10.0 Excellent

Cons: n/a
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast in the first class dining room
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Location beautiful. Staff very nice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully appointed
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great staff and pleasant surroundings. The room was large and had windows opening onto the garden. The towels were big and extra fluffy. The shower was the best I have encountered anywhere. The small quibbles were no hair conditioner and no sheet under the duvet, which was much too hot for me so I would have liked to sleep under a sheet. The dining room was light and airy and service was very good. I would love to go back again for a few days next time.
Cons: We were asked what we wanted to drink for breakfast and were not happy to be charged extra for a coffee and a hot chocolate when breakfast was included in our package. I had eggs benedict and the ham was straight out of the fridge and really cold under the poached eggs. Service was excellent and with a smile. One of the dinner staff patted my arm and shoulder, didn’t like that at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: WE were so impressed with how dog friendly the hotel was. the environment inside and out was excellent and the food was delicious. would definitely go again.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Everyone was extremely helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. Due to their professionalism and attention to detail, our stay was lovely.
Cons: The décor, cleanliness, staff and the grounds. Also, the access to many seaside towns made it a perfect location.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast and variety of choice. I had cooked breakfast each morning and very well presented.
Cons: I arrived on the hottest day of the year, and the air conditioning unit was fine if you were directly in front of it. I would image all hotels without 'in built' air conditioning would have suffered in these extreme temperatures. On the BBC1 tv news the local news is from "Look North", which is fine if you were interested in Yorkshire, but I would have thought you would be showing "Look East", which is based in Norwich, and covers Norfolk, Suffolk & Essex. Some of the local events could then be viewed. It was interesting that on BBC Main news there was an item about a man being rescued from rising sea levels at Sheringham (just a few miles from the hotel's location), yet the local news was about a giant cooling station being demolished in Yorkshire! Is that something that can be changed?
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely dog friendly, own blanket to keep
Cons: No gym or swimming pool
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The food is of an excellent quality. Reception staff are excellent (charming helpful and Friendly
Cons: The service in the restaurant was variable from excellent to poor (waited 30 minutes for a glass of wine and didn't really know who was supposed to be looking after us) (although the food was excellent catering for both vegetarian and ordinary pallets. However on some nights with different people it was superb.

Pros: The room was spacious, clean and airy. A small fridge with fresh milk, two small bottles of water and orange juice provided. There is a shower over a bath- all exceptionally clean. The breakfast was served with a twist and was tasty. The B&B is in a remote part of Norfolk which suited us- it is in a beautiful spot. Tony is a lovely, friendly chap who made sure our stay was comfortable.

Pros: The breakfast was very good and the room was well appointed and very comfortable. Great pillows and bed linen. The hotel is perfectly positioned to explore all that Holt has to offer and is a short distance from the beaches and historic sites of Norfolk
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful b&b / hotel where the staff really go out of their way to ensure guests enjoy their visit. Spent the first night in beautiful attic room. I had trouble sleeping in the hot weather as I am pregnant - but it would usually be fine. I asked if we could move to a colder room on lower floor and got moved to one of the most beautiful hotel rooms I have seen - complete with a bath big enough to swim in and a separate wet room. Staff were so accommodating and lovely in moving us, as there was really nothing wrong with the first room - other than my own body temperature! The food in the hotel is also amazing - breakfast was delicious and the waiters were lovely, even the super young ones have obviously been well-trained in how to make guests’ experiences perfect. Also - the deli is divine. Highly recommend the hog box and pasties!
Cons: Nothing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is ideal if you want to be in central Holt near the shops, it suits us as we visit family who live near by. The rooms are also nicely furnished and of a good size.
Cons: The restaurant/ cafe has gone downhill in recent years, the quality of the food is not in line with the general ‘locally produced’ fayre that is on offer in many other places nearby. I remember Byfords from years back and the food is now quite tasteless in comparison to what it was. The mattresses on the beds are also very soft which certainly doesn’t really suit us.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Almost everything.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in a beautiful part of the north Norfolk coast. Plenty of walks along the coast with well maintained & accessible paths. I recommend doing one of the trips to see the seals. Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were friendly and the full english breakfast was one of the best I've ever had, the sausages were very nice. There was parking available when we arrived but the chap on reception said he would ask a member of staff to move their car to accommodate, which wasn't necessary as we were off out soon after we checked in. There was no problem parking when we came back later in the evening.
Cons: Honestly couldn't find fault with the hotel. Only thing I would say, and this is nothing to do with the hotel, if you are attending an event and require a taxi then make booking one a priority as there are not many locally.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, lovely rooms. Breakfast was very good.

