Pros: The owner is super friendly. Rooms clean and spacious, Japanese/okinawa breakfast is amazing. You van have dinner here which is also delicious and affordable. Close to a small Beach you could swim and watch the sunset. Stayed here 5 nights. Highly highly recommended when you stay in Ishigaki.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: privacy, peace and comforts, foods are deliciously cooked. Served in good way.
Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super nice host cooking very delicious local food with a lot of non-Japanese flexibility
Cons: We expected the „private“, close-by beach a little bigger (it is a small laguna)...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Country side lifestyle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed and see lots of stars at night
Cons: No
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nosoko is a quiet little village on the north coast of Ishigaki. It's perfect if you have a car and plan on moving around a lot, but peraps a bit isolated if you want to go bar hopping during the evening. Our hosts were very kind and hospitable, even bringing us extra meals and helping us when a typhoon hit the island during our stay. Their small restaurant served delicious food and the neighbouring Forestale Uno was an unlikely but quite good italian restaurant and lacquer gallery located within walking distance. Our room was spacious, with a balcony, refrigerator and brand new bathroom. The nearest beach is only three minutes walk away, but as it was without netting bathing was difficult during box jellyfish season.
Cons: Over the years the jungle outside the balcony has grown quite a lot, so the sea view has been quite diminished. Likewise the path down to the beach is quite overgrown.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, very nice host, very well cleaned and mantained specially the bathroom. Room is cosy and spacious and the beach nearby is gorgeous, although the way leading there is a little hard to walk (totally worth it).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful little cozy place, a little off The beaten track - but that was what we wanted. Nice and clean. The food was a big positive surprise. Only japanese dishes and very delicious . 200m down the road there is a pristine beach, silent and not any touristactivities and no noisy entertainment. To get here it is necessary to hire a car or scooter. You will be happy having a car or scooter anyway getting around. Busses are rare. Beware that at the speedlimit on most of the island is 40 kmh. A few roads 50 kmh. This brings your heartbeat down to the slow life here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Japanese breakfast is amazing! And so is the food in the restaurant. Everything we ordered was very very delicious!

7.0 Good
Pros: This hotel was remote - not much close to the hotel but we were looking to disconnect and unwind which is exactly what the hotel provided. A car is necessary for you to explore the island. The room (we booked a Japanese style without realizing it -- my fault!) ended up comfortable and spacious for my family. The pool and beach were very relaxing as well as the several larger public beaches close to the hotel. While the hotel was nice, it was pretty expensive and probably not worth the price tag. I would definitely go back to beautiful Ishigashi but would likely try out another hotel next time.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the spacious room, the pool always quiet, the views and the beach nearby, but above all the staff, always friendly and helpful with all requests. The hotel is a little out but we had a car so no problems for us, and we really liked the peace and quiet.
Cons: The breakfast was good but lacked variety considering the length of our stay. More fruit from the island would be great ☺️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Japanese Breakfast was delicious! Staff super friendly and beyond helpful. Room spacious, quiet and clean. All amenities covered. The secluded beach is a few metres away. The pool is small but clean and calm. Such a relaxing and restorative place to stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet place and very attentive and kind staffs
Cons: Breakfast was ok- I wish there were more options especially healthy options
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly despite my lack of Japanese, and the food was fantastic
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in organising day trips for us. Property is very clean and agreeable, the pool area is nice to relax with a few hammocks as well. Nice beach accessible from the pool area. Hot bath with a view on the rooftop is a big plus after a long day of activities !
Cons: Wish to have more Okinawa authentic food on the dinner menu.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is warm and helpful at all times, the facilities are well maintained and clean. The hotel is a few steps away from a beautiful beach. The location is relaxing and quiet. The room was spacious and clean.
Cons: Breakfast/ Meals: I have a few food restrictions that I didn’t think to mention because I assumed breakfast would be a buffet and I would be able to find what works for me. Unfortunately it’s not and no substitution could be made for me, but I do think it would be ideal to have it in order to give guests more options especially ones with small children. More child-friendly options at meals would be great, particularly lunch. Other than this, my stay there was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a perfect quiet oasis on a lush and remote island in the Pacific Ocean. Our room was fantastic! Very big, with two comfortable big beds, high ceilings, a great view to the ocean and on the pool area, a little balcony and even a small couch. While the climate was hot and very humid, the room was perfectly cooled down by the airco, and we slept very good. The staff is wonderful and helped us with every need - is it booking a restaurant, giving a short ride, ordering a taxi, and most importantly catering for our vegetarian diet. We stayed 4 nights and relaxed two full days at the beautiful and quiet pool area, while a dip into the ocean is only 50 meters away where there's a small and empty beach with calm and shallow waters. After two weeks traveling in Japan this place was our recharge oasis and we enjoyed every single minute while being there! We highly recommend this place if you want some quiet time off the touristy areas to relax and experience fantastic hospitality!
