clean rooms, helpful staff ,value for money.
The hotel was in a good location for use in connection with cross-Channel ferries from Dunkirk. We had a very friendly welcome, and we enjoyed the location. Not really. though the parking did not seem ideal being on the forecourt close to the road. However the manager informed us that there is virtually no crime in the village and there was no need to worry.
Excellent hotel, food very good and service friendly.
Quiet, comfortable and really nice dining rooms. We ordered the very basic dinner menu with a bottle of house red wine and were delighted with the quality, presentation and tastes for the prices charged. We were offered WiFi internet access , free of charge - doesn't work from some rooms apparently. The owners were most helpful with everything. The air was fairly warm with the sun on the roof of the front bedrooms. We would have liked an air conditioning unit, however, an amazing thunderstorm cooled the air whilst we were at dinner. In the hot weather if you must have cool air then this is not for you.
Friendly,excellent restaurant No
Food & Service Excellent
The bed was comfortable and good seating and desk to use computer at, and free Wifi in room. Staff not showing us to our room - never a good sign. Corners of bathroom were filthy, and only one decent sized towel for two adults. Not dining room facilities on the night we stayed and only a tiny village.
Easy to find, good parking and very friendly staff who spoke very good English. The hotel was clean and the room was a good size. Bed very comfortable. Easy driving distance to all the sights in that area that we wished to see. Good value foe money. Perhaps more choice from breakfast?
very comfortable and had great atmosphere It was not open until 5pm and after driving for 7 hours we really wanted to check in but had to wait around.
Good air-conditioning. Dreadful service in restaurant, very slow and they were not even busy. Very offhand reception staff. Patrick was rude, speaking to colleagues the whole time that we were checking out. No acknowledgement, no thank you. Will never stay here again.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Ideally located for the purpose of our trip (Rugby World Cup England match in Lens). minor point only: don't like plastic tea cups provided for use in the bedroom.
simple and easy to book and staff were helpful. Meal well priced
Room was cold. Two days before room heating worked.
Location excellent, very easy to find. Bed a bit hard, as usual, and Campanile should provide more pillows (best to bring your own). Food in the restaurant very good, above average for Campaniles. Would stay again. Toilet needs replacing.
Conveniecene, location, freindly staff on arrival. updated restaraunt and dinner menu. Good security with outside ground floor metal window shutters added, broken cistern in toliet which dripped and ran continually all night, in fact hardly slept at all due to this. ( Room 2. ) We use Campanile a lot and this is the key reason for negative review. I mentioned this to reception in morning and this had been reported by another guest. Please attend to this problem as you only really notice it when trying to sleep .We had a long journey to Calais and then to North of uk the following day and very little sleep! We do use campanile and would stay again if this is put right as it is ideal location for me on business and holidays.
The room was very quiet and the food was good . I did not like the non smoking room in the restaurant it is far to small and not as nice as the smoking side.
Friendly staff who made us feel welcome & did thier best to talk English to us. Very convenient place to stay when using the A26 south from Calais. Our visit was spoilt by the noise from motorbikes that were racing back & forth near the hotel into the early hours of the next day, but this might not happen every night.
Room was clean and adequate for an overnight stop with tea & coffee making facility. Much better than the premier classe next door. It is also convenient to have a restaurant on site. The hotel is not that easy to find mainly because it is not well signposted. Those signs that are in place are too small or only partially visible in the bushes once you have passed the entrance road. The check in desk is the bar in the restaurant but again is not clearly marked.
Clean, good choice at breakfast. No hairdryer in room
The hotel is very convenient and very comfortable The food is expensive
Luxury, food. This was our 4th visit.
Helpfulness of some of the staff Quality of food
choice of restaurants, good food, nice rooms, friendly staff, convenience for channel a touch on the pricey side
We have previously stayed at this hotel, on and off since 1986 and each time it is better No fresh flowers and a complimentary bottle of mineral water and a small fruit bowl would be welcomed
The location is particularly good for exploring the surrounding area including the WW1 Battlefields and also a convenient stopover for the Channel ports and Eurotunnel. The staff were friendly and efficient and our room and bathroom were beautifully warm! There really wasn't anything I didn't like.
All of it No hot water at 0700 in the morning!!
Beautiful settings. Charming rooms and grounds. Great restaurant and No irons available in room though staff ironed my clothes instead (no charge)
We have stayed many times because of its excellent location when travelling through France. The Brasserie restaurant is good, the bar is pleasant to relax in. Prices are not cheap but for the pleasure of staying in a lovely building, it is worth it. Staff are well trained and very pleasant.
Close to motorway - a gentile hotel which serves good food and takes dogs
The hotel was basic but adequate for a 1 night stay. The location was poor. There were no facilities in or around the hotel for dining or shopping.
Ideal for a quick stop off, with clean rooms and easy to find. Shame there were no pubs or resturants in walking distants from hotel.
