Good looking place, great location, good food options in the area, super friendly staff Beds could've been more comfortable, especially the pillows. You can tell they cheaped out on a lot of things like breakfast but I would definitely stay there again
Close to shopping centers and food joints. Asked for a king and they gave us two queens. Dirty sheets. Not enough towels
For one, the hotel looked very nice from the outside. They were currently doing some renovations to accommodate disabled guests, so I can't knock them for that. The actual room itself looked nice. The color scheme, the furniture choices, the vanity sink. The bathroom was kind of a cool open concept. Though the look was cohesive, it did seem pretty outdated. Also, there was still a stain on the sheet on the bed, the toilet still had some dry urine stains under the seat, and the cap that covers the plumbing for the shower head was coming off.
Location was convenient to attend a wedding surroundings were clean and all stores close to the hotel for last minute shopping The entrance doors need to be updated as critters were able to crawl in which can be scary to some occupants we only noticed it in the morning of our departure but overall it was a reasonable price for our stay.
the grounds were beautiful and the staff was pleasant. I would stay there again. tried to stay an additional night, unable to keep the same room and would not be able to pay the same orbitz rate, this I understood BUT i was told I had to check out at 11 and could not check into my new room until 3 I HAD JUST STAYED 3 NIGHTS! but couldn't transfer?
This lodge is like an oasis in a desert. The room was very quiet, the courtyard was lovely, and I slept wonderful. The internet was good, and there was a small fridge, microwave and safe in the room. They also provide a small, simple breakfast. I recommend this lodge.
The staff was very nice. I missed "check in" by a few hours because I was exploring. But the staff insured me I had no worries and could check in at anytime! Room was clean, beds were so soft! The hotel itself was amazingly beautiful a cottage feel. I have never been to a hotel that had to give you vouchers for the breakfast kinda weird but not a deal breaker.
Close to where we had a out of town job Friendly staff Clean Only a Continental breakfast Room decor is a buy dated
Staff is very friendly and helpful. It's not the fanciest place, but it is clean and affordable. In a good area, close to lots of restaurants and shops.
Beds where nice
Location close to Heisler Park and within walking distance of downtown. Nice outdoor facilities too. No
It was quaint, parking was available, it was close to downtown. Minor- the bathroom needed a fan to help with the moisture and the wall plugs needed to be tighter to hold my phone charging plug.
I love the location. Very close to the beach, restaurants, Ocean Ave. gas station, market. Also, I love the post card. It's a great way to remember the name and location. I sent 12 cards to my family and friends. The heated pool and fireplace was relaxing
Great value and location. Wish there was a hot tub.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
closer to the park and beach than i anticipated, and an easy walk to restaurants traffic noise is almost unbearable. otherwise, minor: garbage behind the night stand, a bulb burned out, smokers by the pool.
Independent hotel; cool location; affordable. Laguna Beach is a fun but pricey town. The hotel recommended Madison Square and Gardens Cafe for breakfast and it was great. This hotel is right across the street from a very nice public beach and about 3/4 of a mile from the main strip of shops and galleries and restaurants. They very nicely let us borrow beach toys after it was technically check-out time. Soft fluffy bath towels. 24-hour front desk. Good parking. The person staffing the front desk when we arrived did not acknowledge I was waiting in front of him until he was darn good and ready. The person he was training did, so I knew I wasn't actually invisible. Until he finally greeted me, I honestly couldn't tell if he knew I was there even though I was about two feet in front of him. That was weird and off-putting to start. No fan or other ventilation in the bathroom; the room was like a sauna all day and night even with the AC on. Everything felt sort of clammy. The room seemed more grubby than artsy. Decorative pillows piled on the bed were not appealing, just made me wonder how often those covers got laundered. No accessible electrical outlet by the beds; didn't realize how much I missed that until I couldn't have it. Crumpled up info sheet on the desk in the room said to see hotel map on the other side, but the map was gone. The window did not seem to lock.
The hotel is blocks away from the beach and across be street from the Laguna Beach trolley. The hotel's art work is really cool and we really enjoyed the private balcony the room had. The hotel proprietors seemed a little bit unfocused and honestl a bit worn out. While we were checking in RJ was very helpful with walking a through the local maps, but had to be prompted to give us out room keys. Checking out it seemed as if the woman at the front desk was going through a route script of phrases rather than being genuinely hospitable. Also, the term "ocean view" for the room we booked may be a bit of an overstatement. Yes, you could see the ocean from across Pacific Coast Drive when you stood up on the private balacony, but that was about it. Not a big deal, but I guess we expected more of a view given that the name was labeled as ocean view.
