The hotel was clean, and the staff courteous and helpful. The food was very good also Access up the steps was difficult for some - but good exercise!
Outstanding views of the water and hillside if you have a sea view room Not really an issue but lots of stairs to get to the hotel
The view from the hotel is really amazing. The access to the hotel is difficult, there are too many ladders to get into it and also it is far from the beach/city center. To use the air conditioning, we had to pay 10EUR per day! The service at the jacuzzi area is not so good, we have asked for bruschetta and they brought it without knife and knappings. Further the bed and pillows were not confortable.
This is a great property and the view is fantastic. Breakast and evening drinks on the balcony will be treasured memories of our time there.
The views are fantastic but that's because the hotel is way up the hill from the main town. The hotel is very nice. No complaints except maybe the breakfast could have been a bit more varied. Positano is fantastic. For me the best place in the area. I see other reviewers are praising the location! For me it was not good. Apart from the 100 or so stairs you have to walk up it is probably almost a mile uphill from the main center before you reach the stairs.
Very helpful and personal service. Sitting out on the terrace relaxing with the wonderful view. We could always ask for something and receive satisfaction. The car parking lot was very helpful, so close and the attendants were courteous. Good value for the money spent. No
Spectacular views. The "Terrace Rooms" are definitely worth the extra $. Beautiful restaurant. Outstanding breakfast with the option to add eggs/omlet for small charge. Very helpful staff. Parking available close by. Comfortable spacious rooms. All around great value. 120 steps from the street to the hotel desk. Not for those who have very limited mobility. (This is true for most of Positano). Porter will meet you at the parking area to bring your luggage.
This is my second stay at the Conca d'Oro, and I will return again and again. The views are spectacular, the breakfast is ample, and the staff are helpful and friendly. Many excellent restaurants and charming shops are within easy walking distance along the winding road to the beach. The Hotel Conca d'Oro is a lovely retreat with large terraces and incredible views of Positano and the glistening bay below.
the cleanliness of my room was awesome. it has 106 stairs to it. Not very good for older people.
The venue and location and the freindly staff.
the View was absolutely fabulous room was small; many steps to get to the hotel
It's just a very nice hotel. It's pretty expensive.
Pleasant room with balcony. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Hot water not available until 7 am - had some cold showers!
Nice large rooms, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Hard to locate, even in the small city of Pompei.
The staff was most accomodating and helpful. The location of the hotel was very good, inbetween the main train station and one of the circumvesuviana stops. It was nice that they had breakfast laid out 24-7 so you could grab a snack at any time of the day. No English-language TV channels.
It is a fair deal for the price. I recommend it to those coming to visit Pompei on a tight budget. Yes, the douche was leaking water but the bathroom was very clean and nice.
Staff was fantastic. Man at desk spoke good English. Was helpful, gave ideas for touring, restaurants, etc. Let us use computer when ours was broken to check with family. Made sure parking was taken care of, gave extra food with breakfast with encouragement to "Manga!" (EAT!) It is a hostel, not the Ritz. What we expected.
Small family-run hotel. Very clean with very friendly and helpfull staff. Hotel within easy walking distance from Pompei ruins.
Friendly, helpful staff, free wireless internet, large room only one staff member spoke some english which for my husband and I, who are American, made asking questions about how to see the historic sights and getting directions difficult but not impossible. We did manage to see everything we had planned to see.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, particularly good with children. They really couldn't do any more to make us feel welcome. The rooms could be noisy at night time.
best thing about the hotel was the excellent location, walking distance from the pompei ruins
The hotel staff members were very kind and kindly answered all our questions
Location with fantastic view, excellent place for relax. Nothing!
The view, the terrace, the cocktails and dinner, the manager and hostess, the breakfast. The staff was helpful. Was nicely furnished. The matress and the pillow.
This was the second time we have stayed at the hotel and being a family-run business it has the ideal mix of friendliness, helpfulness and peace that one wishes for in this ideal location.` We found our bedroom rather noisy as it was situated below the kitchens. We asked to change the room but as the hotel was fully booked it was not possible. Whilst slightly annoying to be woken at 6am it did not deter us from enjoying our holiday.
the ambience of the hotel was magical and the staff were friendly helpful and so hospitable. the view from the bedroom was stunning. and the terrace off th ebedroom was a lovely spot to sit and relax at
I liked the location and the hotel staff. The owners were wonderful and very helpful. It was noisy.
