About an hour and a half out of downtown Los Angeles, the Aqua Soleil Hotel in Desert Hot Springs, California has the nice trait of feeling like a retreat away from the city. This 95-room resort touts itself as one of the best kept hotel secrets in the state and they may just be right. All rooms include modern amenities like complimentary wireless Internet access, a mini-fridge, and separate desk space. However, what makes the rooms special is the fact that all of them are themed to a vibrant color include a sunshine yellow, bright blue, and a deep purple. Guests can even request a color scheme they would prefer upon making a reservation. The hotel also offers unique rooms, like their celebrity suites which come themed around specific celebrities. Of the hotels many features, the pool numbers among the most noteworthy. Since the hotel is situated near natural hot springs, the pool utilizes the natural resource and is filled with the rejuvenating mineral water. When used with the resort’s extensive spa menu, guests can find an experience ready to enhance their health. While the hotel does not feature any on-site dining, its proximity to town makes it easy to grab a quite bite. In fact, the town center of Desert Hot Springs is just a five-minute walk away. 3.4 Mediocre
Pros: They recently remodeled
Cons: There was a scent in the lobby and it left little to be desired. While the rooms had been remodeled, they were not very clean. And the cable was out due to weather and we were not informed upon check in. We will never stay again, we wanted something a little more convenient for families. They need to upgrade their front doors to automatic, it's very difficult to pull in the cart and carry a child at once.
7.3 Good
Pros: The pool area including the grounds were excellent. Very unique and desirable, warm and welcoming. The bathroom in the 2 bed queen we stayed in was beautiful! The room decor was nice.
Cons: The area it is in is the "ghetto" part of the desert. Looked like blood or something has been splattered on top of the ceiling. It was a big obvious area that should have been cleaned or painted over.
7.6 Good
Pros: It was fine for the cost. Pretty far from any downtown. It's an old dump that was renovated. The pool area looked pretty but the pool was small. Woke up each morning from noises. Bring your own shampoo caus you barely get anything and it's super low quality stuff. They have an AC unit that makes a lot of noise, but works well. Food at the bar closes at 10 so eat before you come home at night. Everything was clean and looked nice, but they skimped where they could. Our main complaint was the location cause it was a good drive to downtown, but it is close to Vons and Walgreens and you get a mini fridge to put snacks in. No microwave though I reheat leftovers. Overall it was good for the price, but next time were gonna stay in palm springs.

6.2 Good
Pros: mineral hot spring fed pools were what the doctor ordered.
Cons: (1) being left ringing or hung-up by front desk. (2) not all pools were working creating crowding at other pools (3) dated, 30yrs, unit interiors .. plastic plants in imitation wicker
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The masseuse ( Summer) was good but the cost was overpriced
Cons: Hotel filthy food in restaurant horrible old grease smell & taste
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Loved the 24 hour pools/jacuzzis. We came here for a mini getaway to relax. Nice environment. Stayed in the pools till 2am. Room was clean and comfortable. Capri restaurant had great food and good prices.
4.0 Okay
Cons: Older facility completely outdated.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The only thing I can say we liked about the place was that the pools were 24 hour.
Cons: The 8 "pools" were actually 1 small pool with 8 Jacuzzis in various sized. For a spa hotel, the pools were filled with kids. There was no hotel supervision for the pool. I had to go to front desk more than once to ask them to have kids refrain from high powered squirt guns in the pool. The pool towels had to be requested at the front desk. Finally on our 3rd try did we get towels, they had run out. We also asked our maid for a couple extra towels since we had to use bath towels at pool & she didn't have any either. We would never stay here again.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the pools
Cons: booked with kayak and Hotwire made it seem like we were getting a deal but when we got to hotel found out that the cost of rooms were not a deal and if I would of booked direct with hotel because I booked 4 rooms would of gotten a better deal. Others staying at hotel said that they got a one day and second day half off. Will never use Kayak or hotline.. Should of booked with Hotel.
6.0 Good
Pros: rooms were clean staff there was very helpful and nice.
Cons: the building itself needs some work. pool was very crowded. wish they had a music policy as there were some people playing loud music by the pool that probably wasn't conducive to the liking of everyone at the pool. better to allow no one to play music. the water was also a bit murky. not sure if that's how the water was supposed to look but made me a little hesitant to jump in.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: LikeLike that there are pools for kids but still relaxing for adults. Drinks offered....bar restaurant...pools openn late....many pools so if too old or too young in one you just go to another.
Cons: Would like to have had a softer bed.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Restaurant food was gr
Cons: Reservation was made thru Kayak but hotel had no record of it. Manager and staff were rude and defensive. They showed no concern about our concerns. Alex was curt and dismissive. Even when confronted with obvious physical problems (shower doesnt work), manager said I was at fault since I didnt tell them the night before. (Hello...I didnt take a shower til morning.) Since I reserved thru kayak, they wouldnt refund any $. Spas were in need of maintenance and renovation. Curtains were ripped and outdated. Vagrants were hanging out under the patio covers of the property and made us feel our vehicle was unsafe and unprotected. Nothing like what we hoped or expected.
4.2 Okay
Pros: What I really liked is a swimming pool. It was clean, big and a water temp was good for swim!
Cons: The room what we got for this price was wery poor, worn-out. The whole Hotel needs restoration!!
6.0 Good
Pros: the spas were great as usual, only one was cold but the rest were lukewarm to hot, used to be more varied on the spas temperatures,
Cons: the pool temp should've have been colder. it was like bathwater and not real condusive for swimming. The rooms were comfy, need to upgrade to flat screens on the TV's, A/C should be cranking out more cold air, took a while to cool down he room.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: didn't stay. The room we booked was a king. Was told when we got there they only had a double queen. When we went to the room it was still being cleaned and the maid was smoking weed in the room while cleaning it. The room even if it were clean would have still been terrible.
6.0 Good
Pros: The mineral water is great and the pools are open 24hrs for registered guests.
Cons: Accidentally left my cell phone in the room when vacating. Called hotel to ask if they recovered it; nothing had been found. Traced my phone (thank you Samsung) using GPS to a residence in Desert Hot Springs and retrieved it from a hotel employee. As Shakespeare wrote, "All's well that ends well."

