Pros: All was very well. Derrick making a fire even as late a time as we arrive.
Pros: Excellent facilities and friendly, efficient service by the hostess.
Cons: Nothing negative to report.
Pros: The location of the place, the cottage has vintage furniture and it makes you feel away from your comfort zone it adds adventure, the fire is the best, the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, the brass area is beautiful, Dstv has all channels , the property is private
Pros: We loved the old characterful house and the friendly , very knowledgable owners. The hostess provided us with a super breakfast of fruit, muesli and yoghurt as well as freshly baked scones. Fireplace in the lounge.
Cons: The road into and through Hogsback is an a dreadful state so one really needs a sturdy vehicle with high clearance. At the cottage there were no problems. We would have liked to have had more time to chat to the owners.
Pros: It was a charming property on a beautiful property. It had a lake and it's own meander. Beautiful flowers grew everywhere and there were little scenes set in the scenery in unexpected places. Like a hobbit hole with an elf, a shoe with flowers, benches. It was really lovely
Cons: It was all good
Pros: It is an old historic house, beautiful furnished that supports it, a very nice atmosphere. It is private, the garden is just beautiful and the host is very kind
Cons: Nothing specific
Pros: Perfect location, very cute cottage with lots of space and homely amenities
Pros: Breakfast was great! Your honey is really great! beautiful furniture. fire made it really nice during the misty evening.private garden was a lovely touch. would liked to have stayed longer. the cottage had a homely feel
Cons: shower could have a curtain/glass. wifi router needs replacing
Pros: Derek and Norma were adorable and our not so little cottage was a dream of antiques and real cottage atmosphere surrounded by big blue hydrangea.
Pros: It was a quaint cottage. on a very quiet side road. Kids were able to ride their bikes and play in the garden. Norma and Derek were lovely hosts! Derek came in and lit a fire for us.
Cons: The only negative was that the 2 rooms on either side of the cottage had no direct access to the inside of the cottage or bathrooms, except by going outside via the stoep and then inside to go to the bathroom. Luckily it wasn't too cold or it could have been an issue. I don't recall seeing that mentioned on the website?
Pros: Very friendly and helpful hosts, interesting village tour to get some idea about life there.
Pros: Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. Amazing location.
Pros: Made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived - a bbq meal ready for us at 11pm! Lovely conversation under the stars, followed by breakfast and a guided hike to Hogsback the next day. We even received a memorable ride back to the property on the back of Lieve’s ute. Accommodation was basic but decent and clean, perfect for restful sleep. This is an authentic special place that is well integrated with the surrounding community and doing good work. Thank you to Lieve and everyone we met at Elundini, our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.
Cons: It is a choice whether to stay at Elundini or Hogsback. The experience at Elundini was brilliant and could not be better, however my advice would be to leave plenty of time to explore Hogsback as well - at least 2-3 nights needed to relax and do this area justice, not the single night we spent. Travellers should cut down time from the Garden Route in order to detour up here for a true South African experience.
Pros: The scenery...
Cons: Travelling to the place especially at night. Showers a bad. No drainage. One showers on someone elses dirty water...
Pros: Everything I will take the whole day to pin point.
Pros: The warmth with which we were received!
Pros: We had the option to eat a homemade meal with the hosts (which was delicious). There were also several options for breakfast. The rondavel was very cosy, the surroundings were beautiful. The host took us to the nearby village to meet the villagers and we spent the evening in the local pub, talking with the villagers. It was an enriching experience!
Pros: It’s a super authentic place to see how the real africa looks like. I really enjoyed my 4 days there!! The owners are very lovely people and the property is just awesome!! The village has about 200 people, and is 100% save!
Pros: The place is fantastic, located in a remote village with breathtaking sceneries. The owners are very friendly. It's a bit far from Hogsback but the experience is great.
Pros: The best of community based tourism in a glorious off the beaten track place. One really felt it was part of the village not an awkward add-on. Experience real South Africa hosted by great people.

Cons: It wasn't clean
Pros: The room was beautiful! And warm and comfortable.
Cons: The toilet flush handle tended to jam/ flop
Pros: Rooms were heated in advance and contained fireplaces and heaters. Warm welcome!
Cons: Roads in Hogsback are atrocious. Don’t come here if your car is precious.
Pros: The fire place and gardens
Pros: location was great very close to all the facilities.
Cons: the co ordinates given on the site was very confusing. it took us to a dirt road that was unable to drive on with normal vehicle. we had to detour to fort Beaufort then Alice which caused delayed of 3 hours.
Pros: The accommodation is situated in an expansive, beautiful garden. This lends tranquility to the experience. The room unit was perfect; sunny lounge, comfortable, expansive double bed and a more than adequate bathroom. The breakfast is highly recommended. The hosts are gracious and accomodating.
Cons: No complaints!
Pros: Peaceful with beautiful huge gardens to spend walking around and admiring. Rustic accommodation with fireplace which we had roaring away for a cosy evening as weather was miserable and cold, for February. Neil was the perfect host.

