people and the view no complaints
The owner did a nice job of taking care of our needs. The bed is very firm and uncomfortable
It was cosy and practical, because It was not in the city center, but really near going by foot. The staff were really helpful.
beautiful seaside location, the city is easily reachable in 15 minutes by foot, free parking directly in front of the house, very clean rooms, very friendly and family atmosphere, great Irish breakfast. Bathroom is very small, the sink was loose
the service was excellent and the family running the place very kind. Breakfast (included in the price) was perfetct.
It is a nice place nearby theGalway Bay with a wonderful view, and the service is quite good. Wow, it is extremly clean!
The excellent service and breakfast.
Pedro and his wife are great hosts ,friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful and clean, room warm and hot shower. Well situated on the Galway bay.
Excellent stay here. We had a triple room and it was spacious. the owner was very helpful. great stay.
Friendly and helpful hosts. Fantastic breakfast and comfortable rooms. Easy walking distance to Galway city centre.
convenience, cleanliness and efficiency. perfect location, great parking. Stayed here several times and cannot find any fault to report
calm / kindness
The hotel is wonderfully located very close to the center of Galway and all activities. while being a 1-10 min walk from anything you could want, its also quiet. The staff was very nice, helpful and friendly. The beds were fairly uncomfortable, the amenities are not terrible new, but are current enough to satisfy and certainly high quality in galway.
Nothing Room, Bathroom facilities, lack of heating
Staff very friendly, professional and prompt in accommodating requests. Do Not Disturb sign and. Make Up Room sign practically identical. If one grabs Do Not Disturb sign at night one can easily grab wrong sign (as I did) and be awakened early by the maid thinking I wanted my room cleaned. Very aggravating!!
Location Room was very hot (it was the middle of Jan!!)
The location is great, right in the city center and only 15 minute walk to the beach and it is a very clean and comfortable. Stayed here be fore and would stay here again the next time I stay in Galway.
This was a lovely hotel in a great location. The staff was great & rooms were very clean & comfortable. We loved that you could walk to everything-restaurants & shops in one direction & just over the bridge the Salthill Promenade for a beautiful walk. We arrived on the weekend & it's kind of a party town on Fri & Sat. We loved it but when return I think we'll come Sunday thru Thursday.
The location was excellent. The bed was to small.
The hotel is well located, walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The staff is very kind and the rooms are clean and affordable. no complaints
When we checked in we did not get the room we had requested. The check in agent was not willing to change our room. We had to get the manager to help us. He made the changes that were needed and we were very satisfied. After that the manager checked with us each day to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. At the end of our 3 day stay the manager even got our car out of the garage. The garage that the hotel uses is just awful. very tight corners, and hard for out of town guests to maneuver. They should find another garage to use.
location room was very noisy, no breakfast included, had to pay for carpark, not good value for money
friendlyness of staff some of the cushions in the room were not very clean, very old fashioned furniture, carpet.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was clean, comfortable and quiet, which I enjoyed. Complimentary continental breakfast. Parking was a bit difficult at times and the entrance lobby was dark, which was a bit discouraging. General decor very old fashioned, and bathroom especially outdated, but everything functioned perfectly, and suited my needs very adequately. No tea/coffee facilities in the room which I missed.
this hotel is small and compact. room was bright and clean. staff were very plesant and helpful. got a voucher for a continetal breakfast as there was no breakfast included in our price selection was limited for the continetal breakfast, could have had more fruits and yogurts. lack of tea making facilities was a disadvantage
It was homely with nice comfortable rooms and very good value for money now that people are watching their money. Well done!! I'd like an electric kettle in my room even though there was coffee on the house available down stairs.
The service was friendly and personal, local information was readily available and given in an informal though informative way.
The size of the room was good, however it had a very musty smell. It was very expensive.
Could have had a bigger bathroom with a bath. It was dear for what was given.
wifi for my laptop decent speed. And cup of tea that was just right. Friendly staff who clearly explained policies
Staff and owners very helpful and friendly. Very competitive prices. Would be very happy to stay there again.