Cons: We liked everything! Just be aware that there's little public transport and you'll be best off with a rental car.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so friendly! Beautiful hotel with good access to a beach, nice swimming pool and very nice rooms.
Cons: It is a little out of the way (not that far) but if you don't have a car I would not suggest booking here, as busses are very infrequent. This is no way the hotels' fault, just so that people know.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Large rooms, cozy little beach in walking distance, friendly staff and great service.
Cons: Too far out, really needs a car.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, air flow, balcony is very good even it is small in size
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great stuff, comfortable room with small balconies. We liked the fresh breakfast and the tea and coffee bar that was available all day for free. They also had shirts to lent and a point system if you skip the room service. Great hotel! I would come back here.
Cons: The beds are quiet small and bit too hard for my comfort. Also you need to let your car key at the reception which I found a bit confusing and weird.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff, free bicycle renting (bike not so good, but it is free!), water and tea available on the ground floor. Good price-quality ratio. Well located. Appreciate you can choose options for room cleaning.
Cons: Breakfast was just ok. Not so many options.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very nice and the rooms very clean
Cons: A bit far from the port , no closet in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staffs were so kind and friendly, the room is always clean and I really liked aloha shirts they borrowed us for free!
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great. Laundry facilities very good. View of sea.
Cons: Double bed was tiny even for Japan standards. Not really suitable for two western size people. Room all up not very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, few minutes walk to convenient store, and walking distance to public market. The room was cozy, well designed with multiple USB sockets etc.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location very handy for bus and ferry transfers and commuting. Staff highly polite and friendly able to communicate in English. Free herbal teas and free Hawaiian shirts to go out during the day (they must be returned). Great local breakfast (unusual as we hoped and expected)
Cons: Only one small detail. The bed was not big enough but both me and my wife are quite tall not just for japanese standard

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, super-friendly, quiet and cozy - definitely a remarkably good experience to spend time and learn about Japanese culture at the Guesthose Ashibina. Thank you for a great stay!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location close to the city center of Ishigaki port. Spacious facilities for Japanese standards. Multiple bath rooms, cheap opportunity for washing and drying clothes. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are equipped with AC, so sleeping while having 26 degree Celsius is not a problem. Fully and perfect equipped kitchen. Beer/tee etc. can be bought for reasonable prices. Excellent hostel!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was alright, doesn't really matter as the city centre in Ishigaki is fairly walkable. Bus to and from the airport stops right around the corner. Owners are very nice and friendly though they don't speak English. Place was very clean. Bed space was very basic and just spacious enough. Room was very stuffy though, especially in summer. Bathroom was very clean. Bidet available. Hot water also available but quite inconsistent with sudden change to cold water. Washing facilities also available at ¥100. Overall a very basic hostel at a great price.
Cons: Main lights in the bedroom are sensor-type. It can get a little bit annoying when you need it on. Windows in the bathroom could be fitted with a net to keep mosquitoes out, especially in summer. Stairs are narrow which may be difficult if you have big, heavy luggages.

Pros: Very friendly and considerate staff. “Omotenashi” hospitality. Great attention to small details and needs of guests. Location was great and gave us a small island/village feel. We could walk to various eating establishments and the food in the area were some of the best we’ve had. The beaches nearby (a few minutes by car) were awesome.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Ai and An were incredibly warm and welcoming, and spent time making sure I knew the area, where to eat and how to get around. I am gluten/wheat intolerant and Ai checked on every detailed to ensure my breakfast was ok. The rooms are comfortable, and spacious with a balcony. I really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful environment.
Cons: The time I was there a typhoon hit so limited some activities. The place had common areas and a TV/books but mainly in Japanese (unfortunately I don’t speak the language!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is good. Location is very close to Kabira park, just 2 mins walk. Staffs are nice and very informative, they introduced local restaurants to us which is very delicious at reasonable price. Roof top can see the beautiful view of Kabira coast.

Pros: The staff, the location (peaceful, yet plenty of good restaurants around) and a very short walk from the bay. Rooms are very clean! Very enjoyable rooftop terrasse and the common area is very cosy.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a 5-night journey at Lulaliya, with our 2 year-old boy. Very friendly guesthouse. The manager welcomed us and provided all the information needed to enjoy our stay in Ishigaki. The staff was always available, kind and helpful. Convenient facilities (cold water, fridge, flyers, outdoor tap and table...) And no mosquito in the room :D We wanted a relax journey to end our trip and Lulaliya was a perfect fit ! Thank you again!
Cons: Air condition in the room was not efficient at all. Maybe needs a fix? The common room was way cooler.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was one of the best accommodations I've stayed at in terms of cleanliness. value for money, hospitality, and location. Ai was incredibly hospitable and was incredibly helpful and accommodating! The location could not have been any better. There were super restaurants nearby.
