Pros: The facility and location and the staff was very friendly and helpful
Pros: -clean -very spacious -has kitchen -bathroom has heated floors -restaurant on site serves great food, perfect post hike meals
Cons: - Lighting is dim -bit of drive from bessegen hike (45min)
Pros: Very nice location. Lovely chalet style houses. Cows walking just in front of your door. Beautiful area for hiking.
Cons: We would have liked to stay longer, but we needed to leave. Will come back.
Pros: Check-in/out was really easy and the staff was super friendly! The cabin was very nice, impeccably clean and very well conserved (it looked brand new!). The kitchen was very well equipped and we cooked some meals there. There was a big table and 6 chairs, perfected fitted for our group. It had a dishwasher, which was very nice! The living room was spacious and cozy, with a fireplace. The bathroom had heated floor, which was plus :) Our cabin had one room with a double bed and another room with 2 bunk beds. We rented bed linens and towels for our stay and this was a super easy process. They were able to provide a baby cot for your younger son, which was of great help. The views from the cabin were amazing, to the lake Lemonsjo and the woods! The area was very quiet and peaceful. Our hostess really wanted us to have good time during our stay, so she gave us many tips to explore the surroundings! There is a hiking trail that starts very close to the cabin that leads to a peak called "Trollhoe" (1370mt), with excellent views. The location is great as we are very close to 4 nationals parks: Jotunheimen, Breheimen, Reinheimen, and Rondane National Parks. So it's the perfect headquarters to explore this area. We enjoyed our stay very much and we plan to come back!
Pros: The cabin was very cozy. The view was amazing. Honestly it was a blast. The location was very convenient. It was close to several hiking trails with varying views and difficulties.
Cons: Nothing really. Just the curtains were very thin that the rooms never really got dark enough for a good night’s sleep.
Pros: Location, log cabin, clean and good
Cons: Only 1 mirror in cabin!
Pros: The hike right from the hotel was excellent!
Pros: Beautiful location and charming cabin. Very friendly and helpful host.
Set in a late 1800s wooden building, this countryside hotel is in Hindseter, 60 km from Otta. The hotel restaurant serves Nordic cuisine with local produce. Hindsæter has a wellness area, plus views of the Jothunheimen Mountains and Sjoa River. The rooms have a private bathroom with a shower. Binoculars can be borrowed from reception to try wildlife-spotting from the bedroom window. Other facilities include a lounge with fireplace, a sun terrace and lounge with views of the valley. WiFi is free in the lobby and in the lounge. Hiking trails and cross-country ski trails start from Hindsæter, and Lemonsjø Ski Centre is within 20 minutes’ drive. Guests can explore Jotunheimen National Park, just 5 km away.
Pros: The hotel is an extremely pleasant place to stay in the Bessegen area. The staff is very nice and helpful, the food is excellent, the atmosphere is rustic and pleasant.
Pros: Very cozy and clean everything was perfect from start to finish. Great food and service.
Pros: The place is very close to some of the top hikes in the area which makes it very convenient.
Cons: We were charged a ridiculous amount for dinner, which was ok but nothing amazing. The rooms are very small, bathroom is so small you can barely move. For this price, you should be getting a bit more than just a basic room. Rooms look outdated.
Pros: Incredible food and inspired chef
Pros: Absolutely lovely place. The stamp of quality is in the details. The room was good, not too spacious but not small either. The bathroom was rather small, but recently renovated. The dinner is optional, but well recommended. Breakfast is included, and very worthwhile. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is great for walks and hikes, but not for much else.
Cons: The hotel shows signs of wear and tear around the edges, but nothing too obvious. The price of dinner was rather high.
Pros: Nice place to be for a couple of nights to venture out into the beautiful countryside. The hotel has it's own charme and the food was very nice.
Pros: Excellent breakfast and dinner. Nice location with good hikes nearby
Pros: This is a beautiful place. A most gorgeous setting, very remote and stunning views. The main communal areas are well decorated, very comfortable and the staff are very pleasant. The puddings are a dessert lovers heaven!!! We slept really well and got to our next destination (the Besseggen Ridge) really early the next day which was our plan. You can make yourself a lunch for your days out, from the breakfast items and you get charged for that per person. This was nice as we were doing a very long walk the next day.
Cons: The rooms are small and feel a bit more institutional than the rest of the lodge but they are warm and very comfortable. There is nowhere else to eat in the locality, so book yourself in for dinner. Another review alerted us to this and it was a good tip. That said we didn't know what was for dinner, or how much it cost and it comes out as set menu for the appetiser, starter and main course. There is a huge choice for pudding. If you don't eat certain things (my partner is vegetarian) then being offered reindeer cooked four ways is not an attractive option. When we asked for an alternative he was given a vegetarian plate which was very much welcomed and we thank the hosts for their quick solution. Our conclusion is that being veggie isn't really an option out in the wilds of Norway, so beware before you travel. It would just be nice to know what is for dinner and the cost in advance.
Pros: Very comfortable beds, nice decor, beautiful lounge and dining room, there was even a plush reindeer on our bed! Amazing view from the lounge and the rooms. The dinner was excellent, quite pricey for our pockets, but it was Michelin-starred style and quality. There is a spa open in the afternoon but we couldn't use it because we arrived just before dinner. The staff was always ready to answer our questions and gave us good suggestions for hikes.
Cons: The bathroom was very small, it was a bit difficult to enter in the shower. Our room was beautiful but small.
Pros: Lots of character to this little hotel, manages to balance the classic atmosphere with modern amenities. Great place for a foodie, the dinners here are gourmet standard and made with fresh, local produce. They have over 60 beers, all local Norwegian microbrews with a variety of styles and flavor profiles. We arrived late on our first night, but they were really nice and still willing to serve us the main for dinner. This seems popular even with the locals, so book the morning of if you want dinner in the evening.

Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. Guests may use a train station pick-up service for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Large hotel in gorgeous surroundings. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We arrived in the afternoon, and managed to do a great hike to Peer Gynt hytta, thanks to recommendations. Nice to relax in the salon in the evening with great views and a lot of mountain-themed books to read and discuss. The bedroom was large, and oldfashioned - kinda fun with the retro 50's style. Lovely, ample Norwegian breakfast in the morning.
Pros: Great family location with a very relaxed atmosphere, a personal touch to it that really add some rare charm.
Pros: The place is beautiful and the view of the mt. Staff are very accommodating. Food taste good .
Pros: Lovely artwork in the main area. Very friendly atmosphere. Nice furniture. Great views and walking, even in wet weather.
Cons: Would have liked real butter instead of bremyk. Prefer porcelain egg cups to plastic! En suite bathroom (room 68) - a slight 'drain smell' possibly from the shower.
Pros: The clean ir, the walk in the mountains, the staff and THE FOOD
Pros: The breakfast is excellent. Location is perfect for sikiing or walking.
Pros: Dinner and breakfast was great. View is wonderful. Staff was friendly.
Cons: A little bit expensive.

Cons: There's nothing to dislike everything was amazing.
Pros: Peace and nature.
Pros: Nice place by the beautiful river. Fishing, canoeing. Tasty breakfast. Clean rooms and kitchen.
Pros: The location is amazing as well as the fact that it i an old gård refurbished and adopted to a new function. The rooms are big and with all the essentials, as well as the bathrooms. The breakfast was ok. Very helpful staff! We should return for some rafting or horse riding nearby!
Cons: A little bit more options for breakfast., especially for vegetarians could be added.
Pros: The staffs were friendly, big rooms with comfy beds. The breakfast was homely next to a fireplace.
Cons: curtains in the bathroom were stinky.
Pros: The breakfasts were excellent, and the dinner was very good, homemade food. The location is off the main roads so is very quiet. The old main building has a lovely community room with a huge old fireplace in one corner.
Cons: The price was expensive for a hostel.
Pros: Amazing breakfast and extremely helpful staff- 10/10
Pros: Location was just simply amazing, very close to Flam and still quite and just surrounded by nature at it's best
Cons: it was basic stay as explained so nothing to complain but considering price range and size, room which we booked was not big enough to accommodate 6 persons with all of their luggage...
Pros: Location of Sjoa Gjestehus was absolutely stunning! Room was nice and clean with good bathroom. We had to make up our own beds with the sheets provided - not happy about this. Breakfast was plentiful but very basic.
Cons: We arrived at 7.20pm and were hoping to get dinner, but dinner service stopped at 7.30pm so that was never going to happen! Very early to stop serving dinner! Worst of all was the internet - it seemed to go down at 21.00hr and didn't come back until about 9.00hr next morning - there were a lot of young people there with groups so perhaps (?) they didn't want young people on internet all night when they are going to be doing dangerous activities next day. Went to bed early and hungry!

Pros: The house was big enough for 8 persons and comfortable First floor was new but the basement was old The hotel is like an small resort with small playground for the kids and the house host was helpful
Cons: There was no soaps in the bathrooms
Pros: Beautiful sitting area and views. Although we had yo leave before breakfast the owner insisted that we would get breakfast and make the arrangements to get the staff to prepare breakfast earlier than usual.
Cons: Room was very small with only 2 bunk beds. Room is not equipped with anything.
Pros: The attention of the front desk was amazing, the breakfast very nice, and all around very calm like a farm place. But the Front desk during my arriving and later helping me with a lost and found credit card was amazing, with me. Thanks I founded !!!!
Cons: Nothing everything fantastic !!!!!
Cons: Staff resturant very rude , room not clean , we ask cola with ice they said charge will applical for ice as well
Pros: Located in the beautiful Rondane region, this apartment is just incredible. It has everything we needed and more. We would come again any time.
Pros: Very clean everywhere. The rooms are simple but contain all you need and the beds are extremely comfy. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice large lounge area with a fireplace, mountain views and bar. The food is traditional Norwegian and good. We had a vegan and a vegetarian in our company and the kitchen made excellent special meals for them, Thai style.

