The pools are filled with Hot natural water every day, and were great to swim in. Breakfast was fast, and tasty - home cooked, cabins were fine, jungle and the flowers and nature all around were great.
its a little off the highway, the road was a bit bumpy, unpaved, so you have to take it a little slower. would be nice to have a kettle in the room for boiling hot water for tea.
The breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast, fruit and great coffee in an outdoor setting was a positive Costa Rican experience. When the owner took fruit to an area near the pool to attract/feed local birds, the flourish of feathers felt endless... for quite a while. Colorful tanagers, blue birds, thrushes, woodpeckers and local peacocks flocked to the area, and hummingbirds kept visiting all of the many floral offerings throughout the property. The owners' son shares a positive approach to questions, and his mother cooks, then cares for the colorful grounds with great passion. Her husband and another son take care of 80 cows, goats, chickens and other animals on adjoining property. On any other non-overcast day, you would have an up-close view of the Arenal volcano from your seat in the warm pool.
Here are a few things to help boost your ratings: - Enlarge the signage lettering at your entrance. Consider solar-powered lighting to make your sign visible at night. - Level the gravel road to your location; no one with low-clearance cars will return if you don't do this. - Include washcloths and soap in rooms; more light would help, and better seating would help. - Cable needs more "English" stations, esp during your peak season; grainy video needs improved. - Offer families a unique milk farm experience with your cows; maybe let them pick up eggs for breakfast. - Feature in your ads how you attract colorful, local birds not seen in other locations. - Either confirm that you have actual "hot springs" water or drop it from your name. - If you WANT more tourists to visit you, learn more English/other languages, to make them feel welcome upon arrival. - Do NOT change your passion for nature.
We loved the view from the pool, the hot spring water, the birds and breakfast. It was e exactly what we wanted.
The property has 4 pools that have real clean hot spring water in them. One is slightly more private, one is full sized, one slopes for wheelchair access, and one is for children. They are amazing and have well maintained bathrooms/showers nearby. This is a family owned business so you see the owners pets coming around, two dogs, and apparently a couple of peacocks too?! This location is perfect if you want to feel among the animals. Local birds and lizards pop up in the trees and you have an amazing view of the volcano when the air is clear. Saw toucans, lizards, and all sorts of tropical birds right from the pool! If you have the Uber app you can call a ride into town (like 10 minutes) for $2-$3 or they can call you a taxi. There also is a public bus that is accessible if you’re standing by the road at the right time. We tried it once; it’s a white kind of shuttle van that you pay $2-3 to ride into town. Will include a photo of the public bus schedule as one of the photos of anyone is interested.
It is a family owned business so for better or worse they really kind of leave you alone. Only Alberto, the owner’s son speaks any English so if you need to communicate anything it can be a little difficult if he’s not around. I think they they assume that you already know what you want to see in La Fortuna or assume you know how to get there as it seemed difficult to figure out how to go places without a car... One time we needed to call a taxi and couldn’t find anyone to help us call one. Instead we used Uber which turned out alright. My biggest suggestion would be that Alberto maybe has a work whatsapp number that he provides in case of any issues. We didn’t have any kind of major issue but we were wondering what we would even do if let’s say the toilet broke or something. We wouldn’t know what to do.
The hotspring pools were nice but small, and this was about the only nice thing about this hotel for this price. The room was clean but very noisy (thin walls so you could hear everything and on saturday a nearby club was loud).
The personnel was unfriendly and hard to find when needed. Note that a lot of buses leave at 8 am but they are unwilling to provide any breakfast before 8. The bugscreens were broken so there were bugs in the room. At a certain point, the water supply was cut off. The light flickered. In the room the wifi signal was weak.