The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were very polite and friendly. They made us feel very welcome. There was a very pleasant atmosphere in the hotel.
Beautiful spot on the Amalfi Coast, and a good choice if you want to be able to walk to town/breach/restaurants/etc.
The hotel was extremely clean and well looked after. Not luxury but very professionally run and very neat and tidy. All staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. A very good atmosphere and a real pleasure to stay in.
Great hotel with wonderful views. Staff were very helpful. Also, hotel offers free boat trips, great bonus. Bathrooms are very small and showers are too tiny.
The view from our room was fantastic, the buffet breakfast was also quite impressive there was a lot to choose from. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel did not offer a shuttle service down to beach. Bringing luggage down to the ferry was also quite difficult so we had to pay a porter to do it. This should really be included in the price of the accomodation.
Breakfast was delicious! I recommend the fresh peach juice! Staff very helpful and friendly. Easy to get to from Sita bus from Sorrento. Bathrooms very clean. Balcony/terrace was absolutely beautiful. Will probably return on my next trip. Lots of steps to the beach. Not bad going down but definitely not fun going back up after a few glasses of wine!
The hotel is close to the city centre and the historic remains of Pompei are within walking distance. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
very good hotel, situated in a strategic position to visit the city and the other tourist resorts; they gave us free parking for the Pompeii Ruins. Excellent services, confortable rooms and very friendly staff. we suggest it.
good breakfast, good parking, delicious restaurant across the street 1) centre-hotel waling distance a bit large, and through a dessertic zone, which may not be pleasant at night; 2) not 4 stars worth it based on the room quality, but rather a 3 or 3+
kindness and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms , the location near the center and not noisy, the new structure, modern and welcoming, the restaurant where we ate excellent grilled fish. also gave us free parking for the pompeii ruins. We also return because the hotel is located near the motorway and we were able to arrive to Naples and Sorrento without going crazy to find your way. Very good.
Friendly Staff Bit out of the way, good job we had the car
The personnel was very kind and helpful. The internet connection in the room was free and worked very well all the time. The breakfast was ok. The hotel was peaceful with a little garden. About 1 km to the Pompei scaves. The receptionist took us to the railway station when we left the hotel without asking it, very kind! (And I forgot tip...) Cheese and ham were in warm plate during the breakfast time and seemed nothing but fresh.
nice hotel in a good location
The comfort of the room, the excellent breakfast (with lots of varieties) No internet in the rooms...They don't have any kind of shuttle to get to the hotel. We arrived at the port and were told that we need to get up to the piazza and grab the local bus to get to the hotel. No big deal when you're without luggage, but when you're carrying heavy suitcases you really don't feel on a relaxing vacation. There is a Porter company that offers this service for 7 euros per suitcase. It's kinda ridiculous when you realize that you're off to a 4 star hotel and are going to pay over 150 euro per night. One would imagine that someone else would have thought about that before you... but no. Same for the way out, you have to carry all your luggage higher on the mountain to grab the bus back to Naples.
the veiw, the staf, every thing no
We were very dissappointed with our stay the first impression was very bad they try to put us in a standard room when we had paid for classic triple sea view. There was no sea view. The staff did not understand us lanuage barrier which was very frustrating. Rooms needed alick of paint black marks on the walls. Things we enjoyed were the pool and the room was cleaned every day. The cleaning staff were friendly the rest of the staff could take a lesson from this a smile costs nothing.
the scenery and pool area
The pool Location was a quite a bit of a steep walk from the beach, that was no problem for us although maybe for others
The restaurant had a limited buffet menu. There was difficulty getting food outside the restaurant rigid schedule.
Facilities were very good with the tennis court and pool. Also the hotel location was excellent. There seem to be no twin rooms which can be a probablem if you are travelling with a friend. However the hotel staff found us a larger room but my friend still had to sleep on a sofa bed.
The view was amazing. The restaurant should open to others not staying at hotel. Great food, would have liked to have friends join us for dinner, but they only charge to room and would not provide separate check for those not staying at hotel.
