10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent 2 weeks in Japan (stayed in 6 properties) and the most favorite place to stay for my kids is Nagonde. This place located in a nice area. We had coffee in a nearby coffee shop, very nice. Walking distance to station and bus terminal. Central location. Clean and complete facilities. And most of all that my kids love is the welcome feeling they received from the owner and staffs. You feel like you are connected and part of the house. Ayako, Jasmine, Kanji, Tei and Sam have made our stays memorable. Arigato gozaimashita
Cons: None

Pros: Excellent service; facilities. Close to restaurants and walking distance to most sites.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Host were the nicest people EVER. Our train was delayed by 2 hrs during which they kept in touch with us in order to make sure that we would be able to check-in after hours. The hosts spoke perfect English which made communication super easy. They gave us good recommendations of what to do in the city in addition to what to eat. The house provided sanitary towels as an amenity. It also had free tea, coffee and cookies. This is the best place we’ve lived in Japan during our 3 week long stay. In love.
Cons: Nothing.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Sumiyoshiya in Kanazawa, you'll be a 3-minute walk from Omicho Market and 11 minutes by foot from Kanazawa Castle. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful owner. Big room with own bathroom. Nice small and cosy onsen. Close to the gardens and shopping district and 1 min from omicho market.
Cons: Nothing. It was really great.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good onsen, good room
Cons: Far from the station although you can walk it in 15 min more or less but very close to the castle. The onsen isnt in the same building, have to pass the cafe to get there (indoor pass). The room was fairly sized, but in general the place didnt have a ryokan feeling. Expensive breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything exceeded expectations - location was great, as were the staff and the onsen. Rooms were huge with private bathrooms as well as the shared onsen.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located, fantastic room and the staff were absolutely lovely - let us use the shower after a long hot day despite our having already checked out!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner is able to be taken in the room in true Ryokan style.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
9.4 Excellent
Pros: What a beautiful traditional inn. We loved our stay here. It's a great location, close to Omishi Market and the castle. The room is beautiful, and the onsen (bath area) is pretty cool.
Cons: Probably my own fault, but I woke up with a pretty sore back from sleeping on the floor. I bet it's not a problem for normal-sized folks, but I'm a little too tall and a little too old...and I guess I need a regular mattress to support my spine!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I felt so welcome here. It was our first time staying at a ryokan, and definitely the best we experienced during two weeks of travel in Japan. We were able to check in early and were welcomed with tea and sweets by an incredibly thoughtful staff. Our beds were set up while we were out for dinner, and they were extremely comfortable. We didn't have dinner here, but the Japanese breakfast was delicious. This place is charming, memorable, and a great, great value. Thank you for your hospitality, Sumiyoshiya! We would love to return some day!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect! Very friendly staff, wonderful room, delicious food and couldn’t be more helpful. They even upgraded us to a private bathroom as it wasn’t fully booked. 10/10, my favourite accommodation in Japan.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This ryokan is an amazing place. The owner is super nice and made us feel very welcomed. The room was clean and had a very nice view of the inner yard. We also tried the Japanese breakfast in the morning and it was very delicious. I really recommend this place for your visit to Kanazawa, it won't disappoint you!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We never stated in a Ryokan before but it felt very traditional. The had Japanese breakfast as well as an a continental choice, Although we always had the Japanese option which was excellent. We also had one traditional Japanese dinner that was outstanding. The room was very spacious and futons very comfortable. Very nice bathroom and toiletries.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very kind, the guy at the reception helped us for all our request. We really appreciated
Cons: N/a
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I don't have enough words to recommend you this hotel. Each room is a small apartment, so you get a huge room with same cost of a normal hotel (we stayed, during our journey, in rooms large an half of this, paing the same prize). The room is full equiped, there is cooking zone (with stove, microwave, frigider, sink, cutlery and everything you need to cook), a dinning table, large and confortable beds, a washing machine, a large wardrobe (no so common in Japan), a huge television (with free Netflix included), a small balcony, a restroom, an automatized traditional japanese bathroom with a television inside. Breakfast is not includet but, near the reception, staff offer you coffe, tee, juice, snack, croissants and toast. Last, but not to list, the bright star of the hotel!!! The staff!!! With the dynamitic Kana on the front line. Always cherful and helpful, she helped us from the first time to the end. Explaining us, very cleary, with a excellent and fluent English, wath ware the hotel's rules... Suggesting us wath to visit, where to eath something and so on. She even offered us a ride to the restaurant and she gave us a ride to the train station because it was raining. I think to had knew very few staff people so helpful like she.
Cons: If i really have to split hairs, the hotel is close... But not really so close to the train station and to the JR bus station (beside the train station). To reach the hotel you have only to follow the railway because, the hotel, is beside it, so someone could be annoyed by train noise (We didn't hear noises but someone could).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were super friendly and attentive. Everybody is at least bilingual, if not proficient in multiple languages. The room was very comfortable. We were in the family suite, and it was very roomy for a family of three. Everything was impeccably clean and neat. Plus, so many free amenities! They made the whole stay so wonderful. People of Kanazawa are super friendly and warm. The staff at Inova were a perfect representation of this hospitality.
Cons: Everything was great! Nothing to complain.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nicest hotel we’ve stayed in. They have thought of everything to make it feel like home.
Cons: Location was handy, but unfortunate to be close to train. Although trains are pretty darned quiet.
7.5 Good
Pros: We were in Kanazawa for a very short time. Had it not been for the hotel staff's assistance in transfers, maps, transportation, reservations and information, we would have never been able to accomplish all that we had hoped to do. Our room had four beds. It was a bit tight, but having four real beds was great as we slept very well. The room was nicely appointed, with a washing machine and large refrigerator (and kitchen) in the room. There were a ton of fun gizmos to play with: from filling the tub remotely to others, we had fun playing with and appreciating Japanese ingenuity. This hotel also provides a very nice complimentary breakfast to its guests. The location is along the train line, on the "other" side of the tracks. The advantage to this is its proximity to the station. The disadvantage is being near the train and needing transportation to visit the favored sites of Kanazawa. We are forever indebted to the hotel (namely "Leo", I believe his name to be) for explanations and facilitating these transportation and navigation needs. We had somewhat hit a travelers wall prior to our arrival and I'm sure we were among the most needy of guests. Leo couldn't have been more cordial and accepting of our constant questions.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff ,facilities
Cons: The train pass by the room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff excellent and helpful - lots of tips and maps provided spontaneously of what to see Room was vast Facilities in room including washer/dryer and kitchen Free Netflix and large screen TV Balcony
Cons: Location a bit off the main track
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and courteous staff. Spoke English very well. Always willing to lend a hand, give suggestions. The rooms were great! Kitchen and washing machine were fantastic especially traveling with children. Great free coffee in the lobby on Illy coffee machine. Also some breakfast items, yogurt, drinks, crackers. Rooms were immaculate, shower and bath excellent. TV in bathroom!
Cons: Hallways no AC. Really hot!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were AMAZING and so helpful. The room was huge with ample bed space for our family (3 adult size and one tween size), and the location is right near the JR/bus station and Kanazawa loop line.
Cons: Everything was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: HUGE by Japanese standards. Very modern and clean and the kitchen was great. The room had partitions that allowed for two different bedrooms and there was even a complimentary clothes washer in the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was close to the train station and they even offered free rides to the station. The onsite parking was convenient as we needed a hotel with parking. Walking distance to several stores including a supermarket. I would stay again in a heartbeat.
Cons: I have nothing to say here. It was a fantastic experience.

