Nestled on 400 beautiful acres in Carroll Valley, Pennsylvania near the scenic Catoctin Mountains, Liberty Mountain Resort is convenient for both the bustling Baltimore and Washington DC metro areas, as well as all of south-central Pennsylvania. Located close to historic Gettysburg, the local area is rich in history and full of outdoor adventures, including retail therapy.

On-site amenities during the summer months include a large private outdoor pool and sun deck area. Around the area, guests can hike or drive to historic battlefields, Gettysburg National Military Park, President Eisenhower’s Farm, or many other museums and attractions. During the winter months, guests come to hit the slopes in multiple ways and visit the grand Boulder Ridge Lodge with fun for the entire family. All year-round guests can receive a wide variety of services at the on-site spa.

The 116 room Liberty Hotel offers three accommodation options, each offering unique venues and amenities. The Highlands Lodge boasts state-of-the-art meeting and conference space, two restaurants, a spa, and an indoor saltwater pool. Closest to the slopes, with cozy rooms and floor-to-ceiling views is The Alpine Lodge. Fairway Hotel is the golfer’s favorite which allows a stay right next to the 18-hole championship course.

Pros (+) I was there for a wedding. I would have given 5 stars, but the staff at the restaurant the next morning at brunch was rude on two occasions.
Cons (-) Brunch staff wasn't the most friendly.