Pros: Units were well situated.
Cons: Pathways leading from the houses could be upgraded.
Pros: I loved the rooms, very big and spacious. The electric blankets were a cherry on top
Cons: The room with the double banker beds didn't have extra blankets for the kids neither was there any electric blankets in the room.
Pros: I liked the environment at the venue. [hotel] I was with my family up for a good weekend outing [Winter Christmas]. It would have been better if it snowed but hope to catch it one day. The staff was very helpful. I need to visit the place again wore so buying your jackets which i did not have planned to od io. Are they available on online ordering.
Pros: Very comfortable unit, everything u need, good location
Cons: We were given a unit next to the very busy road even though there were nice units away from the road available. Quite a bit of rubbish in garden next to our unit. Gas fireplace did not work.
Pros: Nice facilities and setting in Hogsback.
Cons: Breakfast was average.
Cons: Whilst the unit was very nice it was bitterly cold
Pros: The rooms are very nice, great value for our money. Very nice and quiet environment. Everything that one needs is there. I will definitely come back, i enjoyed my stay.
Cons: The rooms were clean but had a bit of dust. At least one staff member should have a came to show us how things work like lighting the fire place.
Pros: The environment is perfect for meditation , therapy and exercise ,since most activities are done on foot and am all about wellness.
Cons: The property was not properly cleaned, inspections are vital ,also the single beds joined together, the leg for the other was broken and was uncomfortable. Our cottage was located near the river, the heater lacks too much heat. We survived though and spent less time in the lounge for watching TV. Also the lock in my room needed to be fixed ,the door didn't close properly ,had to use headboard to closing it Either than that, we had perfect stay in
Pros: Loved the airy open spaces. Very comfortable beds. Well designed layout.
Cons: No suitable dishes for the microwave (too large or no lids) No frying pan. The lounge suite needs an upgrade. checkout was a nightmare (credit card reader did not work, no signal for cell EFT)
Pros: The place was just awesome, everything was just perfect I would go back anytime. Thank you for all much appreciated :-)
Welcome to Granny Mouse House Hogsback’s premier owner run Guesthouse tucked away high up in the Amathole Mountains of the Eastern Cape.
Pros: The friendly dogs there.
Pros: Beautiful garden with cottages scattered at random, each with its own character. Great welcome and super helpful hostess! After the heat of the summer we loved the cool mountains and the stunning views of forests and meadows.
Pros: The assumption was that this is somehow related to to Granny Mouse Midlands which it was not. Not the same standard
Pros: Lovely gardens, very private!
Cons: No snow!
Pros: Our hostess( Ingred) and staff(Elizabeth) both were extremely helpful and friendly. They let us feel very welcome and made our stay very enjoyable. And such well mannered and friendly dogs tyey have!We will definitely recommend Granny Mouse House. Thanks Ingred. Freddie and Nicky Page.
Cons: It didn't snow!e
Pros: We did not realy know what to expect as we had booked a rondavel, but on our arrival we were greeted by Ingred, and what a wonderful lady. Ingred we salute you for what you have done for us. You have realy gone out of your way to make things as comfortable as possible for my wife and myself. Once again thank you for 4 lovely days we spent there. The garden is just to beautiful and well kept for words. Will visit again.
Pros: The cottage was homely and comfortable with personal touches. We had all we needed, including heating for the cold spell we had. It is located in a beautiful area among the mountains and forests, but sufficiently close to the town centre to be convenient. When the town ran out of water, the owner already had a tank of stored water to ensure that our stay would continue to be comfortable..
Pros: Lovely garden, very nice to walk. Ingrid knows her Gardening.
Cons: The garden and her two dogs
Pros: Hogsback is a superb location for getting away from it all yet there are adequate options for wining and dining nearby and several attractions and walking opportunities. The host's garden is a wonder to behold.
Cons: Not the fault of the property but the local dirt roads are in need of dressing and grading. Wifi was a bit unreliable.
Pros: Ingrid goes the extra mile for her guests. We were so impressed with the service we received and the cottage catered for our every need. Would definitely recommend Granny Mouse House.

They have heaters that warms the room up very quickly. The restaurant is super convenient after a tiring hike and you just want to munch on something! EVEYTHING is walking distance in Hogsback. Great value for money
Cons: The Wi-Fi is a bit unstable. You will have WiFi if you're close to the router, otherwise it's very patchy.
Pros: A homely country hotel. Not a flashy place to stay over, but old school in the best possible way. The bedroom walls and ceilings are covered with wood panels and there's a fire place in the dining room. They have a new chef who cooks a mean lamb shank.
Cons: I like the place, so no real points of criticism. Would love to stay over when it snows.
Pros: Comfort and friendly staff
Cons: Noise levels of other guests
Pros: Good food at a very reasonable price. Well maintained facilities and very friendly staff i would book in again
Cons: It is one of the easist locations to find in hogs back and is on the main road
Pros: friendly service and lunch was top draw
Pros: Beautiful setting and excellent food
Pros: Location was good. Breakfast not eaten
Cons: Facilities and room old and dated. Looked out onto some dubious buildings behind the hotel. Absolutely no hot water despite running tap for 20 minutes. No apology at all from staff.
Pros: Lovely quiet atmosphere and lovely beds.
Cons: The dishes were not washed properly obviously by the previous guests. Dishcloth was grey, only 3 wine glasses, kitchen not nice.