The rooms are good size - we had a group of 14 in three rooms (4 were small children) and with 2 queen beds and a hide-a-bed in each room we were comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is not a luxury hotel - but very clean and family-oriented! Close to the beach and art galleries and eating places.
I needed a place to start over and landed here. Gail, the owner, was very helpful in giving me a room. She offers rooms in a variety of sizes and they were more than adequate for my needs. Gail runs the property and knows Laguna very well - she is always available to help out and Isis, a member of her staff, was great at pointing out local food and activities. It can be a little challenging finding your room if you're on an upper floor. The space outside one floor had a water spill.
Very affordable for Laguna Beach. Customer service excellent. The location is great, right across the street from beach. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Continental Breakfast from 7:30-10:30 (Cereal, pastries, yogurt, coffee, juices). Room was clean. All in all, great place to stay. Definitely will again. Nothing I didn't like.
The location was perfect, as we were in town for a wedding that was down the street. Decent continental breakfast and coffee. The staff were incredibly rude: chatting on the phone without an indication they would help us, no flexibility for an early check-in despite having vacancy (we had a wedding to get to that afternoon), little interest in making accommodations (seemed annoyed when we asked for suggestions on what to do with our hour before check-in). One of the staff members indicated that it was a crazy day, and unfortunately, we were there to be the recipient of her poor customer service
Very quaint. Great location but too much traffic noise. Didn't quiet down until mid nite. Way too much traffic noise.
Was pleasantly surprised to find a fridge and microwave in the room. The staff was friendly and efficient. I received the wifi password w/o having to ask for it, which is always a good thing. The only complaint I had was the peeling paint and other damage to the wall in the bathroom/shower area.
Good location if you have a car. Some reviews say parking lot is small but it's fine. Saw trucks parked in some spots. Friendly staff. Good price. Basic room but has fridge and microwave. Ok bed. Outdoor pool. My room was clean. Iron available at front desk. No alarm clock in room. One small table bolted to wall. WiFi ok for basic websites but streaming was not that good.
The hotel was super clean and quiet. The front desk did not have anyone there when I arrived but I only had to wait about 5 minutes. The room I stayed in had one bed and was small.
The flooring The room needs some over head lighting.
I called Motel 6 directly and asked to book a queen room as advertised on Kayak. The operator told me that this location did not have queen beds at all. I took my chances and booked a queen room through Kayak. Upon arrival, I let the front desk know what the operator said about their rooms. The attendant upgraded my room from a queen to King and let me know all about their rooms. It's was really nice!
clean, super friendly staff, room was very beautiful, bed was comfortable, easy to access Absolutely nothing!
Newly remodeled rooms and the guest were quiet Parking lot always full
The room was quoted for a good price for the area We purchased a Queen room on line and the manager/owner put us in a room with a double bed. When we brought this to his attention he said he was sold out -- take it or leave it. Later I heard another clerk offer a two double bed room to a new customer (so the manager/owner lied to us prior, as well as trying to sneak us into a lower level/ smaller room than we paid for) Ultimately, he unhappily moved us to the larger room when we found out the truth. Also, our room was right on Newport Bld. and very exposed to loud cars and a drunk guy that wandered off the street and knocked on our door - which we didn't answer.
I chose the Bay Shores Peninsula on a whim, and boy was that a good gamble! The place is really quaint, staff is amazingly kind and attentive, and our room was perfect. There's not a lot of space in the rooms that goes to waste, nice sized closet with small fridge and safe, bathroom clean and well appointed, they even had a little nook turned into a dressing table for us ladies, complete with plugs and a coffeemaker. Good TV plus on demand channels and a wall of DVD movies in the lobby you can borrow. The rooftop lounge area is perfect for morning coffee or evening wine. The breakfast buffet was nice, quite a few choices and good coffee to boot. Plus they make fresh cookies every day, I mean really, it's like visiting family. Parking was a little lacking because there is construction happening, but that is truly out of their control and the staff helps out with that piece as much as they can. We will definitely be back!
The Bay Shore Peninsula Hotel is probably the friendless hotel we have ever stayed at, if not #1 it's tied for #1. Extremely convenient to the beach, shopping, dozens of restaurants and whatever you might need are probably within walking distance.
The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Checked out at 6:45 in the morning, and the only thing available for breakfast was coffee.
The rooms were just okay... It's simply a renovated Ramada Inn. The shower head is on the ceiling... With that said if your hair is straighten or you're African-American and not necessarily inclined to get ur hair wet this is not the hotel for u. It's impossible to shower in an overhead shower without getting hair wet while wearing those cheap transparent shower caps. The front desk clerk didn't seem to understand my issue... Perhaps because she wore long curly hair... I assume that's why she didn't empathize
Nice decor. About 20 min drive from disneyland and 20 min from huntington. Clean interior.
