This place is beautiful! We loved the atmosphere and the warm hospitality. The afternoon pasteries are incredible and tasted so good after a day of traveling. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The decor was great for this location and the wood detail was amazing. We felt like we were in a storybook. The breakfast was plentiful with a lot of choices and the hot chocolate was great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a true "German" experience in the beautiful mountain atmosphere. I should have asked for directions to the hotel before leaving for our trip. It was a bit difficult to find late at night. It is off the main road that goes through town. People are very nice and we stopped at a gas station to ask for directions.
Nice area, decent breakfast, fairly quiet. No reception, dining room doubles as reception.
When we first arrived, we were offered free coffee and cake. Very nice! The hotel has a nice smell of fresh wood and has the feel of a modern log cabin. The rooms were very nice with unique decorations. We enjoyed being able to have a joined room for a family of six. Breakfast had a very nice variety of food. Just across the street at the river bridge you can see the Zugspitze as well. I would definitely stay here again.
They provided a small bar of soap They did not provide a wash cloth for the shower
Really good service, kind staff, nice location, and free cake with coffee!
The staff was extremely kind. Location was beautiful. The breakfast was tasty. The rooms were kept very clean.
Nice breakfast and friendly staff. I have a hard time trying to connect to the free wifi.
Great staff, friendly, & helpful. Wonderful breakfast included & coffee/cake all day long. WiFi in room was excellent with codes from staff. Will stay here again! Flat screen TV had at least 16 German channels. CNN/BBC should be part of service with many international guests.
This was a wonderful hotel. The rooms where large and well equipped. We had two rooms for this stay. The preferred room was the one with a balcony which provided excellent sunrise and sunset views of the mountains. The other room was fine, just no amazing views.
Small family-run hotel, very friendly and interested in guests' well-being. Nice view from the balcony.
The family Struger were so nice and helpful! they gave us good restaurant recommendations, they were always pleasant and made our stay there enjoyable! the view from our balcony was amazing!
The room was large and comfortable with a nice balcony. There was a genuine Ausrian bat/restaurant less than 100m from the front door and ade1quate parking. The hosts spoke adequate english and were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious.
Excellent experience. The hotel staff were lovely.
It's a family run hotel and I haven't seen that German hospitality anywhere in Germany. Those are some really nice couple!!! Nice antique hotel decor. Nice mountain view from the balcony. Only 5 minutes drive to Garmisch. It's a plus to have wireless internet also.My husband and I love to stay in this hotel over and over again.
Great breakfast and dining experience
Excellent value for money, good reasonable food , nice room great lighting over bed (not usual) and good bathroom. Would have liked more joined up thinking in colours - blue curtains and green and red bed linen
Clean and modern. Nice breakfast.
Our rooms were very comfortable with nice bathrooms and we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning.
The room was very clean and modern for Germany. Very limited parking but that is normal for Germany.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant had some excellent food. Breakfast was very good. They dont have an elevator, but the staff helped with the big bags and carried them to the room. The hotel sits on the corner of the 2 busiest streets in this small town. Street facing rooms are extremely noisy, till late at night. They did move us to another room, once we saw what the situation was. The biggest problem is this: The farmers bring their cows down from the pasture to their barns on these 2 streets. The cows go to the bathroom on the streets as they are walking, and the cars drive through it and the streets are brown for several hundred feet in both directions. Now this is quaint, but the problem is flies. There were flies in the lobby, the restaurant, the outside garden and inside our room. I think travelers should be aware of this, especially in the warm months, when you have to have your windows open.
Fritz, the manager, was very friendly and helpful. Too far out from Garmisch.
Location It is located on a very noisy main and side street and traffic goes at all hours.
The professionalism of the the staff, making you feel welcome and went out of the way to provide excellent service.
We were tremendously happy with our short stay at this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and as all the other reviews have stated, the restaraunt was amazing. With a child it is sometimes difficult to eat out in Germany due to the laid back meal which can often take a long time. This is the first restaraunt I have eaten at in Germany that I would consider to have very good flow from beginning to end and therefore the meal was not too long.
