Amazing value for money considering altogether was £55 for a night with the dog and breakfast. It was very dog friendly and staff were wonderful. Fantastic breakfast with great buffet and rolling hot and cold drinks. Beautiful grounds with great area to take the dogs for walks and a dog poo bin. Amazing little duck pond which he was a view over for breakfast. Short drive to key locations and lots of on site parking. Bar area and lobby lovely and cosy for relaxing on an evening.
Sheets had a large black stain on them and TV in room 14 crashes often. We were in a smoking room which was smelly but presuming this is because we had a small dog with us (we don't smoke). Could hear cars driving past the window all night even though they weren closed. Jacuzzi wasn't working and there was a swimming lesson on in the pool so we could only use the sauna and steam room which weren't very hot so wouldn't use spa again.
Very comfortable bed, surprised to get room with a 4 poster bed. Nice grounds. Plenty of parking
Thin walls, could hear our neighbours snoring. Pillows weren’t the best. Hotel rooms/corridors where very dated, with ripped carpets, need a little modernisation. Heating was very loud.
The lounge was lovely. Really inviting and comfortable, I enjoyed relaxing there and also used it to do a bit of computer work. The bar area was very good too and had a very good selection of drinks available. Food in the restaurant was really beautiful and the staff made us feel well cared for.
Sometimes the restaurant staff were hard to understand as they seemed to mutter everything under their breath. When we arrived we went to the bar to check in as there was no one at the reception and a note said to go to the bar if no one was available there. So we did. A woman came out, saw us and when I mentioned why we were there she muttered something, with a rather unhappy look on her face and walked back out again. She never came back. I went back to reception after about 5 mins later and someone had returned there and thankfully checked us in. A rather small things on comparison to everything else, but it was a shame that the place looked so inviting but the staff, on first encounter, didn't.
Extremely dog friendly. Discreet yet attentive and friendly staff. Very good value for money. Lovely food, lovely open fire. So relaxing.
Had to leave. The dog was upset that the ducks had wings and he couldn’t catch them.
Not what I was expecting for the price, but would certainly go again. Food was perfect too. Just a pity we went there just in time for storm Caira and did not get to see any of the countryside as it was covered with water
False fire alarm in the morning due to the coal fire.