Cons: Nothing to dislike.
7.0 Good
Pros: V comfy beds, nicely decorated, lovely staff.
Cons: Room smaller than photo suggested. Also hot and no AC, which bus fine but right outside is gravel drive and car park so don’t expect to sleep in.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff helpful and friendly
Cons: Food
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Really comfortable beds with good pillows. Lovely locally roasted (grey seal coffee company) fresh coffee in the room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in a quiet backwater, yet within easy walking distance of the town. In a beautiful countryside location, yet only a short 10 minute drive to the coast. Plenty of parking, great food available in the restaurant. Good bar with a selection of ales & Lagers, and a good selection of Locals to have conversation with! Great beer garden, and plenty to keep the small kids happy if we had got any! The Staff were all helpful & polite, and our Dog was made very welcome also. Good local walks on the doorstep to keep him happy!
Cons: Bedroom was really hot, even with the window open all day. A fan had been provided prior to our arrival, but the temperature remained high all night. Our visit coincided with the end of the recent heatwave, and the room did cool down to a comfortable level over the next couple of days! A common problem with an old building, with no easy solution. Could have benefitted from a portable air-con unit I suppose, but then again we weren't paying for 5 start accommodation!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and architecture
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were great helpful and attentive and had humour! Free glass of wine as room was not ready ..
Cons: Nothing

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant & Bar areas
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, spotlessly clean. Staff were lovely.
7.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was in a nearby B&B (Byfords) and that was terrific.
Cons: Beds were a tad soft. Our room was right next to the busy roads. In the mornings there was a lot of noise from delivery lorries/ dust carts etc. Car parking is a nightmare in Holt - so be prepared!
7.0 Good
Cons: Clean and generally OK but at the price (£120/night) there is much better available. Also needs TLC e.g. window frames falling apart and windows don;t open, not good in hot weather!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, with character and tastefully decorated. Breakfast good, the pub, locals and staff were friendly.
Cons: Not a lot!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome, great facilities and location.
Cons: The breakfast at Byfords was nice but when we went they were very busy and hadn’t restocked the danishes/pastries for the whole time we were there. They only filled up juices when we asked, so not everything was available.
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff were very accommodating and the location is excellent. The room was huge and clean.
Cons: It is super loud and was until at least 12am with the pub downstairs. There isn’t any parking and I had to drive around for an hour to find a space. I am not sure if that is normal or it was a busy day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was beautifully furnished and spacious accommodation
Cons: Nothing - it was superb
9.5 Excellent
Pros: the breakfast was first class
Cons: we came in through the front of the pub and wondered what we had come to? It took ten minutes for us to be seen to. After being shown to our room the rest was a delight!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stay at this property regularly, we just like the area, the staff and the facilities and the food!
Cons: Absolutely nothing.