Pros: Everything was fantastic. We enjoyed dinner at the A.K.A.restaurant.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and clean, nice decorated. Good coffee downstairs. Excellent location to the geisha chaya district !
Cons: Beds were way too warm, even with 5% discount downstairs the bar/restaurant was too expensive! Not a sociable hostel for lone travelers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything about the hostel! Super comfortable and roomy 'capsules' - and modern :)
Cons: I liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We didn’t understand why it is so cheap!!! It has so many details and it is super cozy!! Excellent:)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hostel might just be the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in (and my bar was already set so high after the other hostels I had stayed in in Japan). I liked absolutely everything about it. The staff was so friendly and everything was perfectly clean. The personal sleeping area almost felt like a private room due to its spaciousness, and the mattress was very comfortable. The rain showers are great (I really had to push myself out of there), and so are the other shared facilities. The building itself is quite old, but the interior is very modern and stylish. The cafe downstairs serves great coffee and the restaurant serves nice meal platters for dinner and tasty drinks. Highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location Excellent facilities Friendly staff Clean rooms
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I stayed here with my two teenage sons and this was one of our favourite places to stay on our whole trip. We had a private family room which consisted of 8 large bunks, each with a privacy curtain, light and charging point. The shared bathroom was on the basement level and there was a separate shower room for women and men. This was like a day spa- a really lovely space to use.
Cons: We couldn't turn off a couple of the lights in our room overnight - they were under the bunks but still I would have rather been able to turn them off completely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place! Rooms are spacious and spotless! Kids loved the bunks We had a quad room with shared bath and it was super
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was great. The location is very convenient (right between the castle, garden and the Higashi Chaya District; many bus stops are just a minute away), the staff was pleasant and everything was clean.
Cons: The breakfast is in typical Japanese style. I actually liked it, but wouldn't consider having it more than once if I stayed for longer (I am too used to fruit and yoghurt with cereal for breakfast).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely decoration and spaces. Their spacious and comfy capsule was one of the best I've found in Japan. Location is great.
Cons: Staff wasn't as friendly as usually in Japan. Especially the restaurant service didn't meet Japanese standards.
kanazawa guesthouse stella - Kanazawa - Building

