We wanted a hotel within walkling distance from theatre and restaurants that was affordable and comfortable. This hotel ticked all the boxes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast plentyful and good. Room clean and tidy. Price excellent. Would recommend it if you want to stay in town for a quick overnight stay.
The restaurant room was too warm ...
Very attentive staff who helped to make you feel special. A perfect get away from everyday life
The atmosphere in the resteraunt / bar was excellent and the food was fantastic The location is difficult to get to, particularly at night. Don't put the postcode in a Sat Nav!!!
Friendly staff and most pleasant ambience. Excellent breakfast and evening meal. There seemed to be an extractor fan blowing outside all night.
The warmth of the hotel on a cold day I would have liked a teaspoon in the bedroom to stir my hot chocolate
Stayed in the best room which was fabulous staff extremely pleasant Vegetarian menu limited, a comment to vegetarians to ask us to cook it is reccommended
Food and the staff were excellent. The staff made you feel very welcolm
Pretty good but the food was pretentious and not quite there. The Chef needs to be told to the simple things well and let the food speak not the menu.
Breakfast was excellent however there is no need to charge a supplement for cooked breakfast We arrived at 9 pm - it was a struggle to get food at this time. Also we had requested twin beds but got a double however it was changed after about a half hour- last thing you need after a long day
The location and ambience of Holdsworth House, the Millienium garden and the peaceful setting. The staff were courteous and very helpful, but unobtrusive. No comments
very enjoyable i would visit again
Had an excellent dinner in the restaurant, lovely food and good wine choice. Also the bed was larger than in most hotels and very comfy too. Bathroom was a bit small, and had no window or extractor so got quite humid/wet.
The gardens of the hotel, beautiful sank garden, excellent food and the coffee, very poor and thin and we mentioned this to the manager
Friendly and helpful statt, who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
Very helpful staff, especially with regard to children, great food. Unimaginative room, small bathroom.
Staff were extremely helpful, polite and professional, a real credit to the hotel. Quite cold in the rooms, heating didn't appear to be working. Bathroom was quite tired in appearance.
I have stayed at Holdsworth House a couple of times now - it is a great place made more special by the staff, all of which are very friendly and helpful.
Reception staff very good. Breakfast staff bored and the whole breakfast experience was shoddy. This left a bad feeling after an otherwise very good stay.
Staff helpfull food good There was nothing I did not like at the hotel
The staff there were very friendly and helpfull.
The hotel was comfortable and clean with a gteat view just outside the front door. A gteat place to rest your head from beautiful Yorkshire sightseeing. The menu available in the bar was very limited and did not change day to day. It would have been good to have a couple of vegetarian options.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were dated but clean and functional.
The staff were very friendly and willing to joke around whilst being extremely efficient and eager to help. They went out of their way to do things for me, and did them very well. I had read online reviews from 2005 which said the hotel was grotty, etc., but either people have incredibly exacting standards or they have had refurbishment because the room looked just fine to me. 3 stars is entirely appropriate, I think.
The location was perfect, across from train station. The place was attractive and reasonably priced in the market. There was no access to the internet, and the hotel staff were uninformed about where such access could be found. Also, there was minimal information about local community services.
Staff were overall very friendly. Location next to train station ideal for people arriving late. Food in the restaurant bar was good quality, although the choice was fairly limited. Hotel is in a fairly old building so there was no double glazing in the room and there was some noise from roads and neighbouring buildings.
being left to our own devices and not being troubled un-necessarily by staff.
Have stayed there many times, it is convenient for the railway station and Halifax centre, some rooms are better and quieter than others, but the hotel is usually ok.
Size of room and bathroom as well as comfort staff very helpful
The cooked Breakfast was warm / cold
restaurant was great didn't like the shower in my room as it was set up for a wheel chair user so didn't go up very high.
no one rushes you food ha improved we were fine but others were maoning how long it took to get the eggs for their breakfast room 101 we had we arrived about 20 hundred hours window had been left opened net curtain was out of window and wet and heating was off we were tired and cold after a 6 hour journey my husband had to climb on chair to close window and he manage to turn heating on fire alarm went off when in bath but no one annouce it was false alarm got out quickly and then fire alarm went off
the room it was clean and tidy and comfortable
The bathroom The attitude of the receptionist
Lovely hotel, staff very nice. very good value for mony especially as breakfast was included in the price.
Quietand it has a very good restaurant.