In the mornig,I could not take the shower.Because water could not be not so hot.
Spacious room, relaxed atmosphere, convenience to town centre and venue. Reasonable proced, good restaurant. The service was especially good and friendly. WiFi reception in room was not good .
Breakfast They gave us some rooms with old furniture, small and sharing bathrooms. These rooms are unappropriated for a four star hotel and prices we pay.
Hotel is well located in Garmish-Partenchirken and also for touring the surrounding region. The room was large and well equipped and the breakfast excellent. There is a good underground car park which I used at an additional cost. There was no wifi available in the room which i would expect with a 4 star hotel. To use it guests had to go to the reception area.
We loved how convenient the location was 5 minutes to pedestrian downtown district and 8 minutes walk to main train station/Zugspitz station, and 8 minutes to walking trails. Lovely breakfast included in sun room, nice amenities - spa, sauna, pool, and gym. Staff is friendly and helpful. Beds are hard, and decor is a little dated, but not offensive. We arrived prior to check in and they made us wait a few hours to officially check in - not unexpected. However, their accommodation for holding luggage leaves you with reservations. Instead of housing the luggage in a secured location we were instructed to place it in an unused conference room that anyone could walk into. We trusted it would be sufficient monitored and we did not encounter an issue - the set up is unusual in my experience.
The hotel was centrally located with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were very helpful.
Big comfortable room with table and sofa, nice terrase with table and chairs, good meals to have a fish dishes on the breakfast
The grounds and the hotel room was excellent! We enjoyed our stay there from start to finish.
Views and spacious rooms Not enough time to enjoy
The staff was extremely helpful, the breakfast was excellent and it was nice to have internet access in the hotel. No internet in the private rooms.
Indoor Pool for the kids. Excellent breakfast. Large rooms. Free public transportation voucher. Earlier check-in?
The location was walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. There was no parking, so we drove around for quite a while with 2 small children trying to park, which costs money, of course. Our double room was literally the same size as my brother's single room...but cost 30 Euro more. Military note - they did not accept my vat form. The bathroom was very small and not constructed well (gaps between ceiling and wall). No balcony & poor view.
Breakfast was outstanding!! No front desk staff overnight until 7:00 am
great location and excellent breakfast Lack of parking
Hotel is an easy 15 minute walk from the train station. Also convenient to everything & located in town. Staff was cordial & pleasant. Would definitely stay at the Atlas Posthotel again! No complaints. Mattress was softer than we were used to but you can find that at any hotel.
Location. We stayed here several years ago and went back because we enjoyed the hotel, the people staying there and the location. It appears to have slipped some but maybe we just caught it at a bad time.
Friendly staff, clean quiet rooms, views of the mountains. Excellent buffet breakfast. Good evening meals. Convenient bus stop.
Free breakfast buffet was outstanding No cots available for our children to use, despite reserving an apartment sized room. This required us to reserve a second room, significantly increasing our costs.
service and friendliness none
location . Good value. Friendly atmosphere
breakfast was good parking
The breakfast was very good at the main hotel and booking an apartment meant that there was an equiped kitchen and washing machine. There was no parking at the apartments which are separate to the main hotel and there was no internet service at the apartment.
scenery photos were not very accurate regarding the bathroon
Perfect for our group (2 parents, 2 grandparents and a 7 year old, plus a small dog). VERY helpful front desk. Great breakfast buffet. Very comfortable beds. Excellent hotel to stay at for that Bavarian experience. It is not far from the Edelweiss, which is the US military R&R center, but they allow dogs. Lovely & quaint small hotel. Nope.
friendy staff and comfortable rooms
Nice staff, great room with view. Great meals in restaurant. I liked everything.