8.5 Excellent (576 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Holt, The Lawns is within a 15-minute drive of Sheringham Beach and Cromer Pier. Free self parking is available onsite.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good location
Cons: Was told it was an accessible room but no grab bars in situ and anyone in a wheelchair wouldn’t have been able to shower. Breakfast buffet table only average. Television didn’t work and we were not informed on booking. Heavy dust on furniture.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was a very good size, as was the bathroom. Everywhere was clean and the staff were friendly and efficient. The outside of the hotel has a couple of nice areas to relax and enjoy a drink or two in the sun and there is a car park on site which was avoids the hassle of finding somewhere to park. The location is convenient if you are planning to visit different parts of Norfolk as it has easy access to the main road.
Cons: Only a small thing but the TV in our garden room did not work due to the atmospheric conditions, not much of an issue for a night but would have been if we had a longer stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness, friendliness and comfort
Cons: Not able to watch news on TV because of hot weather - hardly fault of hotel but annoying just the same
6.3 Good
Pros: Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Location is excellent, outside space to sit and having car parking is very helpful.
Cons: Downstairs this is more of a pub with food rather than a hotel. Nowhere very comfortable to sit as a resident. most of downstairs is taken up with bar area. stairs up to rooms from ground floor very narrow and need a bit of TLC, once on first floor it is fine and very clean. Service varied from being very welcoming and helpful to slow and rather surly: there seemed to be a lack of management and consistency.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely big clean room. Relaxed atmosphere. Tea and coffee bits for room plentifully. Food and presentation very good. Lovely conservatory and garden area. Fantastic location to explore the town which is full of individual and quirky shops.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was good, people friendly, place lovely clean. Sat in gardens in evening really relaxing. I would recommend it to anyone. Enjoyed our stay and would go again. Right in Holt which a lovely place, nice Indian had a meal on night.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fresh milk in the fridge in the room
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was convenient. Pleasant time spent in the garden. Excellent breakfast

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing room with a lovely view to the garden. Annabel was a great host, and we especially enjoyed the continental style breakfast she served us in the room in the morning.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: At this price point we could have had the other options of a self catering cottage or a 4 star hotel. For us though this was a perfect 'snug' for just the two of us. It's a charming, unique and a lovely Norfolk experience. The host is professional and welcoming, but non intrusive and provides a nice continental breakfast in this annex room. It's a great little apartment style annex with it's own entrance and garden. It's not self catering, but there is a small area with tea, coffee and refrigerator. A small micro wave may also be just the job, but there are countless eateries close by.
Cons: Nothing, it's great as is the host.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Excellent location. Pretty outside area to sit.
Cons: Shower room was basic. Furniture was dated.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely breakfast. Lovely spot near Cley. Super dinner at the Wiveron Bell.
6.3 Good
Pros: location nice garden nice bed and furnishings
Cons: The kitchen is limited. Yes a cooked breakfast in the owners property is on offer. Available space permits only a small fridge with tiny ice box and no ice ready in it. Washing cups in a glass sink in the bathroom with loose tap. Not what you expect for this money
7.5 Good
Pros: Continental breakfast was more than enough to keep us going till 3.00pm and served on the dot when we had asked for. Room is at back of property and looks over lush green garden. Private and quiet, with comfortable bed. Owner very accomodating and told us to take our time on the last morning, which we did, enjoying an extra cuppa in the garden before leaving.
Cons: Parking was a liitle tight if you have a large vehicle but there is a green right outside if you need. A previous reviewer said the furniture was dated and it did look a bit worn.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If the locale wasn't already beautiful enough, the cozy room and incredibly helpful host would still make this a remarkable pleasure. The bed was very comfortable, the heated floors a delight for cold toes, and the sitting area should be a National Treasure all on its own.
Cons: All good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spacious room with full run of the pretty garden. Big comfy bed and enormous tv. Communication with Annabel was quick and accurate.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Recommend this B&B. Annabel, our host, was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is very comfortable, well equipped, self contained and open plan, with a separate toilet/shower room (with underfloor heating!) and an area for making tea/coffee (with use of a Nespresso machine). There is also a counter refrigerator, which was very useful. It even had a tiny freezer compartment. Very good breakfast (cereals / yoghurt / fresh fruit / warm croissants / toast / tea and coffee) which was brought to us each morning. Due to great large windows the room is light and airy and looks out onto the garden which is for your sole use, with sun patio and lawned garden which goes back quite a way. Very quiet and secluded. The accommodation is well situated, quiet and within easy walking distance of Cley, the Windmill and shops, including the excellent Picnic Fayre deli and Cley Smokehouse.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing host, so welcoming; amazing local recommendations, really made all the difference to our stay! The breakfasts were fantastic. :)
Cons: Amazing place! Beautifully arranged and lovely private garden!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Well equipped. Very peaceful.
Cons: No hanging space. En-suite rather small. Water leaks on to en-suite floor from shower tray- had to use the bath mat to mop up water each morning.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful and relaxing. Very well equipped. Nicely decorated and beautiful kitchen.
Cons: Shower tray not deep enough so water leaking onto floor is an issue. Feather pillows and duvet was a problem but we didn't ask for these to be changed so that is something we would request to change to non allergic on our next visit.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved the decor, the comfortable furniture, the large tv, the area outside. The water leaked out from the shower door a little bit.
Cons: Everything else was fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful cottage with everything we needed. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The layout was perfect for a couple. Sadly couldn't use outdoor space due to weather but that looked lovely too.

