Pros: Almost every member of staff was professional, super friendly and very helpful. Arranged car and driver at below street rates, directions, restaurant suggestions and were lovely. Very clean, immaculate rooms. Large. Basic breakfast lovely, always a new dish or two every day plus usual fruit, yoghurt, eggs, dhal, sausages, cereal, coffee/tea, pastries and toast.

Pros: Firm but comfortable beds which was a god-send after all the rock hard beds elsewhere, quiet neighbourhood between 10pm & 7am, complimentary airport shuttle, complimentary welcome drink, whisper quiet air con in the room, super friendly staff from all levels of service (managers, desk staff, door men etc). Only 500m from the pedestrian street of Thamel, and the price was excellent!

Cons: We had twin beds as double bed is too small for us. One of the bed near was noisy and too soft so not I told reception.we only stayed 2 nights but I am sure they would have done something if they knew as theyare very nice and caring. Room could do with tissues and dressing irvsomehere to put clothes. A fridge would be great too

Cons: Room quite small. Bathroom tiles had some mould on them. TV didn't work. Breakfast offerings quite poor, only highly processed bread or potato for carbs. At 6:30am breakfast attendant told me it would take half an hour to warm up coffee machine. Why not turn it on earlier if breakfast starts t 6:30? She seemed rather unimpressed at having to do breakfast service early in the morning.

Cons: Housekeeping were banging away at 6.30am making it impossible to sleep in, no maple syrup for pancakes, shower temperature was only warm despite having the tap on 100% hot with no cold.

Pros: The Eco Hotel staff were amazing - after having issues with my visa on arrival Raj and his staff brought money to the airport for me. They will generously help you organize anything you need from tours to transportation, questions etc. The rooms were comfy and quiet - just what we needed before starting our Everest 3 passes trek. The in house restaurant was also really good. Great location in the heart of Thamel. Close to the walking street with many restaurants, gear and knick knack shops within steps. Definitely recommend to anyone starting/finishing their time in Kathmandu. Thanks Eco Hotel!

They were flexible to prepare a packed breakfast as were leaving early. They even prepared ham, even if it was not supposed to be inlcuded in the pack. The rooom was clean and tidy, with comfortable bed. They always provided a 1L bottled water everyday.

Cons: Very small room. Wifi doesn’t work. Room had no view. Instead was blocked by the building outside. They arranged my bus ticket to pokhara, quoting the price of 800 INR. But after boarding the bus, i realized it was 700 NPR. This spoiled my overall experience. During checkout, it was raining very heavily thus i asked the reception if its possible for them to arrange a drop-off to bus station. I didn’t knew that i was supposed to be very specific that i wanted drop off by car. They arranged a person to drop me off who was walking with an umbrella and i, the guest, had to walk behind him matching his pace under heavy rain with no umbrella.

Pros: The buffet breakfast was more than adequate for us to start our days of long walks to the UNESCO sites. The chefs and wait staff there are friendly and helpful. The manager Raj was very helpful with our enquires on treks etc. He will be there to greet you and send you off. The concierge (my bad for not asking his name} is a regular sunshine everytime we meet in the lobby. He is always up for a chat. He was very helpful too when our TV set box had problems. Seems the staff multitasks well. We were upgraded to a family room and that was a pleasant surprise as the room is bigger and beds were comfy. The only negative part is I suspect poor sewage system in the toilet area as there was an unpleasant smell once a while. Other than that it was perfect. The cable TV channels are great especially for guests who like to stay in their room more often than us. The location is fantastic too as it is right smacked in Thamel which is the main shopping area in Kathmandu. Everything is within walking distance. The food joints are plentiful and prices really reasonable. We found a cafe, Seaquinn which serves local, and international food.The staff is friendly,the food is great and the prices really reasonable. It is located on the left side of the hotel about 50 metres down the road.

Cons: Other than the perceived sewage problem in the toilet area there is nothing not to like as far as we were concerned. If you have expectations of a 5 star hotel of western countries then DOM may not be your choice. DOM caters to savvy travellers who spend most days out trekking, sight seeing and shopping and yet able to come back to a comfortable environment.

