We had a lovely stay, the food was excellent and clean comfortable room It would have been nice to have a room with a view
Easy access and relaxing 1 Guest had to be removed from the hote - reason unknown
It would be hard to single out one certain thing. We enjoyed everything, the room was lovely, meals at alexanders great and breakfast also in hotel restaurant. Pool and steam room nice too. Nothing.
Staff were helpful - food was good - altogether a pleasant hotel. low energy bulbs in bathroom did not give sufficient lighting
food was excellent no lift if on top floor a few to many steps if you have luggage and children to see to
location and setting
All the staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and attentive and service was first class. While it may seem an odd thing to comment on, the plumbing was most efficient with instant high pressure piping hot water "on tap" at all times
Freindly staff Rooms were a little small for doubles
convenience of location
The staff always had a smile for you The rain
The general friendliness of the staff and the comfort of the room.
Location was excelllent, right on the river. My room was very large with all the little extras that normally need requesting. Good TV, extremely modern bathroom etc. No complaints, slight traffic noise which meant the windows had to be closed which I don't normally do.
friendly helpful staff, swimming, comfortable bar
Warm and friendly staff, excellent leisure facilities, clean and spacious room with nice riverside view.
Lovely room great location good food great staff very comfortable bed The only thing I could say was bad there was dirty cups left in my room from the last person
Hotel staff were very accomodating facilities were good had room service and enjoyed the food Breakfast was ok
a good centre providing good facilities for eating Unfortunately the cleanliness of the room was poor - andn it was not made up or cleaned on second morning of stay.
i booked a double room but hotel reception found us a twin room as 2 guys working in over bridge..so location was exellent found the bedroom to warm even with windows open.. would suggest tv or background music in bar/lounge
Good view from room, spacious dining area and bar, convenient location for station and town centre, helpful reception staff. No complaints
View from the room window Good size of rooms Pool The pillows were flimsy - not of good quality. Only 2 lightweight pillows for a double bed.
Lovely room with lake view, even though hotel was fully booked never felt crowded, plenty of space in lounges etc. Plus point was the car park - last time we stayed 40 years ago, no parking so was a nightmare finding somewhere to park! This time they even offered for us to leave the car still parked after we checked out so we could make a trip on the lake before we returned home. Just a shame we didnt have time to use the Spa & pool - last time the pool was actually outside! Just one comment - obviously not checked that the toiletries & milk were " topped up" when cleaning the room after previous occupants
The ambiance ,location and views
The confort of the bedroom and the swimmingpool. The reception staff were very helpful. We had no problems.
The aspect of the Hotel was breathtaking, all the staff were polite , helpful , presentable and a credit to the hotel. The food and restaurant service were excellent,as were the bedrooms and housekeeping .No. No.
the premises was clean and the beds were very comfortable, staff were rude/unpleasant to you in the presence of other guests without the slightest care , i find this embarrassing and unacceptable for a hotel of such status
The location, the staff & the service were all briliant The bedroom was far too warm at night, despite turning the radiator off we had to have the window wide open and then there was much noise from ouside so we did not sleep very well.
the morning view over the lake - priceless
view , location and room was lovely
Excellent new swimming pool restaurant prices
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well as very professional. Nothing was too much trouble and all seemed to enjoy their work. Very pleasant atmosphere in the hotel as a result. Difficult for us to make wi-fi connection with our iPad. Meant we had to go to Costa Coffee nearby for an awful coffee when we would have preferred to sit in lounge at hotel to use it.
Lovely room, situation, food good, but hotel very full due to coach parties
ideal location for Bowness centre and lake windermere, sports facilities excellent, staff very helpful. can't think of anything, in fact we would stay here again.
Helpful and pleasant staff. Indecision on whether eating was to continue in the bar areas - and announced at short notice.
Liked the easy relaxing setting of the hotel in general, the room was clean and the staff was very welcoming, perfectly located for Bowness. Would stay here again.
Being able to use the leisure facilities.
The staff were excellent providing a friendly, helpful service The main reception/lounge areas were pretty cold - however it was -7 outside! Disappointed that the promised log fires were not available as this would have made a pre-Christmas break more festive somehow
relaxing atmosphere lighting was dull and detracted from decor in public areas
Our room was very big with a lovely view of lake district. Very close to the lake and boats and the shops/resturants.
The setting was very picturesque which complimented the excellent bar and terracing areas. The room was very clean. Ample car parking facilities. The breakfast service seemed much improved from a previous visit. The bath water was luke warm. A duvet would be much prefered to sheets.