6.0 Good
Pros: Staff was very, very sweet. Neighbors in the hotel were very friendly and pleasant. I enjoyed the bright pops of color they tried to remodel with. WIth a little more design/cleaning help, this place could be really nice. We got meal tickets to my favorite little desert mom n pop cafe (Sidewinder) for breakfast! Most people don't know that you can use those tickets for $4 off any meal on the breakfast menu (instead of the offered eggs and toast). They offer this instead of a continental breakfast. Pools looked clean and inviting. They had several places to sit by the pool. Ample parking!
Cons: Biggest complaint: Wifi wasn't working a for a day and unfortunately I needed it to finish up a bit of work, so I had to go to a starbucks to finish work. The wifi apparently was fixed the next day and everyone got the memo except us, that they had changed wifi network names. This didn't bother me much, but it would have bothered others: -TV didn't work. TV had a huge dent in the frame. -Lamp by bed was missing it's bulb. -Windows were covered only by old fashioned vertical blinds. Didn't provide much privacy, and did NOT keep out the BRIGHT desert sun in the morning. THey definitely need proper black out curtains. -The front cermaic step to the hotel is chipped off and sharp. -No soap in the bathroom. It was near the closet. (not a huge deal but confusing). -A lot of street and worker noise int he early am. Was that a chainsaw I heard at 7am? The windows are very thin. -Very, very, very old carpeting. -They don't deep clean the rooms. The window sills had dust on them. The bathroom sink drain had junk gathered at the base of it.
7.6 Good
Pros: Nice size ice box. Room was very large.
Cons: There were no pots or pans, so the stove was useless.

1.0 Poor
Pros: The location was really the only thing that I could even remotely say was true about this hotel.
Cons: This hotel is very run downed, dirty and overall just a bad place to stay our freezer did not work, the tv was extremely small for the room, shower was dirty, the pool was hotter than the "hot tub" the sauna would not stay hot, 10/10 will not stay again.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Called the hotel the day I was to arrive, to arrange a late arrival time, and the person (man) that answered could not understand me. After trying to explain at least six (6) times he hung up in my face. Hotel condition/location so bad I did not check in.
Cons: Called the hotel the day I was to arrive, to arrange a late arrival time, and the person (man) that answered could not understand me. After trying to explain at least six (6) times he hung up in my face. Hotel condition/location so bad I did not check in.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing, I left after being in the hotel one hour. See below description. I was forced to find other accommodations at 6pm that night! I'm mortified by the entire experience. This is a one star location at best. Update your listing.
Cons: This is a disgusting, run down, substandard hotel. The property is in a massive state of disrepair/construction in a "dicey" neighborhood. Room Features included a nearly broken table, filthy, stained mattresses and blood stained sheets. Vile experience.
7.0 Good
Pros: Cheap and nice spas and pool.
Cons: Cleanliness is an issue and rooms are very outdated.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The pool and spas were awesome!
Cons: Everything besides the pool and spas was terrible. They didn't speak english. The keys didn't work. They didn't have my reservation. Idk how they're in business

Cons: Unlit, smelly, dirty, creepy. We paid for the room, and then had to wait 15 minutes for someone to take us to it. Once we saw the room, we decided to leave. But they WOULD NOT REFUND OUR MONEY! Incredibly bad, run away.