Bathrooms need updating,
I liked how when I got there, the woman at the front desk was very nice. She was also accomodating for us to be in the farthest back room away from the demo that they had goong on. We ended up booking for a couple more days and then after for a couple after we stayed with family for a night. The room was cool, modern and very clean. The rooms are accessed from the outside, which is always a plus to me to not have to walk through a huge building. The pool and jacuzzi were nice and clean. I liked the overall modern look of the hotel and would stay here again in the future. There really wasn't anything that I could find that wasn't up to par for this type of hotel. I was very satisfied.
My room was very dark and dingy
The modern clean look No Complaints
It was modern in decoration Smelled, tv didnt work, toilet broke and leaked all over the bathroom
Rooms were very clean Pillows are not very comfortable
when we checked in hotel had not received payment from you and took us 20 minutes to get set up which was a not good as we were rushing to a dinner party.
Bed was new rooms were remodeled
I like the cleanliness of the room, friendly staff and felt very safe.
Convenient location. Basic room for a decent price. Handicapped accessible room had a deep whirlpool tub and no roll in shower. Carpet could use a deep cleaning.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and comfortable big and roomy
The room was much nicer than what we would have expected for a Super 8: clean, spacious, quiet. Breakfast was great, including waffles, bagels, toast, cereal, pastries, oatmeal, and yogurt. Check in and check out was quick, though somebody does come up to inspect the room during checkout, so make sure you are completely ready to go.
Pet friendly And nice area. Close to stores restaurant and park. Cockroaches and ants got into the dog food.
I ask for a easy access and they gave me a handicap room the room with 2 bed was very reduce in space, old furniture, no dresser, no free wifi i wish i could say you get wat you pay for but in pay 84dlls per night so it was not cheap, i have pay lower rates in other cities and way better service with continental breakfast so NOT STAYING HERE AGAIN
Convenient, inexpensive, quick booking, location, quiet, bouncy beds, clean room, great remodel. Scratchy towels. No shampoo.
The location was good and the room decor looked modern. The parking lot was large so it was easy to find a spot. There were a lot of food choices nearby. The beds were uncomfortable and squeaked every time you moved, the wood floors were really dirty - within 10 minutes of walking on the floor with white socks the bottoms were black. There were dead bugs in the corners and live bugs at night. The AC didn't work very well. The bedding sheets were rough and the blankets were paper thin. The shower trickled out water and the shower heads were really low - even for me and I'm 5'5.
The room was clean, remodeled, hardwood floors, and really a great value for the price. Front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Lots of restaurants in walking distance and a gas station next door. About 5-10 minutes from newport beach, 20 minutes from Anaheim convention center and disneyland. Double bed room is small. Beds are close to side walls. Still a great room and would stay here again.
Goo customer service Wss a none smoking area and it smelled like smoke, towels horrible, rough and hard. Not enough parking area. Too expensive for the horrible hotel
The motel was clean and comfortable. It is no frills, but quite respectable.
Liked color scheme and that the hotel was renovated. The pool was in good condition. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The location is very convenient to shopping, By the highway and the coast. The neighborhood is nice. Did not sleep very well.. Pillows were very flat And cheap. Toilet was not working properly. Shower head was ideal for midgets.
Great customer service Lots of hair underneath bed and on floor
Staying with my boyfriend, we wanted a cheap place close to the beach. For a motel, it was in good shape and was all we needed for our few nights. Rooms were tiny, but had everything we needed and were comfortable. Wood floors made it seem more modern, and the simplicity was nice. The bed was comfortable and it seemed nice and clean. Ten minute drive from Huntington Beach was easy and free parking is a plus! I am picky when it comes to showers, and the nozzle was low and I didn't have enough towels. After being at the beach, it was hard to rinse my hair out, but it did not effect my overall comfort level of my stay. Still an awesome cheap hotel.
Location, it caters to the beach, eateries, pertty much everything in Newport. My Wife and I are always out and about when we are in CA. So all we need is a room to sleep. Don't need a pool because the beach is walking distance. Don't need breakfast because you have all sorts of selection of great food around you. Don't need an gym because you can cruise on a bike or take a walk/run on the beach. Best fits our needs Because it's on the main Blvd, noise can be an issue. I'm guessing depend on which room you are in. Do have firm beds, which I prefer but the wife didn't. Personal preference I guess
Convenient to have bikes to borrow on site. Breakfast could have had more variety & to have somewhere to sit & enjoy breakfast / trays to take food to your room to eat on the lovely balcony would have been an advantage.