Good restaurant and helpful staff. Great view from room. The rooms and hallways are in need of updating. Hallway carpets, room furniture and bedding need to be updated.
Great place. Very friendly. Very clean. Make sure you check out the "Castello" (ca. 500m. from Luna d'Agerola). Incredible view from that place. Ask at Luna d'Agerola for directions.
Excellent food prepared by family owners. Beds were comfortable. Floor was a little dirty. Bathroom was a seperate room which was a little strange. The road to the hotel is long, winding, and narrow but drivable. Welcome to the Amalfi Coast.
the area is willdy and beautiful view. the all familly are the staff and they made efforts to give us good food and help with tips about adventure and all we aske. it,s better to take the room in the last floor because we had noice from it.
This is a great location for exploring the Amalfi area, and the food in the restaurant was very good. The hardest part was finding the hotel, as there are lots of narrow winding roads in the area - you actually go to the village of San Lazarro, from there sign posts direct you to the hotel.
It is perfect location and place, if you speak italian and have cash (no cards accepted:)) Very nice people. We were very shy at the begining, but wanted to try some local vegetables. After we asked we got some tomatos.Very good. Location is absolutely ok as you have perfect views and can access to most attractions by bus or car. Breakfast a bit poor, but I think it is about communication :) Ask and get.
The owners were very friendly; the food was unpretentious and very good quality. The room had a nice balcony. It was very disappointing, inconvenient and embarrassing, to be told at the moment of departure, that they were only able to accept cash (which we did not have, and were not able (or willing) to go and get from a bank. This could and should have been discussed on arrival, and spoiled the feel of the stay.
Nice view, quiet, friendly
I liked pretty much everything about it. It was clean, comfortable and affordable. We could have stayed at a more expensive place, but we figured we would use the room to sleep and get cleaned up. The rest of the time would be spent sightseeing. The breakfast was a typical small Italian breakfast. Just coffee and a croissant. The ones are very nice and although there was a bit of a language barrier, we had no trouble communicating. I highly recommend this place for someone looking for a clean comfortable place without all of the amenities of a big hotel. We arrived about 3.5 hours before the check in time and figured we would just leave our bags and go sightseeing. The place is accessible through a locked gate with an intercom. Unfortunately, no one was there and we had to sit at the corner cafe for a few hours. As I stood outside the gate trying to call them, I could hear their phone ringing inside. So, I knew they were not there. Eventually someone answered and let us in.
Concierge was knowledgeable about the surrounding attractions, the rooms were very spacious and comfortable, a great location right next to Pompeii's ruins
The location was great and the price reasonable.
Closeness to Pompeii..made this a good choice...walk across square to enter the site.Free parking on site. No where close to eat. You need a car. Nice restaurants in Pompeii town iteslf though around themain piazza.
It was very close to Pompeii ruins Some of the staff were arogant
Great location, nice big rooms, great balconies.
Brilliant location with spacious, clean rooms. The staff were extremely helpful, to the point when asked if there were any yoghurts for breakfast they sent someone out to buy more! All staff on reception spoke good English and were always willing to help with directions, trains, buses etc. Situated next to an entrance to the ruins, a market in the square and about 10 minutes walk into town - perfect! the only criticism was that there was no fresh fruit with the breakfast
Close proximity to Pompei.
The best thing about the hotel was its proximity to the main entrance to Pompei, Porta Marina and to the train station. For visitors who stay only for a night or two and with the precise objective of visiting the excavations and maybe going up on the vulcano it is ideal. The staff was very helpful, I needed something at 3 am and somebody was there, very curteous. They also are connected to a very nice pizzeria that delivers at the hotel a delicious pizza, much better than many we have tasted during our stay in Italy. Breakfast was decent, but no more. Air conditioning worked well. Bathroom was clean and nice enough. Our room was very noisy, as the windows overlooked the main road. I couldn't sleep very well.
Close to one of the entrances of Pompei Scavi. nothing good about the hotel itself. The electricity circuit for my room failed but an unfriendly/unhelpful/offensive staff, who has a limited English understanding, did not even offer a different room until complained in Italian. Breakfast was left uncovered at tables in the morning. I would not recommend it at all.
