Pros: Our suite with a Mountain View was incredible- I can’t more highly recommend it! Dinner at the restaurant was incredible. I can’t wait to stay here again.
Pros: This hotel is wonderful. Food is spectacular, bar stays open fairly late and the location to the lagoon and surrounding glaciers/national parks can't be beat. Room was nice and clean, and the shower products were amazing. Staff was wonderful as well!
Pros: room interiors and space, location near to the glacier
Cons: the sauna was repaired during our stay, we were informed few days before arrival. Would be nice to have some compensation for this.
Pros: Great location on the east coast! Our room was very clean and comfortable. We had big windows, so were able to see the northern lights from our room. Dinner and breakfast were excellent!
Pros: The view of the room was great, and the dinner in the dining room was delicious.
Pros: This is an incredible hotel. Comfortable, amazing views, sleek design, beautiful food. We tried the 5 course tasting menu and were blown away. Breakfast selection includes everything from make-your-own waffles to fresh fruit and cooked breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
Pros: The rooms were spacious, with a cool vibe. The coffee and tea available in the lobby when we arrived was a welcoming sight. The bathroom was the biggest bathroom we have had our entire trip through Iceland.
Cons: We never could get the WiFi to work in our room and breakfast wasn’t included and too expensive for our taste.
Pros: Hotel is in a great location west of the Glacier Lagoon. Perfect place to break up our drive back from East Fjords. Hotel had just been open a year. Not crowded while we were there and 2 for 1 happy hour drinks! Modern decoration, clean and comfortable.
Pros: Modern and well designed hotel, rooms well appointed and comfortable beds. On site restaurant high quality dinner menu, breakfast buffet fine.
Cons: The food quality have room to be approved
Cons: for 2-3hrs there was no hot water, in both of the rooms we booked.... couldnt shower
Pros: Loved everything about this hotel. We spent 2 nights here. Great location to visit the glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón, the diamond beach and Skaftafell national park. Big comfortable room with a great view of grass field, sheep and the ocean. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff who provided northern lights call. Dinner was great too. In common area (hallway, common bathrooms), motion detected lights turned on automatically when guests walked by at night.
With a stay at Hotel Skaftafell in Skaftafell, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Vatnajökull National Park and Skafkatell National Park. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Bathroom sink drain stopper is stuck and water quite slowly drain away.
Pros: Very good experience, There is major glacier a short walk behind the property. The restaurant is also very good as well us the breakfast.
Cons: No issues to report.
Pros: The staff was outstanding. The location was excellent, you could see the glacier from our window.
Cons: The breakfast was not up to par with other places we have stayed. The room was slightly less than other places we have stayed.
Pros: Hotel Skaftafell is located within a 15-minute walk of a sprawling view of a glacier, which we were let in on upon check-in, and a two-minute walk of the Local Guide of Vatnajökull; Hotel Skaftafell served a humble, but delicious breakfast in the morning.
Cons: Our bathroom had a rather "old" interior.
Pros: Nice hotel in a great spot if your visiting Skaftefell, just a short drive from activity station. Very clean, welcoming staff, offered a night wake-up call for Northern lights whilst we were staying. Breakfast offered the usual array if goodies from scrambled eggs, bacon & beans to cereals, porridge, yoghurt, toast etc . I would happily stay again.
Cons: Not so keen on a shower curtain rather than a glass cubicle door...but it worked fine.
Pros: Good location, good view of mountains and easy access to the Glacier.
Pros: The staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and functional. The hotel is located at the foot of a glacier (only a 15 min walk). The food and service at the restaurant were great.
Cons: Nothing to complain about!
Pros: The best thing about this hotel is their location - at the base of a glacier. The lady that checked our group in was very friendly and funny. We ate dinner at the hotel because there really aren't many other options in the area! The menu choices were limited but the food was really good (expensive but good). Breakfast was included in the room price and provided a good bit of variety. The hotel keeps a "Northern Lights Wake Up Call List" and will call your room if the lights are spotted during the night.
Cons: There are very few places to chose from in this area. While the hotel was clean, it is very basic. The most expensive and most basic place we stayed during our trip.