Cons: I would have liked a nicer duvet blanket and possibly nice Japanese Bidet toilets.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really nice, they gave us a lot of advice and information on the area, with good English level. The room was nice and clean, the balcony was helpful to make the clothes to dry after the beach. The air conditioning was working well. The room was quiet (except when people were talking in the corridors). The location was convenient with restaurants close and reachable by foot.
Cons: The bathroom was a bit small, but it is common in Japan.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location
Cons: /
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly host and extremely helpful. Very clean and organised place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is owned by a young couple who are very helpful and informative. We were a family of 4 in a Japanese style room with bathroom, reasonably priced. The location is central and yet very quiet and pleasant. Must try a restaurant ( izakaya) “SETSUKA” where we had a wonderful Okinawa music experience with singer and dancer. We all stood up and danced !
Cons: It was too windy , so we could not leave windows open , but to turn on the air conditioning.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff, who helped us sort car hire and kayaking, with excellent recommendations. The traditional feel to this place is lovely and the location perfect for exploring the picturesque Kabira Bay. Will definitely be back.
Cons: Nothing really. It’s a little bit smelly in the room, but this is probably due to the salty air and there are air fresheners to sort this out.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The nice and friendly staff couples in the hotel are talkative and helpful
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was big, clean and the the staff was super friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Waking distance from Kabira bay; super friendly and helpful host (we got a lift to the nearby beach); large air-conditioned room with big comfortable beds; rooftop sitting area with views of the bay. Please be aware that you can’t swim at Kabira bay, but nearby beaches.
Cons: Everything contributed to having an amazing time and enjoy the incredible landscape
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was very nice and helpful The location is very good but you should have a car
Cons: So disappointed about the breakfast. You can’t choose anything, they cook 1 menu everyday, and they don’t ask if you like it or not. They tell you when you have to come everyday ( for us it was 8am .... if you are late, they come to your room to wake you up. ) We didn’t get the last breakfast because we left at 7:15am ... Also, we had little insectes in our room, even after the cleaning. And you have to make your own bed everytime after the cleaning service.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place! Friendly and welcoming family owners! We really felt very comfortable staying there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The woman that runs Joya is so helpful and friendly. She made our stay!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff
Cons: Too early dinner time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We felt so warmly welcome, we were really amazed. The rooms with sea view are fantastic, beautifully designed and comprehensively equipped. We had a private jacuzzi in our room but hardly used it since there were so many and so beautiful beaches close to the hotel. The staff is very helpful and always very kind, the cuisine is an interesting mixture of French and Japanese food. But the best is the surrounding of the hotel, with a large beach right in front of it and a number of secret beaches just a few minutes walk through the jungle away. You can spend the whole day at one of these beaches without being disturbed by anyone. We were even informed by the hotel staff about a beautiful cloudless night perfect for watching the stars so that we were provided a binocular to spend a nice evening on the rooftop terrace. Always recommendable
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really liked this hotel! The location is superb, "off the beaten track”, on a beautiful beach with chrystal blue waters. Seven colors is a recently built hotel with very clean and comfortable rooms, a very good restaurant and super friendly staff. If we visit Japan in the future we will most certainly come back!!
Cons: Nothing, it was just brilliant!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had such a wonderful time at seven colours and were so sad to leave! The rooms were well appointed and super clean and we all loved that we could watch the sunset in the bath at the end of the day. Make sure you do take the time to explore the secret beaches at the right time (we found middle-low tide makes it easier to wade/ swim and scramble, I'd recommend beach/swimming shoes) as they are beautiful, deserted and had good snorkeling. The lighthouse at the end of the road is a must and is spectacular. The rib noodle at the nearby village was amazing too! Thank you all so much for your friendly hospitality and we definitely want to come back!
Cons: We loved the quietness and serenity of the hotel- this is not a dislike and that's why you're there! But bear in mind you should go to a family mart/ the aeon megastore if you need to buy snacks/ sunscreen etc on the drive up as there are no shops in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Near 3 beautiful beaches. Water was great for swimming. Rooms have incredible views. Staff was super.
Cons: They could use more beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: - Facilities are brand new and clean. - The beach is very close to the rooms (you can say that it’s a private beach) with no waves (kids will love it). - Night sky is beautiful
Cons: - The menu could have more options for little kids. - There was no PC available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exception property on the island. Maybe the best. Secluded beaches right in front of the hotel. Isolated from the world. Perfect. Very friendly staff and have staff that spoke great English.
Cons: None.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My stay with my wife on honeymoon in this hotel was magical. The staff was so friendly and taking care of the guests in every detail. The room with an incredible view of the sea and a bubble bath. 5 quiet beaches without tourists to walk in the water and relax, beautiful landscapes to remember and photograph. And at dinner the hotel chef always waiting with delicious meals. It's my first 10 total on this site, I went yesterday and I want to go back.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Unique high class accommodation in a beautiful, remote and quiet beach-side setting. Staff are superbly helpful and friendly. Tasty and fresh food. Very comfortable and well equipped rooms.
