Pros: First time staying at the Ivybridge and as we left we re-booked to stay again between Xmas and new year. The hosts (Mark and Jan) were absolutely wonderful. They were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. The room (Old stables 10) was massive. So very clean and the small touches, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, shower gel etc just made it that more amazing. Would absolutely recommend The Ivybridge to anyone. Can’t wait to stay again!!!
Cons: Honestly, there was not one thing my family and I thought that they could do with changing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jan and Mark were so courteous making our stay as comfy as possibly. Accommodating our early breakfast request for the morning we were leaving. Jan’s Asian/ Chinese cooking for us was amazing! 8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, beautiful surrounding area, great little cottages. Very recommendable!
Cons: The food portions in the restaurant could have been bigger for the price, but all in all a very pleasant stay.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Saskia who checked us in.
Cons: False advertising and pictures. Poor management (Isaac). Small cottage is not a cottage- rather an apartment. Photos of rooms in the “cottage” are inaccurate. Complete lack of responding to our concerns after arriving and finding the restaurant closed, after pointing out false pictures, and after learning that no other options existed (in this very large venue where we appeared to be the only guests!) other than a larger “cottage” for an additional 200 pounds. We left, surrendering our full payment, rather than stay in such an inhospitable place - a very troubling end to our otherwise lovely stay in Wales. Would never, ever recommend staying here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed for a wedding and what a beautiful place to stay. Fabulous countryside & grounds. We booked a 2 bedroom cottage and was given a 3 bedroom one. Really well equipped cottage, with comfortable beds and fluffy towels. As a wedding venue, it is very romantic and relaxed at the same time. The food was delicious. Staff really happy & helpful.
Cons: Nothing - no complaints at all.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location and the grounds were lovely . Very peaceful. One member of staff was very helpful. Our washing machine did not work and no one was available to fix it. This lady came and took our washing and washed and dried it for me.
Cons: No restaraunt or bar open. When I asked a member of staff about this, I was told that it was a Wedding Venue, so the only time the chef was there was if they called him in because someone had ordered a meal !!! oh, and I could eat out in Newport. This absolutely ruined our stay . Our intention was to sightsee in the day and relax in the evening with a meal and a drink on the premises. This facility was not provided for us. The accommodation too had it's own problems: broken washing machine, no hairdryer although one was supplied on request. In fact too many things to address here. They will be taken up with the venue directly, but include dirty fridge, cutlery, glasses, and utensils amongst other things.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good comfortable room in a quiet location. Had a great night sleep. Lovely garden and views.
Cons: No meals available - weren't aware of this until booking had been confirmed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The team is very friendly and helpful. One can tell, they love what they do. The gardens and ponds are quite lovely. Our little Corgi just loved exploring. Of course we ALWAYS clean up after her and appreciate it when other guests do the same. The staff were very welcoming towards her.
Cons: The front grounds are under a bit of renovation at the moment, but you can tell that they will soon look just as beautiful as the surroundings. Beds are always a matter of personal preference. For my arthritic bones, the matrass was too firm.
6.7 Good
Pros: Wonderful location, very nice accommodation. Spacious, classy.
Cons: It’s a wedding venue, not a hotel. Between weddings there is an empty bar and virtually no catering. They rustled up a meal for me on the first evening, but only because I asked and they were doing me a favour. I won’t be back.. sorry, I liked the staff.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing grounds. Lovely setting. Gardens so beautiful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is superb, the breakfasts very good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious as was the bathroom and shower. The breakfast room cum bar, dance floor? was very pleasant with great views, especially if the sun shines, which it didn't! The grounds look like they are great too, but it was raining nearly all the time we were there so did not get a chance to look around outside.
Cons: The heated towel rail in the bathroom did not heat up and the hot tap was not seated correctly and tended to twist when turning on and off. The window blind was broken. Another chair would have been appreciated.

Cons: The second night I went to dining room to order breakfast a young man around 30s with glasses moustache spoke to me abruptly I felt he was rude not at all helpful as the ladies I spoke to the previous day who couldn't do enough for us so this guy does not know how to socialise with guests
5.8 Okay
Pros: The view was great. Spacious room. Comfortable bed.
Cons: In need of a refurbishment. Rooms very tired. Lovely view once you wipe the condensation off the window. Bathroom wall had damp coming through. For the money and staying for one night, it's ok. Shame because the building is fine looking and offes great views.