Warm friendly athmosphere Water quality
A delightful place with a lovely country house atmosphere. The staff are courteous, friendly without being in any way intrusive, and service is excellent. Pride in the family-run enterprise is very evident from the owner, Henry Hodgson. Wonderful food: fresh, local, beautifully prepared and presented. The setting is idyllic. -
Perfect hospitality and 100% service commitment, that's what we found in Currarevagh! We stayed for three days in this lovely, in the best sense old fashioned country house and it was a great pleasure. We had a spacious room which was not only calm, it was quiet! Two times we enjoyed the delicious four course dinner which is celebrated in a very nice and also old fashioned dining room. After dinner every guest is invited to have coffee by the fireside with typical irish turf fire, lovely! Thank you very much indeed June for these three relaxing days!
we just love the peace beauty & friendship of the place. Also the spoiling, with a smile & the fact that it is an Irish family house.
Currarevagh House is very welcoming, is in a very beautiful location and one feels completely relaxed in luxurious surroundings. Add to this excellent food. This is an ideal place for a special occasion but it may be more appealing to an older age group. No negatives
A place of tranquility in a busy world. Some may find it too quiet(e.g. no TVs in bedrooms) but the peace and the "dark"(no artificial lights from streets or other properties) make for a rather special stay. The owners personal service is "just right",the breakfasts and dinners absolutely spot on and the service of afternoon tea for residents just is the "icing on the cake". Everything is locally sourced or home baked(esp. the bread). The private location on the waterside is idyllic. Though specially attractive as a hotel for fishermen, this is a gem for all who appreciate good quality and service
just touring and then relaxing in a most convivial atmosphere
Very welcoming friendly staff. Quirky. Like staying at friends for the weekend.
The location was nice allowing guests to have a quiet & relaxing weekend away. The facilitues were very basic - no electric showers, tv or phone in bedrooms & also no keys to lock bedroom doors when guests were out. There was no bar in hotel, very limited choice at breakfast & cooked breakfast was cold.
excellent location, delicious meal, and above all hospitality n/a
Piano Music I did not like the room I stayed in you charge 4* prices for very adequate accommodation. Our Room was very ordinary. I had the worse Chowder ever it was full of cheap fish with too many veg.
staff were very helpfull, and the food was excellent
food excellent, staff excellent tap water in the room was bad taste, had to use bottled water
I loved the late breakfast - served until 11.00 a.m., and the food in the restaurant is great. I had stayed at this hotel before and I was disappointed this time with the leisure centre. Some of the facilities were not working during my stay and, generally, the leisure centre needs a facelift.
very friendly staff, lovely food and atmosphere there was a slight smell of fust in the Gallery restaurant, other than that it was very nice
Very comfortable room, friendly and efficient staff, excellent dinner, comfortable bar and lounge areas, splendid sea view, calm and relaxed atmosphere. No complaints.
We had a fantastic time and were looked after like royalty Not a long enough stay
The smiles on the faces of the staff, not one sour face to be seen.
the room, scenery of the coastline and the staff you don't provide rooms for smokers and it was difficult to obtain wash cloths
Very relaxing friendly atmosphere.
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Great breakfast! Great location and there is a great pub with music right down the road.
Very friendly kitchen staff. Private bathroom. Computer with free Internet for guests. Noisy
Staff was very friendly...breakfast was wonderful! None
Exactly what I wanted! Clean, good breakfast, fast wifi, quiet part of town. Perfect! Nothing at all - an excellent two nights at a friendy place
Its was just what was needed! And the breakfast was amazing! By far superior to many expensive hotels! None
Excellent staff, very friendly.
Excellent service georgeous rooms and very near city centre perfect
spacious and warm room, delicious breakfast, very reasonable price. nothing
Friendly, clean, comfortable, affordable. An excellent place. Extra facilities very good including free WiFi and printing facilities which many top hotels do not yet have. None that I can think of!