The location was excellent a couple of minutes from the steam boat jetty, and the building and rooms were spacious. The leisure centre was very good. The breakfast was completely substandard given the quality of the hotel. Limited choice, no fresh fruit despite being there at the hight of the summer and the cooked breakfast was very greasy (we were unable to eat it). Also, the room had few extras: e.g. we had to ask for tissues, there was nothing in the bathroom except for shampoo and shower gel. The Hotel obviously has a problem with staff turnover, since some were obviously inexperienced. Even though the rate was heavily discounted, we did not feel it represented good value for money. It is a shame, because with a little extra attention to detail and a decent breakfast the hotel could be really first class.
The Station is a busy Hotel/pub good atmosphere, good food and comfortable rooms.
Friendly helpful staff and the quality of the food, both dinner and breakfast, selections of beers was also good.
Traditional local pub with friendly atmosphere. Quiet accommodation with all mod cons and easy car parking. Good food and real ales.
The room was spacious, and the food in the attached inn was excellent.
All staff were very courteous and friendly - couldn't do enough to help. Nice, cosy place, handy for all tourist sites. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Clean, spacious, courteous staff. Manager handled a mini-crisis (my son got sick after dinner) with understanding. We had booked a family room but were instead given a double with a cot (although not identified as such.) At 6'2" my son is too big for a cot. It broke within minutes of being set up. Only after my request did we receive a reduced rate on the room (to the more appropriate double rate). We were not informed that reserved tables in the restaurant were for hotel guests and so we went to the the bar for dinner. It would have been nice to have been told so we could have dined with the other guests. Staff told us the minigolf required only a deposit for the clubs. The manager, instead, charged a rental fee.
Staff considerate and helpful.
Very good value. Excellent size of room. Excelent breakfast None
The location met our requirements as we were meeting friends. The staff were helpful in providing electric heating as the room was cold when we arrived.Overall a good weekend.
Friendly, attentive staff, and great food
Please write at least 15 words , big rooms, lovley location, helpfull staff. Poor TV no bbc1 during my stay missed my fav program, high standerds but I was very surpriesd to see wallpaper falling of the wall at room 54
The communal areas of the hotel were very atractive, the staff were very helpful and the view of Windermere from the hotel were beautiful. The hotel looks very old fashioned from the road, I was wishing I had booked somewhere else after seeing it for the first time, however this changed once we got inside. The room we were in had extremely thin walls, we could here everything in the next room. I also hadn't realised how far away from the town the hotel was, and as the bus service is not great around the hotel area (a fact that is mentioned in the info pack in the hotel room) it meant taking the car out each day and paying a small fortune in the car parks.
The ambience of the lounge and restaurant overlooking the lake was superb. The breakfast was very nice. I was very disappointed after staying in many other hotels not as expensive as the beech hill with the size and decor of the room.I paid for my friends a night away with us for a wedding present but really was not impressed with the room. £150 for bed and breakfast was extortionate.I expected really nice rooms with a luxurious feel. Unfortunately we didnt get this.I had read on reviews similar comments but i always like to give places a chance.
The views from the room were fantastic over windemere Our room could have done with a little re-decorating as the wallpaper was chipped in places and the fan made a loud noise when turned on in the bathroom until you gave it a "light" tap.
We were well treated, the staff were helpful and approachable. A good quality hotel and we would stay there again.
the evening meal was excellent and excellent service our room had obviously previously been a smoking room. There was a strong smell of ciggarettes which let the room down badly. And the bathroom was far too small for the size of the bedroom.
Location, Style Price
food and other service none
The room was lovely with stunning views of the Cumbrian mountain range and lake Windemere. Hotel is well situated for walking. The pool area was very nice and it would be even better if in the colder months the floor to ceiling glass were wiped of condensation so that the views could be seen from the pool in the winter. A small touch that would make a big difference to guests.
Staff in restaurant were very good as was the breakfast Parking was appalling on check-in no one appeared for some minutes despite repeated rings and then was quite disinterested in us as customers
Quiet location in the town centre Some public transport information at reception would have been handy.
Room was clean, staff helpful and welcoming No internet, lift not working,no parking, although I had booked 2 rooms at same time it took a long time to locket the second room although it was under my name
Rooms and bed very good Food in restaurant over priced and awful
Efficient check in. Clean, modern room. Comfy bed. Decent tv. None
The boiled egg Fabric Headboards - not hygenic. Poor bedroom furniture -lots of marks and scratches
All staff really helpful and friendly. Loved our room and the pool. Special thanks to Sarah and Louise and the waiters at breakfast on sun 21/11/10.
The location. Staff were helpful. Needs re-decorating, though there has been an attempt with new carpets- the whole place needs doing!
The staff were friendly, and the rooms comfortable, the food was also very good There was some confusion as to the sevice at dinner and we had to wait a very long time to find out about the way it worked and then to get our order taken
Lovely room, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good, planty of choice
Great reception, friendly staff generally, good location.