9.3 Excellent (429 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Kanazawa Guesthouse Stella in Kanazawa (Higashiyama), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art and Kanazawa Castle. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a vending machine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice helpful host, friendly staff made for a great stay. We stayed in a group room and the curtains made it quite nice to have a little privacy.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host Shuji was well organised and helpful throughout our stay and his young staff were lovely and welcoming. We were welcomed with a brief summary of local areas of interest and eateries all marked out on a customised map for us to use to explore the area. Stella offered us a home stay style experience where we could cook local market produce and enjoy time with other guests in the shared areas. Our room (B - triple) had a private handbasin and nice upstairs views onto the small street. The guesthouse is well maintained, clean, good value and very well located near the older Gion district of town. All these features ensured we were able to have a relaxed visit and easily enjoy the many wonderful places nearby in Kanazawa.
Cons: There wasn’t anything negative. As it’s a home stay style guesthouse there‘s no formal staffed reception desk. This limited our opportunity to seek information or assistance a couple of times when we had queries which was a little inconvenient, eg. calling us a taxi or making reservations. Shuji more than made up for this when he arrived back as we were departing on our last day and offered to drive us to the train station. We were most appreciative!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible host!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ideally located, Stella was the most wonderful place to stay with my 2 young daughters. Our host Shuji was immensely kind and helpful and we loved every aspect of this lovely simple guesthouse.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good location and cleanliness. The host has exquisite manners and speak good English. I would definitely recommend this place. We were a family staying in a two bunk beds room, which was spacious enough for the luggage and us. Shared kitchen is very convenient too.
Cons: Shared bathrooms were enough and clean, but would be even better if there were a basin on the first floor.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This guest house is in a fantastic location. The host Shuji went above and beyond to make sure we had all the information and support we could need. We found our bed really comfy. We also rented bikes for a day from the guest house which I highly recommend. In the heat of early august bikes made getting around feel much more achievable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Useful tips from the hotel owner (good restaurants nearby). When we left he gave us a ride to the station. Common room with kitchen and free tea/coffee. Five minutes walk from geisha district.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent host who provided lots of useful tourist information in English.