Room was bright, well laid out, good tv and channel selection, tea and coffee making facilities were appreciated in the cold weather! Breakfast was at 8am, which is quite late. Would of liked the option of having it earlier as I had to be at a course by 8am
Close to the bus and railway terminals. The owner is nice and kind. Meals are good and my room was clean and comfortable.
We stayed College Crest for one night. It was well located, near Eyre Square. The woman who ran the place was very friendly and helpful. It was a nice, basic hotel.
I thought the staff, imparticular the manager was professional, helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. There was nothing i could complain about.
Just 5 minutes walk to Eyre square. Free parking. Great breakfast. Weekday rates are good value for money. Street noise. Heating in the room could not be turned off.
Lovely B&B and extremely helpful and Friendly Owners. Couldn't have asked for more. Would definately stay here again. Location excellent.
The hotel is beautifull and the room is very clean and comfortable, the bed and pillows are perfect!! The first dinner was excellent, the second was not so...but it happens! The internet is free, which is a good difference for us. The location is good, not at city center, but close enough to go walking. Our stay was very pleasant. I recommend the hotel. No complains.
Very comfortable and great location The lifts were being worked on and it disrupted the reception area greatly.
it was a very relaxing hotel
Friendly staff, great facilities, well furnished rooms in a great location. No bar food available before 3pm in the bar. Had to go elsewhere to get bar food.
The attentiveness of the staff, all requests were catered for without issue
location, although only mins walk from the hustle and bustle of the city it is so relaxing,as if set on a country estate. upon arrival at the desk one member of staff just looked me up and down, then walked away as i was about to say hello while making eye contact,at this point a very helpfull guy with glasses welcomed us ,had a bit of a chat and booked us in,while sharing a joke with my son which made up for his senior member of staff.this is only a small matter in what was a perfect stay
None At all times when walking down the corridors between the rooms there were black bags full of unwashed bedding. Even late at night. One evening we went to our room at 6 in the evening and it hadn't been cleaned. I saw a wall mains socket that had been pulled out of the wall in the corridor exposing mains electricity. Waitress staff late in coming with the coffee orders in the morning. Mains power cut when we were there not allowing a cooked breakfast in the morning. Why no back- up generator. Our room overlooked a housing estate and a small courtyard within the hotel complex that had astro-turf laid that was torn and shabby.
Close proximity to city center. The lobby was clean and well-lighted. Reservation was for a king-bed, "bay view" room. The first room we were given had a view of the lobby, and was a handicap access room. We asked for a different room, and were given one with all of the windows painted over and no air-conditioning (the room details said it was air-conditioned). It was very hot in the room, and the window would only open about 6 inches. Not what I expect from Radisson...
My stay was relaxing and was close to city centre
I liked the sense of luxury in a well-appointed hotel near city centre. Also enjoyed the piano bar !
the service and the luxury of the hotel
i liked my stay at galway bay hotel because it was nice an relaxing an the food was good
excellent service by staff very helpful no
It was comfortable the breakfast was the best. Too few staff working and the telephone was much more important than people standing waiting to be delt with. Poorly fitted windows the double glazed units to not seal and need a good service. (In our room at least)
The staff are a delight, nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. Too many screaming kids running up & down the corridors. Impossible to have an afternoon siesta without being disturbed. We were here exactly the same time last year & never experienced the problem. Maybe, it depends on where your room is situated.
THe best thing about this hotel is it's location. On the prom in Salthill and within walking distance of the pubs and restaurants on the main strip. The breakfast at the Galway Bay is one of the best in Ireland. Having stayed in this hotel before we were disappointed with the size of our room (small) and with the noise of the plant machinery (from the pool I think) which went on for most of the night and started early in the morning. Also the pool is small at 15 metres and the price should reflect this.
The ample free parking was great. No car juggling to get in or out, which one often finds in Europe. Very nice view and an easy drive to Barna and Spiddal for good food without the crowds. The room was large and comfortable and the WiFi worked well. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant was over-priced for the breakfast buffet compared to other places we stayed on this trip. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed by large groups on tour busses, which made for slow service. Basically, the restaurant was understaffed and over-priced. The Coco Café a short walk up the street had an excellent Irish breakfast and good service for about 1/2 of the cost of the hotel.
