We wanted to attend a music festival in Mt. Solon. Since we weren't familiar with the region, we searched for lodging on the internet; most were well-known hotel or motel chains. The Inn at Old Virginia offered a range of choices in room features and a beautiful setting away from traffic and commercial activity. We made the reservation more than three months in advance and didn't think about it again until we arrived on a rainy Friday evening. As we drove up the driveway to the Inn we were impressed by the carefully maintained and landscaped grounds. It would be easy to go overboard with flowers and shrubbery, but the grounds are neat and in keeping with the simple elegance of this beautiful Inn. Ms. Carter greeted us, asked about our itinerary, gave us good advice about dining options in Staunton which suited our schedule and provided directions to the venue in Mt. Solon. Then we were escorted to our room. It was larger and more beautiful than shown in pictures on the website (no wide angle lens trickery). As we unpacked we enjoyed the view. Across a field we watched a dozen cattle trot along a hilltop. What a wonderful surprise and contrast in comparison to the usual hotel room view of a parking lot or interstate highway. The Saturday and Sunday breakfasts were excellent and served in a charming glass atrium at the back of the main house. The atrium is not the typical tinted glass solarium such as you might see added to a restaurant. It is a large, beautiful structure which you might find advertised in the Architectural Digest. What a pleasure to have breakfast in that room on a rainy (yes, all day) morning - a feeling of being outdoors without getting drenched! Our weekend of music and outdoor activity was a great experience, made even better when we returned to the comfort of the Inn and the opportunity to soak in our steamy whirlpool bath. I'm ready to make our reservation for next year, even before knowing the list of performers at next year's music festival.
Pros: The room and public spaces were immaculate and beautifully decorated. The food and service was equal to the best B&B experiences we've had in other countries and the US. Best of all was the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable owner and staff. We'll return

Pros: Hotel near interstate. Front desk staff friendly. Nice clean room with comfortable bed. Breakfast on par with similar 2 and 3 star hotels.
Cons: No issues
Pros: location, price
Cons: the PILLOWS are HORRIBLE!!!! They are TOO small and TOO thin...even with 5 on a king size bed.

Pros: I slept well.
Cons: Did not feel welcome. Woman who checked us in seemed annoyed.
Pros: close from the interstate
Pros: Easy access to I-81, friendly staff, modern, good breakfast
Cons: Cleanliness: long dark hair on sheet, white powder behind mattresses, soiled bed drapes, dusty box spring covers, stained toilet bowl (calcified), bad odor from AC unit, mirror smeared, wet and soiled ice bucket

Pros: Very clean. Beautiful house. Friendly staff. Breakfast was Great!
Cons: Parking is up a steep gravel hill. We arrived on a motorcycle and it was a little tricky. No problem for a car.
Pros: This place was quaint and an easy walk from there into town. The owner was very nice and breakfast was lovely. The bathroom was updated and I enjoyed having a robe provided since it was a shared bath.
Cons: The room showed 2 single beds online but was a double bed when checking in. The room was much colder than the rest of the house. The cheap wrapped soaps and plastic-wrapped plastic cups in the bathroom took away from the ambiance of the place.
Pros: Gracious owner - lovely porch for sitting. Wonderful breakfast. Beautifully decorated - it deserves an article in "Southern Living"!
Cons: Lots of stairs - two small flights just to get to the entrance. Rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors - so would be difficult for anyone with walking problems. Otherwise great place in an interesting town.

Pros: Hotel employee who greeted my son and made him feel welcome everyday.
Pros: Right smack dab in the middle of everything! We enjoyed every moment of our stay. Between the shower(that felt like soft rain) and the bed( that felt like heaven) , it was very hard to leave the room.
Cons: Yeah. We had to leave. Lol.
Cons: Staff not helpful
Pros: Very nice overall. Attractive, new, and very clean.
Pros: clean, nice room, comfortable
Cons: air handler a little loud at times
The staff told all of us that we didn't get maid service because the Do Not Disturb sign was on the door, when we knew it wasn't. We had to get our own towels from the desk - trash not emptied, no bed made, nothing. We normally choose Residence Inn because of good experiences, but this willake us reconsider in the future.
Pros: The staff was very friendly, even when not being accommodating.
Cons: We did not get the correct room. When I called the desk to tell them it was not the room that I had reserved I was told that because I hadn't booked directly through them, they could not change my room. Neither my family members or myself got maid service
Pros: The breakfast bar and being able to use the grill outside as well as the fire pit

Pros: The room was extremely clean. The breakfast was a step up from the normal waffles and fruit.
Cons: Not enough to mention besides the indoor pool was a little chilly but it was 28 degrees outside.
Pros: There really wasn't anything to praise this hotel for, other than it was a roof and had a bed.
Cons: The bed was very hard and the pillows lumpy. The shower made a horrible squealing noise the entire duration it was on, and the air/heat unit was sub-par. I expect MUCH more from HIExpress, as we always enjoy our stays. I will not recommend this hotel.

Pros: They responded to a broken AC quickly Arrived after 7 pm to find just the fan blowing. A maintenance person was called and he quickly swapped out a new AC unit. Very smart thinking. Towels were nice Close to restaurants and gas.
Pros: I liked the fridge and microwave. I loved the bedding and the pillows. The temp was ok. There was enough lighting in the bathroom. There were enough towels.
Cons: I didnt like that there wasn't a more heavy comforter. I know that you can turn down the air conditioner, but I like the room to be cool and to snuggle under the warm covers. I used the extra blanket but it wasnt the same. I woke up alot in the night.
Pros: The staff and facilities were great
Pros: The room was nice and clean.
Cons: I didn't like not knowing the pool and hot tub were under renovation. Honestly, that was one of the main reasons we chose that hotel compared to others.

Pros: Staff was very polite, had a great continental breakfast, and indoor pool was open 24hrs.

Pros: The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was adequate.
Cons: One of the reasons I booked this hotel was because it had a workout room. When I went to workout the night I arrived I noticed that the room would not open until 8 am the next morning. That was very disappointing. I am traveling and would like to be on the road by 8 - 8:30 in the morning. I like to get up early and get my workout in before leaving. That was not possible. They did offer that I could go across the street to a gym they had ties with, but that kind of defeated the purpose of staying at a hotel with a fitness room on site.
Pros: Great free breakfast selection--probably the best I've had at a standard hotel
Cons: Thin walls
