Everything about this hotel is just wonderful! Our stay was a dream come true. The medievel palace Smekja is the most beautiful in Perast, and this is where we had our breakfast. Best seabass I have ever tasted!
The staff are excellent.
Nothing. It was perfect.
Wonderful hotel in the heart of UNESCO Heritage List town of Perast. Great comfort and attention to detail in this truly luxury hospitality place. Rooms, service (check-in and -out, bellboys, housekeeping, Maitre d' and breakfast service team) and food (both the breakfast as well as the restaurant for lunch and dinner) were exceptional, however some improvement could be made on the pool/ sunbed area as well as for the bar service at the pool (no ice cubes and lemon slices with drinks despite explicitly requesting it from the waiter). This is basic stuff that marks down the place from a 10 out of 10.
Some rooms at the ground floor of the annex buildings lack basic privacy; the pool/ sunchairs/ access to the sea area is below the 5* standards. For instance, the sunbed area closest to the sea access is too crowded, less sunchairs with more space between them should be privileged.
Beautiful facilities, spacious rooms, nice pool area with easy access to the water, and great breakfast!
I would have given this hotel a 10, but we had a few issues with service in the pool area and at breakfast. On a whole, the team was excellent - just not as attentive as we’d expect (asked for drinks and were told a waiter would come by but they never showed up - this happened a few times). Bed was also a bit too firm for me.
Location Pretty little town of Perast, beautiful views of the bay and the surrounding mountains! Room Nice quiet room with good mattress, various pillows, nespresso coffee machine, shower and bath. Our room had a small outside space with sunbeds, a table and even an outdoor shower. It was nice to spend some time there with a book. Staff Helpful staff, the receptionists always listened and made good suggestions for trips etc. We had a nice boat trip to the nearby Bajova Kula beach at the suggestion of the concierge, although it did cost us 65 euros for the boat transfer, taxi back and 4 sunbeds with umbrellas. Spa The massage therapists were good, from Bali, and gave us a good massage. Good indoor pool, sauna, steam room.
Overall the hotel was good, but for a true 5 star hotel it lacks attention to detail. Food Breakfast was so-so, the cooked food options weren't up to standard we found. Scrambled eggs were watery, "tomato salsa" in the menu happened to be just one cherry tomato slices in half. Dinner was mediocre and we opted to eat elsewhere for the rest of the week - there are a few other places with better menus. Room service options are limited, and even those are not always available. The bread in the sandwiches was a bit burned, the potato crisps overcooked. Spa The oil used for the massage at the spa has a cheap chemical aroma of citrus I think, not what I expected when I chose the "aromatherapy massage". The beach The hotel is doing what it can in terms of providing "the beach experience", considering that there is no beach to speak of. The pool by the sea was too cold we found, but overall it is better than nothing. The sea There is a distinct smell of the sewage coming from the sea in Perast, the locals admit that they do have a sewage issue in the area, which they plan to resolve next year. Very few people venture to swim there and for good reason. Overall this is not a good choice of a hotel if you wish to have a seaside holiday. It could work for a romantic weekend though, if you don't expect to swim in the sea. Summer bugs Apparently there are lots of stomach summer bugs in the area - my husband got one on the last day which wasn't very nice at all. Bring lots of hand sanitizer and be careful.