Welcoming staff, great attention to detail, easy and prompt communication. We had a really really good rest here! This place is a little cute gem of Kanazawa!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming hotel with a beautiful view of the surroundings of Kanazawa. The hotel is a bit outside the city centre but easy to reach by bus. There is WiFi on the rooms, the beds are excellent and if you need something, the very friendly and English speaking Japanese hotel owner is at your service. He served a great Japanese breakfast and showed the way to a very cute local Japanese restaurant. I rent a bike at the hotel and toured all the highlights of the city. Great value for money (I paid only €50 for one night including breakfast).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is adorable, with view on a beautiful river Kyoto style. Rooms are modern, clean, new. The structure is stylish and well decorated, in a Scandinavian style clean and pure. Staff is super warm, welcoming, helpful, professional.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location, right next to the river is just fantastic. From our window we had as well a view to the mountains, which was just a great combination. Its a very nice and quiet neighborhood and the bus is in easy walking distance. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds i ever slept in. The host was caring and very friendly. The whole place comes with a great atmosphere and I would definitely recommend it for travelers to Kanazawa!
Cons: The room was really very tiny for 2 people. It doesn't come as a surprise anymore when traveling in Japan and its not a real criticism, this place makes up for it easily with all the other aspects.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Property, Facility & helpful staff is amazing!
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel sararaso is just wonderful. Lovely staff who are very hepful. They would make the best recommendations (and also reservations) for places to eat, have coffee, shop.. I stayed here twice during my stay in Japan and it was excellent both times. Everything is very clean, the whole place is super-stylish and cozy at the same time, the room had a view of the beautiful river and all the amenities you could wish for. Breakfast was superb, everything is freshly prepared and it tasted fantastic. Coffee is great, too. Also, they have the nicest selection of books and magazines to look at in the common area!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful small hotel, very well designed and comfortable rooms, lovely cafe downstairs, amazing breakfast, kind and helpful staff - would absolutely recommend staying at this charming hotel. It's situated right next to the river, very soothing and beautiful views from the room and the cafe. A little outside the city centre, but can easily be reached within a 20min walk. Definitely opt for the breakfast as it's not to be missed!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff at Sararaso were incredible. We only stayed one night but they made us feel at home and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time in Kanazawa. The rooms are small but bigger than others we’ve stayed in in Japan, and full of natural light, which was lovely. The hotel is located about a 15-20 minute walk from everywhere we wanted to go, but the walk along the river is peaceful and easy, and bikes were available. The breakfast was a simple but delicious traditional Japanese meal, and the staff even made us little rice balls to take with us with the rice we couldn’t finish. We had a really nice time at Sararaso and will definitely be back!
Cons: The location isn’t super central, but it’s an easy walk to anywhere you need to go (Kanazawa is a small city). The mattress was also quite hard, which is pretty standard for Japan.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice view of the river from the room. Was nice to be away from downtown and enjoyed walking along the river. Breakfast was good. Staff really nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was handy to the loop bus. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet area by the river. Rooms were nice. Be aware that they serve tradition japanese breakfast but for those that don't like it there is a cereal and toast option. I would recommend this place to stay.
Cons: There wasn't anything I didn't like about this place.

Location is excellent. 2nd floor lounge was big, comfortable. Free computer use. Best hostel I have ever stayed at. Felt like a hotel. We also had a smartphone but we didn't need to use it for our short stay. Staff speak a very good English. We recommend the breakfast in the morning!!
Cons: There were probably a few people in the hostel and therefore there hasn't been the chance to get to know other travellers. Cooking together was not scheduled for the day we came in (Sunday) but the idea was good Our room was on a side street, it can be a bit noisy
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean facilities and friendly staff who speak English and Japanese.

Cons: Breakfast is soso and the walking is distance is a bit more than expected. But it's very near omicho market so it can compensate location inconvenience in another way.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A really good hostel, more hotel-like, like they seem to be normal in Japan. The staff is helpful and friendly, the kitchen is well equipped and everything is well maintained.
Cons: The laundry room could have been a bit bigger with more machines. Somebody took my clothes out of the washing machine, but in this way I lost some socks.

