Pros: Beautiful building and grounds
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a delightful country hotel. Plenty of parking, beautifully decorated hotel and a friendly staff. I especially enjoyed meeting “the girls” - 2 Great Danes!
Cons: That we had to leave.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Neil and Rosemarie very welcoming and friendly, as were all the staff. Lovely big bed was very comfortable. It was good to chat to other guests in the candle-lit bar of an evening.
Cons: The weather could have been better, but you can’t blame that on the hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast, wonderful hotel, comfortable rooms and super friendly hosts.
Cons: No evening meals or snacks available but that may have just been the weekend we were there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were great as was the room and facilities. The grounds which the hotel sit in are gorgeous and well worth sitting out on the lawn and chilling.
Cons: That we had to go home.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast, Furnishing and Decor.
Cons: Restaurant none existent. Dinner 24hrs reservation and was not available for the duration of our weekend stay. Not much use after a long journey or long day out. Had to travel to town to park and find a restaurant every evening. Left a day early at our expense due to lack of on site restaurant.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Dowers House Hotel is beautifully kept, the owners were friendly and welcoming to both ourselves and our dog and gave us lots of information on what to do in the surround area’s suggesting good walks, pubs and restaurants. The hotel and room were immaculately clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was delicious, even the dog gets a sausage for breakfast ! Would defiantly recommend to anyone, we had a lovely stay here :)
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent property nicely furnished & comfortable. Neil & Rosemary were perfect hosts.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The feel, the decor and the welcome was all fantastic. Although the hotel doesn't offer an evening meal, the owners (lovely couple) will make you a snack if you don't fancy going out... but they will also give you a selection of local places to eat from fine dining to more relaxed eating. The room we booked (the French Lieutenants Suite) was fabulously, opulent, comfortable and full of thoughtful little details, in fact, the hotel was full of little touches that made you feel the owners have put a great amount of thought and pride in their Hotel. We would most definitely stay there again.
Cons: I'm really struggling on this question, you even have access to fresh milk for your tea. Last orders for breakfast is 9.30 on a Sunday... that was disappointing as i could have easily stayed in the comfortable bed for longer... 10am would be better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb venue with superior quality rooms.

Pros: Amazing place with lovely spacious clean rooms. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Julia makes some amazing cakes for the guests to have a slice when they get in from a lovely day out around Lyme Regis and there’s welsh cakes, slow gin, tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the rooms that are topped up everyday!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What an absolutely fabulous place, David and Julia are the perfect hosts. The room was amazing, the extra little touches like the slow gin and the Welsh cakes were so nice. The choice at breakfast was top class, Julia’s home made jams were yummy. We will definitely stop here again .
Cons: Everything was perfect.