The service was very courteous and friendly. Location of hotel is fantastic...practically on strand!
the relaxed atmosphere too close to the amusement rides, our room was facing them,
Nice location and staff are very freindly Leisure/pool facilities are poor and not as presented on the web site. The hotel is a little dated, especially the bathrooms and shower water pressure is very bad.
The comfort of the room, especially the bed and pillows.
everything except the weather!
beautiful setting, comfortable, good food, friendly staff poor service in restaurant and bar, our order of drinks was forgotten about, we waited 20 minutes and had to go order again. Also one of our lunch orders was forgotten and only remmebered when everyone else finished, pity because the food was very nice.
room was too small
I didnt get to enjoy the hotel as I felt unwell when I got there I was suffering from an upset tummy and stayed in the room the whole time. The room service was excellent as my partner used this facility and was very inpressed with the food pity we didnt get to try the resturant but we will go back
The staff were very friendly and helpful. the food was excellent. the athmosphere was very relaxing.
Restaurant was great, the staff were great, It's all good!
Friendly staff and good food Having to go outside to get to get to my room.
Our room was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpfull and the food was also excellent. The weather was bad other than that i was very happy
We made a booking for 2 doubles. One room was of a considerable better standard, size and location than the other, in fact we had to request a room change in view of its proximity to car park and delivery entrance. The room was dark and dismal and in no way was the room worth the high rate charged
we enjoyed the leisure facilities the room wasnt cleaned properly ie. cobwebs and dust. also windows very dirty. disused fountain full of water a danger to children
Excellent helpful staff and a general feeling of a busy but very well run hotel. Very good breakfast and dinner was excellent and very good value. Leisure centre and pool were all of a very high standard and well maintained. Location was good in that it was just outside city centre but it was within easy walking distance or simple bus journey and had good parking facilities and easy to get to and from by car. Nice grounds. A liitle bit noisy in the room at times.
This was without doubt the best B & B i have stayed in, and i would recommend it to anyone. The staff and information about the area provided by them was outstanding
The rooms were clean and the stuff were really nice
The nice comfortable bedroom and large bathroom were great. I think it was a little over priced at 198euro for two nights
the staff were brillient and very accomadating of any needs, they were very friendly and worm and the hotel was comfortable and in an excellent location.
Friendly service, efficient in rearranging rooms, clear directions on the phone and later on in the house. Free good-quality map available. Good price for very good quality. We had difficulties finding the street, as there seem to be not so many signs with street names in Ireland in general. This was easily solved after a phone call.
I felt like home, all atmosphere was so cosy, the staff man was very friendly. I liked every single thing there.
better than a 4*hotel, amberhill is a very comfortable guesthouse, our room was modern and very clean and had all the things you would need: fridge/safe/tea,coffee tray/tv/dvd/bath/shower/. the staff were very helpfull and friendly. breakfast was very good and included in the price. i will return here again in the future nothing it was all very good
Was only a ten minute drive from the city center. The staff was nice enough. The bed wasn't comfortable, with hardish springs. The sheets were dirty on the sides and there was a big stain on the silky coverlet on the bed. We also saw hair in the bathtub drain upon arrival, which didn't help the cleanliness factor. There were loads of young people on our floor who were loud, partying and smoking. (The smoke alarm also went off in the middle of the night due to the smoke levels.) The walls are paper thin, so if you get rowdy neighbors forget getting a good nights sleep. Management didn't seem to bother stopping them only explaining "Anyone can book a room here." Maybe we dropped in on the wrong night, but it was terrible. I felt like I had small children at a frat house. Oh, and the breakfast isn't included at this Bed and Breakfast, so plan on paying 8 euros for your greasy eggs.
Patrick was so very helpful in everything we asked of him, and he took the time to go that extra mile to make our stay comfortable and wonderful! There was nothing not to like. It was wonderful!