The room was very clean and the beds were fantastic.
prego restaurant small room
Superb breakfast the best we have had in any Hotel. Excellent way of serving the mains at the table. Please do not ever change to buffet style where the food is kept hanging about. We are still talking about it and recommending Premier Inn to everyone! The room was clean and had everything we needed. Nothing was tatty or broken which is often the case with more expensive places. Plenty of tea and coffee provided and so easy to get more when we ran out, again this is not always the case in other hotels. To be honest we were very impressed and our stay has changed our perception about Premier Inns. The car park was large with plenty of parking spaces and there was no litter. Well done Halifax we cannot fault you. Nothing we did not like.
very helpful staff. very comfortable accomodation. Would stay at that Premier Inn again.
room was clean, bed comfortable, value for money, good location with excellent transport links for all over yorkshire. Watermill pub was lovely with a great view of the canal and good grub. It needs a refit. Shabby paintwork and carpets. Some design faults cause chipped paintwork. Grotty toilet in the dinig area. Wrong information from staff about breakfast times.
Very, freindly staff, great breakfast, very clean hotel
I liked the location of premier inn. I liked the brekfast and the staff at breakfast were very good and kind. I do not consider it a family run place to stay unless you are a traditional family with 2 adults. I am a single parent sometimes travelling with 1 child or an other adult who is a friend. I think you should cater for 2 seperate adults to sleep in the same room with a child. On this occasion I had my mum and sister with me and there was no room available for 3 adults.
The staff were friendly ans welcoming. The receptionist made sure that I was aware of the good nights sleep guarantee. The lack of directional signage from the entry to the reception. I parked at the restaurant not realising that the reception was down the hill.
Reasonably priced and convenient location from which to visit family in Halifax over the Christmas holiday.
Close to where I was working Food in the nearby Brewers Fayre was mediocre at best
Food was very good, breakfast was excellent Paint flaking off door, big gap under door, cold room, noise from road, headboard was broken or not attached to the wall well, smell of petrol in the bathroom, bed was to firm.
Convenience of location: Near the motorway and people I was visiting. Parking good. Good breakfast. No comefortable chair in the room.
The bar / restaurant Cleanliness and heat of room!
fair prices in the bar jack johnson music all the time. petty i know but it get to you in the end
Relaxing atmosphere and enjoyable pool and jacussi Poor service at breakfast opened jams at table not informed of breakfast routine
It was a delight - in a great situation in the woods which made it easy for doggy walking. I and my dog were made to feel very welcome
The rooms were ok. Hotel is very dated, my shower did not work and breakfast did not start until 7.30 meaning that as I was travelling on business and had an early start I could not eat breakfast. They did offer some toast however.
The total relaxation, the beautiful surroundings, the restauant was excellent and apart from the private hot tub not working on the first night everything was perfect.
The spa is great and the evening dining was nice. Lovely location. Room was shabby and in need of serious TLC.
The staff were excellent as was the quality of food. Unfortunately the weather was poor during our stay and the roure tot he hotel from the lodges was waterlogged.
The staff were unfailingly friendly and efficient. Also, the accommodation is very unusual -- my room was in a superbly built log cabin within the woods about two minutes walk from the main hotel building -- great facilities (free wireless Internet, swimming pool, gym) and sense of tranquility. The food is excellent too -- I ate in the bar and in the restaurant and both served reasonably meals of an unusually high standard.
Intimate, romantic, relaxing. Food was amazing as were the views and the room. No slippers in the room enquirer about them twice as they. Were on the booking. Only confirmed to me on checking out none available but got surcharge on room service escorted which made up for it. But a phone call or visit to the room with an update would have helped
Excellent view from Hotel room No soap/shampoo in bathroom Double bed was two single beds pushed together. I slept in the gap! No reception staff when we arrived or left. Breakfast 7.30 til 9 on a bank holiday! We missed it.
The weather (it was sunny) and seeing old friends Everything else
Room adequate View from window small courtyard and blank wall
very clean, good situ off M62 food was Ok not brilliant
Due to the fact that the swimming pool was closed and my collegues from work booked the same rooms at the same price but included breakfast and ours did not I rather hoped that a discount would have been offered
Convenient, comfortable and plenty of free parking unfortunately there was a smell from the drains in our bathroom
The pool and gym facilities were an added bonus and very good. We got upgraded to a larger room but unfotunately it was a smoking room - to be fair, as we were only staying one night it wasn't a big deal but it would have been nice to have been asked if we minded being in a smoking room as we would have declined the upgrade.
I liked the swimming pool and suana facilities. The staff was also very friendly and the it was a very good value for money. the furniture and decoration (particularly of the room) was not up to the normal standards of Holiday inn.
excellent accessand staff
Leisure facilities Price of breakfast!
The gym. Does not strike me as being particularly worthy of the difference in price when compared to a Premier Inn, which has more ambience in their Beefeaters/Brewers Fayre (attached) restaurants.
staff really helpful and friendly standard of room service food disappointing especially the childrens food. Also the attitude of the ? hotel gym members a bit brusque.
it was convenient for our travelling, clean tidy and friendly just that the leisure facilities were not open
