There’s nothing better than staying in a large hotel near Retiro Park and the exclusive Salamanca District, just minutes from the "Paseo del Arte" with the iconic "El Prado", "Reina Sofía" and "Thyssen Bornemisza" museums. An impressive complex consisting of two buildings, delightful gardens, an art gallery, restaurants, gym and private parking. A hotel that was fully renovated in 2010 whose features include unique windows designed by the great Ortega, who made the windows for La Almudena cathedral, amongst other works of art.
Business areas such as Méndez Alvaro are just minutes from the hotel as well as key locations such as the Hospital Gregorio Marañón, sports complexes such as Madrid's Sports centre, the M82 competition pools, the headquarters of the Spanish Swimming Federation and the offices of Radio Televisión Española in Torre España, the popular popular “Pirulí”, are all examples of important buildings situated in the vicinity of the hotel.
Nearest metro station: Sainz de Baranda
Hotel is well situated for shopping and the Retiro, very easy to get to by car, but see comments below.
Despite assurances by phone that parking would be no problem, no space was available. A hotel of this size should have spaces, or at least access to public parking. Reception and lifts are overwhelmed at peak hours. I have stayed here often, but it's showing signs of a lack of care. Good hotel if the price is right.
This hotel was great value.Staff were very helpful on places to eat and things to do.Its is 2mins from a metro station which you can get straight from the airport.
The staff, comfort and location were very good
The poached eggs for breakfast were very poor. They were cooked, tasted of and presented in vinegar which soaked into the toast. My wife had to leave her full cooked breakfast as a result of this.
The staff was friendly, helpful and most spoke at least some English. Very helpful in a foreign city. The hotel was just 2 blocks from the Metro. It was very modern and clean. Most signs, menus and notices were in both English and Spanish.
The beds were more firm than I was used to and the pushed-together twin beds would separate creating a crack in the middle making it difficult to sleep close to my wife.
Restaurant menu was a bit poor.
Location, size of room
The sauna was not working and the staff was not very apologetic about that. Our room was also not ready on time.
Clean room, good location and quiet. Good value.
Pretty average hotel
My room was not ready upon arrival and had to wait whilst it was cleaned, staff generally not too friendly, the 'gym' facilities are a joke - the singular machine was broken, the restaurtant is expensive ... i could go on - my advice is dont stay at this hotel - very poor
Hotel was very reasonably priced, convenient to two metro lines, room was confortable, staff were friendly
Room was just a little too warm, however, I was able to open the window.
Very pleaseant staff, very well equipped hotel, one of best I have had the pleasure to stay in for some time. Certainly to be reccomended