Hot and cold buffet breakfast was excellent.
one of the great small hotels in germany. the staff is always there to help you, and the food at breakfast can not be matched by other hotelsthat i have stayed at, will be back for another stay
Set up well for families and hadicapped. Nice sitting area in rooms. Excellent breakfast. Had to pay extra for roll away bed we did not need. Bedding in room was sufficient.
The room was very nice. The lack of a pool and hot tub was a bit disappointing. And the breakfast, although a very good selection of food, was occasionally too cold.
The service was exceptional, with friendly staff and amazing breakfast. The location was superb, although a bit of a hike from the train station. Unexpected surprise to get free bus passes while a guest there. Sauna facility was wonderful Hotel room lighting was non-existent - very, very dark.
The breakfast buffet provided was adequate. Fresh fruit, cheeses, eggs and meats were provided. The pillows provided on the bed were extremely uncomfortable, providing no support whatsoever. The free parking provided by the hotel was in a very small area and I could not get parking there the first night.
Physically this is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are designed well and the ceiling woodwork is divine. The facilities are good and the location is amazing. We particularly enjoyed the restaurant/bar and the gentleman who served there. We were surprised that the used towels were not changed when the room was cleaned. Two of the front desk staff were inexperienced. When checking out the desk clerk was unable to figure out how to process the credit card. After 10 minutes we ended up having to pay cash as we were going to miss our train.
The setting, view a real culture experience The bed was a little hard
Loved the old stleofyheinn.
Great value. Excellent accommodations for the price and the breakfast was wonderful. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend to others.
Breakfast was amazing, the hotel was very clean. There was not very good lighting in my room. All of the lights worked, but were not bright. The toilet would not flush because it was not receiving water, the bathtub did not have a plug so we could not take a bath. The sauna was also out of order.
We were met at the reception by persons with excellent knowledge, service-mind and a good sense of humor. The room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very delcious and with a wide selection. No, everythibg was to our great satisfaction.
a clean and well decorated hotel, excellent breakfast, friendly helpful staff, easy walking distance of local shops and facilitys. no kettle or hot drink making equipment in room.
The deluxe double was very spacious with a wonderful view of the mountains. The bathroom was brand new and quite large for a European bathroom. Also, the breakfast was very, very good.
Well we have stayed there before and enjoyed it. So why not again.
Breakfast was wonderful and the pool was very nice--especially with the views. No
very good value, good breakfast, nice staff, comfortable bed
Breakfast was the only good thing about this hotel. The hotel was old and the room was hot and smelled of mold. Getting to the room was like traveling through a maze.
If you visit there by car, there are no problem. It is bit far from the city center by walk. Staffs are very friendly, kind enough and of course helpful. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. Heating did not work enough. It was not so chilly but not warm enough in our room. Hotel staffs said that the heating equipment was in trouble but fixed and it will soon get warm, when I claimed. But it did not get enough until morning.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The view from the balcony was magnificent and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Cannot find a reason to fault it.
Our room & balcony had a beautiful view of the Zugspitze. Easy walk to the town. The breakfast was great. WIFI would not work in the room. Small 12inch television with few non-english channels
Breakfast was included in the room cost, and it was excellent! The door on the balcony opened itself on a couple of occasions, but I didn't feel like it was much of a security threat given the area.
helpfulness of the staff no internet hookup in the rooms
Staff was excellent and very helpful. Rooms were nice and clean.
i suggest that the hotel should but Arabic channel and the their t.v machine was old
Food/quiet value/age of room furnishings
It has a great location and the great facilities. The staff were rude and price was too high.
Food is excellent. Staff is friendly. Nice and quiet environment. Hotel appear a bit worn. There is a long walk with your heavy gear. An alert Bell Captain could be usefull, perhaps equiped with a small electric pick-up.
My husband and I highly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very dog friendly, they set out dogs bowls in our room and there were close wooded walking trails for the dogs. Unfortunately it rained during our stay, but the tunnels and indoor facilities kept us very busy. And the close walking trails allowed us to walk our dogs without to much hassel. The parking garage is far from the rooms, but the hotel can help transport your luggage.