The hotel is very conveniently situated for visiting the Pompeii ruins and for a pleasant stroll into the new town. The room was small but clean & tidy. Very poor breakfast, not the best introduction to our stay in Italy. We were given a plateful of pre packaged items and on asking were given fresh orange juice, we were not offered refills of tea or coffee. Once served the staff then concentrated on setting up the room for their lunchtime visitors.
The breakfast was apaling. the tea was made with warm water (luke warm), hence was unable to infuse. the reception person went to the kitchen and put chocolate spread on a hard croissant. this would be an unaceptable breakfast for a 3 year old child with finiky tastes. it was worse than having absolutely nothing. the restauraunt meal was okay, but the cover charge and service charge on top seemed unreasonable for the service and the type of food on offer i.e. pizza! nothing or any noteable skill needed to prepare. There is no lift at the hotel, and there was no offer of any assistance to carry bags upstairs.
The hotel was in a good location for Porta Marina gates to the ruins. Also, the train station for circumvesuvia train line at same location, although it does not run on a Sunday! Everything was good with the hotel till we booked out, and they tried to charge us for evening meals which we did not have. There was no apology either!
This was our second stay here. The first time was 2005 and we learned to really enjoy all of your personnel, from the front desk to the waiters. They were so friendly and helpful. We looked for some of them this time (2010) but couldn't find any of them but we did learn to enjoy the people you have working for you now as well.. Hard to understand and work the a/C. Also it didn't produce much cold air.
Location Could not get broken drinks cooler repaired.
It was strategically located near the Pompei ruins and, as this was the main reason for our visit, was ideally suited to our pruposes. The rooms were a little cramped, and the noise from outside at night was very bothersome. Otherwise ok.
The air conditioner worked. Apart from that, absolutely nothing! Stale croissant, old cake, lukewarm tea, mouldy/bruised fruit for breakfast. No lift. Only one staff member was helpful and polite. Furthest hotel from train station. Directly under motorway so nonstop traffic noise. No minibar as advertised. WAY overpriced for what we got. No way is this a 3 star hotel. Restaurant prices too expensive. Worst hotel we have ever stayed at, and we usually stay in 2 star hotels!
Price was to high for the actual amenities location was perfect- the price is probably reflects this
The location was very convenient for the site of ancient Pompeii and the circumvesuviana railway. I found the Hotel was also only 40 minutes walk from the ancient site of Villa Regina with its museum at Boscoreale. This is much quicker than public transport but you will need directions or a good map of the area. Very little choice at Breakfast, although this may be typical of hotels in Italy. On one day the dining area was unusually crowded with the waiter on duty finding it difficult to cope. I gave up waiting for a coffee on this occasion. This was also the main reason for moving my rating of the staff from the 'good' to 'fair' category.
easy walking distance to ruins and train station to Napoli; secure parking. poor breakfast; traffic noise if windows not closed during night
The service was fantastic. They were very informative and helpful. Accommodation- wise, the facilities were very clean and comfortable. N/A
The hotel is right next to the Pompei excavation entrance. Very close walk. Big plus is the on-premiss free parking The hotel is located on the main street. The amount of noise that comes from the street is disturbing at the evening and night time.
Stylish decor; friendly staff; very convenient location; spacious room and bathroom; adjacent room provided for our children as we had requested Limited choice at breakfast
The staff was very knowlegable and friendly and ensured that their guests were satisfied. They provided us with a voucher for a discount at a nearby restaurant. The breakfast was the same every day. Also the hotel was located on a busy street so it was very noisy at night.
This accommodation is rooms in a big apartment composed of 3-4 rooms, a kitchen and an office. Although outside of the apartment looks very untidy due to renovation, once you are inside, you would find a different world. The inside was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was quite nice with warm hospitality of the owner. It is 10 minutes' driving distance from the Pompei historical ruins. Within walking distance (5 minutes), a big supermarket. It was not easy to find this accommodation even with a gps. We had to call the contact number and was guided by the owner's car. Parking garage is a bit difficult to get an access but it was overcomed by the kind guidance of the owner.
Everything about Villa Yiara was excellent. If I had to choose one thing, it would be the people. Hotel employeee were lovely and so helpful, and so were the other support staff ladies. Breakfast was outstanding & more than we could eat Not really. A few wall hooks or a chair in the bathroom would have been helpful to put clothes on but this was not a serious problem.