Pros: The breakfast is nice.
Cons: There is no double nor single room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location - Omicho market, Kenroku-en garden, Higashi Chaya district, Samurai district, all of them in walking distance. The hotel itself - it's a MUST for everyone who likes the modern architecture. We loved the Tea room on the 5th floor. We slept in the room for 4 but the hotel respects the privacy and we could be alone. The room itself was very nice but dark with NO view. But it was quiet and we had very good sleep. We were explained that the double room are on the busy road side and the Europeans find them noise. Again the design of the room was perfect and we loved the Onsen style bathroom.
Cons: The breakfast was not bad, but it could be more Japanese. But it's just my personal taste.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location the design and the very clean room
Cons: The breakfast might be a bit more rich
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Located 15 mins walk from Kanazawa Station. Convenience stores 7-11 and family mart are nearby. Walking distance to castle, market and art museum. The breakfast is good and they provided takeaway cups for hot and cold drinks too. Room is nice with a clean bathroom. The door to the shower is clear glass. We stayed at level 5, there is a sitting area near the lift lobby with amenities u can use.
Cons: I guess its the same across Japan, the lack of space for luggages.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is in the middle of the city and on the major tourist route. The Kanazawa Loop Bus stops practically at the front door. Hotel staff was accommodating but had limited English.
Cons: Breakfast was spare. Room was not cheap for what it offered.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Awesome bathroom. Loved the 5th floor tea table. Friendly efficient staff. Industrial chic styling. Convenient location for either walking or taking the bus to points of interest.
Cons: The street noise is an issue- no honking or yelling, more like a rumble of cars passing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel. Facilities are clean, modern and close to the Castle area.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The bathroom facilities were spectacular.
Cons: The selection of food available for breakfast was a little disappointing.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel and staff. It was by far our favorite of the trip. There wasn't much around the hotel in terms of sights or restaurants but their shuttle to the station made up for that. It left every 30 minutes and everything is around the station. The breakfast was unbelievable. Japanese with western touches that would keep any palate happy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff including the shuttle bus driver was outstanding. The description of the hotel as modern, traditional and no-frills was perfect- a great concept. Beautiful garden and easy access to all attractions because of their free shuttle service.
Cons: No nearby restaurants and food delivery options were meager

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic property, big and comfortable beds, clean, amazing breakfast (both Japanese and Western). One of the best hotels we stayed during our whole trip. Staff polite and helpful, the best service possible. Oh, and we saw an eagle on the roof top terrace!
Cons: The only minor thing is the hotel location, in the middle of a residental/warehouse/parking lot area. However, the hotel has a comfortable shuttle to Kanazawa train station, that worked really well for us.
6.3 Good

Breakfast have a lot choices. hope I can stay a bit longer!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff are impeccable. Always smiling and helpful. Everything is extremely clean. Location is fantastic.
Cons: The walls are paper thin. You can hear every single small knock and footstep. We wanted a private room because we like quiet when we sleep. However, our private room shared a wall with a dorm room and we were kept awake late both nights and awoken very early. This is the only thing stopping us from 10/10 on the review.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: wow wow beat expectations

Murataya Ryokan - Kanazawa - Building

9.1 Excellent (591 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Murataya Ryokan in Kanazawa, you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle. Featured amenities include a computer station, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, spotlessly clean and excellent location, everything in walking distance. It was an excellent introduction to staying in a ryokan and I would stay here again when I visit Kanazawa in the future. It was very comfortable which I wasn't expecting.
Cons: There wasn't anything I could complain about.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The ryokan is located 30 min walk from the station, but if you have JR pass you can use it on JR buses. I is in a little alley between a very nicee high street and the "cool" restaurants area. The tatami room was large and had air conditioning, beds, linens, and yukatas were as new. The common bathroom and washing areas were always impeccable. We have been offered great green tea and the water in the thermo flask was always hot.
Cons: They do not manage your payment through booking and they only accept cash. English was basic but enough to cover fundamentals for the stay in a ryokan.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very kind, polite and helpful people, this more than compensated for the limited facilities (no refrigerator in room , wash basin or tea coffee) in comparison to the other ryokan's we've stayed in. But considering the experience of the ryokan in the middle of a bustling city and the kindness of the elderly couple and son who own the place ... it was well worth it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb hosts, nice room and bath. Love their attention to small details. Like every day they leave a Japanese sweet (which they seem to buy the day before) with a tea set.
Cons: The only thing maybe an “old” smell (you know like when you’re visiting your grandma) in the lobby. That’s probably because the building is very old. Plus it’s not a problem if the door is open. Still giving it 10 stars
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location for sight-seeing, but not close to the train station. This is a classic ryokan-style inn. Great value. The lighting in our room was nice, with a window to a green, quiet courtyard. The staff were so helpful.
Cons: The onsen (hot bath) is tiny, and the bathroom is down the corridor. (Beware of the house slippers on the stairs).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The stuff ate extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and nice with walking distance to all the main attraction. I really enjoyed my stay there.
Cons: Only one small thing: when I went back for shower after a humid hot day, some guests locked the Japanese style shower/bath place from inside which was supposed to be shared with other people but that is not a big deal: just need to wait a bit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were so helpful and accommodating. The rooms were restful and calming. We all loved the hot bath
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, clean & friendly - perfect place to explore the city!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, tea and Japanese sweets every day
Cons: That you have to pay straight away at check in and not when checking out or the night before if you are departing early. Dark room, hardly any daylight and musty smell despite owner spraying with room freshener.