Cons: Unique doesn’t come cheap. Also, don’t book this expecting it to be a standard hotel experience. It is a very small establishment, with limited options for when/what you can eat/drink, and you need to book evening meals in advance. But don’t let that put you off!

Pros: Staffs are very nice and prepared the map showing the cafe and restaurants nearby. So chill at roof top, you can see so many stars at night. Basic bedroom suitable for budget traveler. Good location. 3 mins walk to Shiraho beach. And just 5 mins drive to airport. Quite and lovely neighborhood with a little pig and sheep in front of the house.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I knew the staff would be great, but they truly exceeded expectations. They were incredibly kind and it was clear they wanted to make our experience on the island a memorable one. Very grateful for all their help during our stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff were brilliant and extremely helpful. They help you plan your time in Ishigaki & make reservations for you. They also pair you with other fellow lone travellers to enjoy trips together. From the roof terrace tou can see the beautiful stars at night and the amazing sunrise over the sea at 6am. Beach 3 min walk, local shop and a few restaurants which I highly recommend. The locals were very friendly and helpful. Bus pass 2000¥ from bus driver for 5 days. Excellent value.
Cons: The bedroom was extra small so difficult to get dressed in there. The wifi was poor in bedroom and outside terraces. Buy a 2000¥ 5 day bus pass to get you into town. The last return bus is at 9pm, so if you want to stay out in the city at night, it will be difficult. However, I loved the rural nature of this property and was glad to be away from the city.
7.5 Good
Pros: Shiraho guest house is a very nice place to stay because it is in a quite district, near to all beaches by car, plus there are two fantastic men (hiro and yoya) who run the guesthouse that will explain to you each day what is the better beach and place to see/discover. Thanks for all. I hope to have the possibility to come back soon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best and friendliest guesthouse that I stayed in during my travels in Okinawa! They will really make sure that you know where to go on the island, and help you so you can get there. Super flexible and helpful, a great environment to stay in, especially for first time travelers to Ishigaki!

Pros: The Staff was very friendly and good when you want to know where to go on the Island. Nice village for a coffee and dinner.

10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are awesome, place very clean. They are lovely and very helpful. I spent only 3 days but I wish I could had have a week at least.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nothing bad. Large room, Jp-style bathroom, affordable price for pick-up. We experienced a nice and unforgettable trip thanks to "Hero" さん, the owner.
Cons: A bit difficult to find the location. Probably would be better if there were few signs out there
Sky Cucule Ishigakijima - Ishigaki - Building
9
8.8 Excellent (634 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Guesthouse Chura Cucule Ishigakijima – Hostel in Ishigaki, you'll be within a 10-minute walk of Ishigaki Port and Torin-ji Temple. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is good, only ten minute walk from the main bus stations yet no so close to the night life area that it is quite enough to relax. There are also options of facilities you can choose to go for while staying there for quite a cheap price like bicycle renting, parking spots and so on. The front desk is very friendly. They also hosts activities and dinner party once in a while. I would recommend this to anyone.
Cons: The area itself is quite ok, though not if you're an early bird. Only convenient store and port would be open before nine or ten. The bus to Kabira Bay comes every two hours, though taking taxi is not really a bad idea as the price is somewhat acceptable (around three thousand yen).
5.8 Okay
Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: Unwelcoming staff. On the day of departure both me and my friend were mistaken about the check-out time which is 10AM (we thought it was 11AM). Our mistake obviously but the way we were treated by the staff was shameful. We were basically expelled from the hostel and the staff member did so in the middle of the public area in front of all other guests present. I apologized for the mistake initially but the staff member just kept repeating the same as if I’m stupid or as if we were trying to “pull something”. Worst service I have ever experienced.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Even when it is very small, it is very comfortable and practical
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was nice clean and comfortable, it was great!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very cool with friendly staff. Had a lovely stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s beautifully done, they recycle, it’s clean and has good facilities, at walking distance from the port and bus terminal. Very good restaurants nearby.
Cons: There was a strange smell in the locker.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The guesthouse in general was very good! Very friendly environment, pleasant to stay in. It was clean and the room was comfortable (not small). Community room was nice (good design) and kitchen facilities were very good and clean. They pay special attention to explain how everything works and they are very careful on not making noise in rooms area. They change towels every day (which I found a great touch detail). Location was great (about 15min walk from bus/ferry station, and shopping area). Restaurants very close as well as convenience store. The staff was very friendly, always ready to help and give you advice. I would come back and recommended for sure.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great and very comfortable place, close to the center, clean and very nice team. Ill be happy to stay again.
Cons: The location its not next to beach but i cant expect more for the price I paid. Everything was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super comfortable hostel! It was probably the best hostel I ever stayed in. The beds were comfortable, bathroom and common spaces were really nice and clean!! The common space is really good for meeting people and I had such a fun stay.
