Well, this one is hard to assess unambiguously. At the end of the day we have loved the stay. It resembles parents house - super friendly, relaxed and lazy. The atmosphere doesn't look like a hotel one - you are rather a welcomed guest at owners property. But don't get me wrong, you feel super good about that relaxed vibe. Sometimes too relaxed so then you start to bassically don't care anymore about things like room cleaniness. :) We loved all the staff (including Ajax - the dog), especially Louis (the scuba guy!). The place is away from the town (which is crazy because of cruise ships), super quiet and remote. There is all you need to just use it as a lovely hideway. :)
Unfortunately room cleaniness is not good enough. I know it's eco resort and there are some compromisess made but I do believe bathroom part could be mantained in better shape. Place has excellent reviews (which we also truly support), but given high season price tag our expectations regarding cleaniness were a bit higher. Second off mosquitos are crazy in Mahahual (not property fault). Good thing is that they are active mostly instantly after sunset and owners has huge fans which get rid of them from "lobby".
The location is excellent, on the beach., quiet, peaceful. Carolina is really nice, breakfast is great and the service is so good.
The rooms are a little old, in need of redecoration.
A beautiful location and supercomfortable bungalows right on the beach. We slept very well and woke to observe the beautiful sunrise. The hosts are very friendly and ready to help you with anything you need. The restaurant of this small hotel is definitely worth to visit even from long distance: Everything we had was simply delicious and we are still thinking of the stuffed pineapple that was definitely one of the best dishes we have ever had. We would have loved to stay longer!
It is like a little piece of paradise. Complete relaxation, amazing food and the nicest staff.
We liked the location.. peaceful not crowded.. loved the private beach, the road was a bit too bumpy to get there which made getting in and out into town a pain.. But over all it was great..