Pros: The bar staff and morning chef were lovely. Very friendly and helpful. Wifi was strong.
Cons: The shower head was broken. Next morning a note and offer to use another rooms shower was left outside, but it was too late.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: We couldn’t stay
Cons: Lobby was Smokey and we are allergic. The smoke filled bar was not mentioned in the ads
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing. A terrible pit of a place. Wish I could score it 0. Oh wait, I liked that booking.com were able to give me the refund that the owner promised as 4 weeks later there was no word of it and he wasn’t answering calls from customer service anymore.
Cons: Stayed here due to necessity after a late ferry crossing with two children. Had it just been adults we wouldn’t have stayed. Needless to say I got the sheets changed but didn’t sleep a wink due to the uncomfortable bed and anxiety over how we’d escape if a fire started - caused by the dodgy/inventive wiring of the bathroom light. Where to start... - stains on bed sheet. - stains (blood?) on duvet cover. - holes in plaster on the walls. - hole in ceiling in subtlety covered by a whacking big bit of cardboard cello taped over it! - stains on walls, god only knows what it was. - disgusting bathroom: peeling floor, stains (blood?) in toilet with some toilet cleaner squizzed round the inside. - impossibility of a shower even kneeling/sitting with the slopes roof. - trailing extension lead across the floor to provide electricity for an exposed light bulb clipped onto the bottom of the radiator in the bathroom as the light in there didn’t work - not making this up!! - no towels (minor thing given the rest) - 2 huge sacks of rubbish in the drawer of the divan bed!!!! I’m taking beer bottles, sanitary packaging... didn’t probe any further, that’s all I could see before the stench escaped. - breakfast: told it was served from 8-9:30, asked for a preferred time but told it wasn’t necessary to book a slot. Left room at 8:10, glad to get out, went to look for the breakfast as it was included in the £120 rate. Restaurant was locked with a padlocked bolt on the outside. Bar was also locked. Not a single member of staff around. Meet another couple who were also searching for the breakfast. Hung around for 15 minutes, trying to ring the contact mobile number to at least find someone/somewhere to leave the keys! No luck so posted them in the letter box at the unlocked back door and messaged via booking.com so I wouldn’t be stung by a key charge. Owner did call back an hour later and offered a refund, however this never materialised.

Cons: Family room top of stairs, room said 9 not number six. Towels were left outside the door, which we did nt find till we went, ie after we had bathed. Beds great. BUT, the fire escape labelling was not clear, inflamable stuff was stored on fire escape, fire doors were propped open, one was locked, the cupboard at the bottom of the stairs (by the kitchen) did nt have fire doors. Quite clearly the hotel managers need to review their fire escape proceedures. I would not have wanted to get 3 little girls out from the bedrooms of number 6 in a fire. Note the kitchen (the most likely place for fire) is located at the bottom of all the flights of stairs. This is all a fire hazard. Please ask the Hope and Anchor to review their proceedures in case of a fire. At the moment I could not recommend staying there.
7.5 Good
Pros: The quaint breakfast area was very different. Staff very attentive.
Cons: The steep narrow stairways in the hotel.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The neigghbourhood and the restaurant next door!
Cons: When we arrived early to leave our luggage there was nobody in the house even though the door was open so sent a message to number left on the door to which there was no reply. The second day on return to room, it hadn't been cleaned, the beds were not made, the dirty cups were still with cold tea from the morning, the bins hadn't been emptied. The first day one of the cups had tea stains and water in the bottom. There were no hangers for towels.

Pros: Location brilliant for ferry to Rosslare. Breakfast was very good but why did they offer boiled eggs in ramekin dishes not egg cups
Cons: Beds were uncomfortable bathrooms not very clean overall very disappointed
9.6 Excellent

Pros: Very pleasant people to meet us and at breakfast. Very helpful. Breakfast very nice.
Cons: The hotel is a little tired in places, but it has character
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The charm and character of the place was awesome. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Located close to the start of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. The owner Verna was a great guy to talk to. Also a short walk to Fishguard and the ferry terminal.
Cons: Nothing. It was just an awesome place to stay. I can't honestly say anything bad. The overall experience was great, the patrons in the bar were friendly and easy to talk to. This has nothing to do with the hotel, but I didn't care for the steep walk up the hill to start our trail hike.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Way in stank of cigarettes piercing laughter from bar evenings
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly good staff
Cons: Noisy bar patrons on Friday night until late.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I arrived very late due to the delay of my ferry. They were very friendly, didn't mind to wait for me and therefor got me to stress a whole lot less! Bed was really comfy, location was perfect when coming of the ferry, breakfast was great and everyone was super friendly! I would've loved to stay longer!
7.9 Good
Pros: All staff very friendly, cooked breakfast set me up for Ferry crossing to Ireland.
Cons: No Private Car Park.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was the perfect location for us before our onward journey the next morning. We arrived on the 9:15 ferry from Rosslare and Dai looked after us brilliantly. We had great craic playing pool and darts with the some of the locals. We arrived not knowing what to expect but left saying we would definitely go back.

Pros: Nice building with an interesting history. Restaurant staff were very accomodating
Cons: Matresses probably need to be replaced, and some of the bathroom perhaps need a little attention
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Sadly the whole place is just too too tired
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great when arriving off evening ferry from Rosslare. Receptionist was helpful and polite and brought us fresh milk for the tea. Room had everything we needed and beds comfy. Breakfast was standard Full Welsh and was good and hot.
Cons: Nothing, everything suited us. The outside decor needs something done to it, but it doesnt bother us once inside.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Plenty of choices staff very pleasant nice toast not thin bread nice coffee very nice overall very pleased
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: The beds, the pillows, the cleanliness and sadly the place has lost its way .. tired but that’s no excuse .
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good location friendly staff..breakfast was fine if a little cold. The room was clean but not very inviting...
Cons: Room very dark and tired. We had no heating in our room, the bedroom window was painted shut and a constant water flow from steep bank outside window was very annoying We had trailing wires across the wall for the tv.The radiator in the bathroom was out of order too!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great Staff, Good value if plain Evening Menu, Large Room Great Location Needs an update But Hey it was fine for me !
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A very spacious and imposing building previously catering for the Victorian era. Helpful and pleasant staff and reasonable facilities considering the price.
Cons: Some parts of the interior and exterior were tired and required updating and redecoration. Breakfast menu selection was limited.