Cons: One small thing, after I checked out and 10, I left the hostel and came back at 11 and waited in the common space of the hostel for maybe 10 minutes until I had to catch my bus. The staff then came up to me and said I have to pay a 700¥ fine for overstaying.. I was quite angry about that as I payed for 6 nights and checked out in time! In the end I didn’t have to pay but still it left me feeling a bit uncomfortable..
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very nice, especially credits for one girl whose name started with M I think. They would always help me with my problems even though their English wasn't perfect. The bed was comfortable after all hard asian mattresses in other places. Good bathroom facilities with dispenser soaps and towels. Very affordable bicycle rental.
Cons: It was pretty noisy as you seemingly have your private space but basically you are sleeping in a dorm of +20 people. Also the safety worried me as a solo woman traveller because there were no locks on doors and only a curtain between women's and men's dorms (altough nothing happened)

Cons: No BBQ facilities
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was BIG! And truly comfortable for me and my boyfriend to stay for 2 nights in Ishigaki. The host was very generous and everything went very systematically well when we checked in. The utmost thing we want to say is that we just LOVED the breakfast. The reason we had a really good time with good energy in Ishigaki was because of the breakfast what host had made for us. Her breakfast was the best meals we had in Ishigaki. Really want to thank the host for the utmost sincerity breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Like the breakfast. Spacious room for 2 and well equipped.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and had everything you needed, clean towels provided everyday. Breakfast every morning was very nice, mixture of the additional Japanese and western. Staff extremely nice and helpful. Location was a quite area, easy access to buses and the airport, about 30min to the city Center.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: no double bed, was two singles
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything is perfect. Room is stylish comfortable and clean, the breakfast is delicious. The host is friendly and helpful.
Cons: Location is not convenient but I like there, more quietness and peaceful. Just drive about 15 or 20 mins to the town.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is unsurpassable with great views from every room and the sound of the sea just yards away.If you want the kind of efficiency where space and homely decor make you feel totally relaxed this is it. There is a superb veg shop and fish and meat market in the city - easy bike ride away: have a go at some Japanese meals or revert! The owner and staff though are so friendly and knowledgeable about the island that you get to find all the places to visit on this laid back tropical island. When at the hotel you feel at home.
Cons: Don't expect luxury touches _ not a disadvantage for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner are very nice and helpful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: People were very nice. Don't mistaken, it's not an hotel, it's rooms to rent. Therefore, if you want to have a breakfast, you have to tell them so. You can't come in the morning, willing to have breakfast in the place because it's rainning outside. There's one place not too far for breakfast. The place is a little far from everywhere (15 mn walking from the nearest family mart, 40mn from the city, 40mn from a real beach). When the tide is hight, you can swim down the hotel, if there's no wind (in the morning for example) ; but you can not lay on the beach and rest. Because there's no beach Regarding the room... it was perfect : large room, with everything, people very nice. My wife didn't like too much the bed, but it was OK for me. There's a balcony where you can stand, but it's not large. There's a kitchen (no microwave) where you can cool a little if you want. A fridge, and over tools we didn't use and I don't remember !
Cons: it's a little far from everything
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view is amazing ! The flat we got was on a corner, so we had two patio doors overlooking the magnificent sea around Ishigaki. The place was big, with a small kitchen for us to prepare meals when we didn't want to go out. There is a parking, so you can park (it's better to rent a car in Ishigaki if you want to roam freely).
Cons: The water of the shower was changing temperature suddenly. When set correctly it suddenly went to cold, then hot. The beds were a bit flat.
6.8 Good
Pros: On the ocean and kitchen
Cons: Bedding and bed
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner can provide the variety of water sport (Snorkelling, diving, fishing...). Very friendly and recommended a few excellent restaurants.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious including a kitchen and appliances. It was right on the water with a nice view. The owners were accommodating after an initial misunderstanding and brought us pineapple.
Cons: It would’ve been very difficult to communicate without our Japanese friend. The rooms are misleading as they show a pull out couch and some sites state that the rooms fit 3 people, however we had to pay an additional $200 usd when we arrived to have a third person in the room. They were accommodating after this but it was a bit frustrating. Room is a bit out of the way and taxis were a bit pricey but there’s a bus stop nearby.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Tv, A/C, bed, view
Cons: The bathroom wasn't shiny.. but still ok.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner is sincere and welcoming. Tried her best to accommodate our needs, both in the guesthouse and activities arrangements. However, typhoon cannot be controlled and not able to enjoy water sports from them.
Cons: Limited speaking English. May have to try Google translate and body language to guess the real meaning at some point

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The pension was very nice and The owner of the pension was very kind and useful. She was always available for suggestion and tips, she reserved for us restaurant and also the best sushi in town, then when I told her I am not a big fan of Japanese breakfast with soup or tofu, she prepared for me always bread and hams with yogurt which was very appreciated.