Large room. Excellent breakfast selection.
Quality room and restaurant
The facilities were good, the room was a good size with a nice balcony and the staff were nice and helpful. There were extensive renovations being carried out on the roads, carpark etc during our stay which caused difficulties with carparking, access etc. We were not aware of this when we booked. This will obviously only be a temporary problem, but people should be made aware beforehand.
The hotel was wonderfully quirky with the underground tunnels connecting the reception and car park to the separate houses. The grounds were lovely and the room was a good size with a small outside terrace and a well appointed bathroom. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were appreciated and we found all the staff very helpful and with a good grasp of English. The spa pool was lovely and we enjoyed meals in both the restaurants. The buffet breakfasts were wonderful - so much choice. It would have been good to have more local tourist information available at the hotel and some extra pillows in the room would be useful (although I am sure if we had asked at reception we could have got extras)
Outstanding breakfast, Very helpful staff, Quiet location, Wonderful Spa
Excellent hotel in a quiet area, with mountain views on all sides. Easy 10 min. walk to the town center, and to the train station for Zugspitze visit. Very nice breakfast included in the room price.
I really enjoyed a very warm hospitality and would surely recommend this hotels to my friends.
Excellent staffs and services. Clean room, quiet environment with mountain view. Breakfast is also very good. It would be better if the hotel can clean the table and the seats in the balcony as well.
Room comfort and staff courteousness and assistance. no tea/coffee faciliites.
a very pleasant atmosphere, a feeling of being welcome; attractive interior designs
Beautiful grounds and wounderful breakfast. Great quiet location but close to the center city. Not able to get onto the Internet.
The room was comfortable and the staff was great. I liked that there was a lounge room where you could enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.
This is the best place to stay in the Garmisch area. If you do not stay here, you will be sorry. Kind, considerate, caring owners. I will not stay anywhere else besides here.
Great service, very nice and cozy hotel. A+
Great hotel! Charming garden and impressive antique interior! No
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
Swimming pool, sauna and the restaurant I was told, prior to making my reservation, that the hotel took the VAT forms (tax forms), at check out they did not (cost me an extra 45 euros). Makes hotel guest an unhappy camper.
sauna and swimming pool are great The furniture in the holiday apartment was very old and/or very cheap. It was close to a parking place - too much noise.
hotel restaurant has very limited selection of meals ala card, breakfast was less than average
The town was lovely and the Church was spectacular. The hotel was in the middle of reservations and the receptionist directed us to our rooms as if there was access through these as normal. There wasn't. and when we got back to reception, there was no-one there. We wandered around for about 10 minuets until we met some workmen and they took pity on us. It was a trek into the next county to get to our room. This hotel is more like a nunnery or monastery than a hotel. Unable to use the Spa as it was closed. The breakfaast was sparse in the morning.
The food was great and it was across the street from the Kloster Ettal - a monestary that brews some very fine beer.
I stayed at the hotel last month, no issues using the VAT (19% tax savings form for the US Military). This time, the accountant wasn't there and the front desk staffed did not have a clue. Will have to drive to the local VAT office in Stuttgart and have them work the issue. As nice as the hotel was, and it was nice, made for a poor ending.
The beautiful scenery. Using a key for locking/unlocking the room from the inside!. This is a safety issue. No one should ever have to use a key to get out of a room!
Location, food, comfortable spacious bedroom, tastefully decorated throughout, easy parking. No direct access from reception to restaurant. No English translation of hotel information in folder in bedroom.
Good breakfest, clean bathroom. Be aware that smoking allowed everywhere in this hotel and you need to cross everytime reception (small room) with owners and they friends and they was smoke near all the time. We've been with small children,so our impression was unpleasant.
