Cons: the room was very hot, a little smelly and no soap - nothing that couldn't be fixed there and then I'm sure, but I arrived late and was very tired to inform the staff at the time.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was the best thing about this hotel if we had know that we was going to be put in one of the chalet rooms we wouldn't of booked here and to make matters worse the toilet seat was hanging off would not stay in this part of the hotel again

7.1 Good
Pros: Good breakfast.
Cons: The heating system and the shower, which took ages to warm up.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location close to Gatwick airport. The owners/staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is no lift and we had a lot of luggage so right away they changed our room without us having to ask and gave us one on the ground floor. The breakfast was extra but worth it as the rooms are very reasonably priced. A lovely English breakfast. They also have continental. A shuttle to the airport was very handy. 8 pounds I think.
Cons: For us the beds were very hard. Some people like that but for us it was too hard. Our room 104 was a connecting room and we could hear the tv and man snoring.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Confortable sleep
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful prestay communication which gave us confidence before we arrived. All arrangements worked well. Highly recommended.
Cons: Exterior lights from neighbouring property - on all night and gave impression of daylight around the curtains
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent customer service and comfortable rooms
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, close to airport, reasonable rate for pickup and drop off. Comfortable and charming stay.
Cons: Being it's an original style house the only way to the room was up two flights of narrow stairs. It's part of the charm and not a huge issue, but also something of which to be aware. Smoke detectors are VERY sensitive - I created a bit of steam from the kettle and it set off the alarm. My fault, really, but I learned to keep a window open when showing or boiling water! Again, neither of these is a "don't like", just a "be advised"

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous welcome. Great breakfast. V friendly, helpful owner.
4.0 Okay
Pros: they kindly allowed me to store my bags between check-out and my late afternoon flight. the bathroom was very clean. lovely house.
Cons: •WIFI: the wifi internet was super slow, and then shut down entirely. unacceptable in a developed country. •DIRTY: there was a old fan in the room that turned on, but didn't blow any air. the wiring around the fan was entirely coated in dust. disgusting. it clearly had not been cleaned in months, which shows a lack of attention to detail. •CHECKOUT: checkout is at 10am. considering people have afternoon flights, would it really kill them to allow guest to checkout at 11am or noon? i never heard of a 10am checkout at such a small guest house. •ODD: the owner quoted a 7 pound taxi to the airport but it was 8. i don't care about the money, but this again shows a lack of attention to detail considering they must send several people to the airport daily. not knowing the price of such a core part of the stay seems strange.
7.9 Good
Pros: Very friendly staff and clean and nice room.
Cons: The walls were not thick so you can hear when other guests arrive as well as the sounds from the street and the airport noises. The room was basic with Tesco soaps.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Very elegant hotel, vintage building that has been tastefully modenised Very helpful and friendly staff and graceful grounds, nice bar and terrace and a decent restaurant Very pleased
Cons: All good
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, most things about the hotel were positive.
Cons: Arrived after long stressful journey, feeling tired and grubby. When we went into the room (room 202)it was freezing cold, and the room heater wasn’t working. Went for a shower at 6pm, and the water was cold (literally cold tap cold ). We had arranged to meet friends in Reigate at 7pm so had to skip the shower. When we went out we told reception, and were told to run the hot tap for fifteen minutes until it became warm. They said they would send a portable heater to the room. Tried the shower again without success on our return. In the morning the water was warm enough to shower, but in the evening it was cold again. Running the tap for fifteen minutes provided a tepid but tolerable shower. Hardly a green solution though, and I shudder to think what the water bills will be if all the second floor rooms are affected. Would have been horrible had we come off a long haul flight. Considering the appearance of the hotel, which looked to have had a lot of money spent on it, the water situation was baffling and disappointing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Every thing. The bed was big and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. And the breakfast was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms clean and comfortable, fantastic shower!
Cons: Renovation a bit too modern for such an old house, too much gloss white paint over original features. My room was hard to find.

Pros: Owner was friendly and informative of the area.Would stay again
6.5 Good
Pros: Ahmed the owner was an exceptional host. We felt that he was gracious, and very responsive. Also, they were very accomodating to changes. We stayed in room 5 and it had French doors leading to the outside courtyard area that. was lovely.
Cons: The walls are VERY THIN. Not that this is a big issue, but instead of travel sized hygiene items, they have a public bathroom style soap dispenser IN the shower. As to the shower, the bottom foot of the tile grout was thickly covered in pink mold. We stayed in room 5.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location
Cons: Breakfast average
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay at Gatwick Castle. It is always a joy to stay here as the owner and his wife are always so friendly. Cons: No complaints about this location. It is a favorite of ours