The Orangery B&b - Holt - Building

8.4 Excellent (131 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Orangery B&B in Dereham, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Whitwell and Reepham Station and Blickling Hall. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location and ambience of the place were very good. There was a nice area to sit outdoors to eat and the bed was huge and very comfy. The owners were very helpful and obliging. There is safe parking and a shated kitchen. It was very hot weather when we were there so it was good to be able to chill our bottles of water and come back to a chilled bottle of wine.
Cons: No shower curtain or shower bracket. We both wanted showers so had to hold the shower head and shower each other. The breakfast was nice but there was no choice. There was no cooked option. We had cereal, fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and loganberries), orange juice, yoghurt, toast and marmalade. Most of it was not what I should be eating on the diet I'm on. I would have preferred to have been offered a boiled egg or bacon & eggs but what there was was good quality and was delivered to the dining area each morning at 8.30am by Richard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the great breakfast Loved the comfortable bed Loved how unique it was
Cons: Didnt like the overgrown lack of signage we were there Didn't like the gate - lets the place down big style - lovely accommodation x
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy beds breakfast very good Location very peaceful
Cons: Found it a little difficult to find our way back in the dark
7.5 Good
Pros: Continental breakfast with fresh fruit provided at a time to suit us. We could make a cup of tea with fresh milk at any time in the kitchen. Comfortable converted barn accommodation in rural location.
Cons: There were flies - probably because of the proximity of horses. The bath was slippery and needs a handrail for safety. Bedroom needs a waste basket and a headboard rather than extra pillows against the wall. It was difficult to locate the property - a more significant sign on the gate would help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast
Cons: The flies
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great friendly hosts. Set up for the 2 B&B rooms was lovely - still had access to a kitchen to make our drinks, store items in the fridge etc. Plus a comfy sitting room at our disposal too. Breakfast was continental in style and absolutely fine - beautiful bowl of fresh berries and nice posh yogurts, plus we could make as much toast as we wanted! Only downside was that there were croissants & pain au chocolat on offer - but the individually wrapped type - which didn't bother us as we didn't eat those.
Cons: Our room in the orangery was fine - it just could do with the decor being updated. However, the bed was huge and very comfy.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Disappointed at first that cooked breakfast was not provided, however, the continental breakfast was adequate and fresh fruit, bread etc were provided each morning.
Cons: Our room was dark and gloomy. But the worst thing was that there were no opening windows. We were there during the heat wave and the room was stifling. There was a fan provided but the constant noise of the fan and the heat kept me awake.
7.5 Good
Pros: Continental breakfast was delivered to cabin and was good choice. Owner lady was welcoming and friendly. Room clean. Bed comfortable. If you want quiet country location would be ideal. Need
Cons: We struggled with WIFI in suite. Property was a bit remote. Closest place village Biston is about 3miles away. Nearest town Holt is about 6 miles away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly people nice place
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The courtyard was beautiful with a lovely tree and lots of plants. Our dogs loved going outside and watching the horses as well as having the freedom to move around safely. The bed was large and very comfortable with very attractive and good quality bed linen and the continental breakfast had generous amounts of fresh fruit and a good selection of cereals. You can make yourself coffee and tea at any time and the shared lounge and dining area is clean and there is ample seating. The rainwater shower had excellent pressure which I loved as I have very long hair. The area has lovely dogwalks but is close to all the amenities. We didn't have time to use the hot tub as we spent most of the time on the coast and only stayed 3 nights.
Cons: Cutlery drawer was a bit shabby and cutlery needs updating as well as some cooking implements. The window in our ground floor room couldn't be opened unfortunately so can get hot and stuffy in room but a fan is provided.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful and tranquil, staff very pleasant and helpfull
Cons: Nothing really to fault