Pros: The guest house was clean, after we worked out the area it’s close to a great little Oriental Brewery, shops and a gorgeous little village.
Cons: The walk from Kanazawa station in the hear with large bags. You can catch the JR bus to nearer the guesthouse. JR bus is free with rail pass. This bus would’ve saved 30 mins walking in the heat - had we have known.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a traditional room. The owner was so nice and helpful even though we had a late check in. We even wanted to extend our stay by one night and that was no problem!
Cons: Nothing, it was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing little place, in perfect location in old geisha area. Noto was an amazing host. The place is extremely clean and comfortable for a short stay, very small but perfect for a few nights. We loved this place and would definitely recommend!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Japanese style guesthouse in a quiet neighborhood, walking distance from everywhere to explore. The hostess, Noto, was very kind, friendly and welcoming. Room was super comfortable and clean. Perfect start to the day, the breakfasts were oishii (delicious)! Bonus was use of kitchen and washing machine. Lovely place to stay, highly recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very lovely lady, she looked after me while I stayed there. The accomodation is located in a quiet area but still very close to everything. I will definitely come back if I have the opportunity.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good facilities, clean room and great service. We particularly appreciated the complimentary bike hire that made getting around the city much easier and the location. The guest house is located in a quiet street a short walk from the shops and cafe's of the Higashi Chaya District.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, and charming Japanese-style rooms. The host is wonderful! She is super warm and helpful, and makes delicious breakfast! The guesthouse is within walking distance of almost everything in Kanazawa.
Cons: Everything was great.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Blue Hour Kanazawa, you'll be centrally located in Kanazawa, within a 5-minute drive of Omicho Market and Kanazawa Castle. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a library.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice view, complimentary tea & coffee Very close to the train station Very good organisation & friendly staff
Cons: Unfortunately there's no window at all in the mixed bedroom.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: There were proper mattresses on the bed, which is good for those not used to sleeping on hard futons. The female only area was excellent - it provided a fully safe space for female travelers who need it. There's refreshments, a separate toilet/ shower, and the area is code locked. It's also a five minute walk from the main JR station.
Cons: The capsules were plasterboard and wood, so the slightest knock on the wall echoed. Free ear plugs are provided though! Only one small gripe - nothing to put your wash bag/ clothes on in the shower cubicles, I had to put my clothes on the floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is good and clean the staff is very kind and helpful, its very close to the station and has a lot of facilities, its a must go if you go to Kanazawa
Cons: Nothing no complains at all
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It is close to bus/train station and it is cheap. Good for one night stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The place was very close to the station (within 5 minute walk). I liked that there was a huge map on the board, recommending places to eat, do or visit, as well as providing some local tips! (Like bike rental round the back was only 500 yen for 24 hours, super convenient). The service was also really good, the girl I had couldn't speak English but it's pretty straightforward what she's saying anyway since the instruction card was in English. I stayed in the all girl's dorm, and everyone was really nice in general. Luggages are stored under the beds, but they also offer to lock it up in the staff area for free.
Cons: The guesthouse is on level 3, with no elevator. Beware if you have a lot of luggage. Also, no place to park bikes so I had to just leave it at the entrance area unlocked.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: New, modern, clean and functional hostel very close to the train station. The common area is very bright and friendly due to a range of large windows. The hostel offers a women-only area, which can only be accessed by code. Very comforting for female solo travellers. Very good free coffee and tea can be found in the common kitchen. The bed and pillow in the dormitory was extremely comfortable, which guaranteed a good night's rest.
Cons: The staff could have been a little bit more communicative and interested in their guests. There are no windows in the women's domitory which gives it a little bit of a prison-cell touch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff recommendations and helpfulness .Proximity to train .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: No lift as its on the 2F but the staff is here to help you carrying your luggage
8.8 Excellent
Pros: 1. Staff service was superb! 2. Mini fridges/toaster over/microwave/hot water provided for both female dorm and mixed dorm 3. Hair/Body shampoo/bath towels/hair-dryer provided! 4. literally 4min walk from Kanazawa Station. You can view the station in full as you sit at the bar counter.
Cons: Perhaps better locker storage for each of the bunk beds could be improved. Mine was a wooden locker storage with combination number lock which looked pretty old and could be easily broken into.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I felt like I was home. There was no one around to bother, and the staff was nice yet they left you to your thoughts.
Cons: They didn’t have a nice face wash in the mixed bathroom, I had to sneak into the female dorm to get it.