Staff, and especially "Gastfrau" is very friendly and always available. Nice quiet location, yet close enough to busy Garmisch.Dogs are very welcomed. Rooms are pretty basic, as usual in Europe. Many staff members smoke, so there's a constant smell of smoke. It elevates up to the floors through the hallways, so whenever you exit your room or leave the door open for a few minutes, one can smell it. Very disturbing. Also: breakfast meat wasn't always fresh; had been out for a a while.
The hotel staff were great. The restaurant in the hotel served a perfect bavarian dinner and we enjoyed the conversation, the staff spoke good English, the included breakfast was exactly what you would expect in Germany. We dropped off the a VAT form the day before we checked out and it was ready upon checkout. GREAT service. The upgraded our TV to a LCD during our stay. The room we stayed in was a little cold even with the heater turned all the way up and we did get a little noise from the traffic on the major street below.
Staff very good and helped a lot when Munich airport closed due to volcanic ash from Iceland. Nice restaurant and beer garden.
The hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. The service is great. The owner of the hotel is so nice to provide us what we need, and you feel that you are just at home. The small town is also very nice. I saw the most beautiful sky and stars in my life!
this is a nice tipical bavarian small hotel, good food. Good atmosphere.
Friendly welcome. Excellent breakfast. Balcony and view
Wonderful care of guests. All needs preempted. Expectations all exceeded. Very friendly personal atmosphere. We did not like leaving!
Perfect location, excellent service and food This is a spa hotelWe had a problems with massage procedure(no free places for the procedure)
This hotel is a "gem"!! I would come back to Germany just to stay there. When we first arrived we were greeted by the very friendly staff who would do anything to make your stay enjoyable. Our room was very cozy but beautiful!! We had a breathtaking view from our room and the bathroom! We wished we could have enjoyed the deck outside our room but we didn't have the time. The restaurant had a wonderful breakfast and a very friendly staff and was quite cozy and pretty. The bar and sitting area was my favorite with live music and wine. I can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. It is a MUST STAY in our books!!! It was the BEST!!!!
Wellness Residence Staudacherhof was a lovely, comfortable inn. The staff were friendly and energetic. Breakfast, which was included, was abundant and delicious and the one dinner we had was delicious as well.
I spend 200+ nights per year in hotels, and I have a hard time remembering a hotel where the staff was friendlier than inthe Staudacherhof!
I loved the atmosphere and the professionalism of the staff! The room overlooked the main boulevard and we could hear the noise of the traffic
A very comfortable, peaceful hotel with good facilities and excellent restaurant. People smoking in the restaurant.
The staff was helpful welcoming and the facilities were amazing. The hiking was great and could walk everywhere! nothing
Welcoming, comfortable and spotless.
Everything! Staff, restaurant, whirlpool, swimming pool were ALL wonderful! The view they gave us was great, too! Maybe have the sauna open all day and the swimming pool could have been a little warmer.
Very good place to stay
1. Hotel staff are very friendly 2. Restaurant food is good 3. Room with living zone is comfortable and hotel building itself shows long-established atmosphere. 1. Inside of hotel is comlicated to go to your room, restraunt and garage etc. 2. One of waiter at restaurant is arrogant 3. Breakfast is so so.
Very professional and friendly staff. Great location.
The Location - halfway between Partenkirchen and Garmisch. The Sauna and Pool area was good too. The smoking - although hard to avoid in Germany!
Nice hotel, a bit overpriced for the room. 5 star hotel that felt the same as many 3 star hotels we stayed at in Germany.
Everything! The service was wonderful, the staff couldn't be more professional, the sauna and steam facilities were lovely and the room was huge, very comfortable with a great bathroom. I'd definitely stay here again!
Beautiful place and calm staying near the lake Very poor condition of spa area: old furniture, not very clear on surfaces, very uncomfortable and dirty dressing rooms. Very disappointed.
I liked the location of the hotel for the lake, as well as free car park, swimming pool and spa and beautiful morning breakfast, you can feed the ducks on the lake, my wife loved it so much ! Internet is not free and no elevator to reach my room on the first floor in a building e , I have to use the stairs .