Pros: Good location, about 7 mins to booking center for hiking
Pros: What a lovely little hotel. They upgraded us to a room with a view of the glacier out the back and we walked in awe right up to it on the private road. The bar has a happy hour from 4 - 6 which makes having a beer actually a viable option. Dinner is expensive but that is the way of Iceland. We went over the road to the amazing petrol station restaurant buffet and had our best meal of the whole trip for a much smaller price. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and plenty of it so we filled our tummies and kept us going most of the day.
Cons: Everything was fab
Pros: Very kind and friendly staff! Good location on the A1 Ring Road. Reacable from Reykjavik with one day driving. Exelent location for visiting the nearby glacier lake by sunrise.
Pros: Fabulous location. Food was very good if expensive.
Pros: Amazing location with fabulous walk from the hotel to a glacier and lake; within easy reach by car of National Park and Jokulsarlon. Staff very helpful.
Pros: This is a great hotel, its clean and the staff are helpful. It aslo has a great complimentry breakfast. I would definately stay there again.
Cons: Dinner prices take advantage of lack of alternatives
Pros: Location, location, location!
Cons: Very small room. Extremely small shower. Very expensive compared to the value of what you get.
Pros: Amazing location
Cons: Very expensive for the quality of rooms/service. Smoke alarms went off early in the morning - we asked about this and
Pros: just location is good
Cons: Stinging smell full of room and not worth of this room rate of EUR220. If there is more option surrounding, I will not book this hotel.
Cons: Rooms look like hostel while price is like 5star no service no tables for breakfast don't go
With a stay at Adventure Hotel Hof in Fagurholsmyri, you'll be 12.4 mi (20 km) from Skafkatell National Park and 17.6 mi (28.3 km) from Fjallsárlón. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Beautiful setting. Comfortable rooms and clean.
Pros: Good breakfast included and a great location made our travel around the Ring Road a joy. Good location for Glazier watching and Black Diamond Beach. Checked in after hours and they had everything waiting for me which made it even more special.
Cons: Having a group of six they had a smaller lounge area than we would've preferred but we managed anyway. Rooms are very European and just big enough to sleep in which is why we needed a lounge area. If it were just me and my wife I would have no issue with the offerings.
Cons: It’s not a good value for a twin room!
Pros: excellent location, just a stone's throw from the famous church with peat roof. I booked the restaurant last minute and found a place for me. elegant restaurant with possibility to drink wine.
Cons: no kitchen available. if you do not find a place in the restaurant, the nearest is several kilometers away
Pros: Good location for watching stars at night. Staff in the restaurant is helpful and nice, and the breakfast is great. Interior design of the room is stylish.
Cons: There's a bad smell on the corridor outside the shared toilet on second floor. Room is a bit small for 3 people, not enough space for luggages.
Pros: Great dinner and nice design of the room. Location is good
Cons: Very noisy rooms, too busy for breakfast, no tables available and the breakfast was not very good. Rooms small- large luggage does not fit. Smelly bathrooms.
Pros: Nice rooms
Cons: Only 2 water closets in our building.
Pros: Great location for someone visiting Skafatell National Park. Breakfast was ok.
Cons: This was the most expensive hotel in our trip and I see no reason for that. Rooms were too small (this is a problem when there is nothing to do outside after 6-6.30 pm and you don’t even have a chair in your bedroom)
Pros: The view is amazing.
Cons: There's not enough chairs in breakfast to seat the guest. By the time we manage to get a seat, some of the breakfast menu is already done.
Pros: Great location close to the lagoon, nice breakfast, nice cozy room
Cons: Expensive given you share a bathroom but fine for one night
Pros: The hotel had a good location to visit Skaftafell national park. Also, it is a good stop on the way towards Höfn. We had a very good meal in the evening and also the breakfast was complete and good. Nothing negative there! We had a good room, it was basic but we were lucky with the location of the room from what we heard. It is okay/good for one night.
Cons: The room had some power sockets that only worked when you turned on the biggest, brightest light in the room. This was also the only socket to charge your phone or use a night light.. so using the night light was only possible if the big light was on. Unfortunately, this was a known problem and there was nothing the staff could do. There also was no extension cord, so we just had to charge our phones somewhere else. The room is small, bed is good. We shared a bathroom, which could be cleaner. There are not many bathrooms for the amount of rooms. For a hotel, for this price, it is not enough what you get. Either the price has to go down and/or mention it as a hostel. Personnel was very friendly, even though they were obviously inexperienced. They can make a lot more of the property!