Cons: We liked everything, nothing to complain about.Location was very nice, in front of a resort with very nice beach. Only advice is to rent a car, If not you're far from everything but the resort so you cannot enjoy the island. We had a car, so everything was OK.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfy
Cons: There should have been ash trays on the deck at the back of the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really good, both western and japanese. You can rent a bike and ask for advice, the owner is really friendly and helpful!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tomoko was an excellent host who answered all our questions. We often walked to the nearby Fusaki Resort to go to the beach and pick up snacks at their indoor store. Ishigaki is a stunning place!
Cons: Not necessary a bad thing, depending on what you are looking for, but the location is a bit far removed from town and the bus runs only 5-6 times a day.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: I had a room with a private bathroom, it was clean and quiet. The air conditioning was well working. The staff was nice even if the English speaking skills were limited. It was located not far from the city center by foot, and not far from Ishigaki port, which was convenient to take a ferry to the islands next to Ishigaki. There was a Family Mart very close to it which was really convenient.
Cons: Nothing to report.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I didn’t expect much since the bathroom and shower is shared, but it was so clean and pleasant. I also have stayed at blue cabin once and I would this is a lotttt better option. Room is cozy and neat, kitchen area comes in handy. I stayed in Ishigaki for three nights and I was so happy about my choice. Also drugstore and convenience store is right next door. And thank you for your kindness again
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Walking distance of ferry port, which was useful as we were island hopping. Also close to lots of restaurants, bars etc. Place itself was nice, cold drinking water provided (a plus) room was a decent size as well.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room and toilet was very clean and neat, and the staff was nice too!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is new and well located near the port and bus terminal. The room was clean, albeit a bit small, and shared bathroom/shower were very clean and convenient. Overall good value for money.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: owner is very nice and helpful, give us direction and call the restaurant we are looking for. Driving around Ishigaki is a joy and parking is just right in front of the hotel, location is central in the city
Cons: everything is very well, clean and tidy, just keep your voice down and do not disturb other. new hotel, hope to have a chair to sit in the room
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Feel very safe even though there was no attendant around most of the time.
Cons: Check in time too late. Check out too early

Cons: Loved everything

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous retreat
Cons: A bit far out of the town but good taxi services Local beach wasn’t great but access to both pools made up for it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a great hotel! The staff was absolutely fantastic and do anything for their guests!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is great.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The food was really really good: buffet dinner was a mix of local okinawan and western dishes, with clearly an experienced chef preparing the western food (French influence) with delicious and authentic foie gras, seafood chaussons, crepes etc. and including local alcohol (awamori). The swimming pool is nice and clean. Free draft beer machine in the hotel lobby! Rooms are clean, well furbished and spacious
Cons: No beach front. Closest beach is a few minutes'walk away but just soso. The swimming pool is small. It could be much bigger if the area dedicated to a small pond with funtains was actually a pool
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and big appartment Friendly staff
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is very new. We enjoyed the room.
Cons: The hotel is not well suited for western guests. The pool did not meet our expectations. everything looks much better hon the photos. the hotel is at the beach, but there is no beach facility. only a few staff do understand english. the breakfast is very Japanese style. Ishigaki is so far away from everything, it makes sense to spend more money to be at a hotel that meets western expectations on this island.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very huge hotel resort. And very big rooms with comfortable bathroom and luxurious beauty amenities. The resort has 2 pools (you can use both of them) and best breakfast we ever had at Okinawa - you can try so many local food! Pool towel service is also nice.
Cons: Biggest disappointment was the beach - very dirty! Also the hotel area is nothing special - huge tank of water in the middle is full of mosquitos who eat you to death immediately after sunset.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Well, it's a "resort" on an Island. Other than that, it's quite a disappointment. Breakfast was nice and decent.
Cons: Well, first of all, I really don't know how this is 4 star. We came here for our honeymoon, and did expect to leisure about on the beach with a nice cocktail in our hands. or the very least the pool. No bar, not cocktails. No beach close by. I mean, there is a beach, but the sewers of all the hotels in the area is dumped there. It smells terrible. The hotel is not close to Ishigaki city (which is old, run down, and quite neglected). You have to take the shuttle bus that drops you off in a different hotel in the city. There is no way to explore the island without a car, as the shuttle bus times are extremely limited! last bus to hotel is like 19:30. Now, we wanted to eat dinner at the hotels restaurant. You have to make reservations, even if you are a guest at the hotel, and even if it's half empty. Prices are absolutely insane, and definitely is not cost appropriate for Japanese meat. They do take advantage of the fact that the hotel is not in the city. 8000-10000 yen for dinner per person each and every night is absolutely ridiculous. We also went to another resort that is connected, which had a restaurant there. They wanted the same prices for Ishigaki beef dinner, 200g of meat total for a couple! We never encountered prices like this in Japan before, except in top rated restaurants, which was definitely not the case here. Moving on, we were instructed to leave "please clean" sign on the door before 10am every morning. We did so on our second day, and went to the pool until 13:00, assuming they would have finished by then. Imagine our surprise when we came back and the room was not clean. My husband went to the front desk and asked for cleaning services for that evening as we were preparing to go to the town for dinner. He also mentioned that the floor was filthy with stains (that is how we received the room upon check in), and asked to mop the floors. we returned the the room was tidy, but the floors were still dirty.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were big. We had garden view and the terasse was great for hanging out in the morning. The breakfast is very nice and diverse. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Cons: The beach is a concrete walkway by the water. It’s great for seeing the sunset, but not so much if you want to sunbathe/ take a bath in the Ocean.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, nice sea view from room and helpful staff.