Absolutley fabulous in every aspect. None
We didnt like it at all. The hotel was too noisy.I Felt like sleeping in the bowling alley. The hotel staff didnt care about that, even at 2am they allowed a bunch of loud and inpolite people to make noise in front of the hotel (the receptionist had a good view on them from his desk).Spa and Wellness service esp. Massage does not reach the four star hotel expectation. If you can call it massage at all.
The entire staff we met was friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional, location and convenience, the scenery, the manager's welcome reception, all exceptional. We will stay there again as we travel to this area 3-4 times a year. Also, all public toilets were always clean and well stocked.
Wonderful massage staff and facilities. Ambiance with snow incredible.
The Spa and Wellness was open and available from early till late. The Breakfast was amazing. The rooms comfortable and the lodge and bar very nice with the huge fireplace. parking is for free and the view is spectacular. A cab into the city only about 9 euros.
The surrounding area was lovely and, although I didn't get to use them, the spa facilities looked very inviting. We arrived very late 11pm and we were very hungry but the kitchen had closed at 11pm. I thought we could have been offered at least some bread and cheese, this wouldn't have been difficult.
The location of the hotel and friendliness of the staff.
The location and the wellness area were just superb! Also when I asked to upgrade to a suite it was no problem at all. The first night we had to wait an hour after we ordered in the hotel restaurant Alte Bob before we received our meal. The restaurant was not full or busy and I feel this was totally unacceptable from a 4+ hotel.
Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains, free mini-bar and cappuccino maker. Room service was great and the food was wonderful. The indoor pool was kept at just the right temperature and included a plunge. The sauna rooms and hot were also nice and not a hassle to use. All of the spa services were booked so I am unable to comment on them. The restaurant was extremely hot to us and the room was also very warm but we were able to open the doors in our room to cool it down.
Beautiful location where you can do everything you want or absolutely nothing. Convenient to everything you need.
Our varanda allowed a direct view to Zugspitze Mountain. The hotel is within walking distance to the center of Garmish-Partenkirchen. It was not about the hotel itself but about the fact that we spent a week-end there without knowing that it was a national holiday (Integration of Germany). We should have thought about it, but it is an aditional service your company could provide. The problem was that almost everyting in town was closed, saturday and sunday.
Staff was very friendly and helpful...receptionists and restaurant staffs spoke English well. Although the majority of clients were mature, our 4-year old was made to feel very welcome. Hotel was exceptionally clean, nicely appointed and centrally located to Garmisch's shopping/restaurants. Spacious underground parking is well worth the daily fee.
I was very appreciative of the hotel staff at the front desk and in the dining room. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful. I would recommend this hotel as being wonderful.
Good breakfast, large grand hotel, room with balcony and great view, room service Hotel was a bit tatty in places.
Location and their facilities. The beds were very soft and well used.
I did not enjoy my stay at the Sonnenbichl. The bed was too small and the room was very small for a double room. The TV did not work properly. I paid for a room with a mountain view and there was no mountain view since the view of the Alps was blocked by large trees. When I went to speak to the front desk about these items, it was very difficult because their Enlgish was poor. This is probably the last time I will use booking.com for my travel plans as I feel your website is a misrepresentation of the actual hotel.
The locaton is excellent, the people at the reception desk were exceptonally helpful The breakfast was excellent; however the evening meal was just average. The maitre de was so absorbed with the table next to ours that he pretty much ignored the rest of the diners. Also, during my stay, the trash in the bath was never emptied. It was half full when I got there, totally full by the time I left.
It was a really lovely place to stay.
Very pleasant stay. We had planned to stay two nights, but it was so nice that we opted to stay four nights. Rather than relocate to relatively nearby attractions, we decided to stay at the Sonnenbickl and drive back and forth to the areas in Berchtesgaden and Austria. I probably would not recommend doing this as weekend traffic was very bad. Breakfast was very expensive-almost $40 per person. We did not eat there.