The breakfast was good - lots of choice . Good powerful shower. Battered furniture in the room, the room was far too small for a four poster bed! Thin walls you could hear everything on the corridor outside.
the staff were very accomodating; even though we had booked dinner for 20.00 they said we could take our seats at any time
The food & service was very good. Pool good for relaxing after a day's walking.
The breakfasts. We didn't like the size of the shower cubicle and temperature of the water.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast excellent. Difficult to get into car park, tight parking, but at least there was one.
Comfortable lounge with games for children to play. Convenient location for walking, pubs and restaurants.
Extremely friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble. Close to centre of town. Would have liked a bath rather than a shower.
Excellent accomadation, pleasant staff and good food with reasonable bar prices.
service was excellent, very friendly staff. quality breakfast. it was a bit tricky getting in and out of the car park.
staff were very good and it is in a good location.
Pleasant staff, the furnishing were nice. The bed was really uncomfortable: I could feel every spring in the mattress. The establishment presents itself as a 4* (and charges correspondingly) so an even an average bed is a reasonable expectation. I think there may also have been mold growing on the bathroom ceiling where there had been some water damage that had never been properly fixed. Just not what I'd really expect for the money paid, even in a somewhat pricey district.
very nice hotel. and very good loction.
Good and clean, and polite staff An option for dinner or takeout should be available, even if it is a sandwich bar
Clean, comfortable room. Friendly owner. Fairly good breakfast. Bathroom was quite small.
Very nice hotel, lovely and clean, the bed was very comfortable. Nice food and friendly service. Would go back again. No bad points
The hotelier was very pleasant, the hotel was extremely comfortable and the cleanliness was to a high standard. The breakfast was very good and next time I stay in Bowness I would definitely stay there again.
Room was clean and warm and all facilities were in good order. Breakfast was very hot and very tasty and Mr Morris seemed to make a very big effort to ensure everyone was served with the breakfast they wanted. Don't have any bad points really.
lovely rm. Breakfast excellant, friendly people , excellant restuarants down the road. loved our anniverssary break , highly reccomend , Martin and Maria made our anniversary nice, even suprised us with a bigger room.Thankyou , would def stay again.
The ower made a very enuine attempt to make us welcome Parking was cramped but adequate
Friendly people, lovely room, excellent stay, None
Excellent location, beautiful views!! Room slightly dated.
the room was beautiful as was the rest of the hotel, ideal location just minutes walk from everything. a really pleasurable stay!
the room was really nice. bed was really comfortable. power shower was excellent. at breakfast the service seemed very rushed and we did not feel relaxed during breakfast. continental breakfast was a croissant
Staff helpful and friendly.Breakfast beautifully cooked. Rooms and bedlinen newly reburbished; fresh and clean. Noise of extractor fans below our window woke us earlier than we would have liked. Wiring and shelving in alcove in dining room looked a bit 'Heath Robinson!'
Reasonable tarrif and easy access to town centre Dated decor, also difficult to plug in kettle due to acces to power point behind table unit.deep bath therfore for an older person not easy to get in and out, grab handle needed
The staff were friendly and welcomed us on arrival. They also gave us useful info on Kendal and surroundings.
location Xmas being celebrated at breakfast on 20th November. Difficulty of parking car locally. Decoration harks back to a bygone age.
Simon was lovely and accomodated us well ! The hotel was in a great location and did us great for what were needing . Room was a little grubby in places dirty cups shower wasnt cleaned great .
The helpfulness and efficiency of the staff Our double bed was a little on the small side
good room poor parking
Central location Room rather shabby and cold
Good value, fairly central location in Kendal. Friendly helpful staff. Bit faded - not a problem for me - terrible breakfast coffee! (instant? very weak). But reasonably good value for money.
Overcharged for poor continental breakfast when there was a Little Chef restaurant right outside the hotel. Hotel not willing to refund breakfast. Very poor service.
It was quiet, warm and comfy. A spider
a very comfortable ovenight stop
Very convenient for the business we did in Kendel
Great views Location if northbound !
It was fine. The room was comfortable, warm enough, and quite quiet. The location is why I chose it, because the lakeside view is good. Unfortunately I only had a view of the car park. The room is good value for couples and families, but for a widow such as I it is not that cheap. The tiling round the bath was black near the edge of the bath and at the point where shower water normally hits the tiles. I am pretty sure thqt it was "clean" but it fifn't look very good. A toothbrush and some bleach would have helped.
Staff were very welcoming & gave excellent information about the immediate area, questions were answered promtly & politely . Slight misunderstanding about the room booking , I thought I had booked a Double room on line(it was the first time I had made a booking on line), but when I arrived I was initially given a Twin room, but when I went back to reception the swap to Double was made immediatally & without any fuss :)
Very easy hotel to find and use Food on offer was a little poor for a late arival
Very convenient location and much better deal than Westmoreland a few miles north.
Friendly check in No WiFi. Broken Very poor food at the RadChef next door.
