Overview

Travelers that want to leave the city life behind to marvel at nature can lodge at Grand Canyon Village Hotels’ Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel. Between the red and tan rock of the Grand Canyon and the hotel’s premium accommodations, a stay here is an unforgettable experience.

Each of the four room types at the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel are inspired by Southwest decor. A mix of vibrant colors and earth tones create a pleasing atmosphere that’s made even more comfortable with plush bedding. All rooms include complimentary WiFi, flat-screen LCD TV with premium channels, refrigerator, hairdryer, and dual vanity. Suites add an additional sitting area, microwave, and the option for a sofa sleeper.

Travelers will want to explore the wonder of the Grand Canyon, but not before they take a dip in the on-site seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub. They can also enjoy time relaxing in the indoor 18’ spa. JJK’s Restaurant offers guests Southwest-inspired cuisine while the Wagon Wheel Saloon is a great spot to relax and watch local sports.

Just outside the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel is access to the South Rim. Hiking trails are abundant through the Grand Canyon National Park and can be enjoyed via sightseeing tours. The IMAX theater shows the Grand Canyon from a different perspective. Monument Valley Navajo Park, Lake Powell, and Bearizona Wildlife Park are nearby, and historic Route 66 shows travelers a quirkier side of the southwest.

Visitors will have no issue filling their time when they stay at the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel.

Pros (+) Well, my wife and I got stuck in the Canyon and didn’t even get out of the canyon for 26 hours. My wife was so sick from heat exhaustion she couldn’t go further. No reception in the canyon I hike out at 1:30 am and called them to let them know we couldn’t make it. He said he will save me the room and I can come at 6:am. I explained my wife is still in the canyon, I would he headed back down to get...
Cons (-) The guy at the place could have been understanding.

Pros (+) Room had nice amenities and was clean.
Cons (-) Staff was curt and not at all welcoming. Staying here felt like I was imposing on them. Also, the smoke detector right over the bed with a bright green light made it hard to sleep.

Pros (+) The room was fine. This a not a high end hotel but met our requirements for the night - clean, comfortable bed.. Not far from the Park. Friendly, courteous staff at the hotel.
Cons (-) It was behind another building so a little hard to find.

Pros (+) Great stay. The staff was helpful and polite. The room was in good shape. The breakfast buffet was tasty with good variety. We will definitely return.
Cons (-) Very smoky during a prescribed burn in the forest. This was certainly not the fault of the staff, but there surely must be a mechanism to warn of such events. Aside from direct exposure to a campfire, none of the four of us had previously been exposed to that much smoke inhalation. We are all in good health, but we all suffered from the smoke exposure; eg, watery eyes, sneezing, throat irritation....

Pros (+) just a few minutes from the Grand Canyon with plenty of adequate restaurants, convenience shops within walking distance. Staff very helpful and friendly. Indoor "spa" aka hot tub, was fun b/c it was in the middle of the lobby with greenery all around. Breakfast buffet was good for the price ($12?). Beds comfortable, linen soft, rooms clean. We booked for Easter weekend only 2 weeks before and grat...

Pros (+) Location.
Cons (-) Run down facility. Unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Even TV was not working properly. Restaurant mediocre. Parking scarce at night. No concierge was available. Expensive for what it is.