The environment and the facilities. Noisy rooms on the road side.
Quiet and good food Not enough diectional signs to the hotel. Some were missing and casued a lot of stress trying to find the hotel. Incluse a map and directions with booking
We booked our hotel on Booking.com, but when we went to check out they quoted us 24 Euro over our Booking.com price. They were also rude and had no information about the town, hiking, etc. The breakfast wasn't that good. I will definitely not stay in this hotel again next time.
Poor gym; not maintained and ill equipped.
Very good location next door to the train station, bus station as well as Zugspitze Bahn. Clean room. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Pillows were terrible - worst I ever had
Great location. Staff took 15 minutes to divide our bill by 3! Not good at giving advice re the location r things to do. One young girl was abrupt and very unfriendly.
Close to city center, breakfast was also very good. It was nothing special, I would rather stay in a small pension...
Arrived during teh Euro Football toutnament - it was very very noisy late into the night.
It's close to the train station. We had a very early train to catch so it's very convenient. The hotel is quite dusty. There was dust on the room's telephone - feel like it hasn't been cleaned for a while. Shower room is quite small.
Quaint and charming. Beautiful view of mountains behind the hotel. Lots of shop and restaurants nearby. Only thing is the room is very small and the bathroom was tiny. No washcloths or hairdryer, etc. good for one or two people. We had two teens with us and the extra beds they brought in were toddler sized beds and then there was no room to walk in the room with the extra beds. Otherwise, I would reccommend this hotel. Great location in Garmisch and owners or mangers were very kind. Thanks
Could not complain about anything, the only hitch was the single room was a none smoking as requested but someone had been smoking in it, told the front desk and I got the room changed without any problem, food was excellent
It was close to the train station, shopping and a variety of restaurants.
Proximity to station and central Garmisch
The fantastic view from our room and the friendliness of staff
It was beautiful! I loved taking a private cable car up to the hotel. What a view! Very cute rooms; good breakfast buffet.
the location - a nice surprise for just an overnight stop on a trip to Italy. I would go back there if I were in the area.
The view and atmosphere.
very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Very helpful staff. The Bavarian clothing of the staff was a great touch. So was the Bavarian music on Saturday. The toilet in room 109 "rocks" - it is not fixed well enough to the floor. Bathrooms are very private and need to be especially clean and functioning. Otherwise it influences the overall impression of the room. More information on your wellness facilities when guests arrive - possibilities, price etc.
I liked how it was family friendly. My kids enjoyed the outdoors, but also enjoyed the outdoor playground, and the indoor toys. The staff was very friendly and it was a very relaxing weekend. I can't say there was anything that I did not like at the hotel.
Getting to the hotel by cable car was fun and a beautiful way to see the river and the mountains. Also, hearing the faint clanging of the sheep and cow bells as they walked the hillside near the hotel was great and surprisingly relaxing. We travel with 2 dogs and are always extremely happy when we find beautiful, dog-friendly places!
Forsthaus was a wonderful stay. You can only get to there by cable car which added to the feeling of cozy family atmosphere. The staff were wonderful, we were traveling with two children under the age of two and they were so accommodating. The food was really good and the restaurant was good too! It really was a great place today stay away from all of the tourist like stuff we would normally stay at. We are hoping to go back this summer.
Riding the cable car to get there was unique. The setting and the views were spectacular. Food was pretty good. I wish we had booked a longer stay.
The sites from the hotel are simly amazing!! It had easy access to all the trails in town, and you can walk from the hotel to the train station in about 25 minutes. You don't really need a cab unless you've got lots of luggage. We would definitely come back to this place!!! Depending on who you get at the front desk, your experience can be different. There are a few staff members who don't speek good English, or at least they don't let on that they know how if they do. Overall the staff is very friendly and courteous, it just means you have to have a little patience with them when talking... We did find the beds to be a little on the hard side, but otherwise the rooms were very neat and tidy.