Pros: Beautiful location at top of mountain. Good value for the area.
Cons: Bed was a bit soft. Shower small and basic.
Pros: Beautiful location in the mountains, clean rooms, good breakfast
Pros: Nice place with clean air. Friendly stuff. Amazing view to the mountins.
Pros: Great breakfast
Cons: Some of the entertainment stuff are broken.
Pros: The views, the room (big and confortable) the ammenities for children, WiFi.
Cons: A bit of mess with restaurant prices. It's really worth yo have food at the restaurant buffet, bit they were not 100% clear with prices.
Pros: Great location and views, staff is friendly. Rooms are basic, but large and good beds. Nice lounge/ bar area and terrace. 15min drive to Rondane park.
Cons: There’s a lot of potential in the facility and staff is friendly. But it’s not so well organized/ bit chaotic. The arrangements as tour bus stop over brings too many guests at once and overload breakfast and dinner. The buffets for breakfast and dinner are poor quality food with too less re-fill.
Pros: Beautiful views over the mountains. Good place as a base for hikes. Even if everything was clean and functional we got the slightly surrealistic feeling as if the hotel has not changed since the seventies - even the personnel fitted that picture somehow. The song Hotel California came to mind :-) All in all a interesting change from staying at modern hotel chains. Price was cheap compared to Norwegian standard so we'll worth a stay. Dinner was served as a buffet and was reasonably good with choices of both meet and fish. Not that much aimed particularly for vegetarians though. Breakfast quite ok as well. WiFi worked well.
Cons: Sheep's in the hotel yard meant that you had to watch where you step. Quite an uphill drive from Otta as it is about 1000m above sea level. Soundproofing in the rooms could be better, but I do not think you get very noisy guests I'm that kind of a place.
Pros: The area was stunning!
Cons: We felt ‘forced’ to pay way too much for a simple dinner buffet, the price was never mentioned. The staff in the restaurant were not well organized.
Pros: We (2 adults 1 child) stayed one night and it was all that we expected. Nice staff, good ambient, great modern room, fantastic lounges with view! There's a playground and sheep to entertain kids, billard and table tennis for the big ones - and lots of nature for everyone.
Cons: Only downside is that there's only one quite expensive dinner buffet (350NOK), but no idea what Otta has to offer (we had our own food)

Cons: The buildings are from the 1960 and are generally in need of some refurbishments.
Pros: Very nice location, swimming pool and sauna,
Cons: The room and the hotel requires renovation; it didn't smell nice and we rather felt as being in low class hotel; we only stayed one night on the way to another destination
Pros: Good and kind stuff. Good location at rondane natural park
Cons: Very small room. Small and poor shower
Pros: Ok breakfast but not many optipns for vegan diet. Staff had difficulties understanding our requests for certain type of foods we asked for to be taken out from out meals. It came out wrong every time.
Cons: More optipns for dinner and alternative food for allergy needs.
Pros: the location in the middle of the national park is splendid
Cons: Rooms need refurbishment. Shower is very small. Portions of dinner way too little, especially related too the excessive prices.

Pros: Location. Food was quite good and rooms comfortable.

Pros: We needed a car Hotel near Geiranger. Rooms are dated with quirky wall art. Common areas better than rooms. Nice swimming pool although we didn’t use it. Excellent breakfast. Lovely evening walk to Stave church a bonus.
Cons: Our room was a long maze-like walk from front desk. Unusually hot for Norway, so the room was a bit uncomfortable.
Pros: Helpful staff, friendly atmosphere, good wifi, free access to coffee
Cons: Bathroom small and shower wets toilet
Pros: Hotel is located in a beautiful village. The hotel is a bit outdated but the rooms are up to date, super clean and very comfortable. The front desk individual was the only person in our entire trip who said "Thanks for staying with us, have a wonderful trip". This small gesture put a BIG smile on our faces. I would also recommend the local restaurant Andre Etasje for dinner. It was fantastic! We wold be back for sure.
Cons: We enjoyed it. I cant think of anything at this time. Keep up the good work.

Pros: The manager is very friendly and helpful. She waited for us at 11:30pm, and answered all of our questions. It's a warm place.
Pros: Nice location for hikes. staff helped out about missing guest kitchen dishes
Cons: the guest kitchen of the hostel was not well equipped (just one working stove plate) and not looked after for several days...
Cons: Staff were not helpful specially the front desk staffs. They even were not ready to show us the rooms. The mountain cottage s were away from the main campus bit they didn't even not able to tell us correctly where the cottage s are exactly. We had the coordinates which were not very help ful. At the mountains cottage we had to wait for the attendant for half an hour. The rooms were small and toilet was not functioning properly. I will not recommend the mountain hits at least for fellow travelers. Make sure that you atleast get a booking at the main campus which seems to be better.
Pros: Calm and with a very good location close to Rapham, Per Gynt, Rondvassbu.
Cons: It is time to make the rooms a bit more up to date