Pros: This was a lovely place to stay. The room was a good size and very clean and comfortable. The host and hostess were wonderful, including offering us a place to dry wet and muddy hiking gear, having home-made bread for breakfast and homemade cake for an after-dinner treat each night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I could not fault anything about our stay at Lewsdon B&B. The bedrooms, the food, the staff and facilities were great! Definitely recommend!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lots of personal touches and proprietors so friendly , nothing was too much bother for them .
Cons: We mistakenly booked a room with a private bathroom not an en suite .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: David and Julie set the new standard for a bed and breakfast experience. We arrived late, but David took the time to give us a full review of the town and our room. His restaurant recommendation was spot on. The room was gorgeous, as is the rest of the house. Very centrally located. Lots of extra touches. Home made cake on the dining room table. Julie had fresh tea cakes in the room next to the coffee and tea service. Very high end bathroom amenities. The bed and linens were gorgeous. Spacious bathroom with tub and rain type shower. Breakfast was a gourmet experience from the full English to omelette, all the jams and breads were home made by Julie. Yoghurt starter featured a fresh granola and a grilled peach or mango. Incredible food and great company. Only six total guests.
Cons: Maybe a fan in the room, given the heat wave, but really, there is no room for improvement here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was above expectation which helps to make a perfect break and three days at the Lewesdon being pampered by David and Julia was absolutely marvellous.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hosts and great breakfast. Rooms spotlessly clean.
Cons: Shower pressure was too low.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Five minute walk from town centre and less to the busstop. You are away from the worst tourist craziness in the main season. If you don't want cooked breakfast it is more like a well stocked buffet and you can make your own (real) coffee which is really nice. Nice room with and excellent view. Nice clean shower with loads of warm water and good water pressure. Small garden with benches made it possible to do a bit of reading in the sun (even in October :-)) and I appreciated being able to use the fridge. The couple who owns it are really nice and helpful and I enjoyed talking to them.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent room with sea view. Unusual for a single room. Breakfast freshly cooked and wide variety of fruit, cereal etc available. Free on site car parking by prior arrangement
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Our room Nr 6 on 2nd floor, had a perfect view across the town, to the sea beyond. The telescope gave good views out to sea, across the cliffs, beaches and seaside towns and villages along the Jurassic coast. The room was very comfortable with a big private bathroom. Great choice for breakfast plus super cooked breakfast as well. We’d happily return and we were made very welcome by our hosts.
Cons: Limited parking available but that was typical of the guest houses in the town so provided you booked a parking slot when making your reservation it was OK.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, spacious bedroom for 3 people. Nice breakfast. Lovely owners - thank you!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location near the town centre. Very useful information provided by Ali the owner. We liked the relaxed attitude to breakfast which suited us. Nice room with a decent shower. Comfy bed. Off-road parking at the rear of the property.
Cons: Breakfast in the kitchen area provided was DIY but this was completely fine for us and we actually preferred this scenario. The hill to the town centre was short but steep and might be challenging for some people.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The arrive-anytime was brilliant. The breakfast room an inspired move - thank you so much!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great. You can walk to the town centre and the beach in a few minutes. The views from our bedroom were amazing. Breakfast was delicious and easy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was on very good condition and there was a very relaxed attitude to guests being in the property which suited us very well. Located very near to the town centre with good support from the owner.
Cons: Nothing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, parking and very clean.
Cons: Struggled to get hold of the host to confirm check in details after not receiving final email.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was small but light and with great views also with ensuite shower. the bed very comfy . It was a self -serve continental breakfast .which was generous and lots of choice.
Cons: Check-in was a real hassle we hadnt recieved the promised email with the key box code. the provided phone numbers didnt work, if it wasnt for the builders we would have been relocated by booking .com! who we contacted ,but then we were given the cleaners address (by the builders )who happened to be at home. The Owners were on holiday but had not left an alternative contact no.they eventually contacted us saying 2 others had been affected by an email issue and assumed we were understanding! but offered no real apology.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The sea view from our room (Bubbles) was brilliant. The freedom over meals was a pleasant rarity which we would have made more of with a longer stay. It also good to get a private car parking spot - not always guaranteed in Lyme Regis, particularly this close to town. Ali was very welcoming and is keen to make everyone's stay a pleasant one.
Cons: The room was very warm despite having no heating on! The shower stall was of basic minimum size as was the ensuite itself. It would be impractical for larger people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room had a sea view. Our hosts Ali and John were very friendly and recommended an excellent pub, the Volunteer, where we had dinner. We liked the flexibility of the key safe and the breakfast room, which was open all hours.
Cons: Nothing!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lyn was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious. The hotel is charming and has a relaxed ambience. Our bed was very comfortable. There's an honesty bar and treats left in the bedroom and these little touches help make the hotel feel special. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom and fluffy white dressing gowns add to the feel of luxury. We would happily go back and stay there again. Highly recommend.
Cons: I think parking isn't easy in Lyme Regis and the hotel doesn't have its own car park. There's a public car park a few minutes walk away and we were lucky to find off street parking around the corner. The hotel is very popular and we booked the last remaining room. The en-suite was minute, but perfectly formed! I had to open the bathroom door to be able to dry off after showering.

Plenty of choice for main breakfast, nothing was too much trouble and food nicely presented. I was able to sit on the terrace at breakfast as weather was good. I was always addressed by my name. Fresh milk and bottled water provided from a fridge to help yourself and the room and en suite good.

Cons: needs small table in bathroom to put wash bags (I'm being fussy)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food including the breakfast, though for us the breakfast quantity was too much. Location perfect. Lovely bathroom. Complimentary beers and fudge a good idea.
Cons: Noisey fridge. Had to turn it off at night. Fall of debris from ceiling gap. Informed management who were aware and had remedies in hand. No parking was an inconvenience but it wouldn't stop us using the hotel again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, great location. Loved everything about it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything provided in the room was high quality, with extra touches such as a phone charging pad. Lovely bathroom.
Cons: The noise. You have a choice between leaving a window open and hearing street noise, or shutting it and having a noisy fan on.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We do not have a bad word to say about the Pilot Boat. The owners were so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay amazing. My husband and I have stayed in beautiful hotels around the world but I can honestly say this was one of our absolute favourites! Everything was top quality and top finish. Dyson hairdryer and fan were in the room for our use. The bathroom was just gorgeous and the bed was so comfy! I have already recommended this fantastic boutique hotel to friends and family and we will certainly be back for another visit. Thankyou to you all who made our stay so lovely.

