Pros: The girl who took care of us most of the time was outstanding. She made our stay better.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The Onsen
Cons: Room too small n photo of the room not shown fully.
7.5 Good
Pros: Convenient location - has a 7 Eleven just across the street. Service was good and food was not bad too. Ropeway was just 5mins drive away.
Cons: Onsen was a little bit dated. Could do with some update.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The facilities were amazing. The Modern Japanese style room was super. I highly recommend it . The onsen was superb. Better than the pictures. The staff was very friendly. The buffet was pretty good (pro-tip try the ice-cream) The transportation with the bus was great. All went as planned. PLS DONT MISS THE CHOYO TEI. These two are partner hotels and have shuttle bus that you can go from one to the other and use the facilities for free. (every 30 min) Choyo tei has a fancier interior, good onsen and a fantastic buffet (if you read the comments for choyo tei for some reason they are not positive about the buffet and I dont know why). Try the soup curry and ghenkis Khan.
Cons: For this kind of hotel I would prefer a more well kept exterior, which needs a renovation. I had some trouble communicating with the staff through email although when I called them everything was fine.

Pros: The onsen was pretty nice and the location for Sounkyo Festival is great.
Cons: Very old rooms with lots of scratches on the walls and dusty corners. I would never give this hotel 4 stars.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The front desk was most helpful in investigating plans for our onward journey and researched the options for us. The hot springs were very welcome after a day of walking and cycling. The view from the hotel were stunning with lots of snow on the peaks. Breakfasts were more than adequate and there was plenty on offer for dinner. The free shuttle from Sapporo railway station worked well for us.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and dinner buffet spreads are decent. Room is comfy and staff are friendly. The hotel is very near to the ropeway.
Cons: Onsen is a wee bit small, but you do get complimentary access to the nearby sister hotel's onsen facilities (with scheduled complimentary return shuttle service)

Pros: The buffet spread for breakfast and dinner were very good. The Japanese style rooms we had were clean, warm and comfortable. We went in Dec and there were heavy snowfall so we didn't walk around the hotel ground. But we enjoyed the winter scenes. They were so serene, so white and so beautiful.
Cons: They could have more games for children. We couldn't go out as there were heavy snowfall and the children were a little restless. Maybe should have group games.

Pros: Spacious and comfortable tatami room. Private onsen. 5mins walk to Kurodake Ropeway Station. Free carpark. Convenient store and restaurants are walking distance.
Cons: We stayed for 2 nights. Buffet breakfast is served from 7am-9am. On the first day morning, an old uncle staff chased us away when we have not finished eating some fruits and dessert at 9am. He said with a strict and unfriendly voice : Restaurant close. Please leave. We were shocked and felt so terrible to be chased away. Not professional service at all. We ignored him and quickly finished up the remaining fruits and dessert before leaving rushly.

7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good.
Cons: No wifi in room
7.1 Good
Pros: Mixed outdoor bath is great. Food are delicious but lack variety. Very close to Sounkyo ice waterfall festival.
Cons: Very rude and annoying young male waiter in dining room. Although other staff members are good. This rude staff ruin everything. Stay for 2 nights to found out that dinner and breakfast are the same everyday.
6.7 Good
Pros: Onsen
Cons: Not english sign
7.9 Good
Pros: Big hotel with onsen and rotenburo. Locate on the main road so easy to find. Huge buffet style dinner and breakfast with snow crab! The rotenburo is mixed so there are men and women (and no one is naked)
Cons: Work is big done on the exterior of the building so it is a pretty ugly view from the rotenburo. Ugly as hell « one piece swimsuit » gown to get in the rotenburo. You feel like a potato bag.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location, great onsens. Food is okay, nothing to rave about or complain.
Cons: asked for a river view, got a parking lot view. not a big deal though. some parts of hotel smells like smoke - it is afterall a smoking hotel so not surprised. Just noting it for others.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The food is reasonable but not a lot of choices. The location is good as it is near to the ropeway to the mountain.
Cons: There is no nonsmoking rooms!! The whole hotel is apparently all smoking and the air-condition is not functioning and you can get smokes literally from the vents!! You can smell someone has been smoking inside. The staff have very limited understanding of English.
6.3 Good
Cons: Hotel is little bit old and no air-conditioning in June 2018
7.5 Good
Pros: The room is spacious, with sitting areas. Toilet and shower were also clean. There is an outdoor mixed onsen, which is rather nice.
Cons: The hotel is old, with only 2 small lifts. It also serves tour groups, hence can be noisy. The breakfast and dinner buffets can be better, in terms of the freshness of the food.

