The Mac House (MacCallum House) is a wonderful, romantic, luxurious place to stay. Breakfasts there are the best in Mendocino. The rooms were well appointed and the stuff helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the Mac House.
Full breakfast included, location is conveniently right downtown. We had a problem with some of our room's cleanliness which was quickly handled by desk staff to our satisfaction. There was a noisy wedding party the weekend we were there and smokers occasionally congregate around the front entrance forcing you to walk a gauntlet of smoke.
My husband and I are not typically B & B people but we decided to here after reading all the great reviews on other sites. This B & B will not disappoint you. This is not like staying g at grandma's. The BG is wonderfully decorated, the management goes over the top in service and the meals are beyond. We just finished staying 3 nights in this fabulous B &B. As frequent travelers who enjoy nicer properties to stay at we were thrilled with our choice to stay here. These large rooms mostly have full to partial views of the gulch. Call Guy if you want a view room as he's happy to assist with your decision.
Perfect location for a romantic getaway surrounded by magical ocean! Rooms were comfortable - rustic Mendocino style, which we love. The couple running the place was super sweet and prepared a fabulous communal breakfast every morning. I would definitely stay here again.
Close to downtown Bed was very uncomfortable. The room was in need of repainting/repapering. The breakfast was about as good as Denny's. The eating location was tight, and breakfast was late. The innkeeper tried to make the most of what she had to work with, but the place is quite "long in the tooth", as it were.
Location, location, location! Also, the staff are the friendliest and most helpful no matter what you ask. more rocking chairs on the porches, otherwise it's close to perfect for me.
Nothing. It was old and run down. Huge waste of money. We stayed a night up the road at a gorgeous hotel for much less the night before.
Overall a good experience. The place was clean and the lady doing our check in was a world of help for the area. Secluded and off the beaten track, but the entire town is within walking distance. The place where we ate was only a couple of blocks away and was one of the best fish and chips I've ever had. I find it a little distasteful to find thick paint on everything. You wouldn't paint your house this thick so why would you do it to a house from 1905?
The staff was extremely personable and the rooms were very clean. The room was very nice, large, but still cozy. There was no "great room" to gather, only a small area that seated four. The door between our room and the next room let in light and sound.