Cons: Our flight from Lhasa to Kathmandu was cancelled and we were not able to come and stay that day in DOM Himalaya Hotel. We arrived next day but had to pay for 2 night stay, anyway. I sent them an email and asked for refund, but, so far, they haven't found it necessary to give me an answer yet. So dissapointing.

You can get private room as well as dormitories at very cheap and affordable rate like for 8 bed sharing dormitories u just need to pay hard 3 $ or you can pay in ur currency. The washroom is neat and clean. Note, this is not a 4/5-star hotel or so, but the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. Even though it's close to main Thamel streets this guest house is located in inner yard of several buildings so we could easily escape from all the hustle and bustle of crowded streets. The room and bathroom was clean and neat and big enough even for all our baggage. The stuff was friendly and very helpful when we needed to extend our stay. Big advantage is the place next to reception with chairs, tables and good wifi during the day and wonderful rooftop for the evenings.

Cons: The public areas are not air-conditioned, so it can be muggy. There isn’t really a sidewalk in front of the hotel. When you leave, you are walking in the street. But that’s part of Kathmandu.

Pros: KGH is an institution, I have been going there over the last 25 years. Having been rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake, a bit of the old original and funky atmosphere has been lost. And, it is appealing more to the masses now. But, its still got a great garden haven in the centre of busy Thamel district. The restaurant food is excellent, and the addition of a beauty salon and spa is very nice. Staff is efficient and fast, they are used to dealing with big numbers of guest in and out now. A new annex building is still under construction, The rooms are ok and functional.

Cons: I could not help but reminisce to the property's old days. But things change, and the atmosphere here is still great, and the rebuilt buildings have some old charm still. It is an ideal hub from which to plan your Nepal trek or other adventure and a good place to meet other travellers. The room was functional, but a bit over priced for what you get.

This branch I guess is the main branch, yet it was not up to standard as the room we stayed in KGH Waterfront Pokhara which was amazing, clean and ambient. Towels were clean but old ragged and off color. However on checking in, we requested to look at the room with balcony (since it was not yet occupied) and noticed the towels there were pristine. We never got clean white towels like those through out our stay.

Pros: Pooja and Mr Dil met us at the airport and brought lovely marigold garlands. They were so welcoming and helpful. They let us borrow some money until we got cash so that we could go and see the monkey temple for sunset. They then helped us get SIM cards and cash. Dinner was exceptional - lovely dhal bhat! Location is ideal for Sorakhutte bus stop. Highly recommended.

Pros: Puja and Dil are fantastic people. They helped us in preparation for our trek. The room was small for a couple but ok for a short stay. There are balconies and some space to sit outside rooms. The rooftop is lovely and the food very tasty. They have laundry service which is great. Dil's son picked us from a place as we could not find the hotel and he accompanied us to the tourists bus on the last day which was great. He also welcomed us with a mango juice which was very nice. Thank you for everything.

Pros: The location is excellent! Near the bus stop for Pohkara, and walking distance from the shops of Thamel. But also far enough from the noise of the busy part of Thamel. The owners, Dil and Puja, are such a lovely couple! They made sure they met us and spoke with us so they could help us plan our trip. Dil picked us up from the airport and even gave us a necklace of marigolds - we were touched by that :) Both of them recieved us warmly and helped us out with everything - from getting a good exchange rate to even personally taking us to our bus when we left for pohkara.

Pros: Such helpful and friendly staff. Helped me organise trip to Pokhara making sure I take the right bus by going to bus station with me. Easy to find. Located far from noise of main street. Great view from top terrace. Had a great one night stop over there and good rest after long flight journey. Thank you Metro Eco team.

Cons: Bedsheets althought washed, it had lots of unpleasant stains. We just used our sleeping bags. It is situated in a residential area and by a temple so it becomes very lively from early in the morning. Barking dogs at night.

Pros: The kitchen is good.
Cons: The bedding was old, torn and stained. The towels were worn and dirty looking, although washed. After flushing the toilet, it was leaking, so was the sink. The place is very noisy, even in the early morning.

Cons: Beds so hard and so much noise - impossible to sleep. Dirty bedding and towels. Toilet leaks when you flush and bathroom very poor. No hot water.
