There was complimentary a complimentary wine bottle which I wasn't expecting so that was a pleasant surprise. Sitting on the verandah gave be a pristine view of the forest nearby. Loved the variety of birds in the compound and their early morning chirping! The bed was super comfortable. Its the perfect city get way and I will be back again.

Pros: Thank you Betty for our warm welcome and providing such beautiful accommodation for our two night stay in the Coachhouse. The accommodation contains everything you could wish for including comfortable beds with beautiful linen, stocked fridge, lovely fireplace, huge alfresco area, beautiful gardens and walk trails. If I could give this accommodation 6 stars I would. There are also lovely walks in the nearby RJ Hammer Arboretum. It was very cold during our stay in Victoria, however, this enabled us to experience snow at Mt Donna Buang (an hour way from Olinda).
Cons: Nothing:) Just wish we could have stayed another night.

Pros: Fantastic location, just minutes from Olinda main street. Property was larger than expected and great breakfast provided. The property was very cosy, felt right at home immediately.
Cons: The property is hard to fault but it would have been even better if there was a couch/lounge around the wood fireplace instead of a dining set.

A Twist of Willow - Mount Evelyn - Building

9.3 Excellent (260 reviews)

9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely family day trip for my son’s second birthday. My son love the animals and the night tour. Very special experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Twist of Willow is located in a very perfect spot in the middle of Yarra Valley, you can reach easily all the wineries and all the local attractions in no more than 15/20 minutes driving. The place in itself its huge and unbelievable,it is only 40 mins away from Melbourne, there are a lot of rare animals including dingoes, sugar gliders, wombats, kangaroos, owls etc and in the night you have the chance to go with the owner for a nocturnal tour and interact with all of them. We staid in the Queen room with the Spa bath which was pretty amazing. I recommend Twist of Willow to everyone and for sure we will be back in summer time to enjoy also the outdoor swimming pool available!!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere, home away from home. Had a great time and loved all the animals.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The incredibly friendly and professional nature of the owners :)
Cons: Parking :) :) :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Really interesting and lovely surprise
Cons: Perhaps the parking and driveway/entrance was a little bit concerning as we approached the property at night. We just weren't sure what we were coming into. It looked a little creepy at night; but Wow when we did get inside so amazing! Beautifully decorated and when you see what's done with the animal enclosures and the theme it's just fantastic!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Watching the night creatures on the TV was so fantastic! It flips thru automatically and you can watch the wombat (etc). It's like animal planet or nat geographic channel only live.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very comfy Bed and great Spa tub.
Cons: Few items from the breakfast were expired.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We loved all the animals and how well they were taken cared for! Loved seeing the emu’s at the bathroom window each morning and the sound of all the animals at night.
Cons: I felt the room needed to be updated, too much brown and old utensils. I also would have liked nice soap, fresh tea bags, coffee, biscuits, and nicer bedding, fresh towels etc!
4.5 Okay
Pros: The animals and setting was fantastic and the kids really liked that.
Cons: We went with a small family group last Saturday which cost $500 per night and the place wasn't even cleaned. They have a tiny microwave and rules posted literally everywhere. They are strict on no check ins before 2pm and you have to leave at 10am to allow for the cleaner to come in when clearly this hadn't taken place before we arrived. Nuts and other dirt on the floors and hadn't been cleaned. The place was freezing when we arrived and they hadn't put the heat on presumably to save themselves some more money. Other travellers have complained of this also. No travel cots or anything for kids. You can get one for $50. That is a fraction of what we paid for the night. This is indicative of the kind of cost cutting you see around the place. Things were out of date and empty and there hasn't been anything put into it recently. I get the rules for conduct around animals etc. but telling everyone what you expect of them at that pricepoint when there is no oven or basic is a bit rich. They stated the time of the tour would be written at a certain location. We eventually found it and the time wasn't posted. They then showed up to the door to ask if we wanted to go and the kids were already in bed. No proper communication and clearly animal people with no hospitality aptitude whatsoever treating paying customers like an inconvenience. I was really excited to go, but this kind of archaic dictating what you can and can't do is not for me. Won't be back.
5.5 Okay
Cons: To close to a busy road, we had to end our trip early for a family emergency and it would have been nice of them to return our money for the night we couldn't stay