Cons: Would be good if the freshness of the bread at breakfast could be the mproved

Pros: My son loved the friendly atmosphere and staff he’s looking forward to coming back again
Cons: We liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This has to be one of the most welcoming, comfortable and homely places I’ve ever stayed whilst travelling. Nao and her amazing staff are super friendly, helpful, kind caring and beautiful! They fed ,entertained us and protected us throughout typhoon Maria.Nao also was super helpful with a rental car so we could see some hidden beauty spots on Ishigaki. We are definitely returning to the beautiful island of Ishigaki and definitely to Ho Aloha !
Cons: Not one thing !
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner is the best, very friendly and helpful.
Cons: I was there for three days and they didn’t clean the room. Either the trash which we generated.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Most friendly and very helpful staff ever
Cons: Bathrooms were a bit cramp.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Great view
Cons: The guest house was not kids friendly at all. We could have stayed at a 3 or 4 star hotel nearby for the same price. We wanted to feel at home in Ishigaki, so decided to stay here, but a total mistake. The room is not at all worth the price. Except for the nice view and a trampoline outside, I can not recommend this guesthouse, nor will I stay here ever again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nao was very nice and helpful!!! She made us feel like we were part of a big family!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Common area was decorated in cute esthetic interior, if you like that style you can spend great time there.
Cons: Rooms, garden and building surrounding are not taken care well at all. It’s not only ‘not clean’ but it was dangerous to have broken furniture on the balcony or broken rusty trampoline in the garden... it was disappointing. It’s really different that the pictures.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful and welcoming staff, nice atmosphere and convenient location at the outskirts of town.
Cons: Quad room a bit small.
5.8 Okay
Cons: room is too small, too expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: While the property is a bit outside the “city” everything is easily accessible by bike or car! You can hear the waves of the ocean and singing cicada while you sleep. Ho Aloha is so welcoming. You’re free to use whatever you need during you stay - laundry, kitchen, bikes, kayak, paddle boards, snorkels...Nao is the best host you could ask for. So kind and happy! ♥️
Cons: The wifi was touch and go in the room but really not a big deal. You are there for a vacation. It was good to unplug!
Overview Reviews
There are many leisure facilities to fulfill your vacation, and you can enjoy walking, year-round garden pools, treatment spas, indoor pools and short golf. It is also famous as a resort known as the first starry sky reserve in Japan. You can also visit other islands within about 30 minutes by ferry, which is a convenient base for traveling around the island.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and clean
Cons: Rental towels for the pool
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, complimentary valet parking, sea view balcony, clean and spacious room, pretty gardens!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, easy to walk around the resort
Cons: Wifi slow
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We were in the coral wing with the view of the sea. We usually went to the beach in the morning, lunch in the buffet restaurant, dessert in the lounge, And then swimming pool in the afternoon, sometimes a snack in the little shop. The hotel could provide all we needed for a lazy holiday.
Cons: The little stones on the beach are annoying when barefoot. The queue for breakfast could be long, we were not used to the idea of having to queue for breakfast. But then it is probably just for the peak season.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location. Bath products. View from bedroom
6.3 Good
Pros: I enjoyed the breakfast choices however their coffee was just ok. I liked the warm indoor pool. And their suite which however could not be offered to me until my check out and was reimbursed with points. To me it would have made a big difference if we were allowed to keep the suite for the entire duration of our stay especially since we are Ambassador members and we pay extra for these things but this is always the case with Intercontinental: they cannot offer an upgrade or will not offer for the entire duration of stay. Other than that...unless you have a suite, the rooms are boring and old fashioned. Everything is bland and impersonal. It is, as usual, too expensive for the standard but this is how it often is in Japan.
Cons: I didn’t like the beach where you cannot just walk or swim like on a normal beach...everything is fenced around like a pool for animals...it is discouraging already when you look outside the window and see the small “fenced” swimming area. Kids were everywhere...this is less relaxing...the hotel is a family hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel was spacious and comfortable. The hotel restaurant food was delicious. There is a free public bath or onsen, segregated by gender, allowing people to unwind in the hot pool
Cons: Although i have seen reviews that the hotel was not value for money, i chose to stay there as it was my first time in ishigaki and I wanted convenience (near the beach, and one of the stops on the public bus line). But I wouldn’t come back to stay if I came to ishigaki another time. Given that it is located at Maezato beach, It would have been better if they allowed free parasols or seats for hotel guest as a hotel perk.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: quiet, peaceful,
Cons: long way to the visit any sightseeing
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice pool
Cons: I found the cockroach in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facility , the location, close to beach, nice restaurants
Cons: A bit pricey

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is relaxing and the food is good, salad and coffee are amazing. Room is clean and tidy. Staff is very helpful. Location is perfect. 1 minute to bus terminal, ferry port, Family Mart, within 5 minutes to a couple of nice izakaya.