Given my failure to appreciate the type of hotel the Amber Hill is, I actually enjoyed my stay there. The room was comfortable, well furnished, large enough and immaculately clean. The food at breakfast time was plentiful and well cooked and presented. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I was surprised & pleased at the availability of wireless broadband & even internet access for leisure use It might have been made clearer that the hotel was a fair distance from the city centre- though a taxi was readily available and not too expensive (about 8 Euros). Given how well they do breakfast, and the distance from town, perhaps meals in the evening (not actually a complaint, more a suggestion).
The room was lovely, breakfast was great, the staff were lovely and helpful. After staying in a number of bed and breakfasts this one was exceptional. Cant fault it.
Good family room, nice sized bedrooms. Great staff, made to feel very welcome. Very small bathroom, an extractor fan would have helped clear the condensation. Cooked breakfast was basic.
The B&B was very comfortable. Excellent price for location as it is only 15 minutes walk from city centre. Breakfast next morning was also very nice. Bathroom a little on the small side but still very clean.
Very clean, perfect location, excellent value for money through the activehotels website. No bad points really, bnb was really perfect, breakfast 'ok' good selection though. Owner liked to inform us of our great bargain that we received through the internet - that, I didnt' like! And in his own subtle way let us know on 2 occasions over breakfast not to forget to pay, the day we were leaving. That was the only bad point and a small price to pay for such a lovely place to stay
Clean, good location with Ocean views ib dinning area.
Host, Peter & staff were delightful folks who went the extra mile. Breakfasts were simple but well done. Location on Galway Bay is wonderful. None
Peter was fantastic. The location was great. Beds were pretty uncomfortable.
The ocean view from the main guest room was excelent. We awoke to watch the sunrise each morning. It was close enough to the city center to walk in, but far enough away to have peace and quiet and enjoy Galway!
Very good value, great breakfast. Private baths, clean, well-appointed. In a quiet area of town, but close enough to city center to be able to walk.
This is a charming little place, but very basic. The breakfast was nice. This place was not set up to handle winter weather. I would definitely recommend staying here in the summer only
Great location, welcoming daytime host, rooms clean and comfortable. Evening host unhelpful - I.e didn't offer to help with luggage up to attic room, no option of vegetarian breakfast, television volume unreasonably low.
Central to most facilities Water was not to hot in the showers
Staff were courteous and helpful making the whole stay very enjoyable.
Enjoyed the comfort of the room and the excellent leisure centre
Loved the food and the entertainment. Staff very friendly. The floorboards in the corridor upstairs creaked terribly. Lights in the room too dim for reading.
No room service?
Very nice and clean hotel No
bedrooms in blocks away from the main reception area / bar / leisure centre. would note that if you were staying with a young family and wished to make good use of the leisure centre you should request that you stay in block D
I liked the staff, they were very friendly. The location is good. It would be even better if the hotel provided shuttle buses into Eyre square every half hour or so. The hotel bedroom was sizzling hot and we couldn't lower the heat. The layout of the bedrooms is really confusing. I got lost twice trying to find my room because of lifts taking you to different 3rd floors with different room number sequences.
We stayed in this Hotel during race week. The price of the hotel was very expensive, breakfast was poor, room very warm, even with window open.
Welcome, Atmosphere, comfort, the breakfast is excellent Sound proofing between rooms - interesting noises! A little pricey Teething problems (new hotel) in my room with wireless connectivity and cable Tv. Could have reduced price for Solo Traveller.
room very nice and comfortable and good attention to detail. Hand written card and treats was a very nice touch. reception area did look a bit office like and intimidating.
decor and ambience no guidance on setting up ihome radios they were npt plugged into mains in both rooms we stayed in and there was no guidance sheet on clearing messages alarm and setting up voicemail
I was very impressed by the staff generally, and would find it hard to pick out any one individual. Everything was handled with competence and I thought the pricing in the bar and bar dining area was very competitive, as was the quality of the food. All said and done a very enjoyable stay. In one very short word- No.
3pm room receipt!! wedding at 1pm..... changing in the car pk or a loo at bit much
i liked that we were given a free upgrade. i loved that i found a much cheaper price through your website.