Cons: nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel , everything you could wish for. Great location .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant location and extremely well maintained Windmill. The 'Wheat Room' was clean, spacious and comfortable. Its the middle window and has views over the reed beds and out towards the sea. We couldn't see the sea but we did walk to it 20mins along the paths and came back via the nearby road. Go up a floor and you can see rural views or the night stars from the balcony, see and hear the local wildlife. We didn't have the evening meal although those that did said it was excellent. The full English breakfast was great. The management were warm and friendly so the stay was easy. No complaints.
Cons: Nothing really. Understand that its a rural location with few shops and amenities.

Pros: I liked the friendly atmosphere on arrival, booking-in was a dream and painless. The single room was bright and clean, the separate private bathroom which was next door was clean and tidy. Food is served all day/evening with a substantial breakfast to start the day. This was an extremely enjoyable stay although too short.
Cons: Hard to think of anything, a well oiled machine, well done all the staff.

Rooms, whilst not modern, are comfortable and decorated in a traditional style and amenities include TVs and tea and coffee making facilities. 5.0 Okay
Pros: Cooked breakfast and croissants was good, but all tinned fruit and poor mans' muesli
Cons: Our room wasn't made up until we complained - however complaint was well handled and we did get an apology and reduction.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: There was nothing we particularly liked. Not a memorable experience
Cons: Cheerless, gloomy, shabby furniture,, soiled toilet carpet, needs a good refurbishing/makeover, inferior breakfast
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very reasonable price for what was, essentially, an overnight stop. Lovely hosts, excellent breakfast.
Cons: Room was a little tired and the bed was not very comfortable. Disappointed to find opened shampoo and bath gel bottles in the shower!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, hot and the waitress was excellent and went out of her way to help.
Cons: The property desperately needs updating and refurbished, there was no evening meal available although stated on the information. The information given in the rooms stated that there was an evening meal available from 19.00hrs - 21.00hrs. The cleanliness of the room and bathroom was something to be desired.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location and period building and features
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location
7.5 Good
Pros: This hotel has seen better times, must have been a grand place in its day, still a lovely place but a bit tired although the owners are taking some steps to renovate . We actually stayed in a chalet room around the back of the actual hotel it was a bit dark because of the small windows and dominated by a very comfortable 4 poster bed it was a bit chilly but there was an old electric fire in the fire place which we used . Bathroom was ok . There is a bar where drinks are available in the evening, but the owners operate as a bed and breakfast so no evening meals available. There is another pub in the village but there are other holiday places and this pub gets very busy so wise to book ahead if you want a meal, we couldn't get a table and ended up having to drive to the next village to find somewhere to eat. Breakfast the next morning was excellent plenty to eat and well cooked.
Cons: A bit of a dark room décor needs updating and its a shame evening meals are not available.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Like stepping back in time. First time in a four poster bed. Some areas looking so What tired but it is a very old property so that was understandable. Breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Some of the furnishings needed a touch of tlc
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great location for us friendly staff
Cons: En suite very poor, shower didn’t mix hot and cold water, all very dated and some of the flooring very shabby.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I was house hunting. The Maltings has an old world feel about it, meandering corridors, rooms and linen spotlessly clean. Breakfast was lovely. I would definitely stay there again. Most enjoyable
Cons: I would have liked there to be a bench by the lawn so I could sit and read in the sun.