5.4 Okay
Pros: The property was clean and the breakfast was good. The host had given good instructions to get to their parking area - the entrance to which was not in the same road as their front door.
Cons: The entrance to the property was unwelcoming - past washing lines and other properties, and up lots of steps before reaching the reception door. The common areas of the property looked quite tired, although clean. Our main issue was that we had booked a "deluxe" room, but the room we were given was small (approximately 11ft by 11ft?), overlooking a roof, so no views, and with nothing to warrant the description of deluxe. We were charged £100 (per night), which is more than we have paid for similar or better properties elsewhere, so we were expecting a higher standard - the accommodation was disappointing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lux feel throughout. Fabulous fresh fruit salad. Homemade biscuits in room. A delightful cat.
Cons: Not sure about position of curtain in bathroom close to toilet. Only minor observation.
10.0 Excellent

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast. Very nice welcoming and helpful hosts. Very clean, comfortable (a little small) room with well equipped welcome tea/coffee tray.
Cons: Nothing really but be sure to get directions from the hosts however for the car park as this would be almost impossible to find otherwise. Also needs to be a bit clearer to find B and B from the car park
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners, food ,room and how clean it was great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect Fiona and John are lovely and the cat too :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly lovely accomodation perfect location will definitely be coming back!
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location was not explained in the startIt is NOT suitable for aynone that has difficulty with steps and stairs specially at night. The steps to the front door numbered 23 concrete and some steep iron. When it was wet it was even more treacherous. The place itself was badly lit inside and for anyone with sight difficulties this had not been explained beforehand. The breakfast was good.
Cons: Sorry the other bit should be here?

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fine and my host was amenable to our whims each day. We knew parking was not going to be perfect but once again my host pulled the stops out and gave us oldies a lift up the hill for the car which made our stay in such a good location excellent.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location and the parking suggestion worked very well. We loved the breakfast hamper and sitting at the window eating it and also being able to help ourselves to more milk, toast etc in the kitchen. Having a fridge was good too. The bathroom was spacious with good toiletries and a great shower. We liked the easy check in and general security
Cons: We could have done with a second chair in the room instead of a huge floor lamp and there was quite a lot of clutter in the room which I had to clear into the wardrobe to make space for the breakfast hamper. We were told that there was lots of local information in the room but there was none. However we had brought our own and the tourist office was very helpful so that didn't matter. Apart from the lack of a second chair these are minor points and we had a lovely stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant location. Very organised check-in as we arrived late & were able to put a code into the front door & collect a key on our arrival. Fantastic to have a breakfast hamper delivered to the bedroom door!
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location was central however it was too noisy.
Cons: Our room was so noisy every morning woke up to to traffic. Road cleaners. Bottle banks etc worse nights sleep should have advised us when booking the room
7.5 Good
Pros: I liked the quirky features of The Mad Hatter Room although it was looking a little tired in places and a tad over decorated.
Cons: I understand the age of the property but rather noisy. People walking around upstairs - you heard every step.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable room with a sea view. Delicious breakfast that came to the door in. a picnic hamper.
Cons: Lots of stairs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was cosy and comfortable. We loved the hamper for breakfast as it allowed us to eat at leisure.
Cons: We would have like a little table for the breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was nice to receive the breakfast in the basket left outside our door, and the selection of breakfast things on offer was good. Liked being free to come and go, and use of the kitchen to top up milk, biscuits etc was good. The room was quite small but quirky and themed which was nice, loved the big walk in shower.
Cons: The room was very hot, and had to have the windows open most of the time, which meant that traffic noise was quite loud. The breakfast hot savoury pastry was a little strange, nice to have something hot, but not sure what. There was a terrace outside, but was not sure if that was available to everyone, not that we had much time, but if we had been there longer might have gone up there with a glass of wine to watch the sunset, so perhaps that should be part of the welcome intro from the receptionist.
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast was superb and the bed very comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.
Cons: Room needed a dressing table or similar and bathroom was not great for cat swinging :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room , great facilities and friendly staff
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent central location, friendly welcome from staff. Quirky and original decor to room. Good range of drinks and refreshments in the room. Excellent hamper breakfast delivered to your door, so long as you don't mind eating in your room. Close to Hix Oyster and Fish House which was superb.
Cons: Being an old property, soundproofing between rooms above or below is not the best.

Pros: Lovely hotel set in a beautiful garden with wonderful sea views. The staff are efficient and friendly and manage to create a pleasant informal ambience. The room was clean and well furnished.
Cons: I stayed in a single room which, although small was fine for two nights but the bathroom was very small. Fortunately I'm petite but a larger person would find the space challenging!
5.4 Okay
Pros: Views call to see if we were arriving late to offer us some sandwiches etc was nice .
Cons: We arrived late staff started turning off lights in the lounge area at 11 pm forcing us to retire early trying to check out in the morning , whilst staff moving cars around in the car park took 35 minutes.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly & helpful at all times. Breakfasts & evening meal were very enjoyable with good selection & varied menus. The room had a nice position over-looking the garden & views to the sea.
Cons: We experienced quite a lot of noise in our room (10) between 6pm - 11pm which was due to it's placement over the dining room & bar area. I believe this area, with room 9, is to be re-developed soon so maybe extra sound proofing would be advisable.
