hosts during our trip to France!
Cons: Unfair to say anything really, the room and bathroom are not huge but we knew that when we booked. If you want oppulant comfort then don’t book but if you want to stay in a delightful painted caravan with the use of a hot tub then give it a try!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners were superfriendly. A little apero when we arrived, a nice talk with them about the region. Loves it!
Cons: There was a lot of decoration in the room, and not to much space to put you toiletries.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was terrific for visiting family owned or run houses of champagne. It was all so quiet and very restful the jacuzzi was outstanding. The caravan was very private and unique. the grounds were very pretty the view from the porch was nice and the use of the kitchen facilities was also terrific. Our hosts Patrice and Sylvette were ideal for B&B very warm enthusiastic and interested in our travels and in communicating with our broken French and their English. We would love to stay here again and spend all our time in Champagne.
Cons: Our suitcases were on the floor and we would have liked a folding luggage rack.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming quirky açommadation, small but well planned. Lovely terrace for picnics and enjoy in a glass or more. Lovely hosts, good French breakfast. Second visit did not disappoint
Cons: I would find a larger fridge useful as there are no restaurants nearby, to keep picnic food and wine chilled