The comfort of the hotel and the friendly nature of all the staff
The staff were very friendly and approachable. Lovely atmosphere in the hotel. Fabalous rooms.
Very nice room, spacious and comfortable. None
The breakfast was the best I've had at any hotel ever, the choice ,the service and the food was excellent. The furniture and decor in the bar were not to my liking, the reception area was too office like rather than oppulent and the sound of the doors closing while other guests were coming and going was a bit annoying.
it was very comfortable and the staff so kind! no, nothing at all!
Execellent service, very comfortable.
Sorry cozy bed and breakfast. Wonderful service and very comfortable accommodations. We got the full Irish breakfast in the morning too - it was delicious too. The parking out front is convenient as well.
Had a lovely time here and would defiantly stay again. Very nice chap running the place very accommodating
Good value for money, comfortable room, nice variety at breakfast, very pleasant staff
The room was very comfortable and breakfast was tasty. However, what stood out was the length the proprietors went to for us. One of our party accidentally left her passport behind. When we called, they found it for us, and discussed the best place for it to be sent on to. They called the place we had reservations for three nights ahead, confirmed that they would hold it for us, and mailed it to that hotel! Thank you! The coffee, but that was true all over Ireland.
Nice clean and basic room, friendly and helpful owner.Good location for either Galway city or Salthill.Good value for money!
People were very helpful and willing to work with our schedule. Our room was facking to a busy street and was a bit noisy all night.
EXcellent service and friendliness
Bed was extremely comfy, room was very clean as well as bathroom and lots of channels on tv was slightly too expensive
Nothing 1. Double room booked but on arrival twin rooms available only 2. Dining room not clean. 3. Breakfast deep fried (no alternative. 4. Prices a rip off.
Staff is very friendly, enough parking space, close the the city The bathroom is really small
We stayed in the attic room and the view was amazing. The room is quite spacious and clean. The breakfast is tasty and the White House has a perfect location.
Unable to state as not allocated room in chosen booked hotel Not what I would call a true Galway expierence ...felt very let down with whole "irish welcome " thing
I would like to say that I considered it very homely and the staff were friendly and courteous and I would recommend it to anybody and my husband and I werey very pleased with our stay no cant think of any complaints
Gorgeous view, clean, good breakfast, good location, on-site parking, and host was accommodating. We were overwhelmed with information at check in, our bathroom was a bit cramped, and some of the staff came off as a bit pushy.
Staff was nice. Dirty, holes in walls and doors, ceiling cracking, uncomfortable beds and pillows. We ran out if toilet paper and had to go find some. No staff was on the premises. Was the most expensive hotel we stayed in and the worst. Don't stay here! Not worth the money.
Friendly, helpful staff, clean, good food, within easy walking distance of city very pleasant stay.
The hostel is great value for money and in a nice location of great scenery. It is far from the city for walking distance.
Good value for money, location close to city centre, very friendly and helpful staff
Good location between Salthill and Galway City. Room accommodations somewhat tacky, chairs stained, hairdryer did not work, bathroom dirty. Sofa in lounge was torn and worn.
the white house is within walking distance of the city center and salthill...,,food was excellant,,,,with a beautiful breakfast room,,,,, biggest complaint was the en suite,,,,,which was just too small....
beautiful, stylish, brand new b&b in the heart of galway city center. we loved it. Being so central some rooms might be noisy because of the pubs on the street. Separate hot and cold water.
Lovely small hotel , i really like the decor and how tastefully some of the original features were restored, room was lovely, bed and bed linen luxurious and very comfortable, staff very friendly. i thought the room was a bit small. and some of the services like iron & ironing board & hair dryer werent in room as described, also no wardrobe for storing clothes,
Loved the location. It´s the perfect experience for a weekend break in Galway.
Dominic the owner was simply fantastic went out of his way to help me a number of times The noise outside - I stayed on a Friday night and the hotel overlooks a busy night life scene - was very noisy but I imagine this would be fine on a weekday night
We were not allowed to stay because we arrived at 1045-11pm...they had no one to open the door and forced us to book elsewhere