Staff were helpful, when we arrived late after getting lost. I put my card into the automatic machine and it got swallowed up. (I'd put it in the wrong slot!) the helpful receptionist used pliers to get it out!! Not very easy to find
Room internal doors would benefit from aligment
it was convenient for an over night stay. Pillows hard. Towels too small. Breakfast overpriced and croussants, yoghurts and rolls sparse when we breakfasted at 9.15. There was a spill mark down one wall in our room.
Price of breakfast Remark only: Experienced some difficulties in using the Automatic Booking System, so would recommend that guests book in before 21.00 hrs. if possible.
automatic reception for late arrival worked well
The building is quite new but the fixtures and fittings in the bathrooms are showing extreme signs of wear and tear. On the outskirts of town, easy to find, but no bars or eating places within walking distance. I would only stay one night as it is the most basic of basic accommodation, and for that, it is satisfactory. Good car park. Early morning noise from the works opposite, small size towels but asked for more and they were supplied. Should be called a motel.
The staff were very helpful & the food very good for the price. I arrived late & could not get in but 1 of the staff let me in & opened up reception for me - very helpful - even tho' my French is only moderate. I found it difficult to find - I use Satnav & because the address is newish it would be better if you advertised the main road it is on - Avenue? Charles de Gaulle
Hotel easy to find, good value for money Not particularly welcoming staff, 3 pillows between 2 people, no bath towels in the room.
Overnight stop only. Quick walk around the town and then to a restaurant You obviously have a problem with hard water. All the tap and shower nozzles need 'de-coking' with a wash in vinegar or some other acid. Only other issue for us was that the headroom on one side of the room was very low because of the eaves.
Ideally situated to where we wanted to stay. Free car park.
comfortable room Too close to noisy night club so didn't get much sleep
Receptionists very helpful. Breakfast good. Location excellent, not in noisy town centre but easy walking distance.
Friendly welcome and good restaurant.
The room was modern, spacious and comfortable. The hotel was well situated and in easy walking distance of the town. It was very quiet at night.
The location for St Omer was good We asked for a refurbished room, which was really basic. First room offered was a double rather than a twin, so had to be moved. Was nothing like the pictures on the internet.
Courtesy of hotel and restaurant staff. Willingness to help.
Close to city center Very expensive meals compared to rest of city.
Restaurant. Location. Parking.
Excellent room, service, breakfast. Theme rooms were great fun. Travelled with parents and other family member they had great rooms and enjoyable stay. No bad points.
The tranquillity and view were superb would have to be very lucky to find another as good. At the time we stayed it lacked atmosphere as it was very very quiet, think only one other couple were staying.
Unique decor and history of hotel, located in a spectacular French small town.
Superb! We had a 7 hour drive from Switzerland to UK and wanted to stay somewhere en route near Calais. There are not many hotels near Calais like this one. Off the beaten track, but only 40 minutes drive to the ports in the morning. Fantastic room (Moulin Rouge suite) and just a generally high quality feel to the whole place. Only continental breakfast available and we thought the bread/croissants/jam already on our table was it, however more followed including hot crepes, fruit, cheese, ham etc. Nothing to complain about, but 2 observations: 1) There is only a small car park which has quite a tight entrance. Max 4 cars which might be a problem in high season. However, it does feel very secure as you are parked literally at the front door and overlooked by reception. At busier times, there is parking at the rear of the hotel. 2) The hotel did not offer evening meals when we stayed (end Sept). Initially we thought this a poor situation, but the staff were able to provide a list of recommended local restaurants many of which were only a short walk away. Our trip to the Kasteelhof Restaurant proved memorable as it was very rustic and full of local charm and surprisingly inexpensive.
Plenty of space, large bedroom with comfortable bed. Lovely view from breakfast room & balcony. Smell of air freshener / incense(?) when first arrived in room.
Peaceful. Lovely swimming pool. Although no restaurant was easy walking distance of several good restaurants. Interesting history from 1st world war. The staff were exceptionally helpful at all times but when we had an accident in our car they transported us to the ferry for our return journey home. Over and above the call of duty. With many thanks to Justine and all the lovely staff on duty day and night.
Layout of cottage was excellent, especially as we had dogs. No staff spoke any English. No restaurant. Unable to work tv system correctly - only 4 channels available and all were French. Roof had leaked onto bed so bedclothes were wet and stained - it appeared that the room had not been checked prior to occupation (other than to turn on some heating) and had not been used for some time. Glass door on single toilet, which was right next to kitchen, was not appropriate. Access to main hotel from the cottage was difficult due to lack of lighting and no directions so had to access by walking back round from main road. Information in room suggested that breakfast was available in the room but this was not the case (having called a french speaking friend to translate for us).
We liked the location, the amazing views from the room and the building's character.