Guest House Dorumiru - Kanazawa

8.1 Excellent (178 reviews)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Hostel clean and new. No private bath but always very clean. Close to everything.
Cons: No elevator!!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great bathroom facilities.
Cons: Narrow stairs
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location, near small shopping street. Bathroom was clean and beds are pretty comfortable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice interior design. Very clean facilities.
Cons: Very noisy. Walls are very thin so you can hear other guests clearly. Our apartment faced the street and so we had lots of extra street noise. There were no proper curtains on some of the windows so we could not block out the light from the street when we wanted to sleep. I think the quality of your stay is ultimately determined by the consideration of the other guests - some of our neighbors were very noisy and left water all over the floor outside our room so that detracted from the experience.
6.3 Good
Pros: The guest rooms and showers were very nice and clean.
Cons: The cafe was closed the entire three nights we staid there. We were not informed before arrival that it would be completely closed. Rather, we were told they would be serving Christmas cakes, but actually those were only private take out orders for her pastry customers, and not served in the cafe. The cafe has a seperate entrance from the guest rooms, so there is no one to greet you as you enter and leave the building. There is no 24hr staff member on site, so I wouldn’t recommed it for young women traveling alone. We chose the guesthouse because of the beautiful cafe advertised in the pictures, we were deeply disappointed during our Christmas holidays.
6.3 Good
Pros: Central location, clean bathroom
Cons: Room very sober, not a real bed but a hard matress on the floor, no reception area, extremely cold in hall way
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed was huge and comfortable, the room spacious, clean, and the building was quiet. Location was really really good and the host was lovely! They make amazing ice creams, which is a huge bonus!!!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The unit was comfortable and clean.
Cons: Very steep stairs to access the unit. Hardly saw any staff in charge. If there had been a problem, there was no-one to assist.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Clean and good location
Cons: Showers were only on the 2nd floor, the walls are very thin so you must talk quietly in the room so others won’t hear you
7.0 Good
Pros: This property is on a great street (except for the noise). It was clean and the showers were good.
Cons: Although the street is great it is very noisy as there is music playing most of the day and night. Because our room faced the street it was very noisy. We only met one staff member during our stay, being the person who checked us in. The whole place has a very impersonal feel. As mentioned in previous reviews, the cafe downstairs is open irregular hours and we didn’t get to enjoy it.

Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Hotel was very nicely placed. It is easily accessible by bus and close to main tourist and visiting attractions.
Cons: There seem to be a crucial difference in booking this hotel (this time) about smoking. Even though we booked a "preferred" non-smoking, the super-expensive golden-week room simply reeked. Hotel claimed to have use special cleaning: mattress smelled super bad and even opening window all the time was barely efficient, it was a nightmare and, clearly, room was not clean.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Noise from outside the hotel - cars, weekend merry makers. Noise gets in the room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Right next to the loop bus which takes you to station or around the city.
Cons: Room rates were high (at least double the usual rate) ...but it was Golden Week!
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was great. They haven’t succeeded yet, but they tried hard to resolve a billing mistake that they made. The breakfast is OK, with a reasonable variety, including one of my personal favorites, good chocolate chip cookies. The room was SMALL, but everything functioned well.
Cons: The room was SMALL. There was a line of people literally out to the street when we checked in, but it was Golden Week, which explained the situation. The staff put five people at the front desk and it went quickly enough. But, the woman who checked us in spoke very little English and charged my credit card in US dollars instead of Japanese yen, without telling me. The next morning I saw what she did and complained about it. The staff didn’t really understand what was happening, but they tried hard to fix it. They reversed the transaction and then ran my credit card again and showed me what they were doing. When the screen said touch 1 to pay in yen or touch 2 to pay in dollars I explained that I wanted them to touch 1, which they did. The difference in cost to me was US$41, i.e., I saved $41 by paying in yen. However, unfortunately, I now have two charges on my bill. But I will sort it out with my bank by disputing the first charge. If the staff hadn’t been so willing to try to immediately solve the problem, I would be very upset.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean room, cafe in the lobby, helpful staff, great location for dining and shopping. Comfortable and large bed for Japan standards, we always love the beds and pillows in APA hotels. Onsen on the roof! We didn’t use it but that’s pretty cool, hadn’t seen it in a city centre budget hotel before. It is close to the garden and castle, which are the main attractions of Kanazawa.
Cons: As is usual for Japan and an APA hotel, the room is small but it’s not an issue, just a little hard to navigate with suitcases. It’s a while away from Kanazawa station, we got a taxi from the station to the hotel which was relatively cheap, only about 1000 yen.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good central location near many of the tourist attractions. The rooms are a decent size for a Japanese hotel, and the sauna facilities on the roof are quite unique.
Cons: I didn't find it a problem, but the area this is in becomes a bit of a red light district at night. Street level is fine, but you might want to avoid venturing into the bars in the higher floors (4th and up) of the surrounding buildings.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location for sightseeing was great. Rooms are small but very comfortable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Visited Kanazawa and stayed here for 1 night. Hotel in excellent location, the room small but clean and comfortable. Good value for money.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The position of the hotel was pretty central and we were capable of going around without taking busses or public transports. The hotel looks modern and there is a big bar in the entrance. Right in front there are several shops.
Cons: The quality of the room was less than average and the cleaningness not perfect. The staff barely spoke English and we struggled to communicate. We choose the Japanese breakfast: worst error ever as we ended up eating in a dirty, lonely and ugly restaurant nearby.
6.8 Good
Pros: Location only couple stops by bus from train station. Very small room but clean and modern.the employees very professional
Cons: The AC is control by the hotel for the cold or heat, couldn’t’ sleep since it was too warm in the hotel. Called the front desk, were fast to respond but couldn’t help. Small location for breakfast and limited with N.A. Foods. Should promote Asian sty’e breakfast

Pros: The room was spacious and the beds really comfortable! The bathroom had everything we needed and at our arrival, the staff gave me a beauty bag with various testers of skin products, very useful and appreciated! It is walk distance from the main attractions that the city offers!
4.3 Okay
Pros: Great location.
Cons: Old and not very clean. There was mould in the bathroom and stains on the bed sheets. A hostel would probably have been cleaner.
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel is slightly outdated but kept in a reasonable state. There wasn't any unpleasant odor in the room. The breakfast was a good value.
Cons: The table in the room was very small and slightly dirty behind the TV.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were great, and we were given a special ladies’ gift on arrival! The room itself was on the small side, but with two small double beds. As with all Japanese hotels we stayed in, we were provided with plenty of good quality soap, shampoo and conditioner.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: Not clean, very old and rundown Not much facilities
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Good location
Cons: It was dirty and smelt of mould