Cons: No hooks for hanging clothes in washroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: must try the breakfast it’s quite value for money, plus it’s delicious. Staff don’t speak English but she let me check in ahead of time which is quite nice. Location is very good, near the ferry and center. Got the last room of the hostel which with the view of the harbor, lucky!
Cons: None
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly even though she spoke limited English and I speak very little Japanese. Breakfast was extra but well worth it for what you get and the very little cost. The room was nothing fancy but was clean, comfortable and plenty spacious considering typically Japanese hotel room sizes. The location was very convenient being close to the bus station, the ferry terminal, a harbor, local markets, and lots of restaurants.
Cons: There is no elevator which was not a problem for me but could be an issue for some, especially if you pack heavy and need to get your luggage up the spiral staircase. No electric kettle in the room for making tea/coffee but there was a filtered hot water tap downstairs in the common room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, small but really nice. Rolf Beutel
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located to shops, restaurants, bus and ferry terminal. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean, basic and good value for money. Nice breakfast. Will stay again if coming back to Ishigaki
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This place is an amazing little spot to stay at with the best location on the island (right by the ferry and near many restaurants and food spots). The breakfast is absolutely fantastic for 100 yen and the owner is extremely kind and accommodating. Fantastic stay and highly recommend to anyone visiting Ishigaki!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Narita-san was so sweet and helpful. You can't beat the location or the cleanliness of this place. It was very minimalist but that is not to say all your comforts weren't provided for. Every consideration was met. I would definitely love to stay here again.
Cons: Loved everything!

Pros: Friendly staff service.
Cons: Ants found on the bed and on the table, a very weak ventilation in the bath room.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Staff were very nice. Facilities were good.
Cons: The room was very dusty and certainly not worth the price.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is good and with many food for choice, and other facility are also nice !!
Cons: main carpark always full, 2nd carpark need walk 8-10 mins for back to hotel
9.3 Excellent
Pros: You can relax in Swimming pool in the hot afternoon. Breakfast is also very good. The size of room is big in Japan standard. The location is also good while it is not far from ferry terminal.
Cons: The price is quiet high while this is the summer time
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We are happy with your buffet. Location is good, if you have a rent car.
Cons: If there is change machine in the laundry room, I would be happy. I wasn’t able to use spin-dryer for bathing suit, because it was broken.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice modern room, seems recently renovated. Large size compared to typical hotels in Japan. Free shuttle bus to and from the airport. Great scheme on giving guests a voucher to spend in the property if they choose to not to have cleaning service (also good for the environment).
Cons: The location is not ideal unless you drive. The walk to the port is 15-20 minutes and gets quite dark in the night. Retail / restaurant options near the hotel is limited.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Newly renovated, clean and good location. Facilities are enough. Food is good too.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The quadruple room was great for a family with 2 young children and was relatively spacious. The pool was good. There is a fantastic dumpling restaurant along the road from the hotel. Can walk to 'downtown' Ishigaki in about 15 minutes. Would recommend hiring a car whilst on the island.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel location.
Cons: No clear smoking area, should be more comfortable, as me I smoke cigars some time. You need a place to seat confortable, and be able to order a drink. Advised by the receptionist : breakfast is from 6:00-10:00. We arrived at the breakfast at 9:32....it was a problem. They did not allow us to enter the restaurant (with 2 kids). If you say brkfst until 10:00....all around the world, you are allow to enter the restaurant the latest at 9:59..... Here, at 9:30, the staff already remove all the food from the buffet. Inacceptable! Or you advise the guest that brkfst is from 6:00-9:30, then.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel close to the port if you plan to visit another islands by ferry. Nice clean pool with towel service and pool bar. Hotel also operates airport shuttle bus, which is great regarding the fact the airport is quite far. No beach as the hotel is in the town, but has garden and two ponds with koi carps (very hungry!). If you travel with little kids, be sure to visit an amazing playground by the athletic stadium approx. 15 mins far (by foot) - it is really georgeous and without people!
Cons: Hotel offers double rooms with sofa and requests no extra money for baby crib. Then we were told the sofa is for extra money. But finally we made an agreement and hotel agreed not to charge us. Rooms are quite small. Breakfast room is quite overcrowded early in the morning, very poor ice coffee (on the other hand their kimchi was delicious). I need to say I have no idea why the hotel 's name is ART as there was no art at all :-) - except that ART SHOP without art goods.