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mountain Lodge is exceptional in every way. The generosity of the hosts and the entire experience was perfect. Mountain Lodge accommodation is so tranquil, luxurious and incredible. We have never stayed in such a place where the generosity shown was so amazing. We loved the delicious afternoon tea of home made muffins and chocolate brownies. The breakfast provisions were abundant and the smokey bacon was exquisite in flavor as well as the home made bread! There was so much food to enjoy along with the warmth of the gas log fire, spa bath, port, chocolates, romantic surroundings and the forest vista. We cannot wait to immerse ourselves in this luxury again. Thank you so much for your care and attention to detail. We were left feeling refreshed, energized and totally spoilt.
Cons: Everything was exquisite and absolute perfection!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place maintained by the wonderful hosts, Julie & Joe. Super cosy downstairs and an even cosier upstairs in the Tasman Suite. The food and freshly baked bread, scones etc. and several condiments and snacks provided were much more than we could ask for. The fridge was loaded with milk, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon and made for the perfect breakfast in the hills.
Cons: Water from the shower tends to flow down along the sides of the bath decking, and it needed to be blocked by a towel dam. Necessary to do so since the bath was inside the room and right next to the bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was amazing! (photos don't do it justice). We wanted to stay a week instead of just one night. The spa is beautiful, the living room (with gas log fire) is really cosy, and there are two balconies for drinking wine and appreciating the gorgeous misty mountain surrounds. The place has everything you need including kitchenware, and lots of lovely extra touches, like chocolates and port, freshly made bread etc, and super soft, dreamy bathrobes. Julie, the host, made us feel really welcome and we were delighted that when we told her we are vegans, she provided us with so many ingredients to make a great vegan brekky. She goes above and beyond. We will absolutely stay here again :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very cute room, amazing staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location and atmosphere and the welcome and ongoing help from the owners. Options for breakfast every day were great. All of the little things such as chocolates just made the stay enjoyable and relaxing.
Cons: The bed was a little hard for my wife, but that is being very picky. Hard to fault.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place exceeded everything we expected and thats saying something when they already have a 9.8 rating. Breakfast was lovely i loved the fact it was all local products and we cooked it our self when we wanted. The owner also baked a loaf of bread the night before and left it for us in the morning, just an incredible touch. We went out for dinner on recommendation from the owners and it was amazing and the restaurant CopperFields could not speak any highly of the place we stayed. Lovely location and so quit and relaxing. 100% would stay again.
Cons: Nothing.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious & amazing
Cons: Not enough tables to dine in the bar area.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property set in lovely location (loved the kangaroos sunning themselves around the grounds). Convenient parking, pristine presentation. Enjoyed the included breakfast. Had a lovely light meal in the lounge bar after our arrival.
Cons: We arrived late after a wedding to find the entry gates closed and locked. We had not been advised this would happen. After our initial panic we found a sign near the gate saying swipe the room card for entry through the gates. After several attempts with no success we rang for help and they let us in. All is well that ends well but perhaps a note or verbal advice regarding this would have been better. We were out of our room most of the day and had left the sign on the door when we left for breakfast to have the room refreshed. Upon returning at 2 pm to commence getting ready for a wedding we found the room had not been done. We didn't mind too much as we would have made the beds etc ourselves if we knew it wasn't going to be done (although we had seen the rooms opposite being done around 10am so had assumed ours would be done too especially as the hotel seemed mostly empty being a Monday). After commencing showers we had a knock on the door from service staff to do the rooms then. It was too late as we needed to get ready but we did ask for fresh towels.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel and the grounds were gorgeous. Lots of Kangaroos everywhere. Most of the staff were lovely and very helpful. The rooms were very spacious and clean. A beautiful balcony. The shower was quite small.
Cons: Loved the hotel but the breakfast experience wasn't great. The eggs were cold and the hash browns were also cold and soggy. The waitress that served us Monday morning was friendly and very accommodating. The girl Tuesday morning wasn't. We told her the eggs were cold and she did nothing. I asked for fresh hash browns and she got some but just put them in the bowl and didn't even tell me they were there. We had to ask for coffee. It was about 9.15 when we walked in so it wasn't busy. The girl Wednesday asked us if we wanted coffee as soon as we walked in. Also in the indoor pool was freezing.

Pros: There is nothing not to love about the Meletos Farmhouse! From the ambience of the place to the cleanliness of the room and the service of the staff at the accommodation and the restaurant, it is flawless! It’s my first time visiting Yarra Valley and the experience is awesome! I’ll definitely be back!
Cons: Nil.

Pros: Our second visit did not disappoint, although quite busy and probably all rooms full we still felt a level of privacy. It’s a classy Tuscan style boutique hotel amongst the vines, delightful.
Cons: Breakfast is great but I was looking forward to the croissants on offer last visit. Loud pre-dinner conversations and laughing from common area came straight up into the room above !

Pros: Always excellent
Cons: Can’t think of anything
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location only
Cons: The horrendous customer service before I even got to the hotel, the lack of knowledge of staff, the sheets were disgusting like the haven't been washed for months, they severely need to clean their gutters out as we had to pass through a waterfall of water just to get to our room due to the rain a unclear gutters, iron mark left on carpet, the water pressure was non existent in the tinest shower head I have ever seen. Need to update their guest book as the v channels in the book dont even match the channels on the tv. Eg discovery was go and movie channel was nine life. Option online to book breakfast but manual states no food on premises which is pathetic. Shampoo and conditionder provided but no body wash. Upon check in no security what so ever. It was a plan piece of paper not even on letterhead outlining name dates room type and a section to sign. Poor security services didn't even ask for ID or CC details to see if it was me checking in which it wasn't. This is pathetic because the poor customer service prior to checking in the hotel they were harping on about following booking.com terms and conditions yet they failed upon check in because it clearly states on booking.com that I'D and same CC details be given so they failed. My main concern is the lack of knowledge this hotel has about their practices. Always passing the blame to someone else. website clearly states pay at property but they will charge you prior without notice and blame it on booking.com when they themselves require to select the payment details when creating the rate online. So called management contacted me which I doubt was even a manager and tried to say it states it on line yet she could not show me on my confirmation where and who print screen a pathetic little condition tab showing payment at time of booking but it didn't even show the name of the hotel dates or what rate was selected. When questiined about this she couldnt asnwer. Compensation of refund is required