The hotel was in a good location, the room was really nice with a huge bathroom and lots of space. The breakfast is very overpriced at 12.50 euros per person and the room had an overpowering smell of perfumed cleaner so we had to open all the windows to clear the smell a bit.
Absolutely lovely Hotel. Fantastic setting on top of a hill, with amazing views. Peaceful, comfortable rooms, very imaginatively decorated. Very friendly staff and generally lovely ambiance
Convenient location, very clean hotel and friendly staff
Convienent location, secure parking, value for money Did not serve dinner
We only atayed 1 night but very comfortable
Excellent room and friendly staff. Convenient for travel back to UK. Good secure car park.
Near town centre, friendly staff. Secure parking at no extra cost.
Pleasant hotel in centre of the small town of Bailleul. Rooms comfortable and quiet.
we liked the tidiness of the room and the sanitaire. The personal was very friendly. It's a calm hotel. the bed was a bit narrow
Charming hotel and room close to an interesting town center.
The atmosphere was very welcoming. The owners were helpful and the waitresses were friendly and efficient. The setting is beautiful. No
The restaurant was closed - we had booked the hotel because of the restaurant write-up. We were told the bar was open but returned to the hotel at 9.00 pm after having to go into St Omer for dinner only to find the bar was also closed.
Our evening meal was superb, served in spacious dining room with views of the surrounding countryside. The staff were very helpful No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Loud television in the bar.
The new dining room is excellent. The room is light, airy, with a good view over the distant St. Omer. A choice of 4 menus offer a balanced variety of dishes. The food is well prepared, presented and of good quality offering excellent value for money. The staff are attentive, friendly and courteous. One thing we found disconcerting is that dogs are allowed into the dining room, not just small dogs either! And, no, it wasn't the French, Dutch, Belgians or Germans that brought them in, it was the British!. What is wrong with us? I love horses ....... The room offerd only a shower and not a bath.
Superb, a real surprise, very welcoming, great accommodation in chalet type buildings(easy acess to outside for my dog ),spacious rooms and comfortable beds.Good resturant with good menus 22euros and more.Good access and near Calais for our final night ! Will recommend .
Easy to find; good space in cabins - upstairs rooms particularly good; excellent food; staff happy to accommodate special diets; reasonable rates no
The accommodation is excellent, nice bathroom etc. The restaurant is superb, having a wide range of menus to suit all tastes together with a good range of wine. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money to have a really good meal though gourmet options are available. Like most Logis establishments, there are no facilities in the room to make a hot drink. There is no problem getting something from the staff in normal hours but I like a coffeeearly morning before I shower and get ready to meet people!
the new conservatory restaurant is superb and giving a far nicer lounge area noise of other guests in the same chalet block
We reiieved a very warm welcome from all the staff; in reception, the Le Vasco restaurant and at breakfast in the morning
noise from ventilation system in "Charme" rooms. Motor runs all night
Staff were not only polite but extremely friendly and pleasant. The Chateau and its restaurants were a delight No tea/coffee making facilities in room
The quality of the staff, the bedroom and the restaurant Nothing
The attached restaurant was exceptional. None
Hotel and grounds good Breakfast for which there was an additional charge of 12 euros per person was not up to the standard of other Best Western Hotels breakasts. Some of the plates /dishes were empty or had very little in them.
Efficient, well-organised hotel. None really.
Very clean and comfortable for an overnight stay and convenient to the Channel tunnel and ports. Cost of buffet breakfast @ 12 euros per person seemed excessive
Clean, well run. Rather corporate feel. Lacking a personal touch.
excellent stopover near the A26 no - everything was fine
Chosen for location only as I was unaware of surroundings and it was close to rail and bus links which worked well. I was disappointed that this was a room only price and breakfast was extra. Location did mean that it was often noisy with trains going thro the station until late.
Staff friendly, professional. Restaurant excellent. Restaurant does not open sunday evening
The meal in the restuarant was very good high french cuisine. Portions were ample if you are not a large eater, and fantastic presentation. Drinks were uk restuarant prices. Quiet position near the edge of town One nights stay for a single person including breakfast, a meal with a beer to start and half a bottle of wine and water 109 euro's
Clean, comfortable, friendly staff. The breakfast is very good and great location. We recomendad it.
Very Clean, ac worked, friendly helpful staff, walking distance to shops. secure parking
Clean, modern & friendly Monday night - restaurant was closed. Had to go into town.
Very convenient and practical for overnight stay. Not far from Calais.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Modern, clean and good restaurant Bit difficult to find
Spacious very clean room, quiet location. Comfortable bed, very nice en suite, good continental breakfast. Very helpful receptionist. Very large carpark, nice tidy grounds. Hotel set back away from the road.
No facilities to make drinks in room, neither was there anywhere during our stay we could get a drink other than the bar which opened the following morning! No staff on duty, restaurant was closed and we where just given a key card and left to fend for ourselves when asked about food and drink facilities where advised to go to St Omer 18km away!!