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location with secured access and great parking area. Very clean and comfortable. Also, little touches, such as microwave and dining area to heat and eat your own meals was welcomed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great value for money. Would totally recommend.
Cons: Nothing, the owners have thought of everything for their guests.
7.1 Good
Pros: Good security. Room and bed were great with good curtesy tray and local information.
Cons: Walls too thin, lot of noise from neighboring rooms. Basin tap very strange, no shower screen, so floor got very wet.
7.9 Good
Pros: Large clean room. comfortable bed, good location and environment. clean bathroom, coffee included decaff and enough milk. Good shower and two towels each. Has we arrived in daylight it would probably have been lovely walking around the gated grounds, it is clear that they were well kept and the main house looked interesting
Cons: The room was far too hot but the radiator was off so we don't know why that was. Absolutely no sound insulation so could hear next door's conversation! Fortunately that is all it was...! We were in the one bed chalets (the newer part). We arrived 10 minutes after our planned time, which considering the long journey we had that was pretty good. The key was left for us in the porch with a letter from 'Ramona' that started along the lines "I waited until 8pm...) so we felt a bit told off as soon as we arrived. We never saw any staff.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Place was very well kept, great location and we were able to check on at 11am
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Reasonably priced. Ideal for Gatwick departures
Cons: Nothing really

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Truly one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The staff is extremely kind and professional, and my room was magniificently decorated. The bathtub was even big enough for me, and at 6'3 that's rare to find. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet, and the hotel grounds are gorgeous and well kept. I hope to have a chance to stay again someday for more than a one night visit.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location and very handy for Gatwick. Really beautiful building and surroundings. The food was nice however quite pricey for the type of food it was.
Cons: The food could have been better. Other than that I was pleased with the experience.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: If you stay for the airport, don’t waste your money in this hotel. Airport hotels are much better. The room was smelling bad and there is any service. Even breakfast ends at 9 am and staff is not helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Booked this for convenience as picking family up from Gatwick and didn’t fancy a very early start. Wow what a lovely surprise, but more expensive than I would have liked but well worth it for the service and accommodation n
4.2 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old hotel, stayed in a room in the main house so leaded windows looking out over manicured gardens. Staff very helpful and efficient, room was very cosy and welcoming. Food was good if a little bit on the expensive side however probably due more to the postcode than anything else. A place to spoil your better half with a couple of nights of olde worlde charm. Stayed on a lovely late summer's evening so went for a short stroll back towards the main road and found a lovely old pub with a great beer garden so made the most of it, sat on a bench with a pint of their finest in one hand and the mobile in the other hand telling the better half just what she was missing - thankfully I'm a bit deaf in that ear!
Cons: Location - which you can't do much about. I missed it on the first pass and had to go round again as it sits, tucked away in beautiful grounds just off a single track private road servicing a number of large houses so as one drives down the track it feels like one will end up looking down the barrel of an "over and under" Purdey with a finger pointing at the "Private Property" and plummy voice saying " Can't you read?". Then you see the sign and turn in to the car park of said beautiful old hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Booked the cosy room! Wow, 4 poster bed lovely big bathroom, all for a great price. Got there late in the evening so couldn’t sample what else the hotel had to offer which was a pity. Lovely place to stay, ideal for the airport (4 miles)with no parking fees unlike many other hotels nearby Would definitely return
Cons: Bit difficult to find at first, post code drops you about half a mile from the place but having phoned them they guided us in!!

Pros: Excellent location and great guest house. Special bonus, the owner kindly drove me back to the airport to catch my flight the next morning. Highly recommended for those who fly to and from Gatwick.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Close to the best kebab l have ever had.
Cons: The room was small and dated it reminded me of the programme porridge where l was couped up in a small room. I work away from home every week and can get better accommodation for similar money with breakfast included. Gatwick seems to be very expressive due to the airport being so close in future would of been better staying out of the London circular. Paul Wilkinson

Pros: The bed was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Warm welcome and lift to airport. Good location- selection of decent restaurants and ok shops/ cafes within walking distance. Surprisingly quiet. Would recommend.
Cons: The room was very small and no en suite. I was not offered gluten free bread the first day despite it being on offer, when I checked the menu. No dairy free options.
7.9 Good
Pros: We did not stay for breakfast as our flight was early, this hotel is on a busy road and we needed to keep the window open as it was a hot summers night, so pretty noisy
Cons: Noisy road, car park behind the hotel could do with some tender loving care. Slightly pricey

Pros: Very warm welcoming on arrival, hospitality was excellent, loved breakfast and the setting with fine bone china
Cons: Probably the steep stairs to our room with our luggage
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and accommodating staff, very clean and well maintained property and close to where I wanted to be.
Cons: The info on free shuttle was a bit misleading as it only ran up to a certain time, which was earlier than my arrival time. However it was easily remedied so no real hassle.

Pros: Our breakfast was amazingly good with more than enough to eat. We were shuttled to the B & B and back to get out flight out the following morning. 10 min walk to town and lots of great places to eat a dinner and look around to take in the evening.
Cons: Everything was fine however morning traffic was loud in the room we stayed in as you are on the commuter road to the airport. If you are an early riser than this may not be a concern. I would stay again.

Pros: We stayed at Cumberland House one night in Sept. 2019. We were looking for 1 night near Gatwick due to a late night flight arrival at Gatwick and our departure the next day from Heathrow. The B&B was perfect for us. They provided free transport from Gatwick to the B&B at 1am. The B&B was near Gatwick, it was very clean and comfortable, and the full English Breakfast was excellent. The owners were very nice and made our short stay comfortable. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