Cons: Frankly it was all good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts are amazing. It's a very stylish place with a laid-back vibe and is extremely comfortable. Everyone who works there is really nice, and very helpful. They play really good music! We liked the onsen, the views and location are incredible, and it even has a mini-cinema downstairs where we watched old black and white Audrey Hepburn films. We would love to go back some time.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good breakfast, Great and warm service from "very beautiful" frontwoman. :) (Thank you again) Near the ropeway.
Cons: Small room and toilet(in room). Slightly smells from 'tatami'
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We’re backpackers who now have a family, so this hotel was perfect for us - the friendliness and social areas of a hostel/guesthouse, with the private room of a hotel. Great location and facilities and super good staff who all spoke English.
Cons: Be aware that the bathrooms are small - for us no issues here, but it’s worth being aware of. You also need to book meals in advance if you want them (not super clear on booking.com)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to help us with a restaurant reservation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice ryokan type stay, we loved our traditional room and the whole atmosphere of it. the food was absolutely amazing, both breakfast and dinner - but make sure to book it in advance. the onsen was small but nice - had all it needed. the extras such as a lounge area with drinks and a TV room, as well as a fireplace were just extra perks. staff speaks great English for Japan, and they were accommodating when we wanted extras (snacks etc.)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The traditional rooms, the yukatas, the Onsen, the modern feel of the communal areas. Great find!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: the authentic japanese breakfast was nice, but beware that it is (of course) quite fishy and salty. Onsen was nice, but not too big. Very friendly and young staff
Cons: Japanese style rooms were a bit smelly. While we read that this is the normal smell of tatamis we didn't experienced that before.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location just short walk to cable car & restaurants nearby
Cons: WIFI is only available at Lobby !!! Why ? From the old two buildings refurbish into nice chic hotel but forgot to make wifi available on all premises.
Mount View Hotel - Kamikawa - Building

6.8 Good (438 reviews)

7.5 Good
Pros: Great location and nice onsen
Cons: Bathroom was dirty with hair in toilet and hair on sink counter and on shampoo container. Bathroom smelled like urine
7.1 Good
Cons: The hotel serves buffet dinner which is not what I expected. The food is so so.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location. Ping pong and board games in a rest area. The long opening hours of the onsen.
Cons: A bit old and stuffy. Also the Onsen facilities would need a bit of renewal.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The location and the view are good.
Cons: The hotel must have been the place to be about 20 years ago. The facilities are outdated, the styling of the room brings you back in the 70/80. The hotel needs a good makeover! Many details needs to be adjusted, the free table tennis are good but the rackets haven’t been changed in ages (if they have ever been changed) and are broken. The staff does not speaks English which makes communication difficult. The room doesn’t have that many plugs and the beds are old (and feel old). Yet the worst was the smell.... we were on the 7th floor and the whole floor was smelling weird (I can’t describe exactly the smell but what come close is retirement home + old soup) and in our room the bathroom had a very strong smell of urine which was disgusting. We paid full price for that hotel which does not deserve that money. It’s way to expensive for what it is. They need to update the facilities ASAP.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The building a bit rundown inside and outside
7.9 Good
Pros: Location was great. Overall the property is looking tired, but that's probably why it was such good value compared to other properties in Sounkyo. The room was comfortable. Even though it was a smoking room (I think they all are), we could not smell the smoke too much. I used the public bath, which was quite nice.
Cons: The food was plentiful and tasty, but fairly basic. There was a sort of high-pitched chime-music that played over and over through all meals. I have no idea why. It was awful and irritating.
6.7 Good
Pros: Big rooms.
Cons: Very tired rooms. Dinner and Breakfast is bad. Cold fried chicken and fries. Ran down onsen. No Aircon or heater
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location near cable car and would have been good for restaurants but they were all closed. Liked the free table tennis table
Cons: Bedroom carpet was so filthy we were loathe to take off our socks. Settee in room was covered in stains as well. There was no way (or at least we could find no way) to turn heating on in the morning.
7.9 Good
Pros: Spacious room. Convenient location for day trips into the mountains and to a few waterfalls. Very near the cable car station.
Cons: The dinner buffet was actually the same every evening. There was a lot of choice, but a little variation would have been nice. There were not many open restaurants nearby (in July), so we were still glad we booked with meals. Onsen not very exciting.
