the hotel was excellent. no pool table, the bar was very expensive, the menu didnt have much choice.
price Would be good to have a gym
everything was outstanding non smoking
The good sized rooms, the quietness and the attentive staff. The food was also excellent and beautifully presented. The restaurant was very quiet while we were there and we felt it lacked atmosphere. Maybe this improves when there are more guests.
Spacious Room not very nice sausage at breakfast ,otherwise food excellent
very nice contempory surroundings excellent food
The hotel was modern & comfortable with good food The breakfast I believe could have been better if it were cooked to order not buffet style. This would be my only suggestion for improvement.
The staff were very friendly, the hotel was stunning the food was perfect and i would definalty recommend this to anyone going to Gretna Green.
Contemporary hotel, fantastic food (best steak ever!), very friendly & helpful staff Couldn't find the mini-bar!
location, bar, food, maybe, more staff or a little more experienced
Good all round, no complaints
nil, mybe itis quitte the break fast you have to pay 4.95 just for crosson and butter or 8 pounds for lettel bet more.
cleanliness of room and helpful staff
No bad points
should have a bar
very comfy bed The mould on the windows and bedding for which I am contacting environmental health with regards to - staff at the hotel were told not to change the mouldy curtains until new windows had been fitted
I was so pleased I could have my dog with me during my stay. A bit noisy with guests who arrived late at night or leaving early. Should maybe reminded guests could be sleeping!
We liked the welcome of the staff and the standard of the room given to us. The dog was very welcomed too. The only useful thing would have been clearer information that it was so easy to access from the southboard.
Easy to book in and room facilities good Quite noisy from the M6 traffic
Hotel ok,main eating area filthy full of flies walked out very unhygienic! Uncovered food. Hotel was ok
The staff are always very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable, well decorated and clean. We particularly love the views over the lake and this is always our first choice place to stay when visiting family in England. Would be good to have more teabags etc in the room (although these were freely given when we returned to reception to ask) and a few biscuits would be very welcoming after a long journey. Breakfast in the service station is good but some more information on the discount system and children's free breakfast would be helpful. After eating a cold breakfast my husband had a discussion with the restaurant staff and only then discovered that instead of having to take our breakfast all in one go to get the discount, we could have been given a voucher to go back and collect our cooked breakfast from the counter after we had eaten our cereal. Also the discount only covers a value of up to £10 and then you pay for the extras. The children's free breakfast was confusing - again after breakfast we discovered that this is for three items off the menu. We ended up paying considerably more for our breakfast than we expected and we ate it cold because we weren't informed that we could collect the cooked breakfast later.
Very friendly receptionist and free WiFi. Poor quality breakfast and although WiFi was free it was unreliable.
Clean large room Had to wait outside to checkin which took 50 mins !
Super view over a lake from the bedroom window. Balcony there also for the summer weather. Clean. Ample parking. Ample parking - but beware ! Without a "permission to park" voucher on your car dashboard, the services parking warden will issue you with an £80 parking fine whilst you sleep in your bed ! Reception at the hotel assure you they will be able to get the fine revoked - we still await the outcome of our overnight stay with baited breath. Water drained too slowly from the bathroom sink.
An excellent one night stop over for a visit to/from Scotland, with excellent service from the receptionist. Although part of the motorway services, no road noise from our room at the back which had beautiful views overlooking the lake.
Disappointed to pay full price when all around were adverts for £25 per room. Staff were not interested.Cafe next door advertised two meals for £10 but did not have most of the items on the menu, no alternative to chips, no hot drinks, only cold drinks available were sprite or small bottles.
Room and proximity to motorway Breakfast in services using voucher sold from hotel.. Breakfast very expensive and we were charged twice for cooked breakfast when only had one.. Also it was not clear what the kids eat free meant and conseqiently we had to pay a considerable extra amount for a childs breakfast. . because of the above we we charged a further 13£ on top of the breakfast voucher cost.. We have been making this stop for many years now and has been good value until this year.
The location but relies on this too much The room and bathroom smelt very musty on arrival ; heating was erratic ;couldnt use the shower as the shower head was so unstable it sprayed the whole bathroom
Very quick check in with friendly helpful staff and comfortable clean room. Thank you.
The staff were very pleasant and the service was good. The food in the restaurant and breakfast was good. The room was not very big and the finishing to some of the decor was poor ie ripped wallpaper, wonky headboard, unfinished grouting in the on suite, double wardrobe with only one door in use and back panel falling off.
Comfortable and quiet. Bar facilities OK. Breakfast excellent Expected more for price. Evening meal barely adequate very old fashioned. Could not get a member of staff to leave key with when checking out
Room was agood size and very clean Wife turned up for breakfast at 09.05 and was told it was finished at 09.00. She was not offered anything not even coffee
Very clean, staff were very helpful. Good breakfast. Cost for one night stay for a double room quite expensive
Location was very convenient. Food good. En- suite was excellent with a good shower. Friendly and efficient staff. Off road parking. Bedroom slightly 'musty' smell, and seemed as if it had been 'sprayed' to mask the ambience. Bed itself was too firm for our comfort.
the freindly serves of the staff
A very run down hotel in need of a major overhaul. rather a soul less place.
Very friendly atmosphere, good choice of food on menu and staff very helpfull. The only thing that wasnt 100% to our liking was the bed was a little on the hard side. We also heard a few other guests comment on this at breakfast. It didnt ruin our stay but if the bed had been a little softer the stay would have been perfect.
attention to detail in the room
Location, quality and price
second time we have stayed at this hotel, excellent staff who could,nt do enough for us,beautiful countryside, makes an excellent stopover on the way to edinburgh.
high standard of room comfort disappointed with the poor selectoin of available food on offer
good location the beds not big enough and no duvets
Staff very friendly. Food at dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Bacon at breakfast was a bit overcooked.
Staff were very approachable and attentive. Dinner was excellent.
The staff were very helpful The heating in the bedroom was ineffective and after asking for an improvement nothing seemed to happen
food room very cold on arrival
The room was comfortable.
Very nice hotel which I would recommend. The receptionist could not have been more helpful. Very enjoyable evening meal. Cooked breakfast could be served 30 minutes earlier for business guests and the room I had was an adjoining room and the man coughing next door sounded like he was in my room. However these points apart I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