Pros: The beautiful breakfast box. The extra, intimate touches by the hosts. My autistic son got to feed some cattle and our host was so patient with him. Gorgeous location - so relaxing. The guesthouse was so tastefully decorated and very spacious and comfortable. Great to have some space between the master bedroom and the kids bedroms!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: wonderful details like great brekky, wine and chocs, plunger coffee etc. beautiful views
Cons: Tiny cooking area/facilities - ok for a couple but if you filled the bedrooms it would be tricky. Whilst we didn't see the neighbours (owners) - their outdoor area was right there adjacent to ours so didn't feel as private as one might expect - not a problem but just be prepared.

Pros: Bed was really comfy, rooms are nice, Staff were great, and location was very convenient and only a short walk to the wedding venue next door.
Cons: Cockatoos in the tree's were quite noisy in the morning, although we enjoyed seeing them in the tree's outside our room. Our room had a funny smell to it when we arrived, and the sliding doors to go outside on balcony were very stiff to move.

Pros: The room very nice it suited us. The balcony sliding door needs replacing, too hard to slide.
Cons: Nothing

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The refurbished bathroom and views of the lake were lovely. My room was surprisingly quiet and the bed was very comfortable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location was really handy and easy to find. Room was comfortable and spacious and the curtains blocked out the light. Our room had a comfortable sofa in the room and a coffee table, as well as a small dining table and chairs. We also had a balcony with overlooking trees with a table and chairs. Lighting was really good both in the main room and the bathroom. It appears breakfast is only available on weekends, I could be wrong, but we took our own anyway. We ate dinner in the Bistro, attached, very good selection and lovely meal. On a Saturday night the Bistro was naturally busy and when we had checked in the reception staff asked if we'd like a booking for the Bistro, so they booked that for us. There's also a pub and bottle shop on site, so we had a drink in the pub when we arrived and sat in the bar area near the open fire which was blazing away nicely on a cold day in July. We had an upstairs room, I didn't notice an elevator (but there may be one) so if you have difficulty with stairs it would be worth checking as you may need to ask for a ground floor room.
Cons: I found the the split system heating unit quite noisy so you wouldn't want it on at night if you're a light sleeper. It would be good to have a microwave in the room. But overall a great place to stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good bistro food. Very nice internal decor for the room. Great warm air conditioning and good hot water shower
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location great for families
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was super comfortable and cosy. Everything was sparkling clean, the fire was lovely and a generous breakfast supplied.
Cons: It was inconvenient to collect keys from a separate location after a long day of driving, a key safe at the property would be a better option.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Spa and bed were wonderful. Every fine detail was covered throughout the property. Very cosy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The attention to detail just made it extra special. The bed was comfortable, the spa and fire was just perfect. The whole property was presented beautifully and had everything we could want. Such a great location as we had a wedding near by which we walked to.
Cons: The fire was amazing, but it did smell a little smoky so I opened a few windows. The curtains didn’t cover the windows in the bedroom very well, so the room was a little bright for me in the morning, but I’m just used to really dark rooms.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: the whole house is super cosy and pretty, love the fireplace and the big bathtub
Cons: the road was super dark at night, quite hard to drive
6.8 Good
Pros: Overall lovely cottage

Overview Reviews

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly helpful staff.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very Clean and lots of windows allowing natural light. Enough basic kitchen utensils. Plenty of tourist guides and local information for dining and activities. Sports equipment provided for use on tennis and basketball court. Lots of kookaburra in the morning. Nice and private location. Handy torch with keys as entry and driveway lighting was poor.
Cons: We stayed in the cottage, not main building. Outdated decor. Very cold, not well insulated, needed to have all the heaters on in each room to be comfortable. In saying that, all heaters worked effectively. A fireplace would be a beneficial heating addition. Spacious bathrooms. The bathroom with washing machine was clean but reminded me of a public hospital bathroom. And very cold. To save energy and heating we only utilised one bathroom. Stove was quite dated and not energy efficient either. I suggest leaving an instruction sheet on use of gas oven. All areas of cottage were very spacious. Mattresses, good size but were very uncomfortable. Needing more well lit driveway and brighter lights on porch.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: nothing likethe picture when we booked it looked like a cottage but was a large concrete building with to many stairs as 3 of us are elderly . we were not told there was a breakfast in the morning the king room was small and they thought the booking was only for 2 so the 8 of us were all over the building
8.0 Excellent
Cons: A full-length mirror inside the wardrobe would have been nice :) The timber venetians at the doors weren't very private.
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff were good & helped me with wine glasses & some cutlery so we could enjoy sweets in☺
Cons: It just didnt have that cozy feel for me, but my husband was happy.
